Lily had indeed called Christa after their first meeting asking her if she would like to visit DCU with her on Monday after school let out. She said she was going to check out the campus, a few classes, talk to students and look into clubs. It seemed an exciting idea to Lily and she had even brought an outfit with her to change in not wanting to wander in her school uniform. She had told Christa to do the same.
This is what had Christa and Lily climbing out of her car in the parking lot of DCU to start their exploration. She looked to Christa as she locked up her car, which was technically a truck, but Lily always referred to as her car. Tomato, Tamato, right?
"I feel like a college student already," she whispered excitedly, not wanting to let on that she wasn't. She looked over her outfit, smoothing out her shirt and grinning at the details of her creme shirt that peeked out from beneath the floral shirt. It felt nice to know when she started in the fall their would be no more uniforms for her.
"All set," she asked quickly looking quite ready to begin their exploration.

As Christa stepped out of the truck, she suddenly felt under dressed. Lily was sporting lovely lace as always (or as Christa had assumed, always) while Christa's outfit consisted of a long-sleeved top in earth tones, hardly-worn jeans and flat shoes. She wanted to be comfortable during their excursion, and along with her simple outfit, she brought a small backpack. In her hands were a notepad and pen, ready to take notes and write down any questions she had. It was very nice of Lily to invite her to see the campus, and her aunt and uncle wholeheartedly agreed and were happy that Christa had made another friend.
She stood next to Lily and gazed out at the campus. Not having to wear a uniform definitely had its perks, but Christa found herself painfully aware that her wardrobe was sorely lacking in much of anything. If she was going to go to college, a shopping trip would certainly be in order. "I hope the admissions aren't too steep." Christa said, eying the campus buildings. The grounds were nicely kept, which surprised her for some reason. Sometimes she'd picture DCU as a dump because some kids at school would call it that. She'd never seen the campus before.
Turning to the redhead, Christa gave a soft smile. "Where to first?"

Lily grinned and shook her head, "I do not think it is too expensive and they offer scholarships and financial aid, so do not worry about it to much." She noticed Christa look at her outfit, which made her look a Christa's. They looked very different and it made Lily wonder if she had gone overboard. It wasn't a hot day, pretty cool and she heard the college turned their ac on in April, so she worn something good for that. It occurred to her Christa might get cold and so she knew just the thing for the difference in style.
"I think we should try to find the cafe first, hopefully they have something good, but first," Lily went into the back seat of her car and pulled out a half sweater she was sure matched Christa outfit, it would be so vintage chic, not that Lily actually knew that. "You might get cold. I hear they turn the ac on in April, for the computer classes sake."
She handed over the jacket and waited to see if Christa would take it.

The gray haired teen was surprised at the offering of a sweater, and put her notepad in her backpack before taking it carefully. "Are you sure? It looks so nice... thank you very much." She gingerly put on the sweater and wondered if Lily would take her shopping sometime before she graduated. Christa liked to look decent, but her style was somewhat... demure? She didn't know how else to describe it. She liked what she liked. Taking up her backpack and notepad again, she began walking with Lily in the direction of the campus directory. Did Lily know where the cafe was? She knew a lot about the campus, so no doubt her siblings had been students here before.
"I do have some scholarship money saved up. Maybe one of the professors or admissions advisers can give us some info on the classes we want to take? And our majors?" Christa didn't know too much. She would be the first in her immediate family to go to college, and her father went to school out of state. He couldn't vouch for DCU just yet.
She teen turned to the redhead. "Are you going to major in music when you go here? I'm assuming they start in the fall like other public schools go. It's an awfully nice campus." Would she want to live on campus in a dorm? Maybe Melinda would want to go to DCU as well. She'd have to talk to her cousin to find out.

Lily nodded as Christa put on the sweater, it looked cute on her even went well with her hair. Lily could not help, but to grin. "It fine, I have far to many clothes. My sister like to shop, so she shops for me too. If you like it, you can have it. It looks good on you."
She walked with Christa looking around, the last time she had been up here Xander was still and school and that had been several years ago, she was still in middle school then. She would have to look at the campus directory as she had not had orientation yet, but she was pretty sure she could find her way.
"I am sure we will be able to get all of that information, the advisers were very friendly with Xander, my brother. He said they were usually very helpful. Oh look I think that the directory over there."
She started walking toward it and turned to Christa when she asked about majors. "Yes, they start in the fall. I was going to attempt to take a double major, but that isnt realistic for me right now, so I yes for now I will simply major in music. I am excited to get started and really show what I can do. It will be strange to be graded on something I do all the time anyway."
She looked to the notepad in Christa's hand and grinned, "come with lots of questions then," she asked motioning to it.

