It was near the tail end of his patrol. As always, quiet--a brief chase of a super senshi who, for some reason, had seemed very skittish, but otherwise he hadn't so much as crossed a youma, and some of the damn things were like developmentally challenged dogs in how they acted towards people. They'd bound up with their eight damn legs and their striped fur and just.
Ugh. Disgusting.
So he was glad to be nearing his home. Maybe soon he'd just start staying home unless given direct orders. He wasn't accomplishing anything like this--and it was just. So. Frustrating.
His annoyance almost blinded him to the sounds of someone breathing harshly, but he caught the aura of a Negaverser and decided to investigate. What he saw was not exactly what he'd expected. A redheaded agent--a captain, judging by the spear--was laying in the grass. There was quite a bit of blood, which didn't bother him too badly. Nothing bothered him too bad since gross anatomy. The only blatant injury she seemed to have sustained was a blow to the head, but that didn't mean there wasn't anything wrong otherwise. He approached and knelt beside her; she was breathing, and her pulse seemed to be fine. Might it be a concussion? Should he move her?
Well, he couldn't stay out in the open. There really was only one option, besides the subspace--which didn't exactly have the materials he'd need to take care of that gash.
Besides, Grayson wasn't home tonight. He carefully picked up the redheaded agent, taking pains to support her head just in case there was an internal injury he couldn't see. With that done--the spear would regenerate with her when she transformed next--he started to head towards his apartment as fast as he could while keeping a smooth gait.

Painite was having a rougher night than she had imagined, setting out. She had left her home that evening in such high spirits, her confidence at its highest. Riding high on a wave of ego boosting wins against senshi and a page, she had thought herself an unstoppable force.
Then she met the immovable object that was Gehenna's fist.
That second page, clearly avenging the one Painite had injured in her previous fight, had been a lot tougher. All muscles and anger, he had fought more like a Nega than a Senshi, and it took her off guard. She had managed to drive her spear through his shoulder. It was the very least that he deserved.
He was the one that had knocked her unconscious. She didn't notice the energy of corrupted senshi coming her way. Out like a light, she only made a soft sound when he picked her up, curling against him on instinct as he carried her. She didn't wake up until they had come to a stop.
Opening her light, sea green eyes, she had no idea where she was or who she was with. She instinctively pushed him away, dropping from his arms, and summoned her weapon to her. It donned on her that she didn't feel anything like a Page or Senshi, certainly not the one she had been fighting, and she was no longer in the park.
"Ughh..." Wobbling, she very nearly passed out again once the rush of adrenaline ran its course. She fell forward.

When the Captain woke up, he let her drop--she wanted to, and he could catch her if she wobbled and fell--and slid back a few paces, hands up between them. Was he sure he could avoid the spear? No. But he was sure he could avoid any fatal wounds and then call the hospital.
"Captain, you're safe," he said, understandably wary. Disoriented woman, plus spear, was likely to equal pain. But the spear clattered to the ground, and she toppled--he darted forward again to catch her.
This time, he settled her on his couch--and left to grab a towel to put under her head, as well as the first-aid kit. His cousin was apparently accident-prone, so he kept the thing well-stocked. "I'm Spinel," he said, standing in full view for a moment. Cracked hole in the chest--huge, dark aura--and then the star on his forehead in black. The mineral name, he hoped, would help reassure her as well. "I found you unconscious in the park. What happened?"
It was a legitimate question. That gash on her head looked nasty.

Painite looked around in confusion, putting a hand to her head once she woke up a bit more. She saw the corrupted senshi that had saved her, able to tell that it was one from the physical evidence of the hole in his chest, and the feel of his energy. She was not too familiar with the corrupted side of the negaverse, but as far as she was concerned they were just as much 'one of us' as any other Nega would be to her.
She took stock of her situation. She was laying on a sofa, though it certainly wasn't her own. It was facing a different direction, and the room did not have the same feel as her comfortable, quiet home. Her head was pounding and her jaw aching, a thrumming pain in her stomach reminding her of each strong punch that jerk of a Page had delivered.
Trying to sit up, and succeeding, she looked at Spinel.
"I got in a fight with a Page. Some. Not-quite-a-senshi guy who didn't like me hurting his girlfriend." As far as she knew, anyway, "I managed to get him but he must have run off. He hit me and... uhm. Sorry, I'm Painite." She offered a thin, pale smile, then a shaking hand. She wasn't very good about getting hurt, in any measure, and it always left her feeling upset and woozy.
"Thank you for rescuing me. It might have been bad if a senshi found me..." she tired to laugh about that, but the truth she felt in it rang in her head.

Saying the room didn't feel like a quiet and comfortable home was appropriate. It clearly was occupied by two men with very different personalities; towards one door, on which was hung a corkboard, the living room was very neat. The kitchen, what could be seen of it, was just so antiseptic. The other end of the living room... Well, that was Grayson's room. Generally he dumped boots and coat there before flopping down on his bed. Paul tried, but... It never went well.
Standing in the living room, Spinel could tell the Captain wasn't really feeling her best. She was practically swaying where she sat, and looked--well. Very, very unsteady, for one thing. Very unsteady. He took her hand to shake it, kept the contact brief. "Captain Painite, you're bleeding," he said, levelly. What was a page? Not-quite-a-senshi, which meant... He had no idea at all. Perhaps he could ask her while he tried to stitch up that gash? Probably not his best idea, she could bite her tongue. "I have medical training, so I'd like to help you. Do you have somewhere safe to go?"

