If Faleen was given a choice, she would take this particular day to tuck herself away in the development lab, or the robotics, deep in the bowls of one of the mecha they were building to work on the wiring alone. Or even just in her room, working on more blueprints... or the Cafe. Somewhere alone, and certainly somewhere... just not here.... and not on this particular day.
But, it just so happened that Faleen did not have a choice, the tech labs needed a full tested report done with necessary electronic reading from the device that had been placed into the dragon champion's head. Since she was the one who knew how the little device was constructed the best out of the tech's she was the one to get the proper readings, and make sure it was functioning properly.
Faleen kept telling herself over and over, that she would love nothing more that to have nothing to do with Lance anymore, but it seemed that this wasn't going to be an option. She had a job to do, and she was going to do it. She had went over the test process with Seth beforehand, to get his approval that it would be a sound test, then gathered what equipment she needed, and headed to the lab in the science lab that Lance was going to be brought for the tests.

Lance was already there when Faleen arrived, having been escorted by a lab tech and a medic who would be overseeing his vitals during the test. With a device and subject as important as this, there was no taking chances. They had to be certain that the device and the effect it had, was as they intended it to.
The man himself had been instructed to seat himself, which he did without question. And was sitting there when Faleen walked through the doors. He lifted his eyes briefly but other than that, there was no reaction. His stare was a vacant one, the light having completely gone out of his golden eyes.
If it wasn't for the fact that he was living and breathing, one might swear that this was some kind of robot.

Faleen looked to the tech, and the medic first, greeting them and introducing herself. "I'm Agent Faleen, I've been assigned to run the tests." After this she took a moment to regard Lance... or what was left of him, wasted to nothing, unkempt, and his eyes lacked that spark he used to have. So this was what the device would do to a person.
She looked away after a short time, setting her bag onto the table and opening it as she got her equipment out, and began to set up. It didn't take very long, most everything was ready to go when she packed it. she just needed to get him hooked onto it.
Taking a set of sensors, she turned, and took a few strides back toward Lance, not looking at him as she placed the wired pads over points on his head and the back of his neck. Pulling back once she was done and folding her hands behind her back, looking over at the two who would be watching. "Everything that will be said today has been pre-approved, and a full log will be given to my lead Executive, if you have any questions regarding this please bring them to Seth, otherwise please do not speak of them." She told them, with a polite nod.

Lance did little more than blink and breathe as the wires were placed on his head and neck. He sat completely motionless and said nothing, simply staring ahead with no reason to look anywhere else.
The medic, who happened to be Dr. Reyard herself, nodded along with the lab tech. She looked at the man with distaste, and shook her head. It was almost... creepy, the way that this device seemed to affect a person, suppressing everything that made them human. If she were any other doctor in any other place, she would object to such unethical treatment.
Instead the woman sighed, and kept her eye on monitors that kept track of Lance's heart rate, brain waves, and other vitals. "Whenever you're ready," she told the agent as she held her clipboard, ready to jot down any notes.

Faleen nodded, stepping back again to pick up her tablet, sliding and tapping her fingers over it, with a glance up to a monitor that she had set up. "... There you are little one." She muttered to herself, her tablet showing an energy reading that she recognized was from the device in his head.
Okay.... She was ready. Stepping forward to take a seat again, facing the dragon master. "...Okay Lance, can you hear me?"

The response was delayed, but eventually he looked up to meet Faleen's gaze. Lance... that was his name. It was appropriate to respond when spoken to, and so he did.
"Yes," he then said in regard to her question. His voice held no note of emotion or feeling, simply flat and indifferent.
Thus far, the readings on the monitors remained normal, and Dr. Reyard kept her attention there. Although she did keep an ear tuned to the questions that were being presented to the subject.

She wanted to look away when he looked at her, but she kept her stare, keeping her face carefully professional.
He responded to his name, and could answer vocally. "Good." She said, letting the recording of the reading continue on her tablet as she tucked her other hand under it. cradling it carefully as she kept her gaze level at him watching for anything out of the ordinary as she was supposed to. Next question. "Do you know who I am?"

There was a thoughtful hum from Dr. Reyard as she noticed a slight fluctuation in his brain waves at the next question. She jotted this down, but seemed unconcerned. He seemed to have simply recognized the agent that was sitting in front of him.
Which was confirmed a moment later when he actually responded.
"Yes, Agent Faleen Ewell." Lance replied with that same monotone voice that would typically be rather uncharacteristic of him.

Her gaze broke from Lance's at the small noise from the Doctor in the room, but returned it back when Lance answered the question. "Agent Faleen Ewell." She repeated, in a confirming tone. "So Lance, we know each other, don't we."
at this question she looked down at her data pad, fingers once again sliding along the surface, catching the readings and with one hand typing in notes as she went. 'ability to respond to to direct questions, remembers faces and names without a problem.' next would be locations, events, along with more open ended questions, and here was when she would start bringing in questions that would normally inspire emotional responses, to see how well those go over.
Who better to do that in the HQ than Faleen herself...
She allowed her gaze to linger on the data pad, swallowing a couple of times before lifting her gaze back up to him, waiting for his response. "How do we know each other? Is there anything that you can recall?"

