[[RP Takes place just outside Ela Pride lands where Svgata has elected to explore the roguelands just a little.]]

Svgata
Often Svgata had listened to his parents' tales of the rogue lands. Born in the pride's lands, he'd never seen them himself. His father's tales were of wide open grassy areas, jungles, even a desent he'd seen before coming to his land. As hard as he tried, the adolescent lion couldn't imagine what his father described. His thoughts always turned back to what he knew best; his home.

He'd begun practicing to hunt as well, and after hearing one of the stories he'd decided to head towards the border, not the pride's usual hunting grounds. If anyone asked, he wasjust looking to practice alone, and where his attempts wouldn't disrupt the pride's own herds. But in reality he wanted a look at thsoe fabled rogue lands.

Tia'Moyo
She was hungry, there was no doubt about that. Having deviated from her usual resting spot, she found herself in lands that weren't entirely familiar to her. She was in rogue lands of course, she wasn't so lacking in intelligence that she would cross borders, but that didn't necessarily mean the leopard was aware of precisely where she was. All she could discern was that she wasn't near her jungle anymore and it was significantly drier in these parts than it was at home - certainly not the most desirable of locations.

Nevertheless, she wasn't one to be overly concerned with such trivial issues and while it wasn't her preference, she'd seen worse. Rather than dwell on something so silly, she opted instead to satiate that insistance hunger that followed a good night's rest. Thus, in no time at all she was up and about, shaking off her fur and proceeding forwards towards what she estimated to be a reasonable hunting ground. She'd seen something in passing, a den or three, and they might prove to be a fitting place to dine. Unaware of the approaching and inquisitive adolescent, the leopardess broke into a mild 'trot' and pressed on towards her destination.

It would be rabbits for dinner!

Svgata
At first the rogue lands didn't look very different at all, and so Svgata hadn't noticed when he crossed into them. He'd anticipated a sudden change, almost, a clean line of devision in what made the pride and rogue worlds different. That hadn't happened, and so his mind had begun wandering. The sound of something wandering by made his ears perk, and he hunkered down. Prey already? He almost didn't want to go after it. If he made a kill he'd have to take it home--his adventure'd be done!

Of course, he had made a big show of going hunting for his age-mates. If he came back with nothing he'd be laughed at. Maybe he could win a meal now, and stash it for a little? Yeah, that would work. He crept through the grass on his belly, trying to figure where the sound'd come from.

Tia'Moyo
She wasn't born yesterday, she knew the sounds, the sights and the smells - not strictly downwind from her, Svgata's scent had caught her attention. It was a moment she would have generally ignored if she'd been at home - when one was in a tree, anything that wandered underneath it was generally harmless. However, out in the open where she was predominantly exposed she was a touch more vulnerable. Instincts causing the hair on her neck to rise just a touch, she drew herself to a halt and listened for a little more. Her ears flicked and twisted while her nose gave a quiver of anticipation - it was a foreign scent but lacked the telltale stomach churning quality of a carrion. She could discern from that, that whatever had elected to follow her wasn't a Hyena. This was a good thing, she abhorred the bloody dogs!

A bemused smile crept onto her lips and after a considerable delay she finally turned her head in the direction of the sounds. With a lazy gaze she sought out the culprit, though as of yet she hadn't been able to place where, who or what he was. "You know," she began in a wistful tone, light and breezy. "I can smell you, whoever you are," she pointed out and canted her head to the side; speaking in to thin air was one of her special abilities apparently. "You should probably work on that..."

Svgata
Caught out, Svgata poked his head up above the grass. "You smell me? But I thought..." He pauses as a gust of wind rushed past him from the back. "...Oh. I'm upwind. Heh." He stood up more fully and tried not to look embarrased. He knew better than that, he really did! "I wasn't really hunting you though...I thought maybe you were a vebra or antelope or...hmm. What are you anyways?"

