Ver --- Erudeca --- Saileithe --- Freyr

It’s been a few weeks since he died… And it was hard. I didn’t think I’d handle it as well as I am now, but I guess that’s because I took it all out on her. Do I regret it? Sure I do, but what am I supposed to say to that?

The 4 Eeveelutions sprinted through the snow, as if a pack of wolves moving before the conditions were uninhabitable. The falling snow lit up for the time being. They picked their timing carefully for this mission. Moving in a storm was rather hard, even for a group.
Ver, a Flareon, lead the group, steps ahead of Freyr and Deca, a Leafeon and Umbreon, then Sai, a Glaceon following in the back. She was never one to keep up, but she stayed close so the others grew to stop worrying about her.
Prior, they told her to stay behind, but she claimed she felt okay enough to do a mission. Ver agreed rather quickly without much concern about the other opinion of the other two, catching onto the Glaceon’s cry for help.
Sai wasn’t energetic.
Sai needed to get her mind off of Darius.

I should have stayed. Ivy didn't need me there, at the hospital, Darius needed me on the battlefield. He needed me to sit there beneath him, see for him; protect him.
Tell him to watch out.

Deca was the first to the top of the mountain; the shiny Umbreon hopped and skipped around cheerfully as Ver came leaping up out of his Quick Attack. She stopped and looked down at Freyr and Sai as they made their way up then and called out to the two provokingly.
Freyr growled, bounding up at the Umbreon as she yelped and ran away in response. Sai continued to hop along the edges of the mountain’s side, Ver spotting her carefully.
Then, the Glaceon slipped.

--But I didn't.

Sai yelped out, causing Deca and Freyr to jump in alarm and rush back to the side. Looking down, they saw Ver already sprinting down the mountain before finally kicking off the side, catching the Glaceon, and smashing into a lower ledge.
The Flareon yelped out in pain, having turned his body so he would hit the ledge and Sai would fall on top of him.
The Glaceon fell into panic as she hopped off Ver, her heart running a mile a minute as she begged the Flareon to get up-- begged him to be okay.
Ver finally swatted at the air with his paw, telling Sai to back off a bit as he painfully rolled over onto his side, and then slowly dragged himself to his paws.
The Flareon stood for there a moment, panting in between winces as he gathered his balance, and then looked back up at his remaining two team members staring down at him and Sai now.
The confirmation that all was okay was entirely visual.

...And yet, every time he was there to stop me before I crashed, I'd tell him thank you. I'd mean it with all my heart, too.

Sai began to climb again, her small, nimble body leaping up on each ledge she’d lost her grip on until she finally made it to the top in slight panic. Deca and Feryr quickly assisted the Glaceon.
Ver remained down below on the ledge he’d fallen onto, staring up and making sure Sai had made it. Until the Glaceon was out of sight, he didn’t budge.

I don't know why Darius had the urge to continue on. He had no purpose after our kingdom fell, and he knew it. We tried supporting him and he just pretended he was okay. I always stopped and wondered if he really felt anything anymore. That, what he had left of emotion was taken away along with his eye that time long ago. He was always just half of himself after that. Maybe less.
And, to think we thought that was the end of the road for us… Mom even thought so.

The team eventually ran up to a deep, carved out hole in the mountain. It looked like it was ripped out by force.
They panted, their eyes scanning what best they could inside the darkness until Deca sprinted in. Ver barked at her to stop and come back, but they received no reply.
Freyr looked back down at Sai, who stood silent facing the ground in exhaustion. She shouldn’t have come along, but she really wanted to.
The Leafeon and Glaceon looked up then at the sound of Ver leaving into the cave, they went to follow, but he quickly told them otherwise and both of them stopped as if instinctively.
Sai’s ears lowered as she watched Ver off. Her Leafeon teammate towering over her showed little response at all. He just waited.
The two remained there for a few minutes until Ver and Deca came out with a Poochyena happily running behind them. Sai smiled weakly at the child. Thank G—h-e was –o-o… ….

Maybe Darius messed up on purpose. Maybe he foresaw what would happen and went through with it. Darius never lost and he wouldn't lose to a Typhlosion. Even Ver said the thing was damned... But, he actually died to it... Darius messed up and he paid for it.
He didn't even have a chance to redeem himself... I-it just...

The five began to flee from their post, the baby Poochyena keeping up with the other three better than Sai did at this point. She was tired, her body hurt, her lungs felt like they were on fire.
The Glaceon finally winced and jogged to a halt, teetering slightly as she gasped for air. Ver of course was the first to stop. Deca almost crashing into him but she quickly averted the Flareon in a giggle before going flying into the snow head first. Freyr just slowed into a trot, stopping by Ver as he looked back at Sai. The Poochyena, who they learned respectively by Ato, stood by Sai’s side. His tail low, his expression saddened.
The frail Glaceon finally looked up at her team. Her eyes tearing slightly. Deca who’d finally gotten her face out of the snow was quickly back at Sai’s side, walking about the Glaceon as she snuggled her and finally wrapped her body around her before laying down.
Ver knew they had to stop. They didn’t know for how long, but they had to. Freyr looked at the sky which still seemed rather clear. Maybe they could spare time? He and Ver sat down. Sai had already been limply laying against Deca’s side in tears with Ato snuggled up alongside her.

