Character Name: Levateinn (or Lev, which he dislikes but will answer to). Type: Pokemon. Species: Vaporeon. Gender: Male. Height: 5’6” Age: 22. Hair Color: Dark blue, almost black; style is artist's discretion. Eye Color: Lighter blue. He wears rimless rectangular glasses, though more because he likes them than because he needs them. Skin Color: Fair-skinned; Bulbapedia says that Vaporeon glitters when the light hits it at certain angles, so perhaps his skin could glitter or shimmer in places? But uh, no Twilight vampire skin, please. Other: Gijinka characteristics are up to artist's discretion. As far as clothes go, some kind of neat, perfectly-pressed, straightlaced military uniform with a high collar would be perfect. He was never actually in any military force, but I think it fits his nature. Nature: Adamant. Ability: Water Absorb. Skill Set: Bite, Surf, Aqua Tail, Blizzard. Personality:
Disciplined (Positive)
Levateinn values self-discipline very strongly. He started by controlling everything about himself, from his morals to his expressions, and over time that control became natural. He rarely needs to push himself or struggle to avoid temptation, as he’s tried to train himself to be above all of that. The idea of doing anything simply because it’s easier barely even crosses his mind. Once he commits to a course of action, or gives his loyalty to a person or cause, he will not lightly abandon it.
He tries to avoid hasty decisions unless he has no other choice, and he much prefers to take his time, analyzing a situation from as many angles as he can and creating a solid plan of action before he gets to work. As a result, whenever he takes on a task, he can be counted on to complete it to the best of his ability, and to allocate enough time and effort to finish it promptly, with as little waste and mess as possible.
Intelligent (Positive)
Levateinn is highly intelligent, quick to learn and able to recall information for a very long time. He’s also curious, constantly seeking out and absorbing new information from books, news, or even gossip. It doesn’t seem to matter what he learns, as long as it’s something interesting. He dabbles in fields from geology to politics, though his eternal favorite is history, especially military history. He's not creative in the usual artistic sense, but he can get creative with tactics, and he plays chess, Go, and even RTS video games in his spare time. He also prefers the company of intelligent people, or people who are knowledgeable and passionate about their field.
Deadpan (Neutral-Positive)
Levateinn’s sense of humor is dry and ironic, rather than overtly comedic or slapstick. Rather than make puns or obvious jokes, he’ll make wry comments about the situation. He maintains his usual unflappable calm and matter-of-fact voice even when he’s making a joke. His humor can be difficult to recognize or understand, as it’s usually possible to take his words seriously and at face value. As such, it’s easy to mistake him for being humorless and dull.
Perfectionist (Neutral-Negative)
The devil’s in the details, and the smallest things can have the biggest impacts. Levateinn is meticulous, and he pays close attention to those little details, double- and triple-checking his work whenever he can. He enjoys the feeling of accomplishment and achievement that he gets when he achieves his goals. He also believes that if he remains vigilant and works hard, he should be able to foresee problems, or at least weather unexpected problems, and that he will never disappoint others.
While striving for perfection is admirable, Levateinn often takes this trait to more negative extremes. He hates feeling like he has no control, whether it’s over himself, his environment, or even other people -- and even more than that, he hates failure. Because he works so hard to remain in control of every situation, failing means that he wasn’t good enough or didn’t work hard enough, and failure immediately saps any enjoyment he derived from his work. To him, mistakes are signs of personal defects, rather than unavoidable stumbling blocks or opportunities to learn, and he has great difficulty recovering from failure. In that respect, he’s extremely self-critical.
He also tends to judge people based on his own standards. Although he won’t dismiss someone just for giving in to temptation, he is easily aggravated by people who lack self-discipline, especially lazy, flippant, or messy people. Given a choice, he’d rather associate with people who are as disciplined as he is.
Aloof (Negative)
Levateinn’s drive for perfection includes control over his expressions and emotions. Although he’s far from unfeeling, he regards obvious displays of emotion, especially in public, as embarrassing and unprofessional. If others show emotion, he doesn’t mind much, unless it’s loud or obnoxious, but if he displays any strong emotion, he feels very embarrassed. His emotions usually only show through in small ways -- a twitch of his lips or a slightly raised brow, rather than a full smile or disbelieving frown. The one exception is embarrassment, the only emotion he has yet to fully master. When he's flustered or finds himself the center of unwanted attention, he flushes and finds it difficult to maintain his usual calm.
Just as his initial self-control became innate discipline, his expression of controlled calm became natural. His ability to show emotion, even when he feels them very strongly, has essentially atrophied, and he has trouble expressing sympathy even if he would like to. Thus, he comes across as very distant and difficult to approach, even unemotional.
Strengths: Levateinn is an excellent learner, as he's intelligent, quick to learn, and a diligent, meticulous worker. He's a strong swimmer, though that has not been a necessary skill for a while. Weaknesses: His cold nature and high standards mean that he has very few friends, and he is simply not one for socializing or politics of any kind. As such, he runs the bookstore alone. He also tends to be rather possessive of his physical space, and anyone getting too close to him, or even to a place he considers his (most likely his desk in the bookstore), makes him extremely uncomfortable.
History: Levateinn was raised by a breeder, and his life was plain and average. Too plain and average, in fact; he was always restless in the breeding center, as he craved something more challenging than sitting around and looking pretty. There was nothing new for him to learn, neither information nor skills, and it quickly grew stale. Whenever trainers came by with stories of their adventures, he would always be nearby, listening intently while putting on a great show of not caring. As years went by, he grew more and more dissatisfied, but there was no way he could leave on his own, and no way for him to communicate how stifled he felt.
That was when he dreamed of Musharna -- a being he'd only heard rumors and secondhand stories of. He was offered the chance to create his own path, to see the world and explore for himself, and he didn't think twice about accepting.
With a new human form and nothing else, he started traveling. He saw a large chunk of Unova, making a living off temporary jobs and moving from place to place when he had the funds to do so. But he soon realized that constant travel was too chaotic and uncertain for him, and started looking for a stable job. He decided to settle in Nimbasa City when he met an elderly bookstore owner, Jennifer Alsace, who was willing to give him a job and a room above her store. Despite having no prior experience, he learned quickly and made himself an invaluable assistant, helping her with both the Grounds for Thought store and her daily life. The many books available provided him plenty of room to think and learn without having to leave the comfort of a stable life, and he felt comfortable talking with the regular patrons, many of whom were intelligent and curious.
But Alsace was old, and one day he woke up to the sound of ambulance sirens. She'd had a heart attack, and there was nothing anyone could do for her. He took the news a lot harder than he was willing to let anyone see, so he closed the bookstore's doors for a while. Alsace's lawyer told him that she'd left everything, including the store, to him. Unwilling to let her beloved bookstore go, even though she was no longer there, he reopened it within the month. He still manages it to this day.
As the store's owner and only worker, he manages all of the business, from sales to finances to restocking. Even so, he usually manages to find time to sit and read a book, or to play chess with a patron.
Since the gijinka population appears to be swelling, he's also opened up the fourth floor of the building; as the bookstore was built from the first three floors of an old apartment complex, the rooms on the fourth floor were never destroyed. He rents them out to other gijinka, on the condition that they be nondisruptive.

