With the island trip behind them, it was back to regular classes and normal homework. Frowning, Calder wasn't exactly thrilled at playing the harmonica, and was happy to help Ren when he was messaged that he needed some help. More than willing to find an excuse to play an instrument he actually knew HOW to play, Calder put his bagpipes into his saddle bag and, frowning, his harmonica in a side pocket, and headed off at the given room number.
It was probably the first time he visited someone in the monster dorms. Most of his friends were either demons or undead, and he felt rather strange just going up to the second floor and not traveling across campus. Looking about and checking his piece of paper he wrote the dorm number on, he reachedup and knocked.

In all of the mess and mixups and complete disaster of the field trip, Ren had forgotten one very important concept:
Homework.
Now that classes were back in order and things had started to settle down, Ren found himself in his room, staring dismally at a heap that might have been bagpipes, had he actually taken the time to dust them off. They had been sitting in a corner of his closet for several weeks now, and he had only just barely remembered about the fact that he was supposed to have been practicing them. His only excuse was that he had been a tiny bit preoccupied, what with almost drowning twice, being attacked by hooded people, falling down an elevator shaft and dying and all, but Ren was not entirely certain that would count when he went to the next music class.
He was in a little bit of a dilemma. So he had contacted the only person he knew that could possibly help him - a kelpie that he recalled having been quite useful in the previous class... New Groanspring Message Calder: Think you could come over sometime and help me with these bagpipes? I'll give you some carrots. Room 27B if you want to~
"Calder!" A faint flicker of surprise flitted across Ren's face as he stared down at the boil, but it was quickly replaced by relief. "Ah, thank Jack you're here! Come in, come in!"

He had to admit, the carrots were a great incentive, but Calder would have came without them. Not that he wouldn't take them. He wanted them. He wanted any carrots Ren had that wouldn't get him in trouble for stealing them from his garden. Damn, Ren had some mighty fine carrots.
But back to homework, Calder was happy to play his bagpipes, an instrument he knew, and help out Ren in the process. Not to mention he didn't know too many monsters and was starting to worry he was only going to know demons and the undead. Not anything against his friends, but someones a monster just wanted to hang out with someone who didn't want to start a contract and had a heartbeat.
Smiling, Calder beamed as Ren opened the door. "Hi Ren!" Calder cheerfully sang, before being ushered into his room. "I needed a study break, and I haven't been able to play my pipes for a while." It was then that Calder was left in Ren's room and looking about. He loved seeing how other people and creatures lived, and as Barth could testify, Calder tended to poke about. Already in, he started to inspect the place.

The relief at finding Calder here was perfect. After all, Ren had sat staring at his dusty bagpipes for at least ten minutes now without the faintest inkling of what exactly he should do. At first he had tried blowing into one of the long tubes, but the only thing that had happened was a flooomp-ing sound and then a cloud of dust had exploded in his face, causing a coughing fit for a few moments. After that Ren had just sat there, studying it, until Calder had arrived.
"A break for you is playing the bagpipes?" Ren said, his brows raising as he closed the door behind the kelpie. "That's, er...well, I'm glad you like them, at least. Certainly helps me quite a bit."
Giving a small laugh, he rubbed the back of his neck, his eyes following Calder as the boil moved around the room. Ren wasn't entirely certain what exactly he was doing, but it wasn't like he had anything to hide. From his perch on the pillow, Rhys eyed the newcomer somewhat suspiciously, one of the lepus' ears twitching.
"So, er, here," Ren said, stepping over and motioning rather halfheartedly at the pile of bagpipes flopped over his desk chair. "Here's, er...the...you know, bagpipes."

Calder moved about before glancing over his shoulder. "Yeah. Bagpipes are very relaxing." Most wouldn't had put it just like that, but Calder had been playing the bagpipes long enough that it help him keep focused and keep quiet. "...it also reminds me of home."
Turning, he spotted the Lepus and set his hands on his knees, smiling at the minipet. "Why he~llo there. Aren't you cute? What's your name?" He asked, as if the Lepus would actually tell him his name. Smiling, he reached out and was about to pet the creature when he spotted the neglected bagpipes.
Frowning, he moved over to pick them up, giving them a inspection. They were a tad dusty, but fine. At least they weren't on the floor or crammed somewhere. Smiling, he handed them off to Ren. "Where do you want to sit?" he asked, looking around.
