((This RP is open to all students who plan on attending the prom! Guen is from Crystal, so if you're from there you can pretend you've seen her around on campus if you like - she's kind of a shy, fade into the background type. This will take place whereever the most shops are - I'm gonna pretend there's an outlet mall somewhere downtown. >_>

ANYWAY, the goal here find a dress (or tux!), chatter, gossip about so and so's hair, and make friends with Guen cause she's rly hawt. If we get some guys in here you can also mob them for a date.

Dress shopping.

Guen was pretty neutral on the subject. She was going to prom to make her mother happy; in order to do that, she had to find a dress. A new dress- her mother threatened to ground her if she came home with something vintage that smelled of mothballs. At least she let me go on my own, she thought to herself. Her mother tagging along was a disaster waiting to happen. Guen could feel a headache threatening just from thinking about it.

So, on sunny Tuesday afternoon, instead of walking straight home, Guen found herself at the outlet mall. She wasn't really sure where to begin - she knew she wanted something in cream...or maybe blue? Sweetheart neckline? Strappless? Halter top? Formal wear really wasn't her forte. She figured she'd just try things on until she found something she liked. She'd overheard a few other girls talking about coming this afternoon- there was supposedly a prom sale going on at one of the stores. She wondered who she'd run into- maybe she could ask them for advice.

Steeling herself, she went into the first store she came across - Destiny Dresses. She blinked, adjusting her eyes to the dimness of the shop.

Also in the shop was a significantly less concerned girl. Destiny Dresses also happened to be a pretty alright purveyor of ties and formalwear that was sufficiently girly to keep Tate's estranged mother quiet, while suiting Tate's own desire to not look like the helpless princess everyone had to rescue.

Dear knights: This princess rescues her own damn self.

However, she was not unaware of the upcoming prom. Apparently Dani and Parker had been intending to go, except after Parker's botched proposal that was definitely off. (Honestly: Why was he being such an a** about it? Tate could have told him it was not going to go well. The girl had only been out of a coma for a few months. She had to have, like, a bucket list or something. And Tate hadn't forgotten that he was the one who'd broken up, not Dani.) She had settled herself conveniently near a rack of dresses--they really were pretty, she thought the emerald green of a halter sheath next to her would look pretty against her auburn hair--to watch the fiasco. There were a few styles she thought would face high competition, and she fully intended to watch every second.

Really, it was too bad Grayson's little girlfriend had had her dress picked out for weeks. Poor Elke would get steamrollered.

Her placement was such that a teal-haired girl coming through the door happened to stare at her just long enough to spark Tate's ire. Sure, the shop was dark--she might just be adjusting--but all the same, she snapped, "Can I help you with something?"

Just her luck - Guen found herself staring at a tall, suit-ish looking person. A person who didn't seem to appreciate being stared at. This was going to be a long evening. God, don't they have any proper lights in this place? She wondered if that was how they managed to afford to host this sale - by killing most of the electricity. Clever, but how was she supposed to make one gown from another? It was like a cave in here - a large, dress-filled, air conditioned cave. Ok, the analogy could use a bit of work.

Blinking harder, she said, "Ah, yes sir!" She started to avert her gaze...

...And then her vision cleared. She gasped as she made eye contact. Yes, it was still a suit. A suit with breasts. Granted, the other girl had rather short hair and was in suspenders, so it was an honest mistake. Somehow though, Guen had a feeling that it wouldn't be well recieved. She resisted the urge to flinch. Oh, and it is ALL downhill from here, she thought glumly, as she started to stammer out an apology. It's not like she had expected the trip to be wholly pleasant anyway.

"Sorry, ma'am, just looking for, ah, a dress..."

It had been so long since Ares had actually stopped to take the time to be Fallon. Prom had been a date marked on the teenager's calendar for months. Organized events were the girl's bread and butter. But then Operation Rota happened and her entire life was thrown out of whack. The nice thing about finding it nearly impossible to henshin without an enraged Nega breathing down her neck was that it forced her to spend more time as a civilian, time that she had not given to that other side of her for awhile.

