Penelope ran down the abandoned street, and had she been the type to swear her speech would have dripped with profanities. As it was, she didn't want to waste any breath on speech--the precious little she had was coming out of her in pants and combined with the clacking of her gray heels clacking against the concrete as the only sounds in the area. Well, the only sound other than the snarling of the creature that came snapping at said heels, of course, but she was trying to ignore that as best she could in order to contain her rising fear.

She was, admittedly, new to her role as a Senshi, but even in her panicked state she could not help but wonder if everyone went through this much in their first couple of days on the job. Penelope had had little to no time to become accustomed to all that she was learning, and it seemed like every day something else came out to remind her that her life as she had known it was over. The most potent reminder, the one that nipped for her attention with each step she took, was the injury to her side from a couple of days prior.

No time to complain now... got to keep moving! Hopefully I can keep luring it away so that it doesn't hurt anyone else...

Chaonis landed on a rooftop, scrambling up the side of it and over its lip after a jump from a lower building that came up too short. He was glad no one was around to see it, at the very least. He took a better run at the next one, which was lower again, and sailed the gap with a much more practiced ease this time.

He felt energy nearby, the hairs on the back of his neck bristling and he looked around. There was another senshi around, and he wondered if it was simply another one out on patrol.

If it was, he could mess with them.

Actually, he could mess with them no matter what.

He peered over the side of the building to see a girl running down it, but that was not the source of the energy he felt. In fact, that energy was moving off, and now he was watching the girl and a youma. He arched an eyebrow, then moved to jump down and follow after the runners, until they moved away from the main street and he could fight the youma without anyone, besides the girl he was assuming as a civilian, watching and distracting him with screaming.

Running to catch up to her, using the boost in his powered status, he grinned.

"Need some help?"

"Oh thank goodness--I didn't have a chance to change!" Penelope's panted explanation burst out of her before she could stop it, as the glance out of the corner of her eye indicated that the person beside her was a fellow Senshi and not another threat. Granted, he looked very different than she did whenever she transformed, as he was covered with a sporty armor and bright orange goggles and danger tape instead of a mask, ribbon, and beads. But he also looked very different from that Negaverse Captain and did not carry a weapon, so she felt somewhat safe in assuming it was another Senshi. Maybe the transformations were gender specific and that's why he looked so different? She stored that question away with her dozens of others. She did not have time to think on this, not when she was still dealing with the youma chasing her.

She continued to run as best she could with her injury, fumbling with her purse to retrieve her henshin pen as she gasped out some fuller information to the male Senshi beside her. "Had to get it away from all those people... but if you can help, I'd certainly appreciate it!"

Sailor Chaonis' eyebrows hit his forehead at her response. Unless she was planning on dressing up nicely for her death by youma, he knew what she meant. She was a senshi, as he was.

"Might not want to blast that around too much," he warned her, but at least they were alone. No one to possibly overhear them, and no energy signatures of anything evil or devious within his range to feel. Barring a creature with the hearing of a bat, they were fine.

Besides the youma that was trying to get them, but Chaonis wasn't intimidated, or even half impressed, by those.

"You henshin up, and I'll help keep this guy busy," he told her, with a suddenly friendly look on his face. Not a look to be trusted, if she knew him better. But she would learn soon enough that his definition of 'help' was not quite as helpful as one might hope.

He looked at the youma, bouncing into its path and punching it square in the face to get it to stop abruptly. It worked, as the youma couldn't keep chasing when it went sprawling to the floor. It wasn't down long, though, but senshi didn't need much time to get their fancy duds on.

Penelope knew that the other Senshi's chastisment, light as it was, was deserved. She did need to be more careful about revealing her identity; at the moment, however, she was just glad that someone who was clearly more experienced had come to take over the situation. The additional aid and the pointed directions made her actually calm down rather than grow more anxious. Finally, someone more competent would be able to handle the situation.

The teenager made good use of her new acquaintenance's strike to the youma's face, freeing her henshin pen from her purse and holding it aloft as she said, "Pasiphae Power, Make-Up!"

Each time she underwent this transformation, it felt more natural. It should not feel natural--there was nothing natural about the surrounding energy and the shift from her daily wear to her fuku, and certanly there was nothing natural about the cold kiss of her mask or the faint swish of the beads that adorned her accessories. Yet, Penelope couldn't help but feel hopeful that this, all of this, would continue to become less odd, if only so she could better serve those who needed her help.

With her henshining complete, Penelope slipped fully into the character of Sailor Pasiphae and moved to stand next to the male Senshi, "Done... any ideas on how to permanently get rid of it?"

Though Chaonis was a senshi, and was experienced in this kind of thing, he was not exactly the kind of guy most people felt relieved to see. Of course, his favorite kind of person was a newbie, and she was the perfect sort. She had no idea what she was getting herself into.

In many ways.

When she finished powering up, he looked at her.

"What? You don't have an attack? I said I'd keep it busy while you powered up. I didn't say I was going to finish it off for you."

