This is for Uhra, Adom, Ikinya and Cuauhcoatl It was bright out, and she was getting tired. It wasn't that she wasn't used to the walking, she actually loved to walk. Her eyes flickered quietly over and around. Uhra wasn't used to this. Walking when pregnant was hard on her little legs. She shifted a bit, before progressing on, walking alongside her mate, Adom. It was almost as if she was forcing herself to move, so that she could finally relax, and find a good place to lay down to give birth to the little foals in her belly.
But she knew that her love was also very much so worried. She knew that Adom felt something. Something was wrong with him. Uhra's eyes flickered, watching the male for several seconds. He seemed on edge with every step they took closer to the place where he lived. She didn't understand it, not having her own home, but Uhra wasn't going to press him. She wanted to know very much so what she needed to expect, but she was not going to pester Adom to tell her until he was ready. So, with soft footfall, Uhra walked beside him, admiring the small landscape about.
"It's very nice out today..." She whispered softly.

The day was in fact wonderful, a beautiful day for traveling to the homelands he'd been gone from for so long. This day however did little to ease the worries of the little stallion as his mind went a million miles a minute. Would mother be cross he hadn't been home in so long, did the herd grow since he'd left to see a bit of the world? How would Darius be around Uhra and the unborn foals? Heavens knew he wasn't one for thinking things through, what if something bad happened....or worse what if he snapped and really used those carnivorous teeth to proper use? Ugh.....why did something so dangerous have to be so uneducated?? He knew father and mother were trying their best with Darius...but what if it wasn't enough?
Before he knew it he had been walking rather quickly, and with a quick look back to Uhra he felt embarrassed and slowed down to let her catch up. What was he thinking, taking such a pace with a pregnant mare? "Yes...it is. It is warm for this pace though, are you sure you are feeling alright? Overly exerting in this weather is sure to bring on sun stroke, and it wouldn't be good for you or the foals now...maybe we should stop for a bit - let you cool down and catch your breath..." Adom's words began to accelerate, nervous and worrisome beyond normal measures. Stopping infront of her he raised his head and pressed his nose against her forehead with a sigh of relief when it felt normal.
"We're almost there, Uhra. Just....take care to stay close to me okay? Its...relatively safe in the herdlands but just incase....I don't know what I would do if anything happened to you." He tried to offer a reassuring smile to ease his new mate's worries.

It had been a while since she'd seen trace of Adom, and in all truths it worried her. Perhaps it was the mother in her unwilling to let go that her children would all leave the 'nest' someday and go out to forge their own way into the world; but did it have to happen so soon?
Sitting out at the edge of the gardens where she called home with her family and friends she gave a little sigh; remembering the days where Adom used to help her in the gardens with an eager mind to learn from her as much as from Cuauh. "I miss him so....all of them really." It seemed all the foals of the herd had grown up to become such wonderful adults....even Darius was blooming into a fine young fellow under Cuauh's tender teaching. Chucking softly as she looked to the rows of dirt ready to be tended with seeds for the summer harvest, she knew she had a lot of work ahead of her but little desire to do it today.
"Maybe...its time to think about my future as well..." She muttered softly, feeling the tug of maternal urge flutter her heart.

Cuauhcoatl nuzzled against Ikinya, smiling faintly, resting his muzzle against her sleepily, enjoying the lazy time curled up beside her, his wings protecting her from the faint chill of the spring breeze as Zyanya continued her exercises in the field, pausing to study a scroll to figure out the next pose.
He looked down at his beloved, he nibbled a bit at her hair, "Oh?" He was amused by the thought Ikinya didn't feel she thought about her future -- but then, lately they'd been trying to think of the now, in hope of a better future for all. Yectenehua was slowly being set up, the territory settled into, good food needed to be set up, children needed education. So much for the future, but they had to focus on the present to do it.
And it helped keep from dwelling on the painful past.
However, a noise and a bit of movement caught his attention, and he swiveled his head, noting two shapes -- one familiar, and another not so much -- heading their way, "...I believe our son has returned..."

