((Before I post, can I ask a few questions to determine the style of marching? Like commands and things? If I should move this post somewhere else, let me know.

What commands do you use? I've heard the "Band ten hut, mark time mark" (1,2,3,4,5,6,7, set and step?) all in even increments. I've heard the "mark time, mark" said like (1)mark (&)time... (3,4)maaaarrrkkk". Do you use "detail" or just "set?" "band horns up"? Do you guys do "forward, march. Left flank, march. etc"? Just out of curiosity, to make things a little easier.

And if you say Cavalier's style, or Blue Devils style (etc) I wont understand. lol))

Lol, I didn't think of that.
We use "Band ten hut" "set" and sometimes we'll use "band horns up" -cause Charlie's cool like that-
Hm...I'm having a hard time remembering what it was we did. Shoot...
I think when the announcer tells us we can take the field, the DM will say "Band ten hut!" then "Band, move!"
or something like that. A lot's going through my mind at that time, so I really don't pay attention to what he's saying, just that he's saying it. But I'm pretty sure that we don't use left flank and all that jazz.

Oh, and as for technique (I know you didn't bring it up Jello, but I think I should still establish it, ya know?)
We're using straight leg, not Carolina Crown status though (they don't bend their legs at all, as far as Ive seen. With the exception of their sexy as hell visuals)

Here
This video has a few good shots where you can see the technique fairly well. I love this show! I would not want to actually march in it though, as it only has a few stops throughout the entire show. That must have been a b***h!

Drill, yes. Basics, no, unless the colorguard instructor is stuck in traffic x)

That helps a lot. biggrin

When I was a freshman, we used "Set" (legs apart, head down, instruments in their respected down places), and then "Band ten hut" and "mark time mark" in basic blocks. We only used "band horns up" a little at the beginning to practice conformity, and when we're just practicing music. Even then the director or DM usually just puts his hands up and we followed suit.

Then our old band director retired and we got a new used-to-be Cavalier and all of his buddies.

Sophomore year "mark time mark" became something that just had us marking time FOR FREAKING EVER... Until the staff said "forward (backward) march."

Then last year we dropped "band ten hut" and began using "Atten, hut" and did a little bit of left and right flanks. Set became "at the ready." Who knows what else is going to change this year...

Whenever we march onto the field, we're standing at the side lines, and the drum majors (I was one! whee ) turn to us and say "You're at the ready." Then "BAND TEN HUT" and we all yell HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT as we do it. Then as the DMs turn back around a select person yells "NOOORTHERRRRRRNNNNNN" (our school is Northern York) and we do the "AROO AROO AROO" thing? It's from a movie. I wish I remembered which... It might be Sparta. But anyway, then the lead snare gives us four clicks and we march out. It's all great fun. We're a very... proud... band.
