xxxxxxxxAs you are walking through one of the dirtier areas of the Asylum, a sliver of light spills in a straight line xxxxxxxxahead of you, lighting up a slight figure busily scrubbing at the walls. It appears to be a young man, xxxxxxxxclad in bright red, black, and shimmery gold. But it is not just gold that seems to shine in the light; xxxxxxxxa pair of delicate wings, like an insect's, flutters behind him.
xxxxxxxxYou take a step forward. Immediately, his eyes are upon you, gold like the trinkets that adorn him, xxxxxxxxand he regards you suspiciously for a moment before his pale face takes on an expression of indifference. xxxxxxxx"Please leave." He drawls, shaking the sponge in his hand. Droplets of soap and water splatter to the xxxxxxxxfloor as he goes on, rather insolently, "As you can see, I'm quite busy."Alphonse is the easiest character for me to use in-thread. If you'd like to RP with him (in-thread or otherwise), feel free to throw someone at him when he's out and about, or just send me a PM! But here are a few things you should keep in mind:
♦ Alphonse is a bit of a germaphobe. He will never offer to shake hands unless he's wearing gloves, and direct physical contact with strangers tends to offend him. He will make plenty of comments about how unsanitary the Asylum (and everyone/everything) is. ♦ Despite his French name, Alphonse is supposed to be British, and as such occasionally uses British expressions. Since I am American and looking up most of these up in a dictionary, please correct me if my usage is incorrect or just plain awkward! ♦ If he's not cleaning, he will usually be looking for a "pink cat girl". ♦ He is under the impression that all gijinka patients are like him (Pokemon given human forms through experiments). This is a big reason why he approaches other gijinka with such pity, especially legendaries, and might make comments like, "they did this to you, too?" ♦ Please be aware of his powers and traits!

Alphonse R. Colbert the III • al-FAWNS col-BEHRAge: Around 14-16 physically, was 7 as a Volbeat Hair: Powder blue/periwinkle, always kept neat Eyes: Gold, either suspicious or disinterested Height: 5'8'' / 172 cm Weight: 126 lbs / 57 kg Body Type: Thin and delicately built. His fragile frame belies a hidden strength. Gender: Male Species: Volbeat Gijinka
Orientation: Gay but not terribly open about it Personality: Just enough of a stickler for common courtesy that he can be called 'polite', Alphonse is arrogant at worst and unfailingly respectful of personal space at a tentative best. He keeps people at an arm's length -- possibly to avoid any sentimentality, or possibly because of his mild mysophobia. While he tries to give off an untouchable mien and is mostly successful in doing so, he has a hot temper and is often seen frantically cleaning either himself or especially grimy areas of the Asylum (with gloves, of course; my word, why would I ever touch that filthy floor with my bare hands). It is highly probable that he is the reason so many disinfectant wipes have gone missing. Voice: High, sharp, and thick with a Southern British accent; specifically, he speaks in Received Pronunciation. His speech tends towards overly formal or mildly condescending, and its usual consistency stutters when offering compliments.
Brief History: Alphonse was originally part of a swarm of Volbeat. His importance in the swarm came solely from his connection to its Illumise guide: as her younger brother, he received an extra amount of protection from the other Volbeat. However, this safeguard was not enough to save him or his sister from a sudden attack; Alphonse was captured by scientists while the rest of his swarm was left to die. Through several experiments, his body and that of a human boy's were essentially fused together, leaving Alphonse a Volbeat-human hybrid. He escaped while the scientists effused of their success to their equally immoral colleagues. Eventually, Alphonse was taken in by a human family, from which he took his clothes and his full name, and he remained hidden in their home. But this tentative peace would only last five years; the scientists eventually tracked him down, recaptured him, and threw him into the Asylum to ensure uninterrupted observation.
Powers: Thunderbolt - TM implant. Alphonse releases sparks of electricity from his antennae to provide light or shock a target. It is sometimes strong enough to stun those without electric resistance for at least a few seconds. Because he is not yet familiar with using this technique, he can't fully control it (his aim is poor and he may use more or less power than he intended) and is easily worn out by using it. Moonlight - Heals somewhat faster when exposed to moonlight. Effective only at night, the rate at which he recovers depends primarily on the weather: clear skies and direct exposure to moonbeams provide more of an effect, while cloudy skies only give him a slight energy boost.
Traits: Floating - Though he still retains his wings, this new form is much too heavy for them to support flight. The most he can do now is hover a few inches above the ground. Illuminate - Alphonse also retains his small yellow tail, which is supposed to glow... but it's remained dim ever since he was given a human form. He believes that it (and various areas of his body) will never glow again, but it's more likely that his luminescence is connected to his mood. Seeing this light is invigorating for Alphonse. Fire Weakness - Has an increased vulnerability to fire.
