A light rain fell as thunder rumbled off in the distance, a sign of the storm that was to come soon. The rain and impending storm were of no concern to She-Ra and her duties. They weren't now and they never would be. These minor interruptions in weather must be worked through or else ones prey could get away just because the hunter did not wish to get their fur wet. No she had learned long ago that rain could work to ones advantage, storms even more so, for they created sound and visual distractions for others. While sneaking about in the rain wasn't the only trick she knew She-Ra would certainly take advantage of it when she could. Besides the borders of Masters territory wouldn't watch themselves. Master was currently out hunting, fulfilling his lust for blood, and Pirata had also left to take her spiders somewhere - likely back to visit their swamp home. This left She-Ra to keep an eye on things until they returned.
The golden haired mare walked close to the border of the land, eyes scanning thoroughly through the droplets of rain. Nothing would step foot on her Masters lands without her knowing about it, and those that were foolish enough to get close enough would not get away - ever. That would actually work out well to her advantage, having her Master return to see that she had captured one of those weak beasts for him to do with as he pleased. While she couldn't guarantee such an occurrence would happen, the though certainly boosted her determination to cover every last inch of the territory in search of such victims.
Giving her head a shake to remove her rain soaked mane to stay out of her vision She-Ra trotted along with purpose. For months she had been trained, molded and on rare occasions, when Master's temper broke, beaten into submission and loyalty. This was her first chance to show that all that time and effort had not been wasted upon her and that they did indeed have the perfect soldier within their arsenal. Pausing on top of a small ridge that ran along a good potion of the southern border She-Ra's eyes swept from east to west. The western border had already been checked and now as she neared the eastern border of the lands she was nearly finished with her first sweep of the area.
Enough time standing still She-Ra berated herself for taking the small break in her patrol. Picking her way down the ridge to where the land was flat once more She-Ra headed towards the east border, the border that faced the area so heavily populated by those lesser Soquili. As she cast her eyes towards those lush lands, those that were the near opposite of the desolate scrubland that was her Masters current domain, she thought about the day to come when they would make their move and reclaim what was so clearly rightfully theirs - correction, her Masters.

Beneath the cover of a tree, Olivia stood trying to avoid the rain and the storm. She had been trying to make her way home when the storm hit and now she had no clue where she was. Oh, why did she have to have such a bad sense of direction? And this stupid storm certainly wasn't helping any either. Perhaps she could try to fly home? The thought was a silly one as the rain would make it nearly impossible, but she had to try. Carefully little mare tested her wings and found that they were too wet to even move. Figures. She grumbled to herself. They always seemed to be in the way, even when she actually needed them. With a sigh she moved out from under the tree. She was already soaked, already lost, she might as well try to find her way home. It wasn't like anything worse could happen now could it?

Movement ahead caught her attention and She-Ra quickly moved forward to see what it was. Her eyes settled upon a large Flutter mare who by the looks of it was lost. Ah perfect. It took only a quick glance for her to notice the mares rain soaked wings. This was even better. Flutters were notoriously difficult to catch as their size changing ability added an extra element to the hunt, but this mare couldn't fly right now, so even if she tried to make herself small she would be restricted to the ground where She-Ra's hooves would take care of her. This would be another chance to hone her skills of deception. Pirata had taught her well that others would not see her as a threat based upon her appearance, and it was something she could use to her advantage.
Picking her way towards the mare She-Ra hurried to catch up to her. Her normally thick and wavy golden trusses clings to her neck in large chunks. "Nasty weather today." She finally said now that she was close to the mare. "Certainly not the type of weather to be out in." Would the mare turn down an offer of shelter, likely not, but in the off chance that she did She-Ra had other options to take her as her prey. "I know a place that's somewhat dry that you can wait out the rest of the storm in." She offered in a friendly tone, hoping the mare would be reasonable and agree, thus putting her directly into She-Ra's little trap.

The startled mare took a step back as the stranger spoke. Where had this new comer come from? Olivia cursed the rain, not only were her wings useless, but she couldn't even hear anyone coming up on her. She was lucky this mare wasn't any sort of enemy or she could have been in trouble.
"Oh, why hello there." She beamed up at the mare. "I apologize I didn't quite see you approach. This silly rain has me all mixed up. I rather wish it wouldn't ever rain, but then there wouldn't be any water to drink or to keep the grass green then would there?" Olivia smiled at the mare. "Oh goodness I'm being rude aren't I? I'm Olivia, pleased to meet you."
As she awaited the mare's name, it dawned on her that she had been asked a question. "Oh my, a dry place you say? I'd be forever thankful. I've been out here for what feels like hours trying to find my way home. If I could just stay until this rain has cleared up I'd be forever in your debt." What good luck she had! Perhaps she hadn't run into the best of weather, but now she had the possibility of a new friend and some dry shelter. Her days was definitely looking up.

As the mare startled She-Ra simply stood where she was, waiting for the mare to realize she was no threat, even if that was a lie, before saying anything else. When the mare smiles pleasantly She-Ra knew she had found a suitable prey to lure back home. It would likely be another disappointingly easy catch, but as long as her Master had slaves and snacks that was what truly mattered. All it would take was a smile, some nice words, a friendly manner and the mare would be walking into the most dangerous area without even noticing it. Amusing and sad at the same time. Perhaps her next quarry would be a bit more challenging, or at least put up a bit of a fight, maybe not be so easily fooled by kind words. But the weak blooded fools were just that, a smile and a nice hello usually gained their trust without issue.
"Rain is a burden as much as it is a gift." She-Ra agreed with a nod of her head. See it was lines like that that made her that much more believable. Pirata really had outdone herself with She-Ra's training, using the art of deception was only the tip of her arsenal. "It is good to meet you Olivia. I am She-Ra, and while it may not look like much these lands are part of my home. I would gladly offer you shelter from the storm." She told the mare with a friendly smile. "I know how rough it can be traveling in this weather, which is why I'm out in it now, looking for any who are lost in the rain." And that right there likely sealed the deal.
"There's a nice cave not far from here that will provide us both ample shelter. Though mind your footing, these rocks can be fairly slippery with all this water." With a motion of her muzzle She-Ra began to lead the way, taking a path that would lead the mare to some form of shelter. "Do you live far from here? I don't see all that many travelers this way to be honest." If there was one thing She-Ra remembered is that these weak blooded Soquili loved their idle chatter, and if it meant gaining a captive she would suffer through it.

