Lucian was stalking a small squirrel, one of the "dumber" ones. Less sentient then beings like Diavolos. That was what Karloff had taught him, to try not to kill ones like Diavolos. They were smart, and worthy and for that they should be spared. He wasn't sure he entirely understood the concept, but he'd learned that Karloff was very set on certain rules that he follow and this one was an important one.
Intelligence in life was very hard to come by, and anyone with it should be sparred if it could be helped. It was a good enough reason, but one he would have never understood without Karloff's guidance. Leaping forward quickly, he almost had his teeth into the creature when a bolt of lightening light up the sky. The squirrel squeaked as it ran from Lucian and the storm, leaving him standing there angry and foodless.
