The quiet patter of paws could be heard along the soft rubble. Looking down she gave a small whimper. It had been a long time since she had come down this road, a long time indeed. With every step along the rocks, she thought about what it meant to be back on this side of the island. She had moved far away, far away from anything that had resembled even the littlest bit of civilization and now she returned.

Having not been here since she was a child she gave a small nod, veering off the path and into the woods. Her long wavy hair bounced around her face as she hopped up upon a small stone formation. She admired it as she laid out her body, the soft stone rubbing against her back. "I wonder if anyone still lives near here..." she thought to herself as she closed her eyes, singing to herself a sad yet familiar tune.

Ken-ohki sat in the long grass, looking up at the blossoming trees gathered around him. He enjoyed spring time, it was the only time of the year that the forest which had looked dead for so long finally shows it's life once again. The colors and the scents were nothing like any of the other seasons and amazed him how glorious they were. Raising his nose to the sky, Ken-ohki sniffed the breeze that blew past him, taking in the scents of the season. But something different danced upon his smell, the scent of someone unfamiliar in the area. Lowering his head, Ken-ohki looked around to see if he can find is unknown company. Lifting an ear to listen, the cabbit scanned his vision for any movement he might be able to catch with his sight, his ear barely being raised off the ground. Standing up, his fluffy tail raised into the air, Ken-ohki started walking in the direction the scent came from, trying to see who might be around the area.

Reaching the edge of the grass and stepping foot on the rocky soil of the path, the cabbit turned his direction as his large ears picked up a slight sound of singing. "Strange." He began walking down the pathway, towards the mystical voice, wondering in his mind what she would look like once he gets there. Reaching his destination, Ken-ohki paused and looked the female ulaya laying before him over, listening to her singing which was taking him over. He enjoyed the sounds of her voice, they were pleasant to his ears which heard sounds much better than a normal ulaya.

After a couple minutes of watching her, Ken-ohki sat down and flicked his head so his ear was no longer on his paw before speaking to her. "I love your voice." He said quietly, he didn't want to startle her but figured it was better than her noticing him watching her without speaking a word. Lowering his tail to the ground the cabbit waited for her to reply, hoping she wouldn't be mad at him for being there during her time of solitude.

Her song pressed on, words flowing from deep within her, bursting to life with the sweet spring surrounding. The woods were calm to her song, even the birds, seemed to chip less as she sang. Miz'ri was lost in her own little world until she heard the whisper of a stranger. Stopping in mid song, she turned and let out a small gasp, sliding gently from the rock and bowing her head. “Sorry I did not see you there. I'm sorry to have disturbed you, I thought no one was around.” She was quick to be apologetic. Miz'ri never saw herself as much of a fighter and because of this was always apprehensive when it came to others. Even if she truly did no wrong.

Looking up, she gave a small smile. Her pale purple cheeks raising high to cover her bright teal eyes before she closed them. Long blue tendrils falling around her face in waves as she leaned a paw up to slide them to the side. “Thank you Sir.” she said, sitting tall now, keeping her shoulders back and her posture as straight as once could. “It is not often I am given complement on my singing. Back home, my friend usually tells me to quiet myself or I'll scare the fish away.” She said with a small uneasy laugh. Her mind a flutter, as she looked over the stranger, admiring his rather large and unique ears.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Ken-ohki raied a paw into the air with his words "Oh no, I quite enjoy your voice, actually. I don't get many visitors around here so it's a pleasant change to have indeed." He was probably the most friendly ulaya she could encounter in these woods, he would never harm anything because Ryo-ohki would hate him if he did. Lowing his paw back to the ground he stood up, his large ears touching the ground next to him, and raised his tail up with his smile. "I'm Ken-ohki, I've been living around here for a little while now, waiting for my friend to come back. She has a knack for wandering off but I always wait around for her to return." He was trying to sound a kind as he could for he was rather happy the other ulaya seemed just a nice as he was. "You can keep singing if you want to, don't stop because I'm here." He felt rather bad for interrupting her personal moment but he didn't want to scare her with his presence, he would feel even worse if she got scared by him, the gentle cabbit from the forest.

Feeling the breeze coming up behind him, Ken-ohki watched her hair dance as it blew, causing it to flow in all directions. He had never seen an ulaya with such long hair before, in fact he hadn't really seen many other ulayas at all now that he thought about it. Ryo-ohki was the only one he ever really met, all the others he stayed hidden while they were passing through the forest, afraid that they wouldn't be friendly and cause problems for him. She, however, seemed friendly from the start which made him comfortable enough to finally talk to another ulaya. He particularly liked the star markings on her cheeks, they were unique like his ears, only not as obvious to see. He wondered what had brought her around here, seeing as he hadn't had another come in this area for a long time, which was exactly why he found it to be the perfect place to live for a while.

