~Iwadate Cove~

If you follow the beaches down past the resorts and the small, beachfront motels far enough you will come into an area that few but the locals rarely ever venture into. It is rumored to be dangerous, with tides rising fast and hard, and a drop-off where the water sinks down well deeper than is safe to swim. Overlooking the Cove is a large plateau of rock which juts out over the deep water...many daredevils and teenagers looking to impress somebody or just have fun jump off of it in various playful dives into the water and then swim back to shore. Beneath the large plateau (affectionately known to locals as 'The Rock') is a small cave which many couples venture back into in order to search the ankle-deep waters for seashells and washed-up coral...or to do less scrupulous things.

It is a great place to be alone with someone, at the Cove, and a place where young people go to get away from the troubles of the resort village every now and then with friends. And it is also said that the view of the water at sunset from 'The Rock' is the most beautiful in all the Northern Coast of Japan.

-Yasumori Mito-
The Sky is only the beginning..

Yasumori had passed many of his fellow students as he made his way to the cove. skating along the boardwalk just long enough to pass out of the popular area and on the the pat in which most likely on locals knew about. As Yasumori's roller-blades came to a stop, he was greeted with he sound of waves crashing up against a firm surface. Yasu made his way to this firm surface, known as 'the rock' and when he reached the top of it, he slowly skating as close to the edge as possible before stopping and looking over the edge with a nonchalant gaze. He had done this many times in the past so it wasn't like this was any kind of rush or something. This was Yasu's daily routine since he never really had much to do after school. besides, it was something about 'the rock' that made sitting on it seem so peaceful. Maybe it was the calming sound of the waves crashing around or the nice breeze that always seemed to blow just as Yasu got up there.

As Yasu stood, he began to take off all of his clothes except for his boxers, placing them in a bag which he then placed down on the plateau's surface. The boy then took a few steps back before taking off as fast as he could and jumping off the side of the plateau that faced the water and then sun. He jumped in a horizontal position, with his arms spread out to each side like wings and looking out at the sun, just as the wind blew. For a moment, it felt like Yasu was flying, it felt like the road to achieving his final goal was opening up to him and for a moment, a peaceful smile crept onto Yasu's face. But this sensation would not be felt for long as Yasumori began to feel the sense of falling, in which his peaceful smile turned into one of excitement as he changed his body into a straight down vertical style and dived down, head first into the waters below, making a small splash as his vertical body shot deep down into the rumored 'dangerous' waters.

The boy remained under the surface of the water for a moment, not even a bubble arising to assure that he had not been eaten whole by some form of giant fish. Another moment passed and then his head shot up out of the water, breathing steadily as he began to tread water. He focused his eyes up into the sky from the water for a bit, blankly starring into the vast ocean of clouds above. "One day" he muttered before swimming back to 'the rock' and climbing up the side with his bare hands and feet as if he were a mountain climber and eventually pulling his wet body back up to the top before spreading out, face up, onto the plateau surface and letting the wind/sun dry him.

Black Kitsune

The day was coming to an end that was proven with the sky showing a mixture of colors as the sun began to sink into the sea. One would feel as though he was away from civilization, all but the waves crashing against the rocks with a perfect view of the stars becoming visible in the soon to be night sky; a perfect place for solitude and that is why the Black Kitsune decided to come here for the evening. He had a difficult time trying to get to this spot, the process involved giving a lame excuse to people he would have loved to hang around with, then there was the sneaking in to his room where he would change up his appearance, if one were to want to be dramatic they could say that he was transforming. His normal attire was now shrouded with nothing but a hoodie, gloves, chained pants, and of course his trademark Fox shaped mask. All his clothing were colored black to give him a better chance to hide himself, he would admit thought it could be quite stuffy within this get up, but it was worth it as the cool moist breeze kept him under control. He was just standing there almost near the edge, watching the sun going down to rest for the night. Couldn’t tell if he was feeling happy, bewildered, or saddened by the sight, facial expressions were kept hidden beneath the mask; he just kept on staring towards the sunset with a violin in one hand and a bow in another. Suddenly he gripped his bow tensely, head slightly rising up as if something caught his eye. He placed the violin up so that he could rest his chin on the chinrest, with his bow he pointed towards the sun as it was almost gone from sight. He felt compelled to give the sun a proper farewell as it retires for the night, this may seem weird to most but it doesn’t matter much to him; he felt like it had to be done. With his bow he stroke across one of the strings making a high resonating sound. It was perfectly tune, waiting for the maestro, wanting to be used to perfection. The masked fellow wasn’t going to ignore his instrument’s pleas any longer, picking up the pace he continued his own personal farewell to the sun and a greeting to the night.