I keep finding myself stopping and wondering why we really still bother. What every injury leads up to, what every hit we take leads up to, what all these deaths will lead up to, nothing.

The group went on their way again, out of the mountainous terrain and back in the endless field of snow. They were running at what best pace they could in attempt to get out of here safely.
They couldn’t risk any hits as is. Sai was weak, Ver was hurt, and they had a child with them.
But, the group was stopped as a large Skamory was soon hovering overhead, glaring at them as it noticed the Poochyena. It’s beating wings kicked up the snow around them, and caused three of the five to step back in caution. Ver glared up at it, enraged. Deca sprinted at it, shrilling out as she took off into the air. Ver was close behind.

Nothing. Nothing at all. We're struggling to win an already lost war. We're killing ourselves and Darius was just the tip of it. Yes... Yes, nothing can make up for it...

Sai and Ato continued to slowly move back. The Poochyena hid behind the Glaceon barely any larger than itself, whimpering. That Skamory was definitely the one that attacked him and his mother before taking him away.
Freyr growled lowly. The dark Leafeon standing in front of Sai and Ato protectively as he glared up at the Skamory.
Ver eventually managed to get the Skamory on the ground, his body giving off fierce glows of fire and electricity as he was trashed about before being thrown off. Deca was quick to replace him, the Umbreon beating at the Skamory’s side with various dark endowed attacks. She moved swiftly, evading everything the Skamory tried to hit her with before it finally hovered up into the air. Deca gasped, her current attack following through and sending her tumbling forward as her head lifted to see the Skamory.
Ver went sprinting back at it and now Freyr dashed forward into the brawl as well.
The Skamory heightened itself, causing Ver to miss, and skid across the ground as he spun around and released a Flame Thrower. The Skamory released an Air Slash down at Deca as she regained her balance, and the Umbreon was sent flying from the direct hit, screaming out in pain as she skid across the snow.

We're all just going to die, aren’t we? ... Slowly, each one of us will get picked off and each time someone is picked off, a number of us still here will lose the rationality that once held our minds together.

Ver’s heterochromic eyes locked on the Skamory as it took out his teammate in one simple blow. It wasn’t messing around with them.
The Flareon paced along the side of their battle field, cautiously. Freyr was more so in the center, stepping about carefully as he growled up at the Skamory.
The large, steel bird moved back from the two, assuming they were plotting something against it. It’s eyes moved between the two quickly, nervously as a sharp, quiet sound escaped it’s beak.
Freyr twitched in anger before running at the Skamory as it’s glare rested back on Ver. The Flareon yelled out at him to stop, but the Leafeon was already clinging to the bird’s body. Glows of green surrounded around the two before slashing violently at the Skamory’s body and the bird began to panic, flapping it’s wings and flailing in the air to try and shake loose of the fox-like Pokemon.
The attack itself hardly hurt the bird, but it did make it panic. Ver’s body began to rock left and right with the motion of the Skamory. He grinded his teeth in anger. He couldn’t attack the Skamory from here—he’d hurt Freyr horrifically.

Sai winced in panic, turning to Ato as she buried the pup in the snow and took off after Ver. Crystals of ice began to form around her as she shot them like a machine gun at the bird.
Her attacks were simple and straight forward. She had a much easier time avoiding Freyr as he continued to tear at the Skamory’s body.
Ver propped her as the bird finally crashed into the ground and he began to approach it. His temperature began to rise higher and higher the closer he got.

The Skamory then screamed out. A horrifying sound that made all of the surrounding Pokemon jumped and wince before backing off. Freyr, being on the bird, stood completely dazed. His ears ringing and paining as he shook his head. The Skamory turned violently, slashing it’s wing along Freyr’s side and the Leafeon yelped, scrambling off the bird as he fell onto his side, flailing in pain while his side bled out from the Night Slash assault. Sai ran over to him, fear struck as she dove to his side and began to emit an Aqua Ring in hope—she had to do something.

Ver eventually came to, reregistering the situation as he looked at Freyr and Sai.
No. Nonono. Not again. Not…
He looked forward then, the Skamory screeched out as it dashed at the Flareon.

I wonder if maybe the higher ups realize this... Or are they blind? Do they think we have a chance?

Ver stepped back, hesitating as he entered shock and closed his eyes. Another yelp was heard, aided by the sound of blood gushing for but a second.
When the Flareon opened his eyes, he found himself covered in blood. Looking forward, the Skamory had it’s beak driven into Sai’s stomach.

