The fears of not being able to provide for his pride, his family were very real for Wakia and the aging lion wasn't happy about that feeling, it was a foreign concept, even though the Firekin lived in a rough environment, they survived -even thrived at times.

With the lack of water Wakia had been on edge, he needed to do something to calm himself. And if there was one thing the firekin's did for recreation, and to relieve stress it was spar. Wakia had approached his son, asking for a friendly duel of sorts. - no real honor was on the line, although it did hurt his pride a bit to lose. The lion was a proud father, always no matter what and he was so happy to know his son, and daughter were strong fighters, he knew they sparred often to improve their skills.

The dark pelted lion stood across from his son flexing muscles, his body was no longer in peak physical shape, but the older male still had a lot of the fire inside of him.

"Ready?" He sounded almost cheerful.

Chaka stood across from his father, thinking about the last time they had dueled. It had been one of the first times Chaka had really been in a fight initiated completely outside of his training and he had won.. and then Shisa had beat him. That was around the time they really started getting along better and when he really began to improve.

Not that he'd ever been bad at fighting, of course.

"Ready when you are," he shot back, grinning. Chaka was actually rather cheerful, the water shortage had not really gotten to him just yet. His mind was so far from the big picture, he was slower catching onto concerns outside those of the army.

Move: Bide

Wakia nodded and started to circle, his son was younger, and obviously had a lot more training when it came to war. Wakia could have fooled them when they were smaller, speaking of his times during The War, but now they were skilled in fighting - and knew their old man wasn't some fabulous war hero.

Doing what Wakia does best talking, "I've been wanting a rematch for a long time, Chaka. It's not every day that I get to see you in action, all your battle know-how."

He continued to circle, eyes on the other lion trying to determine the course of action here, he'd asked for the rematch, but he wasn't an aggressor in battle - he liked to lie in wait.

Move: Hit!

"I've only gotten better since then," Chaka said, his tone almost a warning, though clearly amused. His attitude had changed a lot since their last duel, something he recognized as a major contributing factor to his improvement.

He moved along to keep his eyes on his father as he circled at first but he was never one to wait for something to happen unless he really didn't want to be dueling or was making a point- something that happened only rarely.

Predictable as always, Chaka moved quickly, aiming a simple tackle directly at Wakia.

Move:Bide.

He should have known to expect that, tackling was one of his son's signature moves, but it didn't occur to him that Chaka would be so direct. He stumbled backwards, and lost his footing in the loose sand, just avoiding being pinned beneath the other lion. A bit jarred by the attack, he took a moment to recoup, and stop seeing stars, before skirting away from Chaka, if the younger lion would be that direct at first nothing was stopping him from attacking right away.

"I've always been so proud of you son," he nodded, "Getting better is all that I've ever wanted from you."

He was talking again, biding his time really until a move struck him. What could you expect from an old story teller? Just being in conversation-and-sparring with his son was helping the older lion relax, let off the steam that was being pent up inside him.

He was sure his time to strike would come.

Move: Hit!

Chaka was not very good at chit-chat while dueling, though he had been able to work it into a duel before-- mostly using it as a distraction technique. He didn't normally want that to happen to him but this was his father and Chaka had the advantage of practice anyway. So he listened, picking himself up and letting his father move away.

"Of course, what's not to be proud of?" he asked, grinning and shaking the sand from his fur. He turned himself to face his father and took only a couple slow steps before moving forward quickly once again. This time he would see if he could get his father off his feet another way, waiting for the perfect moment to knock his feet from beneath him.

Move:...third times a charm. Miss.

Wakia was about to agree, but just as he opened his mouth his feet pulled out from beneath him, tossing off his balance. The older lion fell, sending sand flying around him in a cloud of dust. If it wasn't dark enough from the dying sun, it was getting pretty hazy from their actions.

"Oh, that stings," he gritted his teeth feeling sand inside of his mouth and eyes. Maybe he was a little too old for the fighting, although there were much older - Bodaway was still having children, still wondering around.

Wakia scrambled to his feet and taking a chance darted toward his son, hoping to catch Chaka off guard..

Move: Hit!

Despite the fact Chaka was used to dueling, he couldn't help but flinch as he knocked his father to the ground- but he didn't waste any time getting back to avoid letting Wakia get a shot in right away.

"Gonna let me get away with that?" he called as Wakia collected himself again and got up. Chaka had far too much time to see what was coming and with surprisingly good timing, he jumped sideways out of the way, turning himself about and aiming a hard shove.

Move: Miss
Wakia took the shove holding his ground in the sands, he didn't have time between his failed attacks and the offensive from Chaka. He knew he would be feeling the pain in his body later, but the lion also knew that he'd ask for it, a friendly match between them.

He dug his back feet into the sand and attempted to lash out with a paw to slash Chaka's chest, they were close enough, but Wakia wasn't sure with Chaka's speed and training if he wouldn't see it coming and move away. The more he saw his son in action the happier he was, Chaka and Shisa trained hard, and it showed, even if Chaka was only beating up on an old guy.

Move: Miss!

As soon as Chaka felt his father resist the shove and stand his ground, he knew he had to move or he was going to be hit. As Wakia resisted and lashed out, Chaka managed to push himself away from his father and just out of reach. He wasn't pushing his luck anymore, he wasn't normally that well timed, so he backed off- but only far enough to get a breath and leap back at Wakia, pouncing.

Move: SKADOOSH?!...Bide.

Wakia dropped to all fours chuckling. His attack had missed, not that he thought he was going to do much damage anyways. He'd let off his steam and was ready for this to end, ready to go back to the den and spend time with his mate, Umlilo. There was enough time for the storyteller to plan how to articulate some of the things he wanted to say to her.

He was expecting the retaliation and was able to side step the pouncing attack. Wakia's side stepping turned into his circling, trying to tell his son that it was over, instead of seeming like he was admitting defeat. The dark colored lion was tired, and done.

Move: Miss!

Chaka landed and whirled around, ready to move-- but his opponent was circling, the duel was winding down now. Chaka knew he was winning, so far his father had done more dodging and moving around than actually trying to attack.. but that was part of a duel, part of fighting. Chaka had won a duel before, only staying out of the way and keeping on his feet.

Despite having just took a leap at Wakia, he tried it again- it was poorly aimed and the intent was more to see if he could provoke his opponent back into the fight or if they were really done now.

8-11: Chaka wins!

Chaka's attempt at rekindling the match hadn't worked, Wakia saw the attack coming and side stepped away from his son's pounce. His chest heaved a little from trying to catch his breath. The lion had gotten what he wanted, time to relax, not to have to think about the lack of water, and if he would be able to continue to provide for the pride.

"I'm thinking that's it, you win," he denied saying again, he was a bit older now than their first duel, and his pride wasn't nearly as hurt - it was good to know that the next generation could take care of itself, and do better than the generation before.

"You're fantastic, son," he complimented, "you win."
