The phone rang, he fought with it, and Zac's voice rang out clear across the line:
"YOU ARE SO DEAD!"
Not exactly reassuring. Ever hesitated a moment, blinking down at the mobile as the younger man hung up on him, his head tipped to the side and expression wobbling, like he couldn't decide if he should fall into laughter or worry. Someone else might have let it drop, given Zac time to cool off and calm down, but....well. Ever wasn't someone else.
Instead he decided to take a risk, wobbling for just a moment before shifting into uniform -- and moments after Zac hung up on him, Ilmenite would slam into being beside him. Not exactly graceful; he was panting as bad as ever, with his shoulder bag dangling from one hand.

Zac swore, startled by the sudden appearance and then whirled to make sure the door was lock before turning back on the uniformed intruder. "TOAST" He said bluntly.
The stack of library books might have been a rather distinct clue as to WHY Ever was toast as well, never mind the follow up. "BODICE RIPPERS? -REALLY- on MY LIBRARY ACCOUNT?!"
"WHY....seriously, were you just trying to embarrass the hell out of me cause it worked, now Tony things that I rented... "Jolly Roger" and and.....Skin on Skin"... I mean who the hell READS that!?... Hell who WRITES that."

A blink down at Zac and then an easy shift -- and he resettled into human clothes, with the bag plunked at his feet, a rather unconcerned grin flashing almost immediately across his features. He was still flushed with the effort, shaky with the exhaustion of teleportation, but taking things relatively in stride.
"Hm. I didn't check." The words came heavy, panting, as he stooped slowly down to a crouch. A quick fish through his bag, and he came up with the first of the books, turning it over in his hands to consider.
"J. L. Langley." Way too serious, too sober, his expression failing to be innocent as he offered the paperback to Zac. At least the cover on this one wasn't bad. Just very, very gay.

Zac stared at the book like he'd just been offered a venomous snake. "You DID take them out!!" He said and fished for his cell phone to take a picture and then stopped himself. Photo evidence not just of Ever with the book, but Ever in his ROOM was probably mutually damning.
...then the cover hit him... "... thats two GUYS." He said blankly. Like the very idea that there might actually be Male-on-Male bodice rippers never quite sank in before that point. "...I don't want the damned thing I want you to return it!" He said waving his hands emphatically.

Taking a picture certainly wouldn't have been a bright idea. The second the phone came up, Ever held the book up toward his face and flashed an ever brighter smile, more or less posing. He might have even been disappointed when Zac lowered it again.
"What, would it be better if it were two women?" He wiggled the book a little at Zac, and wiggled his eyebrows as well. Suggestive. Amused. Unashamed. "I don't know about you, but I'm not really into that."

"You are such a..." Whatever he was going to say next was lost to utter fluster. "NO I'm not into that... I didn't know YOU were into THOSE" He pointed at the book again like it would jump at him and infect him with the 'romance' disease.' or something of the sort.
"WHY on MY account though!? Get your own goddamned library card!"

"I have one." Which, of course, didn't answer the question of 'why' -- but the teasing grin across his mouth probably took care of that one. Ever rose to stand, bag abandoned as he eased in closer to Zac. One step, two, and then he was close enough to invade Zac's personal space, nabbing his hand and pressing the book gently into his palm.
"It's not bad." He struggled, fought, trying to pull his features back into control, some semblance of innocence. He managed to fake it. Terribly. Alas. "Consider it research."

"RESEARCH!?" he boggled and shook his head emphatically. "Research for Wh..." He started to ask and then looked appalled. "I know what people DO.." He flustered. "I do have things like 'internet' and 'Google' you know!"
"Everyone knows bodice rippers are just exersises in thinly veiled use of thesauruses! Their like...Fan fictions that got published!!'
Not that he'd ever -read- one to confirm this, but prior to today he wouldn't have even considered touching one. He stared at the book again and back to Ever blushing enormously. "You fain innocence the way the fellow two doors down does sobriety...BADLY. WHY my account, and what the -hell- do you think I could learn from....from 'this'" He held the book up pinched between two fingers like the zip-lock left after from walking your dog in city limits.

