Soon they would fine them. Karia could sense it but, traveling with pups had proven difficult. They weren't as strong and, wanted food or to rest every hour. They had just started weaning her precious little ones and, they were of course super curious of the world around them but, Karia wanted them to finish this journey soon. Danger could lie behind every twist..every turn and shadow could hold dangerous things. "Come my children keep up, I can smell your aunt! We are so close!" Tail wagging Karia sped up her pace making the pups and, Osun speed up too, they had to get here before it became too late.

Aria whimpered and turned to peek at her father giving him a large pouting look. "Papa..why is mommy hurrying? My paws are gonna fall off!" Whining the young little female went right back to padding along behind her mother her nose close enough to brush the tip of Karia's tail. Her mother had always been a kind wolf but, today she had been so strict it just made Aria whine and pout. Why did they need to hurry? Surely their aunt would stop once she smelled them coming or, she would hurry to greet them. Right? The pup just wanted to laze about in the sunshine..to explore and, run with her sisters and brother. Yet here they were in a nice neat line listening to their mother talk about an aunt they had never met, about cousins they would get to play with once they made it. Sure it sounded nice but, all this walking..Aria wished her new cousins would come to them.

Pausing for a moment Karia sniffed a packs borders unsure about the scent..it smelled slightly old like it had been a while since someone had patrolled the borders. Casting a worried look over her pups she looked back to meet Osun's eyes. "I will go ahead. If I'm not back before the sunsets find a place to rest with the pups. I need to know if she's here but, I won't endanger the pups..if this pack is still present." Nudging Aria back she moved forward deep into the packs land..yet she heard no wolves..she smelled the faint tinges of them but, as before they were old scents. Faded and muted scents that meant the pack had either left willingly or had been taken over. Could Mocca and Symmy truly over throw a pack? When new fresher scents wafted to Karia's searching nose the wolfess paused her heart suddenly hammering happily. With a quick look around she tipped her head back to let loose a soft delicate howl into the beautiful orange tinged sky. The sun would set soon, her howl was one of greeting and, one that told Osun to come with their pups. To come and, meet Karia's beloved sibling. To come meet their future family.

Osun glanced around, he'd known of the plans Mocca had before he'd followed Karia to where she'd given birth, he'd been worried, very worried about what would happen and he too was on edge as they ventured closer to the territory. "Hush little one, we have to be quiet for a while ... do you want me to carry you?" he asked, they'd be pretty heavy but he would carry her if she was that sore in her paws. Every time a twig snapped, Osun flinched and his head beat like crazy, once or twice he's almost had his teeth bared but had been embarrassed by a group of deer making their way to wherever it was they were going, the small herd seemed to know that the group of wolves had no interest in hunting at the moment.

Dilkara whined herself and caught up with her sister, "Mama.. why are we going so fast, i'm tired and hungry and daddy is being all silly and jumping at shadows...." she didn't add that he was making her nervous with his jumping about, it made her think that there was something out there to be afraid of, but Mommy wasn't scared.. or she didn't seem to be, so she stayed nearer to the white wolf. She knew her mother was excited about rejoining Aunty Symmy and she'd been told that she had an uncle Mocca and that they were the leaders of the pack, Dilkara was too young to know exactly what that meant really but she knew she was excited ... but she was so tired and her paws were sore from so much walking.

Osun drew to a halt as Karia paused, his hackles rose at the older scents on the markers but was relieved to find that they WERE old, which meant that if nothing else there was no mass of wolves to mark the territory anymore. His mind did wander to the possibility of stragglers hoping to find an easy kill though. "Alright Karia, it's best if you go on ahead she'd know your howl better, i'll find them a den now, they need to rest a little" he said, noting how exhausted the pups were. Barely weaned and they'd already travelled more that he'd thought they could have. He was proud of them, and proud of Karia, he hoped with all his heart that Mocca and Symetric were there, and safe. "Alright pups, stay with me, mommy's just going to find Aunty Symmy, and we're going to have an adventure to find somewhere to rest, but it has to be safe, like the old tree... remember?" he said to all five pups, he hoped they'd be excited about the game and not scared of the strange scents surrounding them.

Devika hung back, she'd been trailing the pair and their pups for a long while now, always careful to hide her scent from even Osun, her father. She noted the scents around and her fur bristled, the old smell wasn't a pleasant one and it made her blood run cold a little but it was fading and she knew that if there was a new pack here, like she'd overheard on the rare days she'd been able to get close enough to listen, that those rotten scents would soon vanish. She shivered and curse as Osun and the pups began heading her way, she backtracked as much as she could to circle round and stay behind them, but one of them was bound to pick on on her scent sometime soon.