Apparently, that meant dress shopping.

Being a Crystal Academy girl with a big bank account, Fallon tended to err on the side of designer boutiques. But she had been in the neighborhood of the outlet malls and decided to see what Destiny Dresses might have hiding in its many racks -- a diamond in the rough for her to pluck out, tailor, and then hit the dance floor wearing.

Stepping out from one of the changing rooms in a floor-length ivory gown with embellishments fishtailing all across the skirt, Fallon crossed over toward the three-way mirror. There was a vaguely familiar teal-haired girl nearby speaking with another girl wearing what was decidedly not a dress. The other girl was asking for help -- oh, did this short-haired one work here?

Fallon stepped up beside her, looking something like a gaudy mermaid on her wedding day. "Sorry to interrupt," she said, sliding up beside the teal-haired one. "Do you work here? I was trying to find another size in one of the dresses in my room." Magenta eyes flickered to the girl beside her. There was a spark of familiarity. "Do you... go to Crystal?" she asked the other one.

(( Ravvlet, I hope it's cool that I assume they have seen each other in the halls or something! Fallon would probably be known as an aloof girl who has been missing a lot of school recently and sometimes throws dinner parties. She cooks a lot for people who live on her floor. DUNNO. I'm trying to key in on general things to give you a sense of her. ))

Bell had graduated last year, and certain incidents had lead her to miss her own prom. Looking back on it, it was probably for be better. But now the former Crystal Academy student was getting another go at it. She really didn't care much for the dress she had purchased for last year anymore - too dark, dreary, and poofy. Really she didn't know what she'd been thinking in choosing it...

None the less, she stepped into the poorly lit store with at least a vague idea of what she wanted in mind. Floor length, not really poofy, but not clinging to her legs either. Preferably rather modest - nothing she was going to be falling out of, anyway. Did they even make formal dresses like that anymore? Hell, did they make clothes like that anymore?
Well,...she'd start with the color blue. It was a predictable choice for her.

Bell really seemed to pay no mind to the others that were there, chatting. It wasn't any of her business what they were talking about anyway. That and she wasn't that keen on being recognized by her past Crystal peers. Bell had never really been your ideal Crystal student, and wasn't very liked among some of them. Too much like a Meadowview girl. It was her father's money that kept her boarded at Crystal. Paid tuition. Sigh...

Lily walked into the store, she wasn't a crystal girl, no she attended Meadowview, but their prom was a joint endeavor so everyone tended to shop around the same time. It had been her goal as of late, to go back to some sort of normality. Yes, of course she was still patrolling, but not as often as she had been before. No, now was about upcoming finals and prom. Her sister was surprised to hear she would shop for the dress herself, even going all teary idea and dramatic.

Her parents were happy their child was looking much less like a zombie, even if she still looking tired. It couldn't be helped though and Lily was trying not to think about it. She looked better than she had in weeks past, the dark circles now far less visible.

She wanted something with lace as always. She was was such a creature of habit when it came to such things. Smiling she moved toward a rack of dresses not really paying much attention to who was around her, no she was looking at a lovely little purple dress. Was purple her color? Oh she was so bad at this sort of thing, but the dress was pretty.

If asked nicely, it was not completely impossible to think that Tate would help with analogies. Or picking out dresses. Still, the automatic assumption that she was male had already set her teeth on edge. In a city where a guy was likely to have hair as much as three times longer than hers, it might be forgivable, but still!

Also, she liked the way she dressed. Other people just needed to stop associating ties with men. It was clearly their problem.

"I don't recommend matching your hair color," she said, icily. "You'd look like a toothpaste advertisement. And white would wash you right out." Seeing that the girl did look a little worried and uncomfortable, though, she relented. "Avoid warm colors, too. Try a deep, cool green like this one--" what was the girl, a four or a six? Tate decided to just pluck out the green so the teal-haired girl could see. "Or else a deep blue. I think you can find them right over there." She pointed to a rack full of blue dressed, by which a girl with ash-blonde hair was browsing.