He did feign it badly -- and as Zac spoke, it crumpled away to more grinning. At least it was affectionate grinning. He not only made Zac fumble, stutter and blush, but he liked getting the reaction. As Zac glared, holding up the book, Ever tipped his head to press a kiss against the pink edge of his cheek.
"You could maybe learn to control the blushing some." Oh, he was laughing. Ever, at this point, had to be expecting a good slap for that. Obviously he wouldn't mind it. He was unapologetically who he was.

"Maybe I -like- blushing!" He counted, it wasn't a good counter, and he compensated by getting a better hold of the book and swatting at Ever with it. At least it was better than a slap since he didn't aim with the spine of it.
"BESIDES..." he added and waved it more. "TONY knows! He -saw- them on my account!!! He sure as hell thinks -I- checked them out! He went into this whole "Not that I think anything is wrong with them" thing! ...and...And he was VERY nearly laughing! WHY MY ACCOUNT!? This...this is ... I mean god GOOGLE was bad enough and this is...this is..." He stuttered and stammered to a stop unable to properly describe the horror he currently held in his hand.

There: a proper laugh as Zac smacked at him, Ever ducking appropriately, easing back a step to let him be. Or, at least, to let him be for the moment. Later...
"So what? Why? It's a book." He shook his head, dropping his hands to look at Zac, to make sure he wasn't going to get beaten down more. To make sure Zac wasn't really that furious, that he wasn't going to freak out or run off. "It's just Tony. I mean, s**t, I kissed Tony once, and he's never said a word about it..."

His jaw dropped, Ever.... kissed.... TONY?!
Ever was -attracted- to Tony?! Well, hell every girl that ever made their way into the library, or well, nearly every... was attracted to Tony. It wasn't like Tony was BAD looking it was just that....well, he was the Librarian. Zac thought of him like he thought of the books, part of the library and...well.
Kind of a trap for Virgo if it came down to it.
"W...Well of course he didn't say anything he probably dosen't want to parade it around the way that I don't want the books!! I mean you kissed HIM not his dog...or...the...the other...young men checking out!" He said stumbling over the words and the very thought of it.
Very much the thought of it... He stared at the book and then back to Ever.
"That still doesn't explain why MY account... or why you're trying to make me hemorrhage through my -face- by trying to get me to read these." He folded his arms -staring-.
Definatly not forgiven but not really as furious as the previous wants to string Ever up by his toes, after all he was rather on the front of 'oh s**t what do I do now' as far as anything interpersonal went.

Zac was learning, getting used to the troubles associated with his newest Captain -- and with opening up, perhaps, to someone fairly careless with feelings. Ever had his own kind of armor. Instead of shutting down, he laughed and shrugged everything off. In general, it seemed more effective.
Right now, for example. Zac working himself up and Ever struggling to smother more laughter, mostly failing. He spread his hands, helplessly, shifting on the balls of his feet and trying to decide if he could step back in.
"...because I like it when you're all riled up." At least his tone was warm instead of mean, and he eased forward as he said it.

"You sure you don't just like giving Tony a good laugh?" He said grumpily... maybe just a little jealous, not that he'd EVER admit it, no pun intended. But he didn't shove Ever off either.
He heavy compromising sigh. "If I read ONE...will you take them all back and tell Tony it was a joke?" He lifted his chin and set his jaw to try and imply he meant business.
"...I should make you answer questions about them..." He added darkly like it was intended as a veiled threat as well, though seconds later he realized Ever would probably be laughing his tail off about any questions he might have.

That was the entirely wrong thing to say, considering the suggestive shift in Ever's expression, the raised eyebrow, the crooked twist of his mouth and the laughing edge in his eyes. He held up his hands again, struggling for something serious and not quite able to get a grip on it.
"...Zac, I'll answer any questions you'd like." A beat; long enough to let that sink in, to let Zac go darker. Long enough to make him regret saying it before Ever swung the hammer in for a final strike. "I'll even give demonstrations if you're that interested."
