Ophelia sighed as she stared out over the sea from her perch of stone. It was a nice little spot on the beach- a tall, thick pillar of stone firmly rooted in the sand, slanted just enough that it was possible to climb- she had found when she was little, and then she had thought it so grand! But now... It didn't take the breath out of her like it used to; but it gave her a retreat from the chaos of life. It was... Nice.
Especially now. Some heathen had tried to kill poor little Styx earlier this afternoon. Ophelia hoped that it wasn't too much for the kit when she killed the murderous Ulaya right in front of her, but it was Styx she was talking about. And she also hoped that it didn't leave a bad example when Ophelia left the corpse to rot where it fell, and walked away practically soaked in blood. In fact, it had left a trail and had taken hours to wash out of her pelt.
At least now she was all alone.

Rave splashed around in the ocean waves. Others had told her of the massive waves and how amazing the vast blue water was, but being born deep in the forest she had never ventured out far enough to see it; well not until now. She was so glad she had traveled to see the beautiful ocean. Rave continued swimming and playing in the salty water until she finally receded to the warm beach, sopping wet.
Hmmm, I wonder what I can play with now? Rave glanced around looking for something to entertain her. Then she saw another Ulaya perched on top of a towering slab of stone. Her ears perked up immediately as she darted towards dark colored female, sunlight shimmering off her soaked fur. As Rave neared the huge rock her slick paws slipped from underneath her, forcing head first into the very hard stone. Cursing, she slowly rose, her language becoming more colorful as the pain throbbed. Rave gently pawed at her head, checking the injury, her paw was covered with a sticky liquid. Why do I have to be such a moron?

Ophelia's head snapped up and her eyes opened wide as a coppery scent reached her. Blood. In a heartbeat she was on her feet and scanning for the source, but as soon as the cursing started it didn't take her long. The source was a bright green Ulaya, whose head was covered in a dark liquid that oozed from an ugly-looking gash on her head. By the way she was dealing with it, it was easy to tell she was a forest-dweller. If you cut yourself on the beach, you had to rinse it out with saltwater.
Jumping down off her perch and into seawater that reached her ankles and soaked the bottom of her tail, Ophelia was by the Ulaya in a flash. Although it didn't show, relief washed through her as she saw that the cut wasn't very deep: the white bone of skull didn't show. "This might sting a bit, but you need to dunk you're head underwater. The salt in the water will keep it from becoming infected."

Rave hissed at the pain; she'd banged her head a lot in the forest, but it'd never hurt her this much. Surprised, she stumbled back a bit as she saw the dark female at her side immediately. She looked curiously at the horned Ulaya as her blue eyes scanned the ugly wound. Not questioning her commands, Rave held her breath and dipped her wounded head into the water. The stinging was almost unbearable, but she forced her agonized head under for nearly a minute.
Rave rose from the water, her fur drenched. She smiled at the other Ulaya who had helped her. "Thank you, who are you?" she said as she began pawing at the gash on her head. The bleeding was beginning a cease, but she knew the pain would linger around for several days.

Ophelia was beginning to wonder weather or not the other Ulaya had drowned when she surfaced, head soaked and green fur dripping. There was something to show for it, though- the bleeding had slowed to the point where the gash only seeped. Huh. Honestly, she hadn't expected it to work nearly so well on such a big cut. Ophelia's eyes changed colors to blue-green as she began to relax slightly- but only slightly. She still had no idea who this Ulaya was.
Or what, for that matter.
"Ophelia. And who are you?" If this were one of her trusted few, like Styx, then Ophelia would have winced and almost immediately apologized at how cold that introduction had sounded. As it was, unfortunately, this Ulaya wasn't one of her trusted few- so ever stoic Ophelia had to remain.
