I've been planning (coughcoughplottingcough) all night on what to do with the guild, and now I think I'm onto something. Scy's had me thinking about the whole plot, and now I've got some changes to put into motion.

Some things we need to do first, before we can really get things going:

✖Clear out inactive members
✖Clean out the guild (get rid of old/unnecessary areas)
✖Possibly get rid of all of the characters.
✖Add new areas
✖Post new areas
✖Post up the revamped storyline/plot

Feel free to debate with me on anything you disagree about. Especially the character bit. If there are characters that you'd like to keep, then that's fine by me, but they would have to be reposted and edited to follow the new character application form I've been working on. I know, I know, this seems sudden, but I know I'm not the only guild member starting to get bored.

Also, I was thinking about having the story not just focus on the mansion, but on a small town that the mansion is a part of. We need to settle on a time and setting too. (Rome, Italy, Japan, Victorian, Colonial, Modern, Modern Victorian, etc.)

After things are straightened up, then things will get fun again, I hope. I've also got a new set of rule and guidelines that are more rigid and defined, but also leave plenty of freedom. I'll post up the lists of everything once I get some opinions from you guys. (Mainly Kitsu, LLV, and Scy and Oni, since we're the only really active members.)

When it comes to remaking things in the guild, can I suggest a new subforum to put the old threads in? Any RP threads that were used and are now obsolete and especially the Profile list would be put in there. That way, anyone looking for references or intro posts/info can still go back and find it. I for one would like to keep most of my characters, except maybe Wolf. I love his concept but I just can't seem to use him right.

I'm very much for clearing out inactive members and placing the mansion in a larger location. Though, putting the mansion out there changes the whole dynamic of the guild's premise. Some pets would obviously be given higher privileges and be allowed to venture out into the city on errands or sometimes even for fun. This would make an incredibly useful hierarchy among the members and give rise to more plot opportunities. Gaining these rights can also be a new device in that there are tasks or requirements that must be met in RP before gaining favor.

Which brings up the question of things outside the Mansion. Does the city/town approve of the practices? Are they divided on it? What pull, if any, would a city/town council have on the Ring Master?

Was any more thought given to an ultimate antagonist?

I like steampunk worlds, myself. Though I think a more modern world might be better suited to our needs, but I guess that depends on what the plot becomes. I'm envisioning a modern day world but the Mansion itself is seemingly stuck in a wormhole in which they act/dress in a manner belonging to an older era of sideshows and roadside circuses. Thus their allure to the general populace.

That's a good idea. I'll start on clearing out the inactive members today. As for moving the threads and putting them in a subforum, that could work too. I was thinking that we could just start over, since some of our plots seem to be getting a bit soupy and boring, but I suppose it could be nice to have a guide to refer to.

I've got a couple ideas for the mansion's setting and such. Since I don't really see the mansion sitting smack in the middle of a modern day neighborhood with kids running about, I think the town could be small and well out of reach of others. A mostly unknown little town, with no advertisements to the circus that aren't handed out in town. What if the whole town acted that way? As if they were stuck in the victorian/steampunk times, but still had electricity, modern medicine, transportation, etc.? That way only a few under the table business men or such who've had direct contact with Alistair would know it existed, which leaves room for conflict between Alistair and others.

As for the town approving of the mansion, I think to them it would be mostly viewed as a circus, with only wealthy elitists knowing about its other... 'entertainments'. That way Alistair could still ride under the radar. Any city councilmen could easily be bribed.

I think if we go for a truly modern approach that we should have the mansion a little far off, as in, in a nice, small neighborhood filled with people blinded by money. The mansion could be located right on the edge of town, hidden mostly behind thick forestation and foliage, with a long driveway and gates so things would seem as if the mansion was either very old and dying or forgotten. That way they would still be in the middle of a changing environment, but never changing. Not sure which idea I like better.

Now for the fun part. The villain would naturally be Alistair. He runs the circus. Right? Eh... not really. Current Alistair is getting too friendsy, so I'm going to revamp him up a bit. Scy, if you'd like, you could create a few of Alistair's right hand men. Since Alistair is really just a rich brat trying to recreate his childhood, he'd need a truly evil streak. And I think a set of councilmen or something like that could keep him on track.

Now, plot. We need something they can all strive for. I'm thinking that maybe they would all strive to get rid of the holder of their contracts, but that could get old fast.

....Wait. To kick the evil up a notch, what if Alistair had a personal doctor who was absolutely insane? Worse than Cassiol. Who carefully selects and runs painful experiments on just to watch the effects? Like, if we had a group of antagonists, but we'd still need one super bad baddy... Not sure who or what that could be yet though. Alistair seems to forgiving in his current state, so I'll either make him really bad or get rid of him completely. Which means he can't be swayed by love. (Sorry Middy, you made him soft!)

If we start over, there's no reason things that are going on now can't continue on with different rules. The rp'ers could just refer to thing that have happened before as if they weren't rp'd in the guild, or we could just start over. I just realized that moving everything in the guild is going to take a hell of a lot of work.

Like, Aleks could still go to the infirmary and everything after everything new is put up. And all of the characters you want to keep need to be reposted under a new format, because I've come up with one that will be much better than the one we've got now. It's much more detailed (but relevant, and not unnecessarily detailed) and I've come up with a better list of rules.