-Yasumori Mito-
The Sky is only the beginning..

The sound of snoring oculd be heard as the sun slowly began to creep behind the horizon. Yasumori fell into a light sleep after his little swim and was a known snorer. The dark-haired boy was awakened, however, by the sound of a violin. As he slowly sat up, he could barely fight back a yawn before arizing to his feet to see a masked figure playing an instrument. Yasu was natutally curious so he began to briskly put his clothes onto his now sun-dried body and hurried to grab his bag before making his way to the figure before it ran away. As Yasu drew closer, he noticed the fox-like mask and the black clothes so he automatically began to jump to conclusions. "Ninja! Why do you play your banjo?" Yasu said in a rathe hyper tone as he dropped his bag and pointed at the figure who he assumed was a ninja and his instrument which he incorrectly called a banjo instead of a violin Sometimes Yasumori said things that were so weird that it made some wonder if he said some of these things to purposely sound dumb..and they may never get an answer to that thought.

Black Kitsune

Felt good letting loose that little piece he made, it was so enjoyable he decided to give it another go; the song was just one of those things that he would play over and over and never tire from it. Though as he was about to hit the final note there was an intrusion caused him to slip making a screech from the violin that made him cringed with annoyance. He stared at his instrument in disbelief, he had never messed up on this piece before and having done so now made him grip it tightly showing some signs of frustration. Turning around he saw a boy approaching him, most likely the cause of breaking his concentration as he called him a ninja. That would be able to slide more easily if it wasn’t for the fact that he also called his violin a banjo. “…..” he didn’t know how to respond to that at all. He was taking it more of an insult though, his violin being called a banjo, he personally had some interest in the banjo, but calling a more renowned instrument something from down south didn’t set too well with him. Maybe he was just being too sensitive for his own good; he was just a person walking in on the scene, still the hooded man felt hurt nonetheless with his words. He sit his violin down on the ground just for a quick moment, digging through his pockets he took out multiple colored balls with a little fuse on them. He placed them in between his fingers to give Yasumori a good look. There were four in total, red one, blue one, yellow one, and a black one. He swayed his hand from side to side hoping that these balls would catch Yasumori’s attention; with his other hand going into his pockets again he pulled out a lighter. With it he lit the fuse on the black one, wasn’t a long fuse so the flame were going down quickly into the ball, just when the fuse was all gone he dropped the black ball down. The moment it hit the ground the little black ball exploded and unleashed a think black colored smoke that soon engulf the Black Kitsune from sight. From the display it was now obvious of what the other balls were, little smoke bombs like the ones used for fun and games in the fireworks store, also good enough for making quick escapes with a little modifications. Wasn’t long until the other balls were thrown at Yasumori’s feet, each of them releasing a think colored smoke around him to shade his vision. The Kitsune took his violin and sprinted away from the cove. Was a shame though, he wasn’t done having fun with playing out until the night came; there was always next time.

User ImageIt was a bright Saturday morning in Iwadate, a cool breeze blowing through with the night's chill still lingering in the air. It was salty, sweet, much different from the air back in Oshu City; he concluded in an instant that he didn't miss the fog, the cluttered, over-hot air of the city that he had left behind when it was still twilight. Cities were stuffed to the brim with all sorts of useless clutter that you just flat out didn't need. Too many people, not enough living space, too much noise, not enough serenity, too many cars, not enough fresh air. There was a small measure of detest in the solemn young man for the city that he had left behind, but even so it was overwhelmed by the sense of place that it gave him, the history that lingered like ghosts within the city that the One-Eyed Dragon had once ruled centuries earlier. You could say that his inability to swing one way or another no the matter made him seem dispassionate, but those who knew him could tell you that wasn't the case. He doled out affection and insult in equal measure to the city that he had left behind, and while it certainly had its faults, it had its fair share of endearing little tidbits about it as well. One thing it didn't have, however, was fresh air. It didn't have a solitary place within the city limits with the open, natural space of 'The Rock' that overlooked Iwadate Cove, and certainly, nowhere in the city could you watch the sun rise over the ocean in such a perfect fashion, the night giving way to day as the stars disappeared one-by-one, the pinks and oranges and red hues piercing through the midnight veil as the fresh air of the ocean wafted up to greet him at his place atop this high perch. Even if you were to climb one of the monolithic towers back in the city you could never see something this untouched by the hands of men, breathe air this fresh without the choking stink of exhaust, or listen to the soothing crashing of the waves down below against the bottom of this treacherous plateau. His mind was washed free of all the clutter and all the gunk that had been weighing upon his consciousness for untold hours before, perhaps days longer than it should have, and only with this view, this peaceful moment was the young man given reprieve, tension easing from his body like air slipping from an open-ended balloon. He suddenly felt lax and remembered why it was that he slept, and why it was that he hadn't had a good couple hour's sleep in more than forty-eight hours. Really, he should have looked a mess right now, felt as treacherous as the hours without rest probably were to him. But he didn't.