He could tell she wasn't a lion, but...what did that make her? His father had mentioned weird non-lion cats in his tales, but even he'd been just a cub in the days he'd seen them. What had he said they were called? "Are you...a cheetah? Oh, or a leopard! I bet that's it, you don't look really skinny." He smiled brightly and pushed his way closer through the grass. At last the rogue lands were seeming...rogue-y! "I'm Svgata. Svgata Galvquodi!"

Tia'Moyo
Her bemused expression deepened considerably as he enquired as to what she was. Suffice to say, Tia had never met another individual who wasn't aware of her species. She was thankful for one thing though, he hadn't mistaken her for an antelope...if such a thing had occured they would be in rather dire straights. That being said, a closer inspection of him did indicate that he wasn't a lion that happened to fit into these parts either, he was as much foreign to her as she was to him. How bizarre, perhaps he came from the pride lands nearby? She'd never had the pleasure of running in to many but she had heard they all looked 'different'.

"I'm a leopard," she replied in a good natured tone, never even thinking to take offence at his remark about not being skinny. He was accurate in his observation, she wasn't as skinny as a cheetah so why would she bite his head off for it? Vanity was not her strong point, it required too much effort! "And what are you? The lions around these parts don't look nearly as peculiar as you do," she mused. She seemed to have all but forgotten his question and then lazily, with another tilt of her head, she spoke again. "And my name is Tia'Moyo, though most just call me Tia."

Svgata
He grinned, thinking her name was like his, split up. Tia Moyo. The lions in his home all had last names, family names, so it made sense she'd have one too. "Tia it is then! Everyone just calls me Svgata too, unless there's something formal going on." He was a little surprised at her observation. "They look different? How?" He lifted a paw to inspect it. Had coming into the rogue lands changed him some how? Was there grass or a twig in his mane?

"I look just like all the other lions..." The rogue lands were WEIRD. "See? This means my name." He pointed to the tree-like tattoo on his front leg. "And this one's for my family...But, you don't have those marks. I guess leopards don't do that?" He gasped, looking at her with renewed interest. "Or don't you have a family? Are you lost?" He couldn't imagine what he'd do if he was so lost from home he couldn't find his way back. Home and family were important, they were his life, all life, right?

Tia'Moyo
They wrote all over themselves to indicate their names? Whatever happened to a little bit of mystery! Around here, being an enigma could prove advantageous in many respects - it could either be used as a method of seduction (even if that was effort) or simply to ensure you weren't tracked by your enemies. She concluded that his pride were unlikely to be subjected to such hostilities, or alternatively, didn't believe in the art of seduction in that way. Perhaps they had other methods of courtship but she was fairly certain they would require just as much work, if not more work, than those that were often employed out here.

"You look like a type of lion," she replied with a smile and lowered herself to the ground. Coiling her tail around her hind legs, she eyed him and his markings for a little while longer. "But you stand out far more, you are not subtle as those in these lands would be," she explained, or at least she attempted to explain. "Here we like to keep our names a secret until we know someone can be trusted," she added after a moment. "By the way you have the oddest shaped mane I have ever seen," she observed. It was then she paused and her eyebrow promptly shot up - what on earth gave him the idea that she was lost!

"I have a family," she assured him, perhaps a touch wrily. "But I don't live with them...and no I'm not lost, I know where I am in a roundabout way," she said. However she did pause for thought at the niggle in the back of her mind, as technically, she was actually lost but she sincerely doubted this oddball could fix that issue for her.

Svgata
What? He was so confused. It was really kind of funny, how much he apparently stood out. "Well I am a lion! Both my parents were lions, and theirs before them too. How am I badly suited? Because of my tattoos? Wel...before I told you, you couldn't read it, right?" He looked closer at the tree on his leg. Would it cost him to be out in the rogue lands with these markings? He couldn't imagine being withoutthem though. They told his story, they really and truly were his life, written on his very fur.

He bristled briefly when she insulted his mane, and he ran a paw over it to smooth it down. "It's still growing in," He explained. "It'll look better once I'm grown up. I'm almost ready to be an adult, you know." He puffed his chest a little proudly. He felt he was about ready to take on those responsibilites. Of course...being an adult usually meant finding a wife. It would be pointless to be a great hunter or pridal leader if you had no one to share it with. He had absolutely no luck in that are. Maybe it wasn't good to rush towards adulthood...He deflated a little thinking about it.