The small female wondered quietly forward, her hooves digging into the grass and dirt as she walked. She knew that Adom was worried. It was all too obvious, but she didn't understand why. She shifted, smiling toward him, her eyes shinning lightly toward her mate. She watched him walking ahead of her, and despite that, she kept her pace, knowing he would slow. And slow he did. So, Uhra smiled, and shifted nuzzle against him with her nose for a second, before letting out a small trill of a laugh at his worry. She didn't understand why he was so worried.
"I'm fine, love. Don't worry. This isn't so bad. It's just a small walk, right? We're almost there. So I'm not too worried about it, love. I'll be okay." She said, her voice soft, like the wind. She let him check her temperature, not so worried about it, before she walked quietly forward again, eyes soft, not worried in the least. She knew if all else, Adom would do anything to protect her, and she could run, just not very far, or for very long. She would be safe, she was sure of it.
Her eyes flickered up, the yellow gleam catching the sight of other horses ahead of them. Suddenly, the nerves started to get to her, and despite hiding it, Uhra's heart picked up in pace from an anxious want to meet these other horses. Her ears flickered, before pining, hair falling somewhat against her white face. "Y... Yes, we're almost there..." She whispered, following close beside him.

"Mmn....Yes but still....if it was safe to be out in the world with birthing I wouldn't have insisted we return here so late in your pregnancy...but its not. If...I was larger maybe I could have protected you all from anything. Yet I know you will have a stress free delivery here, Dad will make sure of it." Adom pressed forward, keeping a more attentive watch on his declared mate to keep at her side. It'll be okay....I have to keep reminding myself. He thought for a brief moment before looking up to see the form of the herd lands take shape before them. He could clearly see the large frame of his father, a soothing sight for sore eyes he was - but he also knew that somewhere amidst the four large wings and bold colours of Cuauh's pelt would be where his mother was...it was rare to see Cuauh laying down if it was not with Ikinya in a cuddle.
It was the thought of their unfaltering affections which kept him calm - well...relatively calm about falling in love so fast and siring foals with role models like that.
"There they are, Uhra. My home. It looks like my parents are already out...I know they will love you!" Actually bringing a bit of excitement to his voice, he grinned at the white mare at his side and with a sweep of his head brushed the hair away from her ivory complexion. "A little further." He tenderly urged, feeling the worries from before slip away at the sight of home once again.
---------------------------------------------------------<3----------------------------------------------------------
Sighing out a breath of serenity, Ikinya turned her head lightly to look up at the comforting eyes of her mate; still feeling the gentle flutter of her heart at his doting touch even after all this time. It really was a magical feeling she hoped never stopped, and gave a curt chuckle in response to his nibbles. "Hey now you lug, careful with the braids!" Ikinya mused, remembering fondly how hard Cuauh tried in his transformations whenever she needed the assistance of fingers to help her manage her constant braided locks. It was always met with gratitude, but she often did worry at how much energy it took out of the poor fellow.
"Yes....a distant thought, but one none the less. Its been such a busy time, and with the hustle and bustle of life...its been a while since I've thought of what is in store for me...and you; aside from the herd." While patience remained one of her better virtues, she was still a female and still a mother even if not by blood. Some feelings never went away she discovered the more she pondered as of late.
However at the sudden movement of his head, Ikinya found her own neck straining to look over the back of the stallion to attempt to see what he'd seen. "Adom...?" She said curiously before catching a glimpse of sandy gold and black. "Adom! Where the heck has he been all this time -" Cutting herself short as she stood up, it was only then that she caught sight of another traveling with him; brilliant white standing out against the background of the woods. "Oh....that's why." She said with a smile in a more stately manner than directed to anyone; immediately forgiving him if it seemed he had been out making friends!