He grinned at her, then took her arm and shoved her toward the youma. It immediately shifted its attention back to her and charged. Chaonis watched with keen eyes. He'd step in if she was suddenly a puddle of mushy flesh and blood, but before that he wanted to see what she could do. There was no better way to learn than to be forced into a tough fight.

If she wanted to get his help, she'd have to at least show him she was trying.

"What's your attack do? Better hope it's something useful! I'd avoid the claws and teeth, if I were you!"

Sailor Pasiphae hadn't been looking for a hand out in her question but rather seeking advice, so needless to say she got more than she bargained for whenever the other Senshi grabbed her arm and pushed her in the direction of the enemy! To her credit, she managed to keep most of her composure, but only because she had been in this situation once before. Her gasp of surprise and pain was not necessarily at the thought of facing the youma (though that in and of itself frightened her as well) as much as the reaction to being physically manhandled by one of her own.

She was not pleased at this turn of events, not at all. However, since the other senshi had made a point of stepping in to help her at all, she continued to assume that he was, ultimately, trying to do something to help her. Plus, he clearly had more experience, and she trusted him to know what he was doing.

Other than that... she just had no time to concentrate on him or his actions at the moment, not with an angry (and now in pain) monster in front of her. Her muscles tensed and she instinctively threw her hands between herself and the youma, even though the action was not necessary to activate the attack she summoned, "Shameful Isolation!"

The sound of the beads snapping off of her mask and expanding to form the maroon energy shield was comforting, as Pasiphae knew that, at least for the moment, she was safe. NOW she turned part of her attention to the male Senshi behind her, uncertain of how she was supposed to proceed. She was in the middle of a battle, but his words seemed to indicate she needs some kind of response. Perhaps simple was best? "I can protect myself for a while this way--but it won't hurt the youma, as far as I know. Still working on that part."

Sailor Chaonis made sure not to draw the youma to him. That would just be annoying, and ruin his fun. Plus, then he would have to actually fight, and any time he could let someone else do it, and mock them while they tried, was okay by him. His idea of a good time, in fact.

His eyes focused no her as she lifted her hands and called her attack. It was always interesting to see what other senshi could do. His own attack was not too visual, at least up until the end of it.

He was disappointed, though, when he saw it was a barrier. She was a defense senshi. Bummer.

"So you have no way of killing youma on your own then, huh?" he said, hands on his hips. The youma, not interested in their conversation, was trying to get to the female senshi and failing. It turned to Chaonis again, then, and the Senshi of Danger had to get into the fight. He didn't call his attack, instead, clenching his fists and moving to attack.

He punched it as hard as he could, glancing over at the other senshi.

"So get over here and help me the old fashioned way! Your fists still work, yeah?"

Pasiphae grit her teeth as the youma pummeled her energy shield, wincing at each blow even though she was not physically hurt. She had no fighting experience, not even as much as a school yard rumble, other than what she had gained as a Senshi--and of those, she had only a fifty percent success rate, as evidenced by the half inch deep wound in her side. All the more reason to listen to what this other Senshi had to say, to pick up what tips she could in order to be better in the future.

"Yes... my fists work," Pasiphae half-stammered in response to the other senshi's question as her shield disappated. Seeing the other warrior strike the creature with that much strength left her slightly puzzled. Was this his ability? It did not seem so - he called out no attack name and did not seem to summon any power. Still, she was slightly taken aback by this turn of events, "I can kill it... by punching it?" She did not mean to sound incredulous, but the idea seemed so simple. Still, she could not argue with the results she saw in front of her.

The Shame Senshi balled her gloved hands into fists and leapt in to strike the youma, having little hope that she would be successful but determined to show her earnestness.

"Of course you can kill it by punching it!"

Chaonis almost laughed, looking at her. He knew he shouldn't because she was a newer senshi and obviously couldn't know everything in the world, but knowing he shouldn't be laughing didn't stop him. He scoffed and shook his head, only cut off as the youma swung at him in return. He had to dodge it, and almost failed to in his distraction.

"What do you think they're made of? Solid iron? Some of these things might not be too easy to punch, but if you can get your hands on a weapon or use whatever's around you to help there's no reason to let a stupid youma get the better of you. They're push overs, when you compare them to the other things we have to fight."

He did not have a high opinion of youmas. He hated them, and considered them punching bags.

Watching as the senshi attacked, grabbed the youma's arm and pulled it toward the other senshi's swinging fist. It lost balance and slammed into her attack, maybe hitting her fist harder than she had intended but certainly taking more damage for it. The youma stumbled away for a moment, in a daze.

Clearly, this one was susceptible to old fashioned attacks.

"Go after it," Chaonis ordered, motioning with his hand, "you've got it on the ropes, so don't give it a chance to fight back. Get it!"

Sailor Pasiphae was not prepared for the monster to strike her fist with the added forced that the male Senshi provided, and the added power jostled her side painfully as well as made her hand ache. Still, her pain distracted her only a little when, despite her own doubts, the creature went backwards and had clearly been hurt. It was working!