RP Colors: Red for thoughts and dialogue, gold for emphasis, lavender for memories of his sister.

Stages: Teen, New Patient Leitmotifs: Eneomaos Tower (Castlevania: Curse of Darkness), Dust Dancing in the Wind (Baten Kaitos)
Nicknames: Al, Fonzie (from his sister; should anyone else refer to me as such I will poison their meals with bleach) Birthdate: November 30th Birthplace: Sinnoh, Route 229 Blood Type: AB
Unusual Features: His wings, tail, and ever-twitching antennae; a faint vertical scar at the top of his forehead; a tiny inscription of the number "313" branded on his upper right arm
Likes: Cleanliness, hyacinths, light (spotlight and moonlight), stargazing Dislikes: Birds/patients with bird-like wings, chocolate, red liquid (wine and blood), filth Fears: Fire, mirrors, knives
Strengths: Clever, good at noticing details, resourceful, empathetic, protective Weaknesses: Terrible temper and self-esteem issues, dramatic, compulsive, jealous, somewhat cowardly
Habits: ♦ Tends to speak with exaggerated hand movements and/or pronunciation. He kind of overuses italics. This habit is due to coaching from his human family, who nurtured his natural flair for the dramatic. ♦ Tends to walk ahead of people, even if he doesn't know where he's going or he's supposed to be following them. It's part of his swarm mentality -- he was normally placed near the front of the group, right behind his sister and flanked on each side by his guardians. ♦ When he crosses his arms, he always makes sure to hide his hands behind his sleeves. ♦ Often sleeps outside in the courtyard.
Talents/Skills: ♦ Fluent in English, French, and German. ♦ Trained in basic first aid methods. ♦ Particularly knowledgeable in astronomy, theater, and Pokemon species/mythos. ♦ An elegant dancer. His proficiency for dance began as a Volbeat, and was further built upon by his human family.
Equipment:
Stage Costume (Upper Armor) One of the many outfits Alphonse's human family provided him, this seems to be his favorite. It is the court jester costume for a play his adoptive father wrote. Made primarily of a shiny, silk-like material, it is particularly flashy, and its many decorations sometimes jingle as Alphonse walks. It's been modified by Analys to add some extra warmth.
Has no special effects. DEF +15 RES +20
White Diamond Boots (Footwear) Part of the court jester costume, these white leather boots are studded with real gold. They're impossible to walk in silently. Alphonse is protective of them, and after his hair, they are the first things he will clean whether or not they are visibly soiled. They are also the first things he will use to attack, mainly because of their thick heels.
Has no special effects. ATK +3 SPD -5
Bell Earrings (Accessories) A pair of cloth earrings Analys stitched together for Alphonse, clipped onto the ear with metal rods. Two small pieces of metal are inside each of them, which sometimes create a faint jingling noise. After promising to give her any materials he can spare for her clothesmaking hobbies, Alphonse pierced his ears himself with a (heavily sanitized) needle.
Has no special effects. Does not increase any stats.
Fighting Style: Alphonse uses Fighter tactics. He is quick to strike if provoked, attacking mainly with kicks -- he rarely makes use of Thunderbolt in battle due to his poor control over it. While he can land surprisingly solid blows, he cannot defend against them, and after his initial aggression cools down he will try to keep a distance between himself and his opponent.
Trivia: ♦ Alphonse can't sing or cook, something he considers shameful. ♦ The "III" in his name has no real significance. Alphonse just tacked it on because it sounded important. ♦ His adoptive father is heavily based off one of my OCs, who is the leader of a traveling troupe of actors. One look at his outfit and no one else would fit for his human dad. 8'D ♦ As a Pokemon, his full movelist was: Bug Bite, Tail Glow, Moonlight, and Flash.

(This is my attempt to summarize what I remember of the RPs Alphonse has been involved in so far, because I am too lazy to go back and log everything ahahaha)
Illyana: Big Sister Despite the siblings' many arguments ("Clefairy Boy!" "Jumpluff Head!"), they cared for each other deeply. Alphonse has not seen Illyana since his capture. He tries not to think of her, but memories of her are some of the only things that make him smile these days... or some of the many things that set him off. Alphonse's older sister. Considered deceased.
