Sounds a lot like, if we can get a constant stream of money coding new hats, why invest big bucks and risk into a year development that doesn't even have a market for hats.
“We now work from data we get back from our customers, reading into what they actually do.”
Like paying real money for hats, ouch.
Not looking hopeful for EP3, not at all.
But, he may be referring to whatever comes after episode 3, as Newell has previously stated that episode 3 would not be the end of the Half Life continuity.

Well, this is... interesting. I want to play Episode 3 (hopefully without a hat function). Been waiting on how the story would turn out... :/

I read that there probably won't be an EP3, instead it will be HL3.
So they're probably going to take even longer with it and make HL3 a full game, and instead of episodes they'll either make each game completely seperate or add DLC instead.

I really want to play EP3,apparently that's not happening.Maybe instead of an episode,they would make a full game.I mean,some of us played from the very first Half-Life game made,to the end of HL2 Episode 2.And I bet everyone still craves more for Half-Life whoever played this amazing,action-packed game that changed us all.In my opinion,the Half-Life series,will always be better than Call of Duty or Gears of War in the whole universe that is still expanding.I will say it until the death of me...I am a Half-Life fan.

Either way, I'm pretty sure the next Half Life game will be the last to star Gordon Freeman. Any games after that may not even be called Half Life, as Newell just said the next game wont be the last in the Half Life continuity, not the game series itself.