Morkan heard the soft howl, "Mamma!" he cried from just outside the den, he ran in and buried his head under her belly, seeking comfort from the stranger wolf's howl, he didn't know it was Karia, he'd never heard her before, he only knew that strange wolves made his parents nervous and always made them usher him and his siblings into the den hurriedly. Mamma, who...who's out there?" he whispered.

Mocca pricked his ears, while he was less attuned to Karia's voice than his mate, he knew it was here and let out his own happy, welcoming howl in return. He laughed to himself as he'd made a kill not that much earlier and there was plenty left to share, the prey in the area not being afraid of wolves much because of the previous pack's habit, they were slow to learn too and often a wolf could get within mere feet of a deer, in full view, before it realised what was happening. "Symmy love, she's here!" he said excitedly to his tawny furred mate, a goofy grin spread on his face, if anything could help Symmy be happy, it was being reunited with Karia. He chuckled at Morkan "That my son, is your Aunt Karia, i don't hear Osun but i'll bet your cousins are there, won't it be fun? .. to meet other pups, they'll be a little older than you though" he said to the trembling pup, trying to reassure him.

Osun heard the howl but he could see how tired the pups were, he was torn between bringing them to Karia, and letting them rest, he sent out a small howl to her, indecision rife in his voice as he did, as it was, Dilkara was already asleep, he sighed and turned to the pups "Come on, lets go find your mother, we'll be able to rest soon" he said, picking Dilkara up by the scruff of her neck, she was so tired that she only barely woke, whimpered then snoozed again as she was being carried. Osun carefully carried her and watched the other four pups as they walked, praying that none of them would misbehave while he was unable to scold them since he carried their sister.

User Image Snoozing lazily against his father's bushy tail, Sediment lolled over as the wolf's howl echoed across the area his family had settled in. It was a chilling howl, and one he himself did not recognize, which immediately made the pup nervous and he rolled himself closer to his father who seemed far more comfortable with the situation at hand.

At his siblings words, Sed perked his ears, though careful to keep his eyes completely closed. Better to give the illusion of sleep than to look weak in a terrifying situation. He quickly picked up that he was not at all alone in the fear he held, and that seemed to soothe the beating of his heart just a bit. But what really did the trick was his father's excited tone, and the realization that his long awaited cousins would soon be here.

Nervousness quickly flooded Sed's system once again, and he put on a strong act of 'waking' from his slumber. Wincing as soon as he had fluttered his eyes open, the pup stretched out his front paws painfully, the arthritic cracks causing the pup to flinch as he did so. Looking up to his father with a faux smile, Sed wagged his tail playfully and with quite a bit of effort tapped his father with his paw.

"Do you think they'll like me Daddy?"

Embarrassed by his own question, the pup dipped his head towards the ground, as though he had quickly found something more interesting to hold his attention.

"Do you think - they'll want to play with me?"

The emphasis on Sed's mention of play was strong, he knew his father understood his limitations, and he hoped his father's answer would be a proud yes. But in the same breath, he feared that his father would respond with a no, or an even worse answer 'I don't know.'

User ImageOnly a few paces away from the safe eye of his mother and father, Jaguar was staring dramatically up a tree trunk. He had been playing a rather excellent game of “I’m gonna getcha” with a squirrel, and then it had scaled this brown-barked behemoth and gone out of sight among the branches. Alternating between balancing himself against it with his forepaws, hind paws on the ground, to try to see up to where the squirrel was, and backing up to take running leaps at it and scrabbling with his paws in an attempt to imitate his reluctant playmate, Jaguar had been having a very good bit of fun. Then he heard a howl, and then daddy howled, and so, tail wagging, he threw back his head and attempted to howl too.

“Oooo ooo oooooooo!” he keened, his enunciation made trickier by the huge grin on his face. “M’I doin’ it, daddy? Did the other guy hear me? Who are we talking to? Can I go see him?” Of course he had no idea that the first howl had been female. Racing after his timid brother, he bounced rambunctiously, jumped over that of Morkan that still protruded from under mommy, tripped and fell, and promptly began to laugh. “Momma I am soooo excited. I’m gonna go find the howly howler, ‘kay? Kay!” Then without waiting for permission, he darted off again in a random direction as fast as his little pup legs would take him. “Hellooooo ooo oooooooooo!” He squeaked again, attempting a second howl as he ran. Luckily for his parents, he was still small and slow enough to be easy to intercept when he raced off like this.

