Maybe it was cruel for Vildsvin to have wandered so far from where she left Björn and that other wolf - that other female wolf - knowing he would have to backtrack quite a bit to find her again. Something pushed her, however, something she didn't want to put a name to, and the scarred vagabond found herself marching until her muscles burned and she knew she was far from the edges of that female's pack. So what if Björn wanted to look into joining a pack? So what if he liked the idea standing still, raising pups, growing old? So what if he went looking elsewhere for the things he wanted, when she didn't want them?
Soon, however, she found herself passing near border markings she didn't recognize the scent of. Maybe it was a new pack? Vildsvin and Björn had crossed through this area a while ago, when they'd first started wandering, and she'd thought this was a smattering of lone wolf ranges and small pairings. Tired, she paused to sniff a tree both out of curiosity and for an excuse to rest her tired body.

Dumaka had been taking a small break from refreshing the border markings to stretch his aching muscles. He was still sore from the previous night's omega duties of being the pack's punching. As usual they left no visible marks, no bite marks or scratches, but he still felt the dull ache that happens from sleeping on bruises. He wasn't particularly upset with his situation; he'd always been an omega. However Dumaka was beginning to feel the frustrations of the three youngest members of the pack with more frequency. He supposed that was a result of Ralastor’s training. The adolescents could never do right by him. It was mid stretch when Dumaka saw a slight movement in the brush from the corner of his eye, close to the next marking. It was barely more than a leaf moving out of sync with the breeze yet Dumaka had noticed it. His perceptiveness was perhaps his most redeeming feature. His hearing was poor in comparison to another wolf’s and he had a slighter build than most. Dumaka was visibly the weakest in his pack. He had trained himself to notice small visual cues that others would miss just in order to survive. Taking a breath he calmly shouted, “You’re trespassing on Warugaruga land. You best be leaving if you have no intention of joining the pack.” He kept some air in his lungs in case he needed to call the rest f the pack to his location.

Vildsvin's ears flattened against her skull. Right. That was why she couldn't stand packwolves. Lifting her head and searching in the direction the voice had come from, she tried to locate the wolf that had spoken. How many were there? Were they aggressive? Strong looking? The marking she'd stopped to smell had a few layers of different scents; this was no one-man show. Still, she had dealt with border guards before without needed to turn tail and run. She had the scars to prove it.
"Just passing through," she said back, unsure where the other wolf was, tensing up and on her guard. Her semi-guarded tone spoke of mild annoyance, defiance, and dismissal. "I don't want to join any packs, thank you. I'll be away from your lands soon, and I'm no poacher. I only take prey from unclaimed territory." She was skinnier for it, too, but that was the life of any lone wolf and it was a policy that had saved her hide more than once.

Female. The voice seemed female to him. The voice also seemed agitated. And while he didn’t miss the defiance in her voice Dumaka didn’t think she sounded insincere. He weighed his options briefly in his head. He could send for the rest of the pack or he could further investigate on his own. He quickly ruled out the pack as an option. She posed no immediate threat nor, as she had stated, did she seem likely to join the pack. It would be a waste of Ralastor’s time. Dumaka also admitted to himself that he was curious about the other wolf. He had very limited exposure to wolves that were not part of the pack. He cautiously moved himself toward the other wolf. His stance was defensive showing that he clearly did not wish to fight. Moving through the last of the brush Dumaka noticed the scars on the other wolf first. She must be strong, he thought, more reason for her to leave then if she has no intention of joining. He quickly sized up the rest of the wolf hoping that the glance was at least somewhat discreet. “The Warugaruga are not particularly hospitable to...” his voice trailed off as he searched for the right word. Trespassers seemed too antagonizing while guests seemed too friendly. Finally Dumaka settled on, “wanderers.”

Vildsvin snorted. Once the packwolf had come into view, any fear of a fight went out of her. She had fought - and occasionally defeated - wolves much, much bigger than she was. The autumn-coloured male before her certainly did not count as a member of that category. The real danger, she knew, was in his ability to summon more of the members of the pack. No matter how big or small or weak or tough a border guard was, as long as they had the ability to call for help, they could be fatal to a lone wolf that didn't mind their manners. Vildsvin had learned that the hard way.
"I won't bother you, then. I wasn't planning on crossing the pack line." She kept her tone neutral; not pandering, but not outright rude. Her long trek had left her drained, and she didn't feel like evading a full-out pursuit from a pissed off pack. "I was just curious."