Miz'ri could not help but smile. The long eared one before her appeared to be rather gentle and calming and this eased the awkward feeling she got around him. It had been so long since she had come across someone who didn't hit on her off the bat, growl at her, or dismiss her entirely and walk off. It was almost refreshing to her. "You live around here? I did not think anyone still did. Though it does not surprise me that there is some. I don't remember this area to much I am afraid. I haven't been here since I was a small kit." her eyes straying from Ken for the moment. "Forgive me, I have been rude. My name is Miz'ri. It is a pleasure to meet you Ken-ohki." giving a small bow, "The friend you speak of must be very lucky to have someone who waits around for them. Though I can see where sitting around, alone, all the time can grow boring."

Standing to meet him, she shook her tail lightly, making sure to get any loose debris free from it. The last thing she wanted was to spend a great deal of time this evening picking things from her wavy tresses. "Oh, no, my song it is nothing. I was done anyway". Despite his very calming manner, she was still leery. Her family had always told her to be leery of anyone. Everyone was a monster in their own right. Shaking this thought from her head. She leaned down, half resting on the rock. "Your friend, are they gone for long periods of time? If you don't mind me prying, how come you don't travel with your friend. Isn't travelling better with multiple persons?"

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Ken-ohki sat back down, shaking an ear off his paw again, and tilted his head some as he listened to her. He didn't think that maybe she had been here before, since he never sees anyone around it just never came to mind. "Oh, I don't mind waiting around here, it's peaceful. I don't mind not going, she is more energetic than me and has the motivation to travel." He let out a soft chuckle before continuing. "She isn't gone for long, anyway. Maybe a night or so is all, really." Ken-ohki enjoyed talking to her, she was someone different, someone that didn't already know everything about him which made the conversation nice. "We can take a walk if you'd like, to see the place again. I know my way around here so at least you won't get lost looking around. There is a lake a little ways from this path, it has crystal clear water that is cooling and pleasant to drink if you'd like to see it." He thought it was nice that she had been here before because maybe she can show him some places he never thought to look before.

The day was still young and Ryo-ohki hadn't planned to return that day for she was off with a friend to help them find something. Ken-ohki had made it a habit to go visit the lake in the evening and watch the sunset, he enjoyed the colors that reflected off the water's surface and danced across the sky, it gave an even more peaceful feeling to the area than it already had. Adjusting the collar around his neck, Ken-ohki began playing with a pebble he had found on the path in front of him, it's colors were unique and had caught his eye. Green and white, they were found riddled all the way down to the end of the forest and only found in this area. He found them to be special like Ryo-ohki and himself, one of a kind and much like the ulaya in front of them.

Miz'ri smiled, giving a small nod of thanks. She hadn't expected Ken-ohki to invite her around the area, let alone be such a nice gentleman. As she sat there listening to his words, not wanting to cut him off. “That sounds like a wonderful idea. I could use a crisp cool drink and I am certain that with it being spring the area around it will be quite a site. If that's okay with you. I wouldn't wish to be too much of a bother.” Miz'ri raised a paw, pulling her hair to the side and giving a huge warm smile as she stood.

We are still a little ways from where I was born...and the area has changed but if I see something, anything that looks familiar. I will be sure to point it out and we can explore some.” She continued as they began to head off towards the lake. She made note to watch carefully where they were going and made notes of any unique points of reference for later. “It's funny, wouldn't you think? To see that how much things can change in the course of years?"

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Setting off together the two made their way to the lake that Ken-ohki had mentioned before. "Of you're not a bother at all, I'm actually enjoying your company. I tend to spend a lot of time by myself but this is nice." They walked for a little while along the path before the cabbit turned off from the warn down dirt and started taking them through the forest. The thickest areas were behind them and the woods here were broken up and easier to walk through which was why he took this path more. He hated having to take the pucker brushes and burrs from his silky fur at the end of the night, he didn't want to bother with that today. His ears dragging along the forest's floor, Ken-ohki looked behind him once in a while to make sure Miz'ri was still with him. He wanted to have a nice conversation with her but hadn't a clue what to say to someone he just met. Maybe he should try to talk about her past here? Shaking his head to himself he just continued to walk in silence, listening to the sounds of the woods around them. Ken-ohki was enjoying his day with Miz'ri and found it to be a good change to have someone else to enjoy his time with.

Finally they made it to the lake's edge, a breeze flowed over the water's surface and caused the hairs on his ears and tail to dance around. It was a cooling wind that set a relaxing mood to match the peaceful scenery that stood before them. "This is my favorite place, if I'm not sitting in the sunny field then this is where I will be. In case you ever want to come and visit me again, that is." He began to play with another colorful pebble much like the one he had before and kept his gaze on the ground. He was still somewhat shy around others but Ryo-ohki had done so well at making sure he was more confident than he used to be.

After some time, the cabbit ulaya stepped over to the water and lowered his maw to it's surface. Sniffing the air a little before touching the wet with his nose, Ken-ohki began lapping up the cold liquid, it's chilling moisture flowing down his throat and into his stomach. It was refreshing to taste the crystal clear water, it was the cleanest he had found anywhere for miles which made his favorite place even more special. The stones of color that he found all over could be seen shimmering under the water's surface, the light from the sun dancing around casting reflections glowing on the ulaya's body.