And as he stood staring out across the ocean with his lips pursed into a thin line, his single, bright crimson eye devouring that horizon peeking over the blue waves in the distance...his black shirt and red tie caught up slightly in the morning breeze, it was almost as though for a moment he had blended into that incredible scene and become one with it, rather than a stain against the background that he had come to watch.

Unfortunately, the moment passed sooner than it should have. The sunrise didn't stop at just the right moments, the beautiful color schemes all blended into one bright light that illuminated the world, and the cool, comfortable breeze became warmer and balmier, not terribly unpleasant but not the perfect, breath of fresh air that it had been before. And while many would have taken this opportunity to turn and take their leave, disenchanted with the way that such a perfect moment could slip through their fingers so fast, so fleetingly, the violet-haired young man remained standing in place, watching the ocean now as if searching for something that was just beyond eyesight. Against the growing light and the no-longer picturesque background, he remained as unmoving and dispassionate-looking as the Rock beneath him. His lips did not curl into a frown or a smile, his eye barely twitched as he watched the scene continue to unfold before him, and the light bent against his scarred face in a way that made them almost invisible to the gaze of the observer. His perfect scene was in discord, but it was at that moment that he really seemed to shimmer, as if he were the one becoming the scene to watch rather than the world around him. It had been a short train ride over from the city to reach this place, but he had been here since the sun's first rays and didn't show any intention of moving just yet. His breathing was slow, strong, and steady, and his tall frame, hard lined-muscles, and narrow red eye were almost surreal. And he was relaxed...and rigid all at the same time. His violet hair ruffled with the wind, and the air was still silent. He could still almost taste the salt in the air. It was incredible the way something so beautiful could dissolve into daily routine, how easily a moment could come and go.

After all, it was a lovely morning to ditch school and hop a train down to the beach now, wasn't it?

~The Pied Piper Prince~
*Location; Iwadate Cove, atop 'The Rock'*

The day had started out beautiful but slow. It seemed like it was going to just be one of those days; everything so beautiful and perfect, but just out of your reach by mere inches. Azuma had awoken this morning to the sound of his alarm clock, and like always he had gotten ready for the school day. But for some reason he simply felt like he shouldn't be going to school, not this day. He felt the need, the longing, the urge to find a place near the sea. To let the cool breeze wash over him and calm his nerves of every little problem that he had, of every ounce of stress that he carried on his shoulders. Such peace and quite was rather rare for him since he belong to such a well-to-do family. They were so admired and almost tittered on the line of being worshiped. It was a little to much some times, and Zumy was already having his fill of tea ceremonies and other such traditions. In fact if he remembered correctly there would be a lot of those later on tonight that he would have to attend with his family. Sometimes he wished he could just get away from it all, just leave for a day and relax with no worries on his plate... In fact, he would. Why couldn't he just take one day off? He was a perfect student in every way, so he earned the right to relax for once. He finished getting changed and left his home without being seen by anyone, which in itself was an act of God because usually he was always stopped and forced into a conversation about this or that, the weather, the latest news and gossip. Counting his blessings he made his way to the train and rode it all the way down to the beaches.

He soon found himself walking onto a large rock that overlooked the sea and all it's gleaming beauty. The breeze filled his lungs with fresh air, no pollution in sight... It was wondrous. He lifted his arms to the side and let the breeze brush past him, almost making a sensation that he was flying freely. A smile came onto his lips slowly until he was grinning happily. He walked on towards the edge, and as he opened his eyes he could see that he wasn't alone anymore, as there was someone with violet hair standing at the edge of the highest point of the rock. The figure looked familiar but could it be someone from Oshu? All the way out here? He kept walking until he was only a couple of meters behind the male, then he called out softly but with presence, "It's a beautiful view isn't it?" He rose his hand up to his forehead to offer his eyes some cover from the rising sun. As he did so a strong gust of wind blew past him, causing his hair and jacket to dance behind him.