After all... We're fighting G—

Ver was now frozen. His eyes wide in fear as he began to step back again and the Skamory threw the Glaceon off to the side, then glared back at him and released a brigade of Star-like shapes out and around him. The Flareon finally jolted, his body sprinted off to the side of the attack before reeling back and driving at the Skamory, tackling it to the ground. His jaws tore at the bird’s metallic body, fire leaking from his mouth and spaces laced between his teeth. The bird screamed out, shaking it’s body and flapping it’s wings as it tried to get lose from the large dog.

Having arms would have much such a situation much easier.

Finally, Ver was sent into the ground. He winced as his body hit the ground and he opened his eyes, happening to be looking in the direction of the Poochyena in the snow.
It was all bloody. There was no movement either.
Ver’s eyes widened… how…?
He was still, staring at the bloody pile of snow that homed the Poochyena. Then, he recalled the attack from before… That Swift attack wasn’t aimed at him… it was…

Ver shuddered in anger, glaring back up at the Skamory over him as it’s body dove down, beak first in attempt to stab the Flareon.
He quickly rolled out of the way, stood, and released another Flame Thrower.

I stop and wonder what would happen if I were in the situation of the one about to die... What would I be thinking? Would I accept it? Would I realize everything that's wrong because it's too late to say anything now? It... sounds welcoming. I don't know how much longer I can keep running from all this, too. I'm already tired. I don't know what I'm looking for anymore. I need Darius to set me straight. I need Darius to tell me we’re going to save the world one day.

Sai took a heavy breath as she struggled to her paws and painfully staggered over to the nearby Poochyena. Her eyes filled with tears as her lower body could no longer hold her weight and gave out, forcing the frail Glaceon to sit down.
She stared down at the dog, her eyes dilating from the blood loss as she cried heavier now. She eventually collapsed on the child, burying her head into the bloody snow as she sobbed; making no attempt to hold anything back.

If I had something small, something precious that I had to protect, would I? Successfully? I kept Darius together... He was never stable-- I know that, but I tried. I... I don't have that anymore, do I? Where's that urge, Sai? What would your mother say to you if she saw you like this?

The Skamory dodged around the Flame Thrower as it took to the air, and Ver sprinted off away from his fallen team. The bird followed him closely, as expected.
It triggered it’s Agility, making itself faster than the Flareon as it came close to the ground while Ver rebounded in a burst of speed back at the bird.
His Quick Attack was almost unnatural in his rage, the dog seemingly teleporting visually as he was suddenly face to face with the bird, glaring up at it. Time felt like it stopped during that second.
The Skamory’s mouth opened, releasing an Air Cutter at the mid animation Flareon, but he bounded to the side.
The shockwave following Ver from his straight forward Quick Attack prior followed up and hit the bird directly after a moment, making it teeter and land; flapping it’s wings viciously as it struggled to keep it’s ground.

The Flareon snapped. His jaw was suddenly imbedded in the side of the Skamory’s chest. His teeth broke through the bird’s metallic body after a moment, melting it, as well as bits and parts of his own collar. His eyes were wide in rage, refusing to budge from the ground as the bird shrilled out in fear and pain. It rolled off onto the ground, taking the Flareon that was less than half it’s own height with it.
Ver didn’t move though. His body against the bird’s just forced the Skamory’s body to continue to melt and burn alive.

Finally, the bird stopped screaming, it stopped moving and nearly a quarter of it’s body had various holes burned though. Ver remained still on the Skamory, his breathing hard as he let go a few moments later and he looked around for any signs of moment.
Ver then painstakingly walked over to Sai, his body shaking every few moments as he struggled for balance. Deca and Freyr didn’t seem as fortunate as the Glaceon.
For now, at least. She was still bleeding.

He stared down at the motionless Poochyena Sai continued to, though now quietly cry over. He hoped it was just hurt. He hoped it was just resting off the hit… but… this much blood…

Ver’s body began to shake and his fur began to bristle as he glared down. He finally snapped away, cursing and screaming into the air as he kicked at the snow in rage.
Sai didn’t respond to him at all and her crying slowly stopped. She was too tired to keep that up. Now she laid there in silence, her head resting on Ato’s lifeless body.

I wish I could tell you the missing answers, but I don’t know them either.

The Glaceon laid there in silence; her eyes staring into nothing before slowly going wide, her pupils shirking to mere dots and her jaw in turn shivering slightly.

Darius was blind when he got hit. He couldn’t see Gungnir get jogged back from that side.
… He had no idea it happened until he felt it.

Sai screamed and began flailing on the ground. Ver jumped and ran over to the Glaceon again, frantically asking what was wrong as he tried to control her and calm her down.

(Note: This mission was supposed to be an auto fail. It was done seriously until I had to redo it due to Darius' death. It was merely like this afterwards, for fun, nothing here is canon and it was done in about 2 hours so it's sloppy [though it was supposed to be to an extent].)