Extra Notes:
-He rents out fourth floor apartments to gijinka only.
-The ground floor of the bookstore is where most of the books are. The second and third floor are really more like open lofts, with railings on the edges, and are both reading/study areas, with private study and meeting rooms. The second and third story lofts occupy opposite corners of the building, and are connected by stairs. There's a children's section on the first floor, as they aren't allowed up to the second or third floors without supervision.
The third floor is, by unspoken consensus, for gijinka only as well.
-He also teaches some classes to gijinka, mostly revolving around adjusting to human/city life -- reading, financial responsibility, etc -- and he might teach individuals to play chess if he likes them.
-Yes, there are free food and drinks on the first floor, and they're open for everyone. There's a table on the third floor that caters a bit better to gijinka preferences. He'd be very pleased if people were to donate food or money for food.

-rolls in and touches- Vaporeon..So lovely!
Dawwww - I love him! Grammatically there are a few comma splices, and the spell checker cheating you, like "takes on a tack" should be "takes on a task" -shakes fist at spell checker- Only tells you if a word is right, but not if its the right word, lols.
Otherwise its all so sweet! His history seems perfect to me, and I find myself only wanting to learn more about him.
He hated his current life; Musharna gives him a better one, and he goes for it! I was actually kind of surprised that for someone so dissatisfied with 'plain and average' he would make a bookstore his life's choice. Though I suppose he did get to travel, and realized he wasn't cut out for it. Plus he made a good friend, and with his loyalty that would keep him there; even after she's gone. -pings hearts-
Personality - I do have to wonder how his Grudging nature and his Loyalty collide. It seems like he's selectively Grudging, as long as your not his 'friend' and you offend him; then it's open season for him to get revenge and then some. Maybe it clashes a little, but you did explain it well and I cant find anything wrong with it or anything else in there! -love it-
Strength & Weakness - Maybe add one more strength and one more weakness? Maybe something physical, or a pet peeve that sets him off? Something more personal?
Really I can't find anything off about it and I wish you luck with getting it approved!