User ImageWas he wrapped up in the view to the point that he didn't really feel like pulling away from it? Or was he drifting away in thought to the point where he just didn't even notice the approach of another violet-topped viewer of the ocean atop the Rock and the Iwadate Cove? Whichever it was, there was a definitive pause before the boy even seemed to openly register that he had been spoken to, like he was making a silent resolution inside of his mind and wrapping up whatever business there had brought him all the way out here at this time in the morning to gaze upon the sunset and advance of the day. It was a split second, and then a full second...no less than three full seconds had passed of silent watching of the water before the thin lips of the black-clad Senior from Oshu began to move almost of their own accord, his deep, full voice emitting like the low rumbling of a taiko drum. "That depends on the eye...of the viewer," his low voice drew out purposefully, perhaps meaningfully and as he did, the stoic boy's head slowly turned towards his new guest, the effeminate boy now getting his first direct glimpse at his 'companion's' face...the prominent features standing out being long, inter-connected scars (done so precisely they could not possibly have been an accident) and a patch which covered some of the scars and the eye on that side. More than that, however, he would see the eye, that piercing, intensely red orb on the far side which turned and took in the handsome form of his companion without the slightest hint of interest. Instead, it looked almost empty of inventory but full of raw, intense energy...like the king of the jungle or a wild beast keeping his pride under control. It was unsettling, even, but in not in a way that was exactly creepy or even intended. It was a natural expression on him, that blank and powerful expression of his that seemed always, almost just a little bit perturbed by...well, really by the world itself...but that lacked the malice that would have made one feel any sort of complete terror upon looking inside of it.

That expression focused on his new arrival and in an instant it was as though he had appraised him, sized him up, and spit him back out with that all-seeing eye of his. "I know you," his voice broke the silence again after a beat, a taciturn and dispassionate faced that pierced the veil the musician had over his eyes as to where they had met one another before...after all, there wasn't a student in Oshu who hadn't heard of the Sakurazukamori, "Pied Piper of Oshu...I won't ask what you doing here." And he wouldn't, but not because he trusted him or had made up his mind about the subject already. Simply, it was because he didn't care. Other people's business was their own, just like his business was his own. They weren't friends; they barely knew of one another. Why should he inquire as to the intentions of somebody like that? His expression didn't shift and he watched his companion for a moment, as though judging whether or not his intention in approaching the Senior (who was not all that accustomed to being approached by people he did not know, given his off-putting appearance and generally ominous attitude and reputation) was ill, innocent, or in any way worthy of addressing. Inside of his mind a myriad of options arose, but deciding which path to take from here was a process that took him only an instant. His mind was sharp, his intentions plain. His peaceful morning reverie was gone and now there was simply no more reason to stand around here and keep things from moving along any further. And so the boy didn't, his heel dug into the ground and he turned in a smooth, almost perfected motion until his back was to the newcomer and his eye was facing down the incline towards the road which wound down back to sea level from 'The Rock'. If this boy wanted to look at the view so badly now that the sun had already set sail into the sky, then he would let him. He would be elsewhere, finding something better to do with his time.

"It's yours now. I'm leaving," the mysteriously-nicknamed 'Cherry Blossom Killer' told his new acquaintance (if you could even call him that) before starting down the path towards the bottom of 'The Rock' below. It was an open-ended word of departure, though if anything was meant to follow it up it never did come. Sai continued on in relative silence down the road and away from the growing sunrise, curling his way through the paths en route to the bottom of 'The Rock'. He didn't really know what was down there other than what he intended to find, but he didn't care. If he was going to spend the whole day in this town, he would make the most of it. ...Besides, it had been a while since he felt the sand between his toes, hadn't it?

Zumy lowered his hand as the other person spoke out with his deep and low tuned voice. He spoke that the view depended on the 'eye', not eyes, of the viewer. What a strange thing to say... But when that figure turned around it made perfect sense as to why a person would talk like that. Standing before him on the edge was none other than Sai Sakurazaka, the famed 'Cherry Blossom Killer' of their school. How unusual that the two would met in such a different place and setting, having only known each other through word of mouth and those possible passing in the hallways. There was no doubt that that's who it was... The intricate scaring over his left eye was almost like his trademark... His sign. There was no mistaking the identity of this student. It was amazing how different they were. The look in the Sakurazukamori's eye was almost hollow of everything. Everything save for a strange energy that was currently lit dimly, but seemed to flicker with the possibility of exploding a million fold in power. Just from that look, which was his normal face, one could tell that he had earned his given title through his actions. Something that was worthy to take note of. But Azuma himself was the same way, but somehow the exact opposite. Wherein Sai's eye showed powerful potential, Azuma's eyes would show his evident wisdom and serene nature. But even serene waters may turn to rip tides if agitated enough. It was quite something that these to were both strong in their own way. But what he said next gave Azuma a bit of a start. Sai had just said that he knew who Azuma was and then named him by the 'Pied Piper of Oshu'. Azuma had no idea that someone such as the 'Cherry Blossom Killer' would know who he was. It seemed like no one could escape the occasional hearing of gossip through word of mouth, or maybe he read the newspaper... But he didn't seem the type to do the latter. Unintended hearing of gossip fit his bill better. Azuma could only reply in his softly toned voice, "And I you Sakurazukamori..." When told that he would not be asked why he was there, Azuma only nodded his head as if to give a show of gratitude and responding that he would not bother the young man with asking of his reasons either. They could easily have the same reason, or they could have completely different ones all together. But there was no point in finding out which it was, it was just knowledge that was unneeded at this point and time. As Sai began to walk past him, Azuma only stood still, letting the young man take his leave, there was no reason for him to stay here currently, and Zumy was content with the idea of being alone, that was why he had come out here in the first place. Just as Sai passed him, Azuma turned on his feet and watched the young man walk away. As he did so Azuma gave a slight bow, originating at his hips, and spoke out an almost silent "Thank you." He turned back to face the water now, and walked up to the edge. He sat down, letting his feet hang off the edge, and he cast his eyes to the still glistening ocean. Soon the sun would be high enough to cancel out this wondrous effect, and when that happens it would be a sign for Azuma to stand up and take his own leave of 'The Rock". But for now, he would sit happily, letting the salty sea breeze brush past him like strokes of art. When was the last time he had taken such a moment to himself?... This was the first time he skipped out on school also... But he didn't worry about it, there wouldn't be any repercussions, not today...

