The last snowfall was clear on the ground the sun of spring shining brightly overhead. This was the time she longed to be comforted by her family well her brother she longed to share bonds with someone she would be proud to call her mate. Pavi was a sad excuse and she knew that over and over in her mind he kept showing up no matter her efforts to forget him. She had seen him recently though and her plan was still to run from him as soon as the foals were born and by this time she was hoping it would happen soon. She could not keep up with him and longed to move on with her life find someone new she could always love someone like her. She thought about the stallion whom she had met recently who claimed he would wait for her. She would take his offer if he spoke the truth even though he was a stranger deep down something in her heart clicked when she saw him. She was reminded of herself but unlike her he had a smile that he could never hide she choose to hide her face and she would of thought one like him would hide his but something about him brought her into excitement. If he was a spirit to..was this what she had been waiting for? Would he take her in even if she had a foal to care for? He would be a step-father and a real father knowing she would in the end have foals with him to. She knew nothing about him not even his name but like a magnet she was drawn to him. Would he appear today? She longed to know more about him she would let herself fall in love he was one worth waiting for she could already tell. If he asked she would remove her mask and expose her true self to him and this time would not regret it he seemed loyal the type that would not just walk away and show up suddenly weeks later..at least she hoped not.

The Croatoan headed through the forest, seeking out the living sliver of moonlight he'd spoken with not long ago. She wanted him to wait for her and something settled in his mind that he would do just that. He wasn't too sure what he was waiting for, but he would not deny the mare. She was a kindred spirit, in more ways than one.
Pausing, the Croatoan looked about, sniffing at the air around him. Daylight was not as familiar to him as his realm of the dark, cool night. Still, his mare had come this way and he wanted to see her again, if only to learn more about the sad female. He was most intrigued by her mask. How odd for him to be attracted to one that hid her face when his own face was like a living mask.

She wondered if this stallion had failed in love before like her..She would not ask him but in time she knew she would find out his story. Even if he had that would make them much more alike seeing they had both been rejected by there mates for some unknown reason. He remind her of herself and she could not help falling in love with the stallion he looked different than the rest but he stayed positive. She wondered what breed he was he looked like her but then..His smiles and his horns those were differently not part of her breed no other she had ever met had a smile like that..Supposing that was another trait she was falling for or the same or..? Because he was different but in the heat and soul he was the same. As she passed though the trees she thought she caught glance of brown on green and went in hoping he really was looking for her more proof he would be there when Pavi was no longer. Would he be the one she would spend the rest of her life with ...? He was her saving angel in a way a watchful spirit whom she did not even know but believed all her thoughts were true as she felt something deep inside her spark something she had never felt before the coldness it seemed to be slipping away from her he must really be hers forever..Reason to believe he would help her care for her foal when that happened she would not leave Pavi till it did deep down there was still something for him but most of her love had washed away like the sea.

Spotting a flash of silver among the dark bark of the trees, the Croatoan grinned to his ears and headed in that direction, sure his little spirit would be there. What was her story again? A mate she did not care for? Perhaps he could absolve her of that.
"Little moonlight," he called softly, "I know I saw you come this way."

She felt another presence and it seemed some of her hair was standing on end. She kept walking and sure enough as she broke though a clearing she heard a voice but she knew it was hisvoice. She quickly sped up wanting to see him not only hear him she took a moment though to take in what he had said it was but a whisper somehow the wind had carried his voice to her. "I know it is you..My grinning friend who likes butterflies and baskets..When we see one another once more i shall reveal my face to you..I trust you dont let me down...I will be your moonlight if you will be my grinning friend..." she stops in her tracks wanting him to seek her out testing him to see if he really is worthy. "I have been trying to find you but now..you must find me you were right i never saw you but you saw me..Is this a game of hide and seek? If your willing to be there for me..Seek me out if not..walk away as if this never happened.." The words she spoke were only half true she did not want him to ever walk away but he must be tested if he came..

The Croatoan appeared out of the brush near the young cyrenei mare. "Ah, there you are. Gave the Croatoan quite a bit of exercise in trying to catch up to you, but he is forgiving. What brings you to his part of the forest, eh? Were you looking for him?" He looked the mare over, ears flicking a bit to catch her answer.

She saw him approach out of the bushes and frowned at his strange way of speaking why did he speak as if it were not him? Why say "him" not "me" he was an odd one for sure but she felt drawn to that perhaps he could be a good friend if all else failed for something more. "You were looking for me..? I am quick and light on my feet it is very hard to track one like that..I was looking for you i wish to learn more about you..Croatoan.." She assumed that was his name because he had calmed it had given him exercise to catch up with her.

"You wish to know of the Croatoan?" the stallion asked, tilting his head a little, the glow of his antlers tracing a brief arc in the air with light. "Stories of the Croatoan reach far, do they not?" He seemed confused that the mare had never heard of him or is many miraculous deeds. "Ah, perhaps you have come to the wood seeking out the Croatoan for news of his latest adventures, yes?"

"Know of you..? No.." she frowned at him he seemed not very bright but at the same time he seamed trustworthy. She watched his antlers carve a circle into the air then she watched the circle fade away."I have never heard of you..I am not seeking to know about your adventures.." she frowns more wondering why she felt something for this odd stallion..that was just it odd she was odd..thats was why

Well, that news was rather off putting. Never heard of the Croatoan? Did this mare live under a rock? True she was a stunning sliver of moonlight that had suddenly cut through his woods, but how could a spirit not have heard of the Croatoan or his mighty adventures? The spirits liked him to be sure. The fireflies had told him so. "Where have you come from, little spirit, and why are you in the Croatoan's wood?"

Spirits were playing a role in this meeting she knew it the way he glowed..his horns at least his smile..he looked very much like one his looks were striking she could imagine him defending the forest in some way or another. "I have come from far..looking for meaning in life..i am here because i wished to find you and learn your secrets.." her eyes glow brighter as she states this

The stallion tilted his head. "You have not heard of the Croatoan and yet you sought him out?" Confusion crossed the young horse's face. "He does not understand."

She was now growing annoyed with this stallion he seemed even more clueless than before and why did he talk of himself like that? "Yes i have been trying to find you because we are alike in more ways than one..there is no need to get confused or upset..you must understand i think your unique and i want to know you.." she sighs wondering if showing her face might help this stallion

"You sought this one out because we are alike? You are a spirit. The Croatoan only talks to spirits, talks to your kind. Both cyrenei, but you are far better than he is," the stallion said, lowering his head. "Not worthy to be considered on your level, but he wishes to know you, too." The Croatoan raised his head once more to look at the mare. "Why do you hide your face?"

 "We are very alike i can tell you are one of them even though you are very much alive..Your smile is very..it reminds me of them and draws me to you everything about you makes me want to know you more..I am not better than you are..we are both one in the same" she frowns when he lowers his head feeling something at his motions "You are worthy to be on any level you want to be..I will show you my face if it makes you happy.." she bends over and shakes her mane her mask falling with a thud onto the ground. She looks back at him still frowning her hair covering her face and glowing eyes