"Oh you do? That's great. Family's wonderful. Father taught me everything he remembers about the rogue lands. Not that I'd stand out here though!"

Tia'Moyo
Oh he was shy! Her bemused expression transformed in to one of genuine amusement and she released a rather light chuckle. Her canines bared briefly, but with the smile reaching up to crease her eyes she looked utterly harmless. Males were so amusing in that respect, make a tiny little observation and the excuses came out! It was utterly adorable, that pat down on his head was enough to seal her view of him - he might reckon he was ready to be an adult but she reckoned he needed to become more comfortable in his own fur first. He was reasonably tall though, so she did hazard a guess that age wise he was getting close.

"Oh I'm sure it will," she agreed with a smile and shook her head. "Even females look gangly as teenagers, but I didn't mean it like that," she explained and shifted her weight, rolling her shoulders just a touch. "All I meant is that it's really spikey, every other male out here has a very poofy one," she informed him. Her observations were correct as well, they didn't seem to have that 'sheered' look to them, it seemed to be more of a 'wild man' esque appearance that they went for. Not that she minded of course, they were rather pleasant to admire as she reclined in her trees.

"But yes, your tattoos make you stand out around here, they're not a bad, they look pretty interesting actually but most folks around here barely have one, let alone a whole coat full!" she chimed.

Svgata
"Well...okay then." His young pride was tender, but he had enough manners to know that it was right to accept an apology if it was genuine. She didn't seem mean, so he wouldn't be mad at her. "Really? Girls too?" He hadn't noticed his sisters looking odd, but then, they were his sisters. He was nice to them, and loved them, but he didn't pay attention to those aspects about them.

"Huh. I wonder why their manes are different. I don't do anything to mine." It was true. Maybe the exact temperatures and altitudes of his pride's home had made it grow in different, but he didn't know enough about those kinds of influences to guess at that being the reason. "Oh, I don't have a full coat yet. I've got a lot of life left to live!" He glanced at his hindquarters, yet unmarked by tattoos. "When I get very old and die I'll probably be covered though. That's, uhm, that's what our pride does." He turned sideways to show off his full lenght of sprawling tattoos. "This is my life so far. But there's lots of room left to add on. But no one knows exactly what they all mean but me."

Tia'Moyo
"So you paint your own, or do you request that someone else does?" she enquired, finally taking a greater interest in his tattoos. He seemed to take great pride in them and since she'd figured out he was of no threat to her, she was comfortable to chat away. Besides, she'd never met someone who was destined to be covered from head to tail tip in paint before; it was intriguing - her own markings were natural but she could never picture being covered like that... Wouldn't the paint begin to rub or clump?

"It would seem you've experienced quite a bit all ready," she mused after a moment; sure she couldn't understand anything that she was looking at but she could observe the amount of his body that was currently covered. "But would this mean you are destined for the role of a hero, a bard or a wandering scout?" she added, moreso to herself than anyone else but he was more than welcome to settle this enquiry for her.

Svgata
"The clan heads usually do it. If you do something really important though...or really bad...sometimes the pride leaders will do it. I don't have any marks from the pride leader." Maybe one day, and, he hoped, for something good, not bad. "Well some of it's not mine. I got them up my leg here when I was just born. Sort of like my family history, I guess. Some of the markings are a lot like my dad's, and probably if I am ever lucky enough to have cubs, they'll have some of the ones I have."

"What? Hmm, no, not really. Right now I just want to be a hunter. A good one. Everyone has tattoos, from the littlest cub to the oldest elder. The only ones that don't are the ones that come from Outside and join the pride. They can get some though. Not as many, and they don't have a family name, because they weren't born on our lands, but they still can have some." That was what'd happened with his parents. Both mother and father had done very well i nthe pride, and were about as covered as anyone joining from outside could be. But they would never have the same full-body tattoos he and his siblings would.