She took in a deep breath of the salty-sweet ocean breeze, stretching her lithe form after kicking off her trademark heels. She removed her legwarmers and sweater as well, being left with the summer uniform. She was grateful for it's light material, and her shoulders relaxed without the excess weight of her sweater. She knelt to pick out her cellphone from the pile, checking the time briefly. Class hadn't started yet, it seemed. It wasn't unlike her to simply go off some mornings on school days. For this instance, she'd had a hard time sleeping last night, what with rushing to finish her assignments and taking care of her brother Light, who seems to have gotten sick over the past week. The pinkette sighed softly, tossing her phone on top of her sweater before standing again. She turned to face the deep blue sea, regarding it with a smile.

A little after she sat down to enjoy the morning, she heard someone else trudging her way. Clover looked in the direction to find an unfamiliar (and scarred) face approaching her. She raised her brow curiously, then raised a hand to wave to him. "'llo," was all that she had really planned on saying for a moment, then decided better on it. She stood again, taking a moment to dust the sand off her skirt and hands before facing him. "I don't think I've seen you around here. Who might you be?"

User ImageIt wasn't as though his morning was ruined by the intrusion back atop 'the Rock' or anything, but he also couldn't say that he hadn't been hoping to stay up there a little longer. It wasn't a big deal, though. He wasn't the type who dwelt very long over things that didn't go his way for whatever unlucky reason; he simply moved on to the next part of his agenda, advanced his plan, or improvised as the situation allowed. And today's plan had been to simply spend the morning on the top of the plateau overlooking the Iwadate Cove, it seemed. Now that this option was out of the way, however, he adapted and moved down to the beaches below for an experience that most likely would be just as pleasant in its own way. If he was particularly enjoying himself by the time his shoes touched the sands of the beach and he started the slow walk down along the dry part of the land where the waves couldn't touch, he really didn't show it. His expression empty as ever and his crimson eye still to the brim with that unspoken energy, he moved until 'The Rock' was looming high above his head and then moved over to the point where the sand met the dirt and the beach became a small, forested land (as the beach in the Cove area actually extended beyond the city limits and the reaches of the resorts into a small, dense area of trees and low, uncut grass). Sliding his shoes from his feet without bending over, he barely made a noise until his shoes were no longer wrapped around his feet and the sands of the Iwadate cove were, instead. Sand squelched between his toes and parted beneath the soles of his feet, soft, granular feelings rubbing along and tickling him here and there. His lips set just a little deeper into that line, a sign that perhaps he was thinking of something, but he said nothing and made no noise as he started out away from his shoes and the grass and easily made his way towards the smallest of the rolling waves that lapped at the shore before him. It was just as the salt water touched his ankles and another wafting scent of sea salt and fish crashed into his nostrils like a hurricane that a voice alerted the truant Oshu City student to the fact that he wasn't alone down there.

