Now there s this guy who I don t really know well,if not,at all.
And I wonder if I should try to make friends with him.
Now,I ve tried to start a friendly conversation but then I go into this
survey mode.Where I ask questions ..
The first time I asked a silly question and he answered it kindly but based on it s silliness it was awkward..
The second time I talked/questioned him --It was embarrassing..

So Here s the thing.He s going to leave
and I m confused about fate s job..
I think fate does its thing but you have to do something too
rather then sit back and expect great things to happen..
so what should i do?

It seems so easy to make friends with people but sometimes you re
simply nervous or not sure..Awkwardly confused in other words.

How do you end up being friends anyways..or is it ; Awkward conversation.Awkward encounters.no friendship what so ever ?

Be friendly, not 'needy'.
If it comes off like you are trying too hard it will usually fail or only get you the kind of friends who collect people they can use.

A little bit but it's often hard to get a good read on someone from a few comments in a forum post compared to if you are there in person seeing the whole communication (tonal inflections, body language etc.)

I was temped to say, "Be a cat not a puppy" but that sounded a little too campy and like I wasn't taking you seriously. It's just my own mental shortcut way of saying it because so many puppies seem like they are trying way too hard to be your friend.

I'm like you in terms of friends 'just happen'. I'm not much of a social butterfly and most of the time friends seek me out. However I'm also the kind of person content with a few close friends. Other friends I don't see very much I tend to consider acquaintances rather than friends. I suppose if you want a specific friend it helps to be a bit proactive.

Being older I find it easier than I did when I was young. In school you have different types of people in the same location due to geography. In adult life you can go to events or activities you like and typically meet other people there who like the same thing so you at least start off with one thing in common. Also less pressure. In 'real life' very few people care if you asked someone out and it didn't work out. Good luck. smile