Damn. Part of me wants to chuck this guild out of the window and start a new one like it... But that'd be the easy way out. And I don't do things that way... well, not all the time.

All sounds good to me. I've got an idea to create a council of 4 that believe they are the reincarnations of the apocalypse. Perhaps Alistair could be in debt to them somehow? Or perhaps they were advisers of his father's and just went with Alistair when he took up the mansion holdings? They can further do cameo work around the city. War runs an underground fight ring; Famine is a giggling idiot who just wanders around; Pestilence is a doctor (perhaps he trained the creepy one you speak of?); and then Death is a messenger. Their influence on the Ring Master at least would certainly keep him on the straight and evil narrow yet gives him the chance to secretly show affection?

Or, we can create multiple households like this? If we go with the 'everyone is incredibly wealthy and has huge houses of their own but all are obscured from direct view' then perhaps Alistair is a pet to another as well? Say there's an overlord of sorts in one of the mansions that owns all the others. That could allow for multiple 'big bad guys' like Alistair but then the one behind them all pulling their strings. Who ever plays the overlord could issue orders for each of his pets that would have to be completed or face punishment.

On an odd side note... I dreamed Oni and Kitsu had posted here too... and for whatever reason only their posts showed up on this page and then your reply was on the next and I was thinking "Well where the heck did all the others go?"...I wish I could remember what they said, lol.

Characters:: As far as characters go, I'd want to skip a few. Umm... Keitta, Seiji and possibly Mitsuki BUT I will keep him if LLV wishes to keep Faust. Then I will happily keep him (but in the case of her wanting to move him, I will)
Orrr... If me and LLV come up with some drama, where only one of them stays. I don't mind ^^

Settings:: As far as having the place moved I agree. It was a nice idea but limited. I like the idea of keeping it dated within a modern town. Which would give it an edge. They could do regular shows for public. Annnd maybe Allistair could be on the town council, or related to the last mayor, something that would give him partial control to do a little as he pleased.

I'm not sure whether scrapping the guild would be harder, but I'm willing to help with whatever ^^

I like the idea of Alistair being related to or on the city council. That would be a nice way to have him with even more control, and it could mix things up, and he could have an influence on the town.

And yeah, the setting bit I like too. It being in a different, more expanded place opens things up, and it seems more realistic.

Now, the characters I'd like to get rid of are Matt, Mamoru, Kyril and Cyril, Lucian, and some others I can't remember. (too many characters...) but I'll definitely keep Alistair and maybe Ciel. And I want LLV to know that Hisoka maaay be going to. But as for doctors, I think we should have at least two or three. That way no one is stuck being the one whose character is stuck in the infirmary twenty-four seven. This time I'll definitely focus on fleshing out my characters more. If anyone's interested I'll post up the new character profile outline here for you guys to review over.

That'd be great.

Also, has anyone here seen the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus? That's kind of how I picture the circus group vs the real world.

Uh... never seen it. But I'll look into it in a bit, once everything's moved ^^

Then I'll post up the profile info, the new rules, etc.

I hated that movie. Anyhoo, I like the circus revamping ideas and the like. Count me in. For the record I'm sending Venz home, considering Faust kidnapping the cook and them leaving. Koi is going to disappear as well. So I'm keeping Cassy, Middy, Thrice and my new LL. I'm up in the air with Juli... I like clowns.

THAT IS MY FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!! Sorry ^_^'

Alrighttt, so, I would get rid of Soran, Ariel, and, I know cappy dislikes Matthew, so if he goes, Ill scrap Amicon and Annit. I HATE SORAN... Sorry, not nice for me to say, but its true. Oh, and Aquallia. (maybe my new person too, I have to stop making cute little things because I see their pictures...)

I like the ideas that are here, and if this is the way the guild is going... I need to start getting my game face on again. I don't know if my action Oni is still there -goes to check, looks deep in my role playing heart- Oh yeah, I'm still there. Alright, well I had already had ideas that they should put on shows for the public, because really, no one has seen any acts.

I don't know how I feel about the modern town, I kinda liked the idea that it could be in 1880's/90's but I'll go with whatever!! Also, for the setting can it be ireland?! I understand if no one likes this idea~

Also, should I feel flattered that I was in Syths dream? O_o

Yes, feel special biggrin

And would it be too much trouble to ask for the Character Profile Skeleton to be in code so we don't have to each individually format it?

Character prof. bit is up AND coded, but don't post anything yet. I want to get everything fixed before we slowly put the plot into motion, eh?

Sorry bout that Scy, I totally skipped over your other post (or I had a mental lapse lol). Um... The council of four idea might be something to look into, but if they existed I kind of wouldn't even want Alistair. What would be the point? And if all of the other houses acted like Alistair's, then they wouldn't exactly have a reason to draw in spectators then.

So, since this works like a democracy, what do you guys think? Of the council bit?

And the setting. Who's in favor of what? So far we've got three choices. Modern, where everyone in the mansion is a bit stuck in the times, Victorian (I think that's what Oni was talking about, 1800s/1890s), and ... can't remember the other one. Hm?