How unusual! Two people down here to interrupt his peaceful, solitary reverie in two separate, isolated locations within a matter of minutes...both of them at this time of the morning. He might have been surprised or impressed by the coincidence or something if he were the type. Fortunately (or unfortunately), he wasn't. Instead, he simply turned his head slowly, smoothly until his intensely red eye found the form of the approaching girl making her way over towards him, walking along the beach. Instantly, he couldn't help but notice a few things about the girl approaching him. One, she seemed somewhat pleasant to his eyes, that smile on her face as she looked out towards the sea...and the wave she didn't hesitate to offer despite the fact that he couldn't recall ever having seen the girl before in his life. Where he came from, people didn't wave to him like that...it was just taboo, and one look at his face (with its scars and its piercings and his hard, burning gaze) was enough to make anybody abandon the thought rather swiftly. This girl didn't even seem to notice the neon warning signs blaring and telling her to keep her distance. Was it a sign that she wasn't the judgmental type, or did she really just not notice it? He would see. And the second thing he noticed was much simpler, and definitely something that someone like him wasn't apt to say straight out unless it was for a purpose. ...The girl had a dynamite pair of legs on her. Not that the focus of his eyes ever strayed away from the girl's face or the horizon in the distance behind her. He wasn't anything like that perverted fish sage back in Oshu...men like that simply had no shame whatsoever.

"Who are you? the violet-headed boy responded to her question with a question, his deep, stern voice miraculously sounding only slightly annoyed that he had to justify himself to some girl he had only just now seen...to tell her who he was, next question likely to be what he was doing there since she had never seen him there before. This beach was public and he was part of the public, wasn't he? He was well within his rights to wander the sands peacefully, without all of these constant interruptions. And yet, for all the reasons that he could have been offended and simply not answered her at all, he had...and what was more, he had asked her who she was, as though he were actually interested in the answer. Strange of him. He didn't even walk away or turn his eye from her, instead meeting her pleasant expression with his usual, empty gaze and that intense crimson eye that reflected all of that pent up...something or other inside of him, whatever it might be. Given Clover's history, it was quite possible that she might actually even notice the hint of something in that eye that most others wouldn't even begin to see past all of that raw intensity...that fear-inducing, heart-piercing gaze of his...but then again, maybe she wouldn't. After all, he had become fairly good at hiding. Having said that, he remained in place and watched her as though expecting an answer, his thinly pursed lips and unflinching gaze indicating that he probably expected that answer to come sooner, rather than later. If she was there to make conversation for some reason, it was still entirely possible that she might get it. But she was going to have to try a little...that much, with this guy, was obvious.

Upon approaching him, she got to see a better look at his face. And probably looked a little too long at those jagged lines that marred his face. The scars ran deep, and she briefly wondered just how deep before forcing the thought away. If he was really that pained, he probably didn't want some stranger wondering and worrying about him. Well, okay, not exactly worrying, since they'd really only just meant, but she'd seen just what the world could do to people. She realized what direction these thoughts were going in and really tried to brush them away - they were probably making her look a little confused and maybe even a little pained. When she'd heard his not-quite response, her smile came back, though this time a little kinder. "My name's Yotsuba," she declared, using her real name for once. She clasped her hands behind her back, feeling the curiosity about his stoic poise return with full force. "But call me Clover, okay? I'm a senior here."

She looked into his seemingly empty crimson eye, canting her head just a little as she tried to show how open she'd be. Her stance was relaxed, There was no force in any movement of hers, from her smile to when she moved the weight of her body from one leg to the other. The pinkette showed no signs of fear, or that she might flinch away. It was really dangerous to be so readily accepting of someone - he could really be as terrifying as the aura he radiated made him seem. But she felt otherwise, strangely enough. "I answered your question, mister mysterious guy. Can you please answer mine now?" she asked kindly, her smile turning a little to the playful side.

User ImageIt wasn't such a bad deal, being a scary-looking, mysterious guy...if you knew how to use those qualities to your advantage, that was. People these days were too familiar, always wanting to know about your business, where you were going, what you were doing, who you were and all these little details that people used to never ask unless there was an actual reason for doing so. When you were walking down a street and some vendor touched your arm to try and get your attention and lead you into their stand or booth, or some classmates simply wouldn't leave your desk or your lunch table until you told them what club you intended to join, that was far too familiar. Therein lay the benefits of being an unapproachable kind of person, one with an intimidating veneer or an ominous aura that surrounded him. If your eye practically screamed danger (the very color was red, Red! for God's sake...red meant stop!) and the thin line of your lips warned any who dared to get to close that you were in no mood for their garbage, that the scars covering half your face said that you weren't unfamiliar with pain (the suffering and application thereof), then people who got the bright idea to approach you quite often lost that idea right back where they had found it before they ever got a word out. And anybody who didn't notice those things about him, who pierced through that cocoon of personal space to speak to him as casually as this girl standing in front of him on the beach was doing right now had to be either very brave or very careless. Trying to apply either of those options to this girl, however, he found himself currently jamming her somewhere in the middle. Of course, at one glance a person would almost certainly peg her as the careless, air-headed type who just didn't pick up on signals such as the ones that gave him his mysterious and dangerous reputation. Sai Sakurazaka, however, wasn't quite that typical. When Clover looked into his eye she had seen something of the intense, darker feelings inside of him...she barely knew him and couldn't even begin to put an actual action behind those feelings, of course, but there were some things about a human that, when raw, were as identifiable in someone you had never met as in someone you had known your whole life. And it was for that reason that when confusion struck her and her eyes reflected the only hint of anything other than cheer they had and likely would emit, he hadn't missed it. It was for this reason that he was never swift to judge someone on looks alone. You never knew what might be lingering just beneath the surface.

