You can google for several other articles about it. By May 31st Tokyo Pop will be shutting down most of it's manga branches. Apparently it's German/European branch is still going to remain open. For how long we don't know. The film and TV branches will remain open apparently.
I don't like to put it this way, but I'm happy. I've personally dealt with Tokyo Pop before attempting to obtain manga. Their customer service was a
nightmare, and we were stuck on backorder for over a
year. Eventually they gave us some BS about "since it took us over a year for us to send you your book, your order has been cancelled!" ...WTH!? So I've had some bad experiences with them. Also, now we have Kodansha and from what translations Tokyo Pop is known for making...I'm so happy we have a company directly settled in Japan. If anything it's proof that fans can only tolerate so much editing and cuts from the products we pay for. Of course not all manga they've done is bad, but their customer service knocks them down from that. (At least in my opinion.) We're missing a publishing company now, but I won't be missing them personally.
