I just got an official email about it. This doesn't effect me, but it may be good news for some others in the guild. 3nodding
Submitted For: Human Resources Subject: Florida Minimum Wage
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Effective June 1, 2011, the minimum wage for the State of Florida will be raised to $7.31 per hour.
All new hires or rehires that are effective 6/1/11 or later must be hired at no less than the $7.31 per hour minimum wage.
If you're currently employed and working below $7.31 an hour, expect a raise soon! surprised

Is that going to affect everyone working prior to then as well? It sounds like it's only going to affect people who are newly hired after the change. Which is really lame and in which case if someone is thinking of getting a minimum wage job, they should wait another month. Not like that measly amount makes a whole lot of difference though. Kaz is still trying to find a job and I want him to get one as soon as possible, and while I really hope he gets something that pays more than minimum wage, if he isn't able to then I'm wondering if I should have him wait until they make that change.

Minimum wage in a state means that that's the lowest you can legally be paid for an hour of employment. If someone is making less than that, the law requires the employer to bump them up to $7.31 on 6/1/11. 3nodding