Beyond his initial judgment, however, Sai also noticed that she hadn't even put up a fuss over his turning her own question back around on her; she answered with a name and a nickname, both of which he found slightly unusual...but not in a sense that was particularly unpleasant on the tongue. He registered her name in his mind and linked it with the face in front of him, but before he could answer back she dropped on him a tidbit of information that he should have expected. Turning his eyes back to the water slowly, he swished around the sudden distaste in his mouth and with a breath and a simple phrase it spat back out, gone as quickly as it had arrived. "Oh, another Guppy," his deep voice rumbled as he didn't seem surprised with the bit of information, and while his dislike for the 'Guppies' was evident there, it was evident that the distaste was directed at the school itself and not the girl. Rivalries were funny like that...you could like every person from a school that wasn't your own, but when it came to extracurricular activities, sports, you could be the bitterest of enemies. He supposed that it was just like that between their two schools...but that was a thought for another time. For now, the girl seemed insistent on drawing his name out of him, as though she were extracting a vial of liquid from his body with a long-needled syringe. Not that she was particularly intrusive about it, but that playful way about her and that kindly smile made it almost impossible for anybody to be downright rude to her and tell her to shove off. And Sai was no exception...though rather than rude or pushy, he might have just brushed past or put an end to this impromptu discussion in one way or another. Except that he didn't. And he wasn't. And when she turned that smile on him and joked about his 'mysteriousness', asking kindly for his name...a fashion of question that was far more scarce to him these days than would be normal for anyone else but him. He supposed he had no choice, then...turning his red eye back from the increasingly-bright horizon he found the girl's eyes and held them with his singular, crimson gaze. It was an unsettling thing about him, something that always made the people who talked to him squirm, but it wasn't rude or judgmental. He simply looked people in the eye when he was talking. It was only polite...though when he did it, people often wondered if he was doing something strange, trying to scare them, or worse, trying to peer into their souls through their glassy-eyed windows. As if...

"Very well," he began plainly, no hesitation in his voice as he faced the pinkette, feet still buried in the sand and the salty water pooled up about his ankles, "I am Sai Sakurazaka, a Senior at Oshu City High School. I'm here because I decided I would rather watch the sun rise here than go to today's classes there. ...I didn't expect to have company." He rattled off the information as though he were reading it from some sort of a manual written for just this kind of situation, but it wasn't a cursory or monotone delivery. It was curt but honest, almost surprisingly plain and honest coming from such a 'mysterious guy' as she had dubbed him. And yet even as he smoothly dropped the information there was a slight pause, a slight drawing out of a word here and there...a slight curl of the lips that was practically imperceptible...almost as if he were...testing for something? Gauging her? It was hard to tell exactly what. Though perhaps the next words to pass his pristine lips, the very slightest of hints of amusement or challenge tinting them, provided a glimpse at what was going on behind that eye. "Does my answer satisfy you, Clover?"

She scrunched her nose in disdain for the nickname. She really didn't get the school's mascot at all. Seriously? A fish? Way to be cool, guys. That, and simply the way he said it. Even if she was from here, what did that matter? Did he have some grudge against her school? Oh, wait, if that's the case, that means... "Then are you from Oshu?" Clover asked, tilting her head. That would explain why she didn't recognize him! Her smiled broadened when it appeared that her question, and she listened patiently as he spoke. His last statement made her wince, and she realized that maybe she had been intruding. Whoops. Well, it was pretty unusual for her to be joined when she escaped to the cove. She should have expected it, though. This was a public beach, after all.

Then... She seemed to catch something else. Playful? Who's to say. She laughed lightly once he inquired if he had indulged her with what she had asked for. "I have to say, you went beyond my expectations!" the pinkette admitted. "You're more honest than I thought you'd be. I'm glad," she said simply, rocking back on her heels. "Oh, but I'm not intruding on anything, am I? Would you rather have been left alone?" She pouted lightly. She would like to learn more about him, but she certainly wouldn't want to make an enemy of someone so... well, interesting? No, that wasn't the word she was looking for. She couldn't quit place it, but she did want to know more about him. Oh, gees, she realized she was staring and glanced away shyly towards the blue sea, then peeked in his direction, waiting.

