Everyone else was napping and Azhar had long grown bored of studying the sleeping shapes around him. He already knew who snuggled with which cub, which adult they preferred to lean on and how peacefully they slept through the night (or, in this case, the midday's nap). Badiah seemed to be having a nightmare so Azhar gave her a light pat as he walked past her towards the mouth of the den. He caught a pair of familiar eyes watching him, orange and intense but when Zarha didn’t move or make a sound, he assumed he was either being given a warning or permission to leave. When he continued moving forward and the banu’s only reaction was a discreet nod, he took it as a sign that it was okay to go outside as long he didn’t stray too far. This was a peaceful pride and apart from the lake, there weren’t many dangers that might befall a lone cub.
Azhar looked around for any hints of activity but apart for a few birds in the air (one of which suspiciously resembled his father’s little spy), there wasn’t any one as far as he could see. Sighing, the cub let his body drop to the ground and rolled on his back to look at the sky, watching the funny cloud shapes above. The sun felt almost unbearably hot on his dark coat and the cub quickly realized he wouldn’t be able to stay out here for too long.

Quite suddenly, there was a dark-reddish face with a black skull marking on it blocking the sky from the cub's view.
"HI! What'cha doin?"
Ghaliya's bright blue eyes stared down into Azhar's gold ones and she looked so curious and playful, all bursting with energy! But then again, Ghaliya WAS bursting with energy - sneaking around like her siblings had taught her was HARD WORK! She had to be quiiiiiiiiiiiet, and stay close to the ground and blend in! It's very hard to blend in when you're dark pink! But now she could grin down at the other cub and bounce and be ready to play!

“Nothing much. Watching the clouds.” A wide-eyed Azhar answered somewhat belatedly, completely caught off-guard by the sudden appearance of another cub.
“You have very unusual eyes.” The scleras were pitch black. He’d heard about a Pad with such eyes from his father but he’d never actually seen someone with them. They were somewhat unsettling – or would be if the girl’s attitude didn’t ruin the effect. He even forgot to introduce himself but he did move to sit so he wouldn’t have to talk to the little banu from such a strange position. “Are you related to Pad Kame’bufuu?”

"That's my Daddy!" the little banu said proudly, backing up with an almost bounce as he sat up. "Mommy Kinaya and Daddy Kame!" The words were like they were the most important and proud thing ever.
"I'm Ghaliya. Do you want to play?" It seemed even she had forgotten that the other cub hadn't introduced himself, more interested in seeing what there was to do, "Or you could tell me about watching clouds! What do the clouds do?"

“Ah, yes. My father told me about your father. He said Pad Kame is very strong and honorable.” He was happy to have been proven correct but mentioning his own father reminded the cub of what he’d forgotten. Still, he waited until she was completely done speaking to continue. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, banu Ghaliya. I’m Azhar’Hilel, son of Pad Anwar. Everyone just calls me Azhar.” He looked up at the sky, taking a moment to watch the shapes above. “They’re moving really fast so I’m wondering if it’s windy up there and they make interesting shapes. That one looks like a hare, see?” He didn’t mention playing on purpose. With some luck she might forget about it, he hoped.