Christa blinked, not knowing what to say about the offer of keeping the sweater. It looked like one of those expensive-but-it-doesn't-look-like-it sweaters from specialty boutiques Christa knew nothing about. It could be really expensive! She felt something poking at her skin on the sleeve and pulled it out. A tag? Oh lord... Gingerly and with a cringe, she flipped it over.
Target, $9.50 on clearance.
...oh.
Well then, that made the weight on Christa's shoulders dissipate slightly. If Lily was offering for her to keep a sweater that cost about as much as lunch for two people, then she didn't feel so bad. "If you're alright with it... I mean, it's a very nice sweater. I really appreciate the offer." It was soft, snug and fit rather well. Lily was a very generous person and knowledgeable to boot. Christa was really starting to warm up to her. The story about Xander made her more relaxed. So Lily did have some experience with the college campus! Not bad. "It would be strange to be graded on something you do all the time but I bet it's nice to be around like-minded people. You know, people who want to be in school as opposed to the kids in our classes right now who would rather be somewhere else."
At the mention of her notepad, Christa nodded and smiled. "I came with an open mind and a blank notebook. I figure, if I can write some things down, I can remember them easier, even if I forget to ask for something. Someone might say something I find very useful, you know?" As they walked, they found the directory and Christa stood there, trying to absorb it all.

Lily nodded and grinned. It wasn't a problem at all, she had clothes in her closet she never even wore, so getting rid of one thing was nothing. She had no idea and that their was a tag in the sleeve, and would be none the wiser to the fact that her sister had actually stepped foot into a Target and both something on clearance. Le gasp, her sister wasn't the type, but Lily did not really care where it came from so long as it was comfy and cute.
She grinned nodded, "I brought a notebook too, it's in my bad with my laptop, along with a extra folder, because the ones they hand out are so full of stuff already and they give you more."
She looked at the board in from of her looking for the cafe, the one her brother had taken her to that one time and it took a minute to find it, but she was happy to see they were close and she did indeed remember the way there.
"I found the cafe, were close, it a bit more to the middle, just there," she said pointing to a building," two behind that one. If I remember correctly."

Christa nodded once the directions were found. It was still daylight out, probably around 4 PM if her watch was right. Almost time to be thinking about dinner, but a snack after a long day at school was always welcome. Maybe the cafe had some Indian food? She loved Indian food. Clutching the notepad to her chest, she watched as other students milled around them. She watched their body language, their faces, they manner of dress. Just like in high school, she could clearly tell who was forced to go to school here, who loved it here and who was busy ditching class. Some things never changed.
She brought her wallet with her too, in a small purse she carried with her. "What are you looking to get at the cafe, Lily? And where to after that?" Honestly, she loved looking at all the buildings. The campus seemed to sprawl for miles and miles in every direction. It was clearly much bigger than Meadowview High, that was for certain.
Lily's mentioning of a folder made her think... maybe there was a small orientation? Or it was standard for the advisers to hand out lots of paperwork. Either way, her aunt and uncle and no doubt her father would be proud to see Christa coming home with paperwork from the local college. It meant she was interested in higher education. Maybe it would do her some good to major in creative writing or something, It would have to be something she was passionate about or she couldn't do it. "Maybe a poppyseed bagel... ooh, or some hummus. Do you like hummus, Lily?"

Lily gave a thoughtful look as they headed toward the cafe, "I am not sure," she said, "I do not recall everything they have. I have a pretty good memory, but not that good. I would like some tea though."
The continued on and Lily looked around just as Christa was watching the students mill about. Some were rushing to class, other simply sprawled in the grass, students were everywhere. It made her happy and excited to see so many new faces.
When Christa asked her about humus, she shook her head, "I have never had it before, but if they have it I am most certainly willing to try it. Poppyseed bagels are bad either. I bet they have halves too, wouldn't want to ruin my dinner appetite."
Lily rounded the corner and started pass the first building knowing the cafe was behind the second.

"I like tea too. I'm not sure how long we'll be out, so I guess I don't know if I should get a meal or just a snack..." She tapped her pen against her chin thoughtfully. She supposed she should have asked how long Lily estimated this would take so she could plan her dinner accordingly, but she didn't want to seem like she was rushing. She really wasn't. Soon they were upon the cafe and it was a quaint little shop with tables and chairs outside under umbrellas so people out eat out there if they wanted. There were tables indoors too for when it was too cold or dark to eat outside. Now Christa had to think...
When they walked just inside the door, Christa moved out of the way to look at the menu. They did have hummus and flat bread in several size orderings, so a small order of that and some tea sounded fantastic. Once there was a break in the line, Christa ordered her things and bought Lily some tea and a half bagel with cream cheese.
"I hope you don't mind me paying for your snack. It's the least I could do." she said over her shoulder, handing the cashier her payment. The order would be ready momentarily.