User ImageSymmy was grooming her albino fluff of a daughter when her ears lifted to the howl, her face moved up as quickly as a mother doe. Her ears pricked up and saw Morkan pour in. Mocca's words answering a hollow question she didn't really register. Her heart pounded happily, she loved her sister and had been worried a bear or something took her. Nosing both her son and mate she ascended from her den and gave Karia a howl of her own.
Her tunnel vision now blocking the escaping sounds of Jaguar leaving. She descended into the forests, in a quick run. Which from her small form..

Was very quick. Symetric was known for her speed. Moving into the area Karia was she saw her white sister and yarped happily. Tail wagging. "KARIA!" She yarped again and then stopped shy of her sister and nuzzled her happily, licking at her cheek. "I thought something got you and you didn't come home and couldn't find me becau.." she then went off with a nervous rant when she finished she perked her ears to a puppy that had snuck off from Ossun. Bane's face lifted at his aunt. "Hello Aunty-face." He peeped. Big wide brown eyes staring at his tawny aunt.

With that Symmy looked stunned at the face of her owl-esque nephew. Thinking of how it was not to long ago the sisters were so small, and crying about their family. Or toppling over one another in the fight to find a mouse to hunt.

--

Snowe watched her mother leave in a break neck speed. She sat outside of the den and squinted at the bright light that poured into her poor red pupils. Flexxing her ear to her father she whined. "Daddy.. Jaguar got away againnn.." She whimpered. It was weird to see her mother leave without scolding her brother first.

Mocca was about to reply to Sediment and Jaguar when Symmy nosed him then shot out of the den like she'd been bitten, while he knew she'd be excited to see her sister, he hadn't realised just how intense her reaction would be. He smiled and trotted ver and grabbed Jaguar by the scruff, taking him back into the den. "Now Jaguar.. how many times do me and your mother have to tell you NOT to run off like that... it's too dangerous out there.. now STAY .... your punishment is to be the last to say hello to your cousins and aunt now .. what were you thinking" he scolded, sounding more sincere than he actually felt. He knew the pups were excited, but he could't allow any of them to run off like that. He sighed and lay down in front of the den, still being cautious. Turning finally to Sediment he licked the top of his son's head, gently. "I'm sure they'll love to play, but you need to be careful, they're going to be bigger than you and don't know that you can't play too rough" he said gently "but they'll adore you i'm sure" he added, pulling Morkan and Jaguar and Snowe into him and nuzzling them all affectionately, licking each in turn.

Morkan whined when he father pulled him into a family nuzzle, complaining against the contact "daddy ... i'm cleeeeean" he grumbled, giving Sediment a comforting cheek lick "its ok Seddy, i'll make sure they know how to play properly" he reassured him.

Osun went to try and catch up with Bane, but he'd run off to Karia, the other pups following at heel he also closed the gap between the females, himself and the pups "hello Symetric, you look well, i see you've already met Bane" he chuckled after gently putting Dilkara down. "The sleeping beauty here is Dilkara".

Devika stayed in the shadows, her darker pelt blending and keeping her hopefully hidden, she didn't want to reveal her presence yet, but he knew she'd have to soon, or risk being corned by scouts of this pack her father was bringing her newest siblings into.

There! Seeing the sudden shock of tawny colored fur made Karia's heart leap once more. The howl of Mocca and, then Symmy warmed her from the inside out. Laughing happily the wolfess buried her nose into Symmy's fur taking in her familiar scent. It felt so good. So wonderful to be back with family. Tail beating the air her yellow orbs flickered to Osun, then to her son. "Now now..this is Aunt Symmy..you shouldn't wander away from your father Bane. It could be dangerous." For once however Karia didn't have any real conviction in her voice..no real anger. She just felt too excited but, that all faded the instant an unfamiliar scent met her nose. Mothering instincts going haywire Karia turned and,m stepped from the group snarling loudly the fur along her back standing on edge. Someone...someone dared get near her pups..near her sister. Just because she didn't see the wolf did not mean the other wasn't there..somewhere. "Osun! Someone is nearby..close..I smell them."