Compared to other things we have to fight. Pasiphae felt a knot in her stomach at these words, focusing more on what seemed threatening than the confidence the other Senshi expressed at the ease of dispatching youma. Still, just because other battles would be harder did not mean they were unwinnable. If she could learn how to defeat youma, if she trained at it and became better through her experience, she could save more lives. She would not have to run away and use herself as purely a distraction. And maybe... just maybe... that meant that one day Pasiphae would be able to stand up to others like the javelin woman.

She nodded curtly, taking after the youma with the other Senshi's advice in mind. Don't let it fight back. She grounded herself in front of the youma and swung both fists, trying to deliver a one-two punch into the monster's gut.

Chaonis folded his arms over his chest as he watched her fight, nodding his head as if taking mental notes. He wasn't, not really, but he was enjoying the new vigor with which she attacked the youma.

Determination, confidence, whatever it was, it was going to keep her alive in harder fights, and she needed to know it was there. She could win, if she actually fought to. It wasn't just about beating her enemy: sometimes it was equally as vital to overcome ones own fear.

"You've got it!" He called, moving closer as the youma stumbled backwards from her punches, clearly in a daze and unable to do a damn thing about it.

It didn't look like it had much left, though it was certainly trying. The hard punch it had taken, followed by her quick attacks, were adding up. It would only be a matter of a few more good hits before it was dust. That was good, Chaonis thought. If it hadn't been one of the punchable youma, the lesson might have gone a different way.

"Finish it off! You've weakened it's face and its gut: pick one and focus on it! Once you've got dust, you're done. Don't let up!" He stayed close, tense, exhilarated but not wanting to get too wrapped up in watching in case the thing suddenly lashed out and attacked Pasiphae.

Sailor Pasiphae was only mildly aware of the other Senshi's seemingly approving nods, focusing more of her attention on the enemy in front of her. If she had known his thoughts, she would have returned to her more flustered persona. Determination? Confidence? She wouldn't attribute either of those adjectives to herself, but if she did, she would have to confess that she was by far more determined than she was confident.

Whether she wanted to be or not, whether she felt she was worthy or not, she had been chosen to be a Senshi. She owed it to her fellow warriors as well as to the civilians she had been chosen to protect to do her best, to become stronger. It was no less true that she needed to become stronger for her own sake, but it was not her primary concern. Even now, while her own knowledge and understanding of her powers grew, Pasiphae was less concerned with her personal ability to defeat the youma as much as the fact that she was improving in ways that meant she would more effectively be able to aid others.

Pasiphae paused to catch her breath, moving a sweat-soaked lock of hair from her eyes and gritting her teeth against the now more prominent throbbing from the wound in her side. The youma certainly looked weaker, however, then when she had begun, and her instructor's command to finish it off confirmed that the fight was almost over. Face or gut... two weak points, and she had to choose one. Look for... dust? Did that mean it would crumble away underneath her hands? Or was it some other term she didn't recognize?

No time to ponder this now, not while the youma still continued to be a threat. She decided to focus on its face, reeling her arm back to deliver a huge punch.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 21, 2011 7:14 pm

Chaonis watched her as she punched the youma in the face, grinning in satisfaction as it burst into dust after the final blow. She had done it! He was not surprised, of course, with her powerful and awesome teacher at hand.

He finally moved toward her.

"there, one dead youma. Not bad, kid." He grinned broadly. "Not so tough, right? There are a lot of youma out there, and some are harder to hit then others, but it's always worth testing with your fist, right?"

He looked her over. He didn't think she had been wounded so he wasn't looking for anything in particular, but he hadn't seen the fight before he arrived so who knew? She had been caught up in teh thrill of the fight, he knew that feeling, so maybe if she had been hurt she just hadn't noticed it until now.

"You alright? All in one piece?" He couldn't remember if he had thrown his name or if she had given him hers, but he also made no move to introduce himself. Instead, he took out his phone and let it scan her, adding her to his expanding senshi phonebook.

Dust. It had literally turned into dust under her fist, and Pasiphae just stood there and stared. She only half-believed it, but the pile sat at her feet and left dark marks on her gloves. She couldn't help but return her companion's smile, excited to have done something right.

Pasiphae opened her mouth to respond but paused when she saw the male senshi seemingly taking a picture of her with his phone. At first this struck her as odd, but then she remembered that it was a tool for finding senshi. She stood mostly still, one hand ghosting over her side, unconciously covering her wound as she answered his question, "I'm fine... the youma didn't hurt me, surprisingly. And you're okay, too?"

While waiting for a response, she moved to her discarded purse in order to get her phone. As the adrenaline drained out of her, so did her ability to ignore the pain in her side. Bending down to retrieve the purse and her phone made her visibly wince, once when she bent to grab her own cellphone from where it had fallen and then a second time when she straightened up. "Sorry, I really need to figure out a better way to carry everything."

Pasiphae then returned, opening her phone and scanning the other Senshi in return. The first Senshi in her phone... and she didn't even know his name! Well, the introduction might be late, but it was better than nothing. "I'm P..." She stopped short of giving away her real name, remembering his first warning about protecting her identity and starting again, "Pasiphae, Sailor Pasiphae. Thanks for your help."