Tate: Secret dress guru? Maybe. Probably not. But she did know color, so probably she was giving good advice. ... Probably. At least she wasn't advising shoulder-armor and greaves; most of her experience dressing others had been in the realms of violent video games. She looked to a magenta-haired girl, annoyed again, and winced at the mermaid tail dress. So 2010. "Do you know where you got it from originally? I'd try there first."

Maybe Tate was in the wrong career field.

Well... this was going to be awkward, Jaimie thought, as he stepped into the shop. He'd been hoping that at least a couple guys would be in here looking for a tux, but then again, most guys who'd probably be going stag probably figured on tossing on an suit jacket and winging it, but he'd always been about adding that extra layer of class.

He rather thought he tended to look good in whatever he was wearing, and didn't mind matching details with his date, but he didn't -have- a date to match, so the color selection was entirely up to him, which was making him a bit more hesitant than he'd actually expected to be.

Guen followed her finger automatically to the dresses where the other girl was standing. Toothpaste. Well, at least it's...minty fresh? Did she HAVE to point it out in front of everyone in the store? Her hair was a bit of a sore point - her mother insisted she should dye it but Guen kind of LIKED the ice princess look. She was beginning to get the idea that not everyone might share that sentiment. But, Tate did have some really good advice -it was obvious that she at least was better at color color-coordination. Since Guen's favorite colors involved khaki with splashes of red - which wasn't really a common motif in formalwear - she decided to defer to the other girl's opinion.

And not to make any more potentially disparaging comments. If this was a cave, Guen was pretty sure she'd found the dragon.

"I was thinking blue," she replied hesitantly. She moved toward the indicated rack, and stopped. Do you...go to Crystal? Guen turned slightly, squinting in concentration.

"Yeah, I mean yes..." Magenta eyes. Huh. She vaguely remembered seeing this girl around- not much though. Maybe she was in another class. Guen tried for a joke this time. Nice and safe. "Did the uniform give me away?" She smiled tentatively. She had to move aside again though, to clear the doorway as another person entered the shop - and this time, she was pretty sure he was decidedly male, despite his shoulder length hair.

Fallon blinked slowly at the salesgirl in the suspenders. Why was she so helpful with the other girl and so utterly unhelpful for her? It was very rude. If Fallon had been entirely serious about purchasing her prom dress here, she probably would have prickled at the girl. Instead, she furrowed her brow for a moment and then turned to regard the blue-haired girl beside her.

"Yes, the uniform," she said, laughing politely. "I think I've seen you in the hallway before -- did we take French together? I can't seem to put my finger on it..." The truth was that Fallon remembered pretty girls, and Guen was pretty. The face hung in her mind even if the name didn't. "I'm Fallon," she added belatedly.

The salesgirl who had given her the cold shoulder had given some great tips. Another girl wearing a smock and a name tag brushed by, carrying an armful of dresses. Fallon looked between Tate and the uniformed one. "Oh, you don't work here," she said suddenly. "Sorry, you were just being so helpful, I thought..." The words trailed off. Her attention was still largely on Guen, but she didn't want to let her error go unnoticed.

She hadn't realized that her friend Lily was in the store yet, and since Fallon very rarely paid attention to boys, Jaime had escaped her notice too. She was aware of Bell out of the corner of one eye, but did not recognize her.

Claudia Jensen stood in the doorway to the dress shop, unsure of what she was doing. She had heard talk of a sale, and while she didn't need to shop sales, she thought they might have some nice shoes. She could never have enough shoes. She was nervous though, as of late she had been spending more time as Zanazziite than Claudia it seemed and she was forgetting how to interact with normal people. Of course she still went to school, her parents had bought her way into Crystal they wouldn't be all that happy if she got bad grades, but beyond that most her interactions were with the Negaverse, or the animals down at the shelter.