Dumaka arched an eyebrow at the female, he had to admit to himself that he too was curious. She was leaner than the vast majority of pack wolves he had known. Again his eyes were drawn to her scars. Between her demeanor and her appearance Dumaka concluded that she was probably being sincere. Curious, he thought.
"If you truly don't intend on crossing the border than you aren't a bother at all," Dumaka said still looking at the female's scars. Soon Dumaka realized that his scrutinizing look may come across as rude and cast a quick glance to his side. He didn't particularly feel like provoking a wolf that could clearly take care of herself. Quickly his mind wandered to what he thought Ralastor would have to say if he knew that an evidently strong female wolf was wandering around the boarders. He'd likely try to recruit her... Despite her not wanting to join any packs.
It would benefit the pack to have another female. Or at least an ally outside of the pack. As it stood the only female in the pack was Tasso and she was still young. Leaps and bounds ahead of Dumaka but still learning.
He was silent while thinking these things through. Then partially due to his own curiosity but mostly for a sense of duty to his pack Dumaka nodded to the side, "If you need to hunt there should be a herd of deer to the west. They passed the markings late yesterday after a hunt so there should be no trouble from the other wolves."
((Sorry love, I have so much trouble getting more than a line and a half for a paragraph that once I get an idea I kind of run with it too long))

((Don't be silly! That's some quality RP right there, missy! Just go with it and have fun and don't worry about length.))
Although his eyes on her, lasting much longer than she felt comfortable with, set Vildsvin on edge, his hunting tip made her relax again. For a packwolf, he didn't seem so horrible. Something about his mannerisms reminded her of Björn, a little bit, and that was always a point in any wolf's favour.
"Thank you," she said, reluctantly. It was probably, she presumed, that he was a weaker member of the pack that made him less confrontational. Surely an aggressive wolf without the physical powers to back up their attitude would not survive long in a pack. As she thought of that, she smiled a little. Maybe that was why she could never bring herself to join a pack.
Her eyes flicked up to the male. "My name is Vildsvin," she said on an impulse. She had little to trade or gift this stranger for his kindness - her name was one of the few things she could give.

Dumaka nodded his head at her thanks. He didn't feel he truly deserved it. He was after all trying to act in the best interests of the pack. However the little bit of him that had been motivated by curiosity welcomed her words more than he thought he should. It was rare for the omega to receive any words of thanks. Not that he truly minded the oversight. Dumaka started a little when she gave her name while meeting his eyes. Out of habit he lowered his gaze, choosing to look at Vildsvin's paws. He hadn't expected her to give his name. Not really. "And I am called Dumaka," he responded only chancing a small glance towards her face so as not to appear afraid. In fact he was surprisingly not on edge. Perhaps it was her civility.

Vildsvin regarded him for a while, uncertain of what to say, mildly amused by the contrast between his cringing body posture and his words. He seemed less brutish, less obsessively over-masculine than so many of the males she'd met in her travels. Of course, Björn didn't ascribe to those behaviours, either. The thought filled her with longing for her old friend. Surely he'd be done with that landbound trollop by now, and looking for her again. It was time to move on.
"Thank you, Dumaka. I appreciate your kindness, even if it is not a custom of your family." She bobbed her head, and although her face did not smile, her eyes did.

Dumaka once again nodded at Vildsvin's thanks. "None is needed," he said with some truth. Momentarily Dumaka felt some guilt over the majority of his motivations. He wasn't a truly kind person, at least he didn't feel like he was. He realized with an inward start that he was starting to like the feeling of being appreciated. It was something that he had only experienced from the pups he watched over in his old pack. Of course the appreciation from an adult was completely different from a pup who was just happy to have the attention of an adult. Of course, he noted to himself, I'll have to shut that preference down once I return to the pack.
He got to his feet and met her eyes for a quick moment before once again bobbing his head. "And it isn't the custom of the pack," he put emphasis on the last word, "So I feel that it is only right to warn you about the borders. I would advise you to be careful about who you meet from the Warugaruga." Dumaka started to pad away in the direction of the next marker, "oh, and happy hunting," he said from over his shoulder.