He didn't respond to the first couple of comments, but her question yet again drew pause. Reyard watched the shifting of his neural activity as he seemed to be thinking it over.
Lance's lips twitched slightly for a moment as he tried to answer her question. His memories were fuzzy, and not easily accessible, especially the farther back he tried to recall.
"We met in the outpost," he then said finally.
Reyard continued to jot down notes.

Hum, it seemed he was only answering questions. Nothing out of the ordinary was happening with the readings from the device, thats all Faleen really needed to be focusing on, it was the doctor who would be taking note of anything more... physical. Even so, she couldn't help but notice of pauses and small twitches of his features, She wondered if that was an affect of what exactly they were doing to him.
Her fingers one again tapped quickly over the tablet screen. She let the room linger in silence for a while as she seemed to be adjusting something about her readings. He seemed to be good about answering questions, He could recall the outpost, though it seemed much more difficult for him. now started the real test, see what kind of an emotional response, first, the hardest. She didn't want to be here...
Bowing her head a little as she settled back into her seat, and crossed her legs, glancing back up at Lance, and somehow managed to give him a smile.
She didn't want to be here....
"Its been a while since we got to talk, hasn't it. I have to admit, despite everything, its good seeing you again, you look like your holding up." She spoke just like she used to when she would arrive at the outpost, greeting him like she always did. Despite the words, and the tone, a pink tint was creeping over her cheeks when she had to say these things.
Reaching to her thigh, she plucked up one of the dusk balls from it, holding it up for him to see. "Do you remember Komashi?" She asked, This was not her dusk ball, in fact it was Absol's, but he didn't know that. "Well, I've been taking care of her, and she's been doing well," She sounded genuinely honest at this. "She's safe, happy, healthy, and been doing good in her training. Would you like to see her again?"
She didn't want to be here....

There was silence from Lance's end as he listened and watched the change in Faleen's demeanor. His facial features then suddenly contorted in what looked to be pain, his teeth clenching as he bent over and held a hand to his head.
Dr. Reyard's brows rose as she continued to monitor his neural activity, and spoke in quiet tones to the lab tech next to her so as not to interrupt with what Faleen was doing.
"Stop it." Lance then finally said. "Why are you doing this?" A part of him knew it was being faked, and yet... But his tone of voice didn't change in the slightest. Still, something was going on in that head of his, but whether it was actually getting through and affecting his actions was another matter.
Eventually he sat up again, seemingly whatever had happened died down again and he stared evenly at Faleen once more. "I don't want to see her."

Her eyes widened in reaction to seeing the facial contortion, She was clearly not expecting to see a reaction, at least not so soon. Blinking her eyes quickly a couple of times before she snapped her gaze down to look at the energy readings, everything was being logged, the results will be gone over more thoroughly be the science department.
Faleen lifted her gaze once again, back onto Lance as sat back up, seeing to have passed that moment. "... So you are still in there." She said in a quiet tone. Her own expression returning to that of a professional stillness, not looking away from those dead eyes.
She continued, not replying to his first comments, Instead her hand closed around the busk ball tightly. "You don't want to," Interesting reply. "Just as well, That was the first lie I've ever told you, This isn't Komashi." The Dusk Ball was returned to her leg. "Last I heard she was given to the labs." Her expression got a little harder, giving the man sitting across from her something of an accusatory stare. "She's probably not fairing any better than you are."
Her head tilted to the side slightly, watching him closely, letting some time pass, gathering her next approach. "I should have never given her to you, I thought you would take care of her, not get her killed, or worse."

Lance returned Faleen's hard expression with a neutral one. Even if he was still in there, there was only so much he could do about it. The device was doing its job and suppressing his emotions rather effectively, keeping him from reacting or thinking as he normally would.
The agent's words drew nothing but silence and a blank stare from the man as she went on about how Komashi was likely faring. Eventually though, he did manage a response, one that the normal Lance would be horrified to hear.
"She is not my concern." In the state he was in, Lance had no attachment to Komashi or any of his Pokemon.

Somehow, she wasn't surprised that the guilting wouldn't push much more at him. Still, she was getting the readings she needed, and everything looked normal... so far anyway. It was that abnormality she was still wondering about, hoping the labs would be able to analyze that for an answer.
lifting one corner of her mouth, She most certainly was not his concern anymore. as much as she was Faleen's at this point. "It a little disturbing you would say something like that." She informed him, If she actually meant this or not, was only truly known by the Agent herself.
Still wearing an expression of great dudgeon, Faleen continued with the tests, the longer she sat there, the less and less she wanted to be there. And after a while, she was starting to look it, despite how much importance she put into this, how much she loved her work, and how professional she tried to be. Her eyes were looking a little more fatigued, cheeks pink, and her posture wasn't as properly erect as it usually was.
She didn't want to look at him anymore, didn't want to talk to him and get that familiar empty voice replying back.
dark, gloved fingers tapped once on the Tablet in her arms, for the last time, she forced her gaze back up to him, a soft frown playing over her lips. "Well Lance." Faleen said, pushing herself to her feet, head still level, though she peer at him from down her nose "As much as I've missed our chats, I'm afraid this is coming to and end... anything you wish to add? " She doubted it, very seriously.