Painite looked at him, nodding her head. She regretted that.
"I'll go home. I'm alright, I'm just..." she looked at him, taking a deep breath. She tried to calm her shaking and the rush of emotions following the fight. It felt like she still expected to be fighting. She liked when she was winning, when she was fighting and having fun, but getting hurt, even slightly, and realizing a bit too late that she was in over her head. She hated the lingering feeling of helplessness, though the fight was done.
It hadn't, in the end, even been that bad. She got punched in the head, but she had managed to stab her opponent. There would be more thrill later, when her confidence restored itself. For now, though, she felt shaken and pathetic. Just because she had a little bit of blood on her. Because she had gotten knocked out at all.
She took another deep breath.
"Really though, thank you for getting me out of there. If a senshi or one of those pages had come along I would have been screwed. I'm sorry to uhm... impose on you. Nice place, though." She smiled, trying to ease her own tension and bring back her usual lighthearted banter and attitude. Really, she just didn't want to think about things too much until she was out of this adrenaline induced haze.
"I hope I wasn't too heavy," her smile strengthened.

He shook his head, holding out a square of gauze from the open first aid kit. "It's no imposition," he said. And it wasn't, not really; there was a reason he'd chosen medical school out of the three unpalatable options he'd been offered. Helping people wasn't nearly as onerous as putting them in jail or trying to control them. "If you'd press that against your head, I can get a better look at the injury."
Nothing to do but to wait for a minute, he supposed. He made a face after a moment, head dipped down so his hair would act as a shield. Still, even if it was better than being a lawyer or a politician, he didn't really like the sight of friendly blood. Painite was completely correct in that she would have had it rough if an uncorrupted senshi had found her. Luckily, he had been the one to come across her.
"No, you weren't," he said, looking up with a bit of a smile. "Hardly a burden at all." That was what women liked to hear, wasn't it?

She smiled thinly and nodded, careful, taking the gauze and doing as directed.
At his effort to placate her about being heavy she laughed and her usual grin was easily restored. Yes, she was embarrassed about needing to be saved, and didn't play the role of the damsel in distress very well, but she also did her best to move on from things as quickly as she could. It was easier to do in company, where jokes were easy to come by, rather than when she was left alone with her thoughts.
Better luck next time, she told herself. A lesson learned, and she would just have to be sure to never let another senshi, or in this case a page, get the better of her like that.
"Well, I'm glad my diet of feathers and air has paid off, then. That's one good thing to come of all this," she winced, moving the gauze to look at it. A little blood, but it seemed to be ebbing. It'd leave a scar, but a small one.
Still, more of one than she wanted.
"So, what were you doing before you had the terrible good fortune of being my hero?" She asked conversationally, catching that he wasn't too much for talking but wanting to drag him into one anyway.

Getting a closer look at the gash, it wasn't bad enough he'd need to do much else to it at all. That close to her hairline, a bandage of some sort probably wasn't advisable--at least, not one of the band-aid sort. It'd rip out a chunk of her hair, and really, there was no point to that. He gave her a bit of a grin back, and sat deeper into the couch.
"I suppose recommending you eat healthier won't go so well," he asked, slanting her a look. Was he kidding? Well, he was still grinning, so probably. "I don't strictly need to do much more with that other than disinfect it, as long as you keep pressure on it." Facts: laid on the table!
He nodded after a moment, crossing his ankles and shutting the first aid kit. The box made a tiny clink noise on the glass-top coffee table, and he set his hands on his knees. "Heading home," he said, shrugging with one shoulder. "It was rather slow out tonight for most others."

Painite watched him for a moment, not sure if he was being serious or not. Was he making a comment about her actually being unhealthy because she was light? Or was he teasing her own joke of feathers and air meals? Or did he believe that was what she ate? She decided to go with the idea that he was being sarcastic right along with her, considering his grin, and laughed jovially.
Grinning at him, regaining her composure enough to hide any shakes and stand confidently, she nodded her head.
"I think I'll survive, doctor," she said with a sage nod, keeping the gauze on the gash. She felt like going home and relaxing on the sofa with a glass of wine and a movie. If she had a pet, she would have liked some snuggle time with it. Maybe she would invest in a kitty some time.
They were adorable, after all.
"Ah. I must have taken all the fun from everyone. I would have shared, gladly, if anyone had asked me," she shook her head, regretted it, and looked a bit dizzy. "I think I'm going to head home myself. Truth be told, nothing sounds more appealing to me than powering down and forgetting this embarrassment happened."
She sighed. It would be her next big goal: getting the knights back for all this. Because clearly it was their fault, and she hadn't picked the fight or deserved the revenge call from the walking muscle at all.

"Only close to being one," he corrected, blinking a bit surprisedly. He was still only pre-med, with a few years left to sink into his schooling. Too late, it occurred to him that she might be making another joke, and his apologetic grimace was testament to that.
He stood up, and then remembered that she was going to probably teleport out. "That might be the best idea," he said, still a bit red around the ears. "With more of the resting and forgetting than otherwise. Tomorrow's another day to show those... ah, knights."

Painite smiled at him, finding him oddly adorable. He seemed a little closed off, and he spoke quietly enough, but he still managed to amuse her and she chuckled, nodding her head.
Carefully.
"I'll definitely show them what for, as soon as I can. They'll have to do better than a bump to the head to put me out. Anyway, at least that one is going to regret trying to fight with me, what with the hole he's sporting. Ah well! Nothing to do but plan and prepare, I always say."
She didn't. But it sounded like something she should always be saying.
She gave him a quick, but tight and friendly, hug. "Thank you again for saving me. I'll see you around! If you ever need help, don't hesitate to contact me. I've got your back now." A debt was a debt, and repaid hers in full. Pointing to the front door, she moved toward it to head out, just making sure it was the door and not some closet or something.