Aaah I can't believe I never responded ;u; Thank you so much for the crit, Shini <3 Comma splices are a bad habit of mine, I'm going through and looking for them again.
For his history, basically what I'm going for is...he was bored at the breeding center because there was really not much new for him to learn, although he prefers stability to travel. The bookstore is perfect for him because it offers him the chance to meet people, generally fairly smart/reasonable people, and to read as much as he wants. And yes, his loyalty to Alsace is a big part of it~ <3 I'm glad you like it!
And yes, you pretty much hit it on the head xD If he's loyal first, he'll be pushed pretty far before he finally becomes grudging. Otherwise he's very exacting.
Alrighty, will do! *salute* Thank you <333

-wiggles- Your very welcome lost! I really do adore him.
Maybe then you could mention that in his history somewhere. Or as something extra to his profile. That the reason he chose a library was not just because he was loyal to the kind lady who gave him a job, but also because of his thirst for knowledge.
Also that he's selective about the 'type' of people he meets and makes friends with. As not just anyone is gonna come into a library/book store looking to buy things/read.
Otherwise perfect! I just cant help myself wanting to know more about him! -snuggless-

Critique time since I can actually sit on my butt for longer than two seconds now my crazy weekend is over! x_X;
I apologise in advance if any of this critique comes across as harsh, it's not meant to be a deliberate assault on you, but there are a number of issues that need addressed and I can appreciate that my explanations might be a bit blunt.
Remember, all critique is optional for the most part, unless it's explicitly stated that something needs changed so you can cherry pick what you want.
1. Intellectual vs Demanding Read 'em both carefully, there's a big conflict in there. You say he doesn't hold anyone to a high standard and he's reasonable, and yet in a later point you indicate he holds everyone to a high standard. You need to decide which is which.
The only advice I could offer if you wanted to keep both the way they are is to switch "demanding" to "Perfectionist" or simply "Efficient".
2. Cold You can't be pokerfaced if you're being sarcastic and harsh with your words. When you speak, depending on the tone of voice your face with warp into an expression that enables you to convey this tone and the levity of it. Be careful with how you convey this point - in addition, how can he be pokerfaced if he's demanding and so forth? Again, this level of perfectionism would indicate that he would give the game away very easily at the moment.
You need to find a way to convey that he can have this calm veneer without making everything else seem incorrect. At the moment I can't figure out if he's a 'stoic' individual as you seem to want him to be, or a very demanding and studious creature. At present, he leans more heavily towards his demanding side as opposed to being anything close to stoic or pokerfaced.
3. Grudging This completely contradicts his stoicism. It also makes his Loyalty very difficult to buy into.
4. Loyalty I don't believe it in the slightest, and I mean at all. I can usually spot what you're trying to convey but every other personality trait completely contradicts this and I would even go so far as to say that it's nearly impossible. In fact, it pretty much is impossible for the simple reason that he's not terribly approachable - he couldn't even begin to consider being loyal to anyone if he can't get them to tolerate him for longer than twenty seconds. At present he gives off a vibe of "I'd talk to him if I had to, but he'd never be in my circle of friends."
He's an acquaintance, not a friend and to be honest, I suspect that's as far as it would go for a lot of individuals. Given loyalty is something you don't need in an acquaintance, it almost makes this trait meaningless at the moment. D8
Strengths: May need rewritten depending on how you choose to take the above critique, otherwise, you're on the right track.
Weaknesses: These make a hell of a lot more sense when applied to a much more negative personality as I've mentioned above. I would encourage you not to change these depending on how you decide to take any of the aforementioned critique. However, if you wish to make him more approachable then these little quirks will still be sufficient as they're logical even on a more mild level.

Reads SO much better now, he gives off an entirely different vibe and while he might sound difficult to impress, he doesn't sound impossible. It makes his loyalty a much more believable trait in this respect!