Lily nodded she knew they could be here for a while, but she suggested snack because they could eat dinner later. A full meal now, just after four would have them hungry again later in the evening, not that the pair wouldn't be patrolling anyway, though neither knew this about the other or that they were on the same team.
She was happy to allow Christa time to look over the menu while she let her eyes wander of the crowd. It was eclectic, even more so than high school with tons of different hair styles and colors, clothes, and laptops, in many colors. It amused her. She was so caught up in her people watching moment that she had not realized Christa ordered for her, but she accepted it with a smile and thanked Christa.
"That was very kind of you," she said before leading the way to the table and sitting down to enjoy her tea and bagel.
She took a sip of her tea and then looked at Christa, "now if I remember the admissions office is just a few building to the right. I am pretty sure that what the map said as well. We can go through the inside of the building and take a peek at some classes while we walk. There are so many students here I bet the classes are much bigger than Meadowview."

Chewing on her flat bread and hummus, Christa took to watching the students pass by them. Lily picked the perfect seat for people watching, and Christa saw such a wide variety of people here. Some had laptops, iPods, bikes, roller blades, skateboards; some had business looking attire, very professional and others looked like they'd just fallen out of bed. It was very different from Meadowview, which required a uniform all the way down to shoes. Here, nothing was really restricted save for going to class nude. That would just be awkward.
Swallowing the piece she'd been working on, Christa nodded to Lily as she pointed out the buildings. "I bet the classes are way bigger than at Meadowview. Aren't some of the bigger lectures like... hundreds of students? Can you imagine that many people crammed into one room?" Picking up another piece of flatbread, she made another comment. "And how many of them would be asleep during the lecture? I mean, if you're going to be there, might as well pay attention. What's the point of sleeping in class?"
She shook her head and chewed on the next piece.

Lily laughed lightly after swallowing a bit of bagel, "If there are hundred of student, it depends on what it is. I doubt to many would be asleep if it is something fun, like world music, but I bet tons will sleep through English."
She had a wistful look as she thought about being a student at DCU, attending classes and having more adult freedoms. She wouldn't live on campus, so there was the no curfew to look forward to. She was excited. She simply could not wait for graduation.
She munched on her bagel resuming her people watching for a moment before looking back to Christa. "It is funny, it feels like we have been friends much longer than just a short while," she murmured before taking another bite of bagel and chewing it up.
Sipping her tea she grinned, she knew it was random what she had said, but that what popped into her head at the moment. "Have you always lived in Destiny City?"

Christa made a gesture with her hands, like waving, as she was finishing the last piece of her meal. "I'm sure they wouldn't fall asleep in something like world music, but I'm talking Geology 101 or something like that. Those basic classes everyone has to take no matter what. My dad was talking about it. He had a hard time through Biology 101 and he was a med student. Imagine that." Naturally most people didn't see English like Christa did. She loved English classes, being a writer. It made her happy like music made Lily happy.
Leaning back in her chair with her meal finished, Christa watched as people filled the outdoor malls and walkways before disappearing again. Classes had a somewhat strict schedule here, and many were going on at the same time since students seemed to disappear all at the same time. Lily looked excited and anxious. She must have wanted to graduate quickly. Christa on the other hand was happy she had another year to get through.
"Maybe we were friends in a past life?" she joked, shaking her head. "Yes, I've lived here all my life. Born and raised. Yourself?"

"I like science. I do not think Genealogy would bore me, but math. Any math class is on the top of my list of, please not that. My sister went to art school, but if she went her she'd have fallen asleep or skipped Bio, Genealogy, English, Math and really anything not acting related." Of course Lily was over exaggerating, but it was mostly true. Rose was not an academic, even if she was smart.
She finished her bagel and continued to sip her drink grinning when Christa mentioned a pass life. It instantly made her think of Maia, but Christa wasn't a a senshi so, she pushed the thought away.
"I bet we were," she said with a laugh. "I was born and raised here as well. Would could have no each other when we were younger."
She finished her drink and stood gathering up their trash and quickly dumping it in a trash bin before going back to the table. "Come lets go. I bet there are a few classes in session now. I know some teachers leave their door open."
