It has been thirty years after Ragnarök; the apocalyptic conflict that signified the end of the Jotunn and Aesir. Fire swept the lands, as the Aesir and Jotunn went to their assigned fates, killing each other on the fields of battle. The Norn, however, were wrong in their predictions for they did not forsee the mortal races' intrusion upon Ragnarok. Aesir and Jotunn alike were laid low by heroes. This left both factions in a state of confusion.
Ragnarök, afterall, did not go as was foretold. So what else could the Norn be wrong about? Half of the Aesir and half of the Jotun survived, with both groups retreating to their strongholds of Asgard and Jotunheim, respectively and began to plan the next stages in their war against each other.
The mortal races survived reasonably well, though many major cities were shattered when Surtr set Fire to the world to renew it. Alfar, Svartalfar, and Man alike were spared by the Flames through various means. Some cities survived through powerful rune magic reinforcing their walls and protecting their inhabitants. Others survived by sheer virtue of being merely out of the way. Many smaller towns and villages were similarly ignored by the great cleansing flame of Surtr's blade. Others, however, were not so lucky. Many were reduced to ash and kindling by the flames, only populated by ghosts and dragkhir.
With the Flames of War dying down from Ragnarok... things seem to be returning to peace. However, whispers of War are being breathed in the east. A new prophet has begun to stir the flames of war once again.
DC-Can it be resurrected...?
