VOL
The earth was thrumming with life and death, birds falling softly to the earth to feed upon the small locust that munched upon the grasses of the savanna. With each quick drop of a bird a hopper met its reaper, whose responsibility it was to guide them to the afterlife.
All Vol could does was watch, amused at this fact. How very busy the reaper of insects must be on a day such as this. So many lives lost to the hungry birds, while he only fell one small wild dog in order to gorge.
Yawning he thought idly. Perhaps there were several reaper insects to help with all the work that they seemed to have. Or maybe there was only one… Did they ever get behind because of that? Taking another chunk out of the warm corpse, Vol smiled happily. The circle would forever be unbroken, and he would see to it that he would never get behind on his personal task.

Runya
The cubs were situated in the den, sleeping, as any good demon did during the day. Unfortunately, sleep eluded Runya. The Succubus had tossed and turned and tried to get comfy without waking the little ones...but that had failed. She had finally gotten to her paws, making sure her adopted cubs were still sleeping, and then ventured out after grabbing one of the decorated skulls the Kurwa'e Daelote had made her, to help shade her eyes from the harsh sun. If there was a 'hell' for demons, it was the bright light of the day that many of their eyes were not adjusted to. Runya could care less about the heat...she'd endured worse during her rite of passage.
Her paws led her just beyond the pride, nodding to the Tirma'ath she passed (one of Iartuupe's line, if she remembered correctly), and continuing out. Any who knew her knew she would be back. But at the moment...it wasn't unheard of for members to go just beyond lately...They needed new blood. As if summoned by that thought, the smell of blood on the wind caught her attention, her ears pricking forward in curiosity. Her red paws led her towards the scent, her lessons in moving silently from her mother kicking in.
Seeing another lion wasn't too much of a surprise. The fact he had demon colors was. Well now! Perhaps she'd found the source of her restlessness! She stayed where she was a moment, golden eyes observing.

VOL
Vol took a shaky breath, letting go of his thoughts for a moment as he plucked the eyes from the wild dog’s sockets. Both of them were the color blue but murky, boring, nothing like the sky above. They looked better when the female was alive, but she had been ready for death, she just needed a bit of guidance.
Popping one of the eyes into his mouth he crushed it quickly before spitting the remains into his stone bowl, mixing it with a couple claws and a piece of fur from the female. The last of the ritual would soon be done, and he would gain her knowledge from her skin, her power from her blood. Sending her off as a last thanks for her offering.
Picking up the small bowl, Vol move it carefully towards the rest of the body, blood drip, drip, dripping into the bowl, filling it slowly, thickening the already bloody, fleshy mess inside. As he waited for the bowl to fill he started chanting, most too soft to be heard while others clear as day.
“No wealth, no ruin, no silver no gold, nothing satisfies me but your soul.” Continuing to hum and chant he whispers, “My name is death and the end is here…”
Runya
How odd...Runya watched his ritual, an ear tilting to one side. It was like watching a more ritualized version of the ritual any demon used after hunting, or killing an enemy. Perhaps this male had a demon singing inside his own soul? How nice it would be if he did, and she could lure him into the pride...or, at the least, lure his seed in, keep the Aikanaro's bloodlines fresh. As his ritual went, she could feel her own demon whispering, taking interest in it. Occasus wasn't curious often...but it seemed this dark lion had caught the demon-soul's curiosity.
She'd wait until he was finished to say something. For all she knew, he would attack her if she interrupted. And thought she was MORE than capable of defending herself, she preferred not to get herself claw marks if there wasn't some fun attached to those claw marks.

VOL
Dark ears flicked back towards the sound of another behind him, yet he continued onward, pouring the blood over both his paws, then with a quick dip of his head, his masked fell off, his paw touching a very small portion of the skull, marking it for all to see. It would be dried there, and then marked over by many more blood offerings.
“None approach a reaper without needing something. What is it you seek?” Finally turning towards the lioness, his dark red gaze captured hers and never let go. He wouldn’t allow her to escape him, not after watching the full ritual like that. His mask lay beside him, blood drying slowly onto the surface, capturing the image he had created on it, while Vol himself stood almost emotionless before the female. Waiting to be riddled with questions and possibly get an answer of his own. Though he almost doubted he would get something straight from her, not at first.
“Well red one?”

Runya
Runya didn't start when he spoke to her, instead straightening and taking a step out of her cover, bowing her head low. "A reaper? I've not heard such a term before. As for what I seek...my paws were restless, so I followed them. I came across you. And both myself and the voice within were intrigued." That was the easiest way she could ever describe a demon to one who might be an outsider. "Curious. What is it you were doing, oh Reaper?" She kept a light smile on her face, one that was not demeaning or too eager...simply...questioning. Not belying any of the thoughts churning in her mind.
