The smokey black wolf, Sheesh, could not believe his current predicament. His body twisted as his gold eyes peered at his peppered back end. Numerous briars had planted themselves firmly into his posterior's fur. By complete chance he had happen to sit on a thicket of them.

"Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeesh," he growled to himself in exasperation. Could this get any worse? A beautiful day had enticed the wolf to go on a short trip. Just to explore and relax. Countless experiences had taught him always to look before plopping his posterior. Today however he had been distracted by something. A butterfly fluttering or a cloud passing over; he couldn't remember now.

Today, like many other days before it, Sirka had decided to take a round about their small territory. She's not necessarily looking for anything, really, but she is young, yet, and sometimes grows restless when there is nothing to do. And, so, as she heads along the south end of her usual path, she scents another wolf-- a male, and very recent.

Her ears perk forward, and she pauses, turning her nose in the direction of the scent, and begins a measured, and cautious, trot in that direction. She may be young, still, but she isn't afraid of a fight, if that is what this leads to.

As she gets closer, she slows down, moving with silky steps toward the briar patch-- and pauses, still as stone when her ears catch the sound of the wolf so nearby. It seems, she notes with some amusement, that he is very much not in a position to fight even if that had been his intention. Rather, it seems he may be in need of some help. Sirka considers whether or not to leave him to his demise, but decides she is having a good day and steps out of the shadow of a tree, revealing herself.

"It serves you well, I think. You should be more cautious when wandering into another wolf's lands." Her tone is more amused than anything, though, and doesn't seem like a threat-- though the smirk on her lips is certainly sharp enough. Though, technically, he isn't exactly in their territory --- but still close enough for a more aggressive wolf to attack, anyway.

"I usually am. Today I just went for a stroll to enjoy the beautiful day, not harming or bothering anybody. Got distracted by something." He growled as he turned his head toward her. Just his luck to have a sassy kid show up. As much as he wanted to start pulling briars out, he didn't want to leave himself unprotected. With no idea what she was up to or even if she was alone caution was the best option.

"You're local I take it?" He eyed her. Probably not his type. Good thing, he thought. She'll probably drive her mate to madness. Sheesh twitched his tail in the vain hope of dislodging several uncomfortable briars. It wouldn't do to get agitated from being poked in certain places, then snap at the kid and have her running off to mama.

She laughs quietly-- a low, smokey sound that is very much not pup-like. It carries in it a sense of her earlier amusement, as well as a sort of tolerable-patience.

"Distracted enough to sit your a** in a briar-bush? Whatever you seen must have been absolutely fascinating." Her red eyes spark with sarcasm, though her tone remains cool and calm-- almost detached. "You must be rather uncomfortable. I won't attack you if you wish to, ah.... amend the situation?" The smirk around her lips widens a little, and, to show that she doesn't mean to harm him, she sits down, curling her tail languidly around her front paws in a perfect show of calm. Still, her ears remain perked toward him.

One ear swivels to the side as a rabbit hops out of the bushes, stops in fright at the sight of them, and the dives into another bush. "Hmm... yes, I live in this part of the woods, along with another. I often travel this route, securing the border. Though I do not often run into wolves stuck in briar patches."

He huffed. "Yes it was apparently. Maybe when you get older you'll be able to appreciate such things." Sometimes he was glad he lived alone. No annoying pack members and no rowdy kids to bother him. Sheesh twitched his ears at her offer. Privately he wondered what was her ploy.

"Yes I will." Stiffly he walked away from the briars. Not to show aggression, but simply to keep the briars from poking him as much as possible. He stopped a good several feet away from the patch and twisted around to begin the long process of removing briars.

He glanced at her, then around at the forest, listening and smelling for signs of another wolf. When all seemed clear, Sheesh looked back to her. "Your boyfriend or something?" He wrinkled his nose. She was sure going to rub that in. "Lucky for them."

Sirka merely smiles at his grumpy comment-- an indulgent, patient sort of smile [though it is laced with a hint of sarcasm]. "Maybe you just don't remember? I hear that happens when wolves get too old..."

As the other wolf turns to begin plucking briars out of his a**, she can't help the widening grin on her features. "I'd offer to help, but I'm not sure that'd be appropriate, considering we just met. Besides.." her smile is coy and she's almost laughing, "watching is far more fun."

But, then, she really does laugh. It's a mixture of his expression, and the tone with which he asks the question that does it, as well as his rather bedraggled and harried expression. When she finally stifles her giggles with a soft snort, she merely shakes her head, "No... No. I do not have a boyfriend. It was my.... adoptive mother, I suppose, although we're more like friends than anything. She's probably napping, this time of day. And she calls me the lazy one!" She snorts, the small smirk returning.

"And what about you, handsome? You all alone, or were your friends so mortified by your clumsiness that they ran off after your unfortunate accident?"

Sheesh snorted. Sheesh, the things younglings come up with. "A wolf is only too old when he can't catch prey anymore. I was surely distracted by briars as you would be should you happen to do the same." The smokey wolf pulled several more out and spit them out on the side opposite to her. Turning back he shook his scruff. "Oh I think not. You'd pull the hairs out or get it all slobbery." I bet the former and you'd enjoy every minute of it, sheesh.

Silently he put up with her laughing as he pulled out more briars. It was sufficient to know he was safe while de-briaring himself. "Ah," he replied simply. Being a loner didn't afford him many friends. Sheesh hoped her adoptive mom wouldn't take the wrong idea with him being here. What a headache that would be; to go right along with his tail ache.

"I'm alone. I don't travel with a pack." Pure and simple.

"I tend to look before I sit." She replies easily, and smirks at him, ignoring the second comment. Though the last catches her attention, and a look of real interest sparks in her eyes, though she doesn't seem surprised, and her sarcasm is telling.

