Inspired by this thread.

Dressing in yukata and kimono is fun. You look good, you feel good, and everyone else knows it. Kimono/Yukata make for great compliments and you are continuing a dressing tradition that most people don't know about.

So, what are the best reactions you've gotten while in a kimono or yukata? Were you pulled onto a cosplay stage to show what traditional Japanese dress can look like? Does having people comment about well you dressed make you feel good?

If it does, let's hear your story/stories.

Most of the time it honestly just makes me feel awkward. Especially when someone asks "who are you dressed as?". I do try to use it as an opportunity to educate people.

One time a Japanese woman told me I dressed better than she ever could though, that was really flattering.

I also had a taiko troupe tell me they were watching me from the stage and they were touched and inspired by my outfit.

People complimented Dino (who was cross-dressing in my kimono), but not me.

Only one person asked who I was.

No one even asked for a photo.

The last one, I was very grateful for.