User ImageHe had a thought that he might catch the girl slightly but surprise with his forthcoming response, though it was only an inkling in the back of his mind...certainly not something that he would have consciously done just to see what her reaction would be to it (right?). Whether he was or he wasn't, however, he was much more interested in the ways that the girl responded to his answers than to any of the questions that had been lobbed like a softball in his direction thus far; she was energetic and demonstrative (though all that Sai had seen was her more reserved self, the self that escaped to Coves to relax before school) which made her a constant subject of the scrutiny of his cherry-colored eye, the analytical clockwork inside of his complex mind. He noticed the way that her nose curled in distaste for the Shirokidan High School nickname and in spite of himself, the slightest of laughs...like a single 'Hm' rumbled in the back of his throat, the corners of his lips twitching in some small measure of amusement or perhaps satisfaction. Who named their high school mascot after the most pathetic fish in the seas? As Kosuke always said it, 'The Most Pathetic High School in Iwate Prefecture, that's who!' Not that he had any special hatred for the White Palace or the students therein, however...between the Oshu City Azure Dragons and the Guppies of Shirokidan, there had always been a lingering tension, a feud because of their proximity and constant clashes in sports, club contests, and other such things. Students on either side of the rivalry had always gone out of their way to stoke the fires with one another when they crossed in groups, and the competitions between them were heated to the point that often they needed the instructors to maintain order and prevent fights from breaking out amongst them. ...For two years now Sai had dominated the rivalry between the two schools when they crossed at Inter-Highs, and despite mostly going about his business in his usual, aloof manner he had often been approached, reproached, and on one (unfortunate) occasion even attacked for his cold dismissal of a Shirokidan opponent who accused him of cheating after a track meet. Frankly, he was sick of the over-privileged, self-indulgent rich punks who wouldn't let the bad blood between the two schools die; somewhere along the line, however, the old grudges found their way into his own line of thinking...hence his distaste for 'Another Guppy'.

Still...there was something about this girl, perhaps that she simply didn't approach him like he was 'Another Dragon' or just that he had no reason to actively dislike her...so he couldn't. And he didn't. And when she asked if he was from Oshu he simply nodded his agreement in a nigh-imperceptible tilt of his head, watching her for her response (and perhaps any instant when she might also revert back to that confrontational nature between Iwadate and Oshu that he might reconfirm his suspicions about them as a whole).

The moment he waited for didn't come, however, or at least it hadn't yet. Despite learning he was from Oshu, Clover seemed as amicable as ever to chatting with him. In fact, the way that she laughed for him when he remarked on his intentions for being here, and as to whether or not he had satisfied the oh-so-probing (not) questions that she had asked him, he found that he didn't particularly care for any of the misconceptions about the two schools and their tempestuous rivalry. Rather, he was more interested in this girl, herself, and the melodious sound of laughter that he had heard so rarely from anybody outside his inner circle that it was almost foreign to his ears. His crimson gaze watched as she rocked back into her heels, pouting a little and wondering if she had intruded on his reverie here at the Cove. Honestly, she had. But that was only in the most basic sense of the word 'intrusion'. Yes, she had broken up his private moment and added a second, outside voice to the thoughts that were locked up inside of that airtight mind of his, but at the same time, she had almost expertly slid into a groove of easy conversation that made the whole thing feel unusually comfortable. Thus, when she asked if she had intruded he paused and watched her for a moment, observing in that silent instant the way that her eyes turned shyly towards the sea...then peeked back at him, a tiny visual reminder that she was hoping for a response out of his stoic form. His vision turned back out onto the sea alongside hers; far out over the horizon, he could see the hot sun rising.

"No, it's fine," the violet-haired Senior from Oshu assured her calmly in that low voice of his, perhaps a little softer than most were used to hearing it (though of course, in a peaceful setting like this it was hard to be too intense, wasn't it?), "'The world is always more beautiful when you're watching it with someone else.'" It was surprising even to him that those additional words had slipped past his lips, but they just came naturally as he kept his crimson eye on the rolling waters and the peaceful, cloudy sky. It was like liquid pouring from between his lips, the way it leaked out of him, but even with his cup running over he didn't appear flustered or to even have an ounce of regret. In fact, he didn't seem to stop there...perhaps speaking a little more openly now than he had for a very long time prior. Each word seemed thoughtful, measured, but also purposeful. "Someone told me that, once," Sai continued lowly, the minor change in the inflection of his voice an unusual thing for him...perhaps a sign of reflection or reverie, brought on by this place and the peaceful view, "would you agree with that?"
