About T'rel

Name: T'rel (Formerly Tarel)
Age: 25 turns
Former Craft: Harper
Physical Description: Tarel has thick golden curls that seem to contrast with his narrow facial features. He has large brown eyes like vats of chocolate. His skin has a certain pallor to it, but it isn't one that makes him unseemly nor enough that he appears sickly. In fact the boy, despite his thin build, has a certain air to him. He has a flare for charm, though he could hardly be considered handsome. He has an upturned nose and boyish features altogether. His fingers were once thin and nimble, but now thick and caloused from playing stringed instruments. His legs appear too long for his body, causing the young man to be taller than most of his peers.

Personality: Having been harperbred, T'rel has a certain love for news. Unwittingly, he has become a source of gossip for those he considers friends. He is an avid talker; and will assume friendship with almost anyone he meets. He tends to be gullible and though he is constantly warned not to trust everything he hears, he tends to do just that. He wants to see the good in people more than anything else, sometimes failing to see reality. Trusting and open to a fault, it is quite likely that once he is started talking, one would not be able to stop him until he gave his entire life's story--with great dramatic effect. He is fond of telling stories, and with the addition of a dragon or two, a beautiful daughter of a Lord Holder, and a quick mind, T'rel believes he can make any story interesting.

One thing that must be known about T'rel is that he is a flirt. A terrible, dramatic flirt at that. He finds great pleasure acting as if he takes everything to heart; bringing much more emotion into a situation than is needed. He never seems to care much who he's flirting with; as long as they are human, and female. Due to this, T'rel has a very--well--inflated view of himself. (Perhaps this is what makes him such a fine bronzerider. He's not one of those men who say 'love me, I've a bronze). He believes he is Pern's gift to women, and so, spends most of his free time with them when not practicing his guitar. (More recently he has spent his time with Ky't strictly. He loves her very much indeed; and though Zelith still flies greens, this young man never seems interested in others. Quite unlike how he was when he was younger. He is still a flirt, however. He enjoys telling female candidates that they will Impress the gold. He likes inspiring them and boosting their confidence. His great flaw is definitely in that he's vain.

He genuinely cares about what other people think about him. If he feels that someone does not like him, he will confront them, perhaps to inquire as to why. With his mindset as it is, he will not willingly admit to having any flaws; and thus possibly does not see when he upsets others. He is sensative and has a need to be accepted by all; though he generally expects them to due to his vanity. It upsets him greatly when he discovers that someone does not enjoy his company; he is most certainly an attention seeker, and will at all times, strive to be the center of attention.

He tends to be clumsy, animatedly talking with his hands--which often leads to something falling or--well. It usually ends up with the man apologizing profusely in both cases, hoping he didn't cause a bruise.

T'rel is friendly to a fault, and loves to tease his friends; and naturally assumes everyone's his friend. He might not be the best ever--but at least he knows how to be a good friend, and that's what matters, right?

T'rel's matured quite a bit in five turns. He has the air of a young man being forced to fit his role too soon. He was Weyrleader at the age of twenty. Thread fell and took the lives of many of his folk. His Weyrwoman disappeared to Fort not long afterward. Saddened by this, the young man hardened his heart. He is less likely to tease. Less likely to flirt.

Just as talkative as ever, however. Good luck getting T'rel to quiet down. He's developed a certain adventurous streak as well. He will tell stories, perhaps, about flights and fighting Thread.

T'rel's Friends

Ky't - He first met her when she was brought to the Harperhall from the Weyr. They are roughly the same age, and were in lessons together. However, it wasn't until T'rel (then Tarel) was Searched and brought to the Weyr that he realized his feelings for his fellow candidate. They Impressed their first standing, Zelith and Rath. Zelith flew Rath her first flight. They were Weyrmated until Ky't's death. T'rel has made no move to be romantically involved with anyone else. Most suspect he is still in love with the former Weyrwoman's spirit. He does not allow Zelith to participate in flights, if it can be helped.

Rhiyn/R'yn - A Weyrbrat T'rel met when he was first Searched at the age of fifteen turns. T'rel got to know the boy better as he became a Weyrling. Even when T'rel had become a wingrider, his friendship with Rhiyn didn't collapse as expected. Through adulthood, their friendship has only florished. Despite the hard times T'rel has gone through (losing Ky't), R'yn has been there for him. When R'yn became Weyrleader, T'rel couldn't have been more proud. He firmly believes that R'yn will lead the Weyr well (Better than he did, at least).

N'rin - A friend.

T'rin - Formerly one of T'rel's favorite candidates, T'rin Impressed a bronze. He'd better be careful. Once he graduated from weyrling lessons, T'rel was sure they would see talent. He was right!

Aislin - Now A'lin, Aislin was once a playmate of T'rel's. Roughly the same age, they were often together as children in the Harperhall. A'lin Impressed a brown.

Neri - T'rel finds this girl to be amusing. She teases Rhiyn, and that's always to the benefit of others. Impressed a green. Another one of T'rel's former favorite candidates, Neri transferred as a Weyrling to Igen and was not heard from for two turns. Now that Bayeth is fully grown, T'rel worries that he'll have to keep Zelith away from her. They're friends; but T'rel feels at times that he doesn't know Neri as well as he once did. She grew up in those two turns. And so did he.


Kaila - T'rel likes this former healer apprentice far better than her brother. She is kind, smart and polite. He'll try to make things as easy for her as possible. Greenrider

R'nan - Impressed a brown. Formerly the youngest candidate in the Weyr, having Impressed at twelve turns. T'rel doesn't know what to think about him yet.

Ticene - T'rel is interested by this girl--he's not quite sure why. Now he knows! Certainly, Ticene has become a wonderful Weyrwoman. She is talented and will lead the Weyr gracefully.

L'fir - T'rel was surprised when this boy Impressed a blue, though he knows the dragons know best.

Lavi - A friend. T'rel would like talking to Lavi more, if he wasn't so worried about what T'nus would think. Despite the fact that T'rel has no attraction toward Lavi, he fears the man would take even the most innocent of conversations the wrong way.

T'nus - T'rel won't pretend to fail to understand why T'nus feels the need to be so protective of those he loves. Still, T'rel would like to become T'nus' friend. For a simple misunderstanding, they certainly have quite a bit of enmity between them.

Tiar - A friend? T'rel doesn't understand what went on between them. He wants to be friends, but she pushes him away?

Tyila - A greenrider T'rel helped save. They're friendly.

Cesa - She's been T'rel's most trusted confidant since he was Searched at the age of fifteen. The then candidate had made the mistake of attempting to sneak pies. That was how he met Mecesa. The two, roughly the same age, became fast friends. T'rel counts her as one of his closest friends--and it's likely they'll always remain that way. T'rel's grown closer to Cesa lately; spending long candlemarks with her if at all possible. They see very little of each other now. T'rel won't say what happened, bur something did.

Lute - Best. Friends. Forever. T'rel's known Lute since he was nine turns old, just starting out as an apprentice. Though many may believe they're in a blooming relationship, both will deny this. Words will never change what they are--but perhaps a flight will. (Apparently he was wrong; a kiss changed everything between them. They've been together for some time now.


Tirynne - Friend? The baby's only a few months old, but T'rel's rather fond of her. He hopes to have the chance to teach her