Delysia Laurent: Pink Cat Girl Alphonse has decided to watch out for Delysia's well-being. He seems to have done so out of some jaded sense of philanthropy; he finds her innocence both disconcerting and pitiful. Though sarcastic in 'instructing' her about the Asylum and other Pokemon, he usually tries to search for her as soon as she wanders off. Considered a friend and something of an apprentice.
Jera: Will You Kindly Stop Poking My Arse?! Briefly spoken twice; initially Alphonse was horrified to see a Jirachi as a gijinka, but was then quickly annoyed by Jera's touchiness and childish attitude. He thinks Jera doesn't fully comprehend the situation he's in, and he is as cynical toward his innocence as he is to Delysia's. Considered an acquaintance.
Millisent Napier: Fixated On My Clothes They've spoken only once, but aside from a few comments about his clothes and his 'foppish' appearance (why I never), Alphonse only finds Mills somewhat off-putting. He vaguely remembers that she mentioned someone called 'Photinus'. Considered an acquaintance.
Analys Rosin: Also Fixated On My Clothes Alphonse appreciates the fact that Analys is the first patient to compliment his clothes rather than insult them or remark on their oddity. More recently, Analys has made him a pair of earrings and fixed up his outfit, and in return he provides her with any materials he can find. Considered a good acquaintance. • Earrings, A New Outfit
Roscielle Delarc: Clumsy, Clumsy Girl Since learning that her current form is also the product of an experiment, Alphonse thinks of Roscielle as something of a kindred spirit. He also thinks of her as careless and a little delicate, given her recent incident with her ankle. He's currently trying to offer her some support by helping her get around. Considered an acquaintance. • First Meeting, Second Meeting, Broken Ankle?
Autumn Mosley: What Is That Contraption You're Riding In? While they've only spoken briefly, Alphonse also thinks of Autumn as a sort of kindred spirit, since they have both lost the ability to do something they once loved. He's baffled by her quiet optimism, but he's willing to help her move around the Asylum if need be. Considered an acquaintance.
Roekan Soar: That Poochyena Though Alphonse was initially intrigued at sighting another Hoenn Pokemon, Roekan's dismissive nature made him lose much of his sympathy for him. Their second meeting was more cordial as Alphonse treated some of Roekan's wounds. He's mildly concerned about all the fights he gets into... Considered an acquaintance.
Reverie: Quite The Acrobat, Aren't You? Encountered during one of his searches for Delysia. Reverie is the first patient Alphonse has heard with a British accent like his own. He's mildly impressed by her immediate willingness to help look for Delysia and to step in the middle of a fight between two hard-headed (and fire-wielding!) dogs. Considered an acquaintance.
Azzy: Am I Honestly The Only One Who Can Understand You? It appears that Alphonse can understand Azzy's "zuu"s and "ril"s when he actually means to talk, and so he acts as his translator. He's quickly grown fond of the boy (and his drawings) and has recently decided to look out for him as he does for Delysia. Considered a friend. • Third Meeting, Scribbles and Cheese, Shampoo
Nicanor Katsaros: Daft Little Thing Alphonse overheard Nicanor yelling at Azzy and was about to intervene, until he realized that the Victini meant to apologize to him. He's very suspicious and rather disdainful of Nicanor's attitude... especially his habit of calling everyone his 'minions'. Considered an acquaintance. • First Meeting, Second Meeting
Caim: T... t-that Arcanine Encountered in the hallways, Caim was curious about Alphonse's outfit "making all that noise". Alphonse is distrustful of him and certain comments he's made, but more than that, he's terrified of Caim. The first time he saw the Arcanine was when he fought Roekan, and fire abilities really don't help Alphonse's fear... Considered an... object of terror? • First Meeting
Liadan: Bloody Sneasels Alphonse asked "Miss Lee" to help carry Roscielle to his room after her injury, since he was unable to carry her himself, but Roscielle's reluctance to show Lee her own room -- and Lee's irritating habit of calling him "Fairy Boy" while mocking his accent -- makes him dislike her. Considered an annoyance. • First Meeting
Nigel Monday: Overly Friendly Umbreon Though Alphonse readily commiserated over their shared 'Pokemon experiment' status, he is still slow to trust Nigel. Admittedly, he doesn't mind Nigel's laidback nature; perhaps he even envies it. At the very least, he isn't quite as terrified or suspicious of him as he is of Caim. Considered an acquaintance. • First Meeting
Ingway Faeson: Male Nurse With The Pretty Hair Encountered briefly while Alphonse was cleaning the floors, Ingway asked him a couple of off-handed questions before leaving him alone. During their second meeting, Alphonse was half-conscious; Delysia had called Ingway over to clean him up and stop his hand from bleeding. Considered an acquaintance.