"Why... I'm shocked! A wolf with such a wonderful sense of humor as yourself? Who would guess it." She stands up, stretching languidly, and shakes herself all over before pacing a few steps closer to him.

This close, it's easy to see that she's hardly a pup, anymore. Her body is lithe, and strong, and sleek-- nearing the full prime of an adult wolf, and one who is used to activity. A strong wolf, as she must be to survive when the only other one to hunt with her is Knotwood. Intelligence, too, behind the smirking, mischievous glint in her eyes.

"It must be difficult for a lone wolf. Especially one who forgets to look before sitting." She is obviously not about to let his recent misfortune go so easily, though why she delights in trying to make him so uncomfortable is anyone's guess.

"Eh, I look forward to the day you eat those words. Too bad I wont be around to see your face then." He tossed his head and let his tongue roll out in a silent laugh "You'll think of me that day." That at least would be some comfort when he looked back on this experience.

He twitched his ear at her comment, he didn't think he had much of a humor, then laid them back as she approached closer. Without all the briars removed running would be a slightly painful experience if he had to. "What do you want?" Sheesh watched her closely, unimpressed by her femininity.

"I don't usually have this problem. Chance was just against me today. I like being a lone wolf. It's not difficult for me." His tone implied she might have some troubles if she tried the path of a lone. With her mother there always to protect her and come to her rescue, who knew.

"You're just a bundle of fun, aren't you? Besides, likely the memory of you with thorns stuck in your a** will remind me any time I might otherwise sit without looking-- not that I would in the first place." She sniffs softly in amusement, and narrows her eyes at him as if to study him more closely.

"I don't want anything, really. Except some fun, perhaps. I came on a walk because I was bored, and here I've found you." She laughs, then, a soft, smooth sound. "Far more amusement than I'd hoped to find, actually. But I'm not exactly complaining." Sirka's grin widens a tad, showing of her teeth in a way that completely shatters whatever image of soft-feminity she might have had earlier. No, this gal is definitely all fierce angles, and a wit as sharp as those briar barbs.

"What's your name, anyway, Lone-wolf?" She makes it sound like a title, like something important, but it's obviously not-- not to her. But it doesn't mean she isn't curious about him.

Sheesh snorted. Maybe she was having fun, but he certainly wasn't. Again he reached around to pull them out. It felt like he had finally gotten one side cleared of the pesky and painful things. He turned his attention back to the brightly colored female.

"That's all anyone ever seems to want, sheesh. Fun at someone else's expense. You should be having loads right now." He replied sarcastically. Always pick on the lone guy. Sheesh supposed they just couldn't help it.

"My name?" He gave a feral grin. Now it was payback time. "I see no reason to tell you that; letting you smeer my name to your mother and any wolf you came across."

Sirka laughs again. She seems to do that quite often, actually, despite her rather caustic outlook on life.

"Oh, it's not just you. But I'll take the amusement where I can get it." Her smile is sharp and toothy.

"Grumpy and sensitive, hm? Don't worry, I won't tell anyone about your little accident." She eyes him, and her smirk softens a little more into a smile. "You think I'm an ignorant, foolish girl, don't you? Perhaps it is your lack of sight for more than just the obvious that landed you in such an uncomfortable position. I have no reason to slander you, stranger. Likely we shall never meet again, after this -- lone spirit as you are." Her smile widens a little more into a grin once more.

"You can call me Sirka."

He felt sorry for the critters she came across that became her amusement; which included himself. Why oh why did he have to sit there? Sheesh knew there was a lesson for him to learn here. This wolf was just there to reenforce it. He pondered what he could learn, and how a briar patch would fit in. Had he not been paying enough attention to his surroundings while enjoying his walk? What could happen if you were oblivious to stuff?

Sheesh resisted the urg to look at his backend as the answer hit him. You got hurt. Usually there was something that would hurt you. Gold eyes quickly scanned the area. The black wolf moved quickly into action. He shoulded aside the female if she didn't move out of his way on her own; then pounced.

His paw pinned down the head of a deadly snake. Sheesh sighed in relief. If she'd taken an incareful step she would have been bitten. He twitched his ears and gave a shrug. "I just met you. Not sure what I think of you yet. If I had to give an opinion now it would be any male that chooses you as his mate, should either be very careful or choose someone else."

"My name is Sheesh."
PostPosted: Wed Jul 06, 2011 2:26 pm

Sirka had not, in fact, noticed the snake. And as Sheesh stands to pin it, brushing her out of the way as she does so, blood rushes to her face. Her she was teasing him for not being careful, and she'd nearly gotten bitten. Well, not that she was going to admit it in such a way. Instead, she steps forward, and bites through the body of the creature, killing it quickly, and then looks up at the other wolf with a small smile. "I suppose we've both been a bit lax in our awareness today. Thank you." It's simple, but sincere, and she leaves it at that as she moves to stand a bit more away from him.

"You know, it's been awhile since Knotwood and I have had some company. Would you be interested in staying the evening with us, for dinner? We caught a deer earlier in the day, and it's far more than either of us could hope to eat alone."

Sheesh relaxed slightly as she bit and dispatched the snake. He felt sorry for it, but it would have been his fault if she had been bitten. The black wolf moved off and sat down. "Yes," he said. "Your welcome." It wouldn't do to rub in, and she seemed more friendly now.

He tilted his head as she made her offer. To spend the night, put up with her quick remarks, and that of this unknown Knotwood; yet he would get a free meal and the assureance of a peaceful night's sleep. It sounded like an ideal offer. "That is very generous of you, but I have nothing to offer return."