Fidgeting she lifted her hand to worry pearls that weren't around her neck. She had changed out of her Crystal uniform before coming to the dress shop and she didn't think pearls had a place on the outfit she had chosen to wear. Violet eyes glanced towards her bag, she should have called Gently, a familiar face would be comforting. She still could call her, but she didn't know if the older woman was busy, or would even want to look at shoes and dresses with her.

Taking a breath to steady herself she walked into the dimly lit store, blinking behind her glasses. The lighting seemed counter productive, how was she supposed to see how things looked when it was this dim?

She paused by the dresses, violet eyes looking over the group that was milling around. She recognized one or two of them from school, but there was no one there that she had really talked with before. Claudia was heading towards the back wall that was covered with shoes, but paused her eye being caught by a pink dress. It wasn't her colour at all, but it was pretty. She let the skirt of the dress slide out from between her fingers, no it wasn't the dress for her. She wanted something blue, to match her hair, but she didn't think she'd find what she wanted here. It didn't hurt to look though.

The bluenette moved towards the rack of blue dresses, fingers running over them. She wanted something pretty, but modest. She didn't mind going strapless (she could always wear a wrap), but she definitely wanted a long dress. Nothing short or sexy for Claudia Jensen.

Lily pulled out the purple dress and looked over it holding it up and trying to guess whether it would look good on her. Even if she tried it on she needed an opinion. She frowned wondering if prom shopping alone was a terrible idea. She sighed placing the dress back on the rack, it did not have any lace anyway.

She looked around hoping to see someone she knew and was surprised to see three someones she knew. Bell, Jaimie, and Fallon. She decided Bell probably wasn't the best idea. Really she did not wish the awkwardness that was thick between her and the Basterds. Her eyes roamed over to Jaimie, he was most certainly helpful, but she wasn't sure how helpful he would be at dress shopping. Which made her look around, were there tuxes here as well. She bet Fallon would probably be great help, but was a bit wary as Fallon was a little different these days.

Shaking her head she put a smile on her face and headed over to say hi to Jaimie before she made her way over to Fallon. Giving a wave to draw attention to herself as she walked over, she called softly, none to loud really, "Hey Jaimie. Prom shopping huh?"

Jaimie blinked as it dawned on him that there were, in fact, familiar faces among the throngs of dresses and suits, Lily and Bell among them, and he allowed a grin to spread across his face.

"Hey Lily, how goes? Any luck? And yeah I figured I'd come look around for a suit."

They seemed to have a fairly interesting spread of dresses, not that he was planning on trying any of -them- on, (not without some amusing dares on the line.) but it seemed like the girls should have their share of choices and not have to worry too much about the dreaded fear of matching someone's dress unintentionally.
PostPosted: Wed May 04, 2011 12:39 pm

Lily laughed shaking her head, "no, no luck. When it comes to this sort of thing. I'm hopeless. Shopping is not exactly a hobby of mine, but I am sure I will find something eventually, maybe."

Lily looked around wondered where the suits were, the had never been in the store before so she was sure, "Have you seen any suits? I mostly see dress, everywhere. There are too many to choose from and so many colors. I do not know how anyone does it."

Yes, Lily was a girlie girl and one that utterly failed at the concept of shopping for clothes. She had a weakness for a good shoe, but otherwise, she turned everything around.

Indeed, it was perhaps best that Lily chose not to approach Bell. She wasn't sure she'd have been able to separate the senshi from the human. And she knew, or assumed rather from Xavier's reaction, that Lily was with the BMC. What the BMC had done was sick, disgusting, and inhuman. For Xavier's sake she might have been able to issue some strained civility...

But that was neither here nor there. This was dress shopping. Dress shopping for prom. Although she might have been thumbing through the racks with a bit more ferocity than before.