Grateful, Olivia quickly followed after the mare. She listened to her as they walked and was mindful of where she stepped. She-ra had been right, the rain had made their path quite slippery and hazardous. Careful of her footing, Olivia kept her eyes glued to the ground, unaware of her surroundings. "Oh, I'm really not all that sure how far from here I live." She started off rather cheerfully, still careful of her footing. "I'm certainly not familiar with this area, but I suppose I can't have wandered too far from home. Unfortunately the weather has made things quite difficult for me. I seem to have lost all sense of direction." She chattered on, oblivious of where she was going.
She paused for a moment, carefully maneuvering around a patch of rough rocks. If she hadn't seen those she might have been in for a nasty fall. It was certainly a good thing She-ra had managed to find her. WHo knows what sort of trouble she could have gotten herself into all on her own? "You know," She began thoughtfully. "You are such a sweetheart for doing this. Looking out for travelers I mean. Who knows what sort of nasty mess I might have gotten myself into all on my own out here? This land is certainly different from what I'm used to. Perhaps I am further from home than I thought?" The mare paused once again, thinking over the question that she had just asked herself.
"Oh dear me, I'm spacing out again aren't I? What about you? When you're not out rescuing poor travelers such as myself, what do you enjoy doing? Is there a fellow in your life?" She asked with a little bit of a giggle. "Oh I sure wish I had one myself. Eventually you know? I'm sure I'll find him one of these days. Mom always did say that the perfect stallion would come along eventually. If he wasn't worth the waiting he wasn't worth my time. Or something like that. I never really used to believe her, but I think I'm beginning to understand what she meant now." The mare continued on this way, striking up an idle conversation while the two continued along.

This is it, this is what torture must feel like, She-Ra thought. Of all her prior captures none had ever been this talkative or bubbly as the mare following behind her now was chattering away about things She-Ra cared not to talk about not think on. This would be the last Flutter she would ever capture if the rest of the breed was anything like this mare here. How could someone be so happy all the time. She-Ra was already exhausted from their encounter and it had only just begun! Just wait until she is being devoured by Master, she kept thinking to herself, though even that thought wasn't enough. It was hard to keep the grimace off of her face, but She-R was a professional at keeping her negativity at bay until the proper time presented itself.
After a deep calming breath She-Ra was ready to answer the mares questions with an equal cheerful tone. "It can be easy to get disoriented in the rain, it has a funny way of changing the look of an area." Glancing over her shoulder she watched as Olivia navigated an area of rocks. In the back of her mind a small voice said 'Maybe I'll be lucky and she will slip and break her neck, that will end this quickly enough' though she knew the chances of that were slim given how cautious the mare was being. "I believe in helping others, as it's such a rewarding experience." She-Ra was certain she felt bile reach her throat upon saying such a disgusting thing. Swallowing it down she gave her head a bit of a shake, though it was easily disguised as flipping her forelock out of her eyes.
"Oh I don't really do too much. The land is somewhat barren here even in the best of months so a lot of my time is spent gathering food and water. It may not be the prettiest place but it's still home." Gods but these lies got worse and more disgusting as they went on. But it was things like that that the weak bloods ate up easily. "Well..." She continued thoughtfully, what she was about to say next making her feel a bit sick. "There is a stallion who lives in the area." That stallion being her Master but this mare didn't need to know the full details. "He is kind to me, but we are happy being just...friends." She-Ra thought she would choke on that last word. Referring to her Master as a friend felt horribly wrong but it would keep the mare blind to the hidden truths.

Olivia managed to keep up with the mare some how, even though she spent most of her time looking at the ground. She felt bad for that, being slow, she must be a burden on the mare. Not to mention she couldn't even look at the mare to talk properly. However, this particular mare seemed to be a lot like her really. She was cheerful and enjoyed helping others. Perhaps they could be friends of some sort? Obviously she couldn't live too far away, not if she has managed to make it here within a few hours. Sure they might not be able to visit each other all the time, but certainly they could keep in touch once all of this was over and done with?
"Just friends huh?" Olivia teased a little, catching the sense of hesitation in She-ra's voice. "You sure you don't have any other feelings for him? Don't worry I won't tell!" She giggled. "Maybe I'll have to meet him someday, you know, when the weather is a bit better." She turned her head for a brief moment to look at the sky. Immediately she regretted the action. As her back hoof came down she slid a little one a rock, falling to the ground and skinning her hock a little. "Ooof!" She fell with a bit of a thud. "Well now, I guess that's what I get for not paying attention huh?" Carefully, Olivia gathered herself and got back onto all four hooves. She'd have to be more careful from now on. Next time she could manage to do a lot worse.
Collected once more, she began to speak again. "You know, I'm not all that far from here. Perhaps once the weather clears up and what not I could come visit you? I could always use a few friends, especially ones as helpful and pleasant as yourself. You'd be surprised by some of the soquili I've run into in the past. Not all of them are pleasant to be around." She allowed her words to trail off into silence. Not wanting to think much more into those thoughts.