Tia'Moyo
Her eyes sparkled a little at the irony of his words; if he wanted to be a good hunter then he was going to have to make sure he was more than just a little downwind! That being said, he simply could have been having an off day in that respect. Add this to the fact that she was a female of heightened instincts and he was going to come against some sort of protection anyway. Even if she hadn't smelt him or heard him, that little sense that someone was watching her probably would have kicked in - she hated that sense, it was a pain in her rear and gave her such awkward tingles.

"I see," she replied and she really did see. It was a novel approach to documenting a creature's history and made it very apparent that family was a ver important aspect of his pride. "So on occasions they can be badges of honour or marks of shame," she observed, her mind filing the pictures away as if they were defined as scars or trophies. "Let us hope you end up with many badges of honour then," she added, her smile deepening. "But if you are aiming to be one of the best hunters in your pride then why are you out here? Wouldn't logic state that it would be wiser to become completely aware of the lay of your pride lands?" she paused and then lifted a brow. "Oh I say, this isn't some sort of coming of age test, is it?"

Svgata
And he lifted a brow right back at her. "You mean like something where I have to hunt something out here? Like you? Haha, no! We don't do that kind of thing, really. And I know my pride pretty well. I've been hunting there before. I...well really I just wanted to see the rogue lands. So I said I'd come out here and hunt. That way I wouldn't scare any prey that the real hunters are after inside the pride itself." It'd made sense before, but maybe it was a silly idea.

"I hope I am a good enough lion to be worthy of one day getting a mark from the pride leader! A good one, not a bad one! I don't know what I could do to earn it though. Maybe kill something really big? I dunno...some of the adults in my pride are a lot bigger than me, or than I think I'll be when I'm grown. What did your family do to show you were an adult? Did you have any way to tell who'd done good or bad things there?"

Tia'Moyo
So he wasn't permitted to hunt properly at home... She supposed this made sense, it was better not to have the trainees ruin well farmed and sustained hunting grounds. However with that in mind, she was fairly certain they would have had to train their young somehow. Hazarding a guess, she would go so far as to assume that training might involve mere observation for a considerable amount of time. Some might have argued this was boring but as a feline who rarely moved unless she absolutely had to, she concluded that such a method wasn't necessarily a bad one.

"It was a mere guess," she replied mildly and rolled her shoulders in a loose shrugs. "Other prides and packs have such tests, for all I would know, yours could be very similar," she pointed out. Dropping that aspect of the conversation for the time being she elected to pursue his other questions, musings and so on. "You know..." she released a breath from her mouth and canted her head to the side, "In legends around here, certain creatures gain marks of honour and respect for protecting or caring for others in their own way. Well, that was the stories my mother told me when I was younger," she offered.

"But where I come from there's no real indication of when you become an adult, when I was old enough I separated from my mother and went my own way," she explained wistfully. "As for how you know how someone is good or bad in these parts... You can usually tell by their eyes or how many scars they might have," she murmured. "Not a guarantee, but sometimes it can be hard to tell until you actually meet that creature face to face."

Svgata
Everything Tia said made sense, and it gave Svgata a lot to think about. As he was pondering though, he became pointedly aware that the sun was dropping lower and lower in the sky. Had he really spent this much time just talking? There was nothing wrong with that of course, but the pride and his family would begin to worry if he wasn't home by dark. Not to mention it looked like he'd be going back with no prey. Well, he could handle that. He almost always usually did, and the Ela were kind. He wouldn't be teased for any failings on a trip like this.

"It seems like that'd be dangerous. By the time you meet them up close, if they're bad, it might be too late to get away." That thought worried him. But then, he could always look at it a different way. Anyone without Ela'wadiyi marks would be obvious, and he'd know to keep a distance at first. And anyone with marks was a family member, basically. That split things fairly black and white, but was a start. And the sun was nearly down now. He really had to go!

"I'm sorry to just run, but I don't want my family to worry. Thanks so much for talking to me. It's a lot to consider. How rogues do things. It's really different. But I guess it makes sense. Hey, if you come back through here ever...maybe we can meet up again?"