Aria huffed unhappily when her mommy left and, then her daddy once again changed direction. It took a lot of focus for the little pup to keep up at her fathers heels but, the instant she got to see not only her mother but, her mysterious aunt the pup sped up. "Mommy! Aunt Symmy!" Squeaking and yipping the now waggling bundle of fur smiled up at her aunt and, then her mother. Bane had snuck ahead but, her mother seemed distracted just a moment after scolding him. Pricking her ears Aria wondered what Karia smelled. "Whats that mommy? I dun smell nothin!" Frowning Aria plopped near her aunt's paws then took a huge whiff of the air. Still not used to scenting out things she felt utterly disappointed..what did mommy smell that she didn't? Pouting fully she tried to protest but, her mother had already snatched her up by the scruff of her neck.
Karia gave a low warning rumble towards the strange scent "It's a stranger Aria..and no unknown wolf can come near you pups or I will rip their throat out!" Herding all her pups closer she spoke swiftly. "Osun..can you handle this? I will take the pups with Symmy and, perhaps Mocca will come aid you..just in case.." Worry clearly filled her eyes along with extreme stress. The journey had taken it's toll, being this tense, this on edge though Karia had tried to hide it, the feelings and worry now rushed fourth. "Pups come with me..we will go meet your cousins and, uncle. Won't that be fun? Symmy..I know we need to catch up but, I..can't stay in the open much longer..it's driving me mad..especially with that..unknown wolfs scent so close. Will you lead the way?" She longed to spend time with her beloved and, only sister but, it would have to wait. Scooping her daughter up by the scruff of the neck Karia moved a few steps forward her fur still bristling. Who would dare get near her pups and family? They were either stupid or dangerous, in her mind those were the only two options that fit.
PostPosted: Mon Jun 20, 2011 8:21 am

Sed sighed to himself as his Father cuddled him into a tight embrace. Everyone was bigger than he was, and much stronger! The thought discouraged him more than he wanted to admit, but he tried his best to hide it as he buried himself deeper into his Father's fur.

"I hope you're right. But i'm sure Jaguar will love them! Right Jaguar?!"

Sed yipped playfully as he thumped his hyper brother with his tail. He knew how crazy his brother was. He'd attempted to play with him a few times, but keeping up had proved to be a HUGE problem. He was usually much more content to sit around under his Parent's watchful eyes and be safe rather than sorry. Where as Jaguar was more the risk taker.

Noting his Mother's quick disappearance, Sed drove his attention back to Mocca and asked with noted impatience. "Does that mean they'll be here soon Daddy?"

Jaguar's paws paddled ineffectually at the air as he was lifted up up and away from the ground, and that in itself was almost entertaining enough to distract from the fact that he was being scolded. As he was placed back down to earth, he grinned cheekily and shamelessly up at his father, unmoved by his punishment. "M'so excited daddy," he whispered, still grinning, as if he hadn't just been told off. Still, he did stay put, so he'd clearly gotten the message even if his glee was unabated.

"Don't worry, Sedda Sedda Seddy!" Jaguar exclaimed when he heard that their cousins might play rough. "Nobody gonna wrassle my brother! I'll be like - rar! And - rrr! And - !" The pup's many demonstrations of how he would defend his siblings were interrupted by the affectionate cleaning being applied by his father's tongue. "Ew!" He squeaked, but his giggles afterwards and the unstoppable wag of his tail made it quite clear he enjoyed the fond caress. Angling his face so that he could continue to talk to Sediment while getting wolf kisses from his daddy, Jaguar fed off the other pup's enthusiasm and shouted: "I will love them and play with them and they will think we are the COOLEST!!"

User Image Isaura made a point of staying near her father during this entire ordeal. Her paws ached, her stomach told her she was hungry and her body wanted to rest. And yet they had kept moving. Even when she whined and whimpered. Momma had seemed so much on edge, not that she showed it much, Isaura just felt it. And so did her father, whom seemed to jump at nearly anything that moved. But he, was daddy, her daddy. And being the daddies girl she is she never strayed to far from him.

"Wheres momma goin? why is she leavin us? Daddy I'm hungry..." she whimpered her endless worries and questions as they went to find a place to rest, though only it seemed for to short a while as Karia's beautiful howl filled the air. Isaura couldn't help but Yip a bit at that noise as Osun picked up Dilkara to move. "Daddy... Bane just ran off..." she mumbled in a tattle-tale way as they followed after her daring brother...

"MOMMA MOMMA MOMMA!!!!" she squeaked and Yipped when they got closer to the small grouping of wolves present. She was shocked at the brown coloring of Aunt Symmy... only used to the grey tones of their familys fur. Suddenly she was shy, she didn't know this wolf... regardless if she smelt somewhat like family, so she tucked herself under Osun, peaking up from under him. "Daddy..." she whimpered when Karia started growling and hearding them away. "Daddy no... I don't wanna leave daddy Momma!!! Whats that other wolf smell, why do we have to leave daddy! Mommma...!" she whined her mothers name, filled with worries she didn't know how to vocalize. even as she worried over her father she nuzzled up against Karia and followed. Hoping that Osun would be with them soon, and very much unsure of the situations they were in.
