Personality: Despite her facades otherwise, Despoina is sensitive about her academic and linguistic shortcomings. Paradoxically though, she is silently and steadfastly proud of her abilities and diverse interests and is hopeful that she isn’t or won’t turn out to be a complete failure.
To the memory of her closest friends she remains loyal and she is an obedient and somewhat respectful daughter and mistress, though she does break minor rules. She is talkative and even crazy around her close friends but shy around unfamiliar, un-lively people.

Shapeshifting: Her specific fairy-type allows her to shift into any form she can imagine though if she shifts into the same appearance of that animal
(e.g. If the first time she transforms into a horse it’s a dark brown colored stallion (adult male) with a black mane and tail, she will always look be a dark brown male with black hair in a horse form. If she were to be a unicorn though, she could be black filly (female child) with black hair and a black horn.) Note she could shift genders and ages, regardless of her actual age. (Her coat will always be darkish or tan-colored.)
In this form she retains the ability to talk, though she can also make the sounds of the animal. She can stay in any form she likes as long as she like, but shifting itself takes a lot of energy. (~60% for one shift.)
(At this level she can shift into the form of the animal and have their traits, though not their strengths; e.g. she’d be able to run like a horse, but wouldn’t have the endurance or strength of one.)
Gleaning Energy: She can eat and drink normal food, but she can also drink blood and eat marrow for energy/ “mana”. The most effective way of gleaning energy though, is bathing/swimming in liquid energy. The gleaned energy is stored within the skin.
Natural Energy: In near-death situations her body will drain energy from anything touching or within a yard from her, including enemies if they happen to be so close. Anything out of that area will not be affected. This is uncontrollable and she will recover as usual after the battle.. (At this point she would appear either completely unconscious or only barely conscious.)
Gift of Appearances: With the help of rituals/ other fancy preparations and spells, she can take on the appearance of a form other than her usual transformations (e.g. Look like someone else). Lacking the gift of tongues though, she doesn’t sound like the person she’s impersonating anyways. It can’t be done too often. (As of this level she can only look like females and cannot alter height, weight or eye color.)
Regeneration: (From the "Ye Ole Fortune Teller" Quest) Small cuts, bruises and bumps heal as though they were nothing, minor damage (eg. gashes) heal slowly on their own as well.
Gift of Tongues: (NOTE: She doesn’t have this ability; I’m putting it in for reference) Naturally multilingual, musical, and uncanny persuasive and mimicking abilities.

Jetstream: Her ribbon becomes an elemental stream (i.e. stream of water) that she can manipulate as a weapon, or just as a way of getting around. This isn’t so much as a strong move/mushou as an idiosyncratic technique.
Redirection (Water): She takes an attack fired at her and redirects the attack elsewhere (e.g. at the attacker), conserving its original strength/ speed/stats. She acts as a channel for the element and energy to pass through, thus it requires no energy (nor does it give her any) on her part, only concentration. If preformed wrong or if she attempts to redirect more energy than she can handle (~whatever energy level she’s at then), the attack’s effect is amplified to twice as strong against her.

The elder daughter of the chief of their kind, Idon Aleda Korbin, Despoina was raised in the upper class of her city/village; in a world of wealth, though not of pampering. While she attended the standard “public” school for noble-rank children, she was tutored on the side by her father, Tyeuan Crysanthos (TIE-ee-oo-ghan kry-SAN-tho-ss) in other arts (hence her interest in calligraphy and vague understanding of gardening.) She also has a sister two years her younger, Atalesa. Despoina excelled early on in martial arts and weaponry, but not so much at academics. Furthermore, she was criticized but not condemned (due to birth-rank) by some for lacking the gift of tongues and showing more interest in non-shapeshifting magic. Despite these she lived a pretty uneventful life in her city/ village.
At 15 she was considered advanced in standard fighting techniques and set off to Riverrun to learn spellcasting and elemental magic. With her is her (temporary) guardian and instructor, and personal servant, Emery Yi.
