User Image Kairon made his way through the dense forest. It had been a long wile since he had entered the tight forest. The trees were so packed together that the sun wasn't able to shine through... not to mention there wasn't enough room to fly. He had been traveling through the forest for three days now. He looked around the dimly lit forest in search of something to eat. Since coming here he couldn't manage to catch anything to eat.

Avatre was on the move, pausing only to curse her situation and grumble a bit. She and Kashet had decided to go off on their own for a bit, pursue their own interests and all that, and gain some much needed alone time. It wasn't that the two weren't good friends, but every once in awhile you needed solitude.

She was beginning to wish she'd gone out into the desert rather than this stupid forest. Deities, this was a lot like where her "Aunt" Sitara had met her "Uncle" Dakari. She'd only met the couple briefly, since her adopted father didn't much get along with his sister, and the story of her aunt and uncle meeting hadn't made much sense. What did Sitara mean, she couldn't fly off? Avatre thought maybe she'd misunderstood the story, but now she got it only too well.

She muttered a silent curse under her breath, tucking her magenta and purple wings closer to her body to prevent damage. This place was just so confining! Screw living around here, she just wanted to find her way out! The only reason the plains-loving Daeva hadn't tried to claw her way to the surface already was from experience living in forests, and at least there wasn't an annoying set of sisters to pester her.

Trying to keep that firmly in mind, Avatre paused in hopes of forcing herself to relax. She didn't want to freak out and lose control of her flames; a forest fire was how her "parents" had actually met, and the last thing she wanted was to find herself in a repeat situation; Cicely and Tsuna were nice, but she had no clue how those two were together! Even Daevas weren't as bickering as Cicely was!

Finally Avatre had calmed down a bit to relax her muscles. That made her just away of how tightly wound she'd been, and she winced as shoulder and wings muscles protested their treatment. She needed to keep moving, otherwise they'd be cramping next!

And that was how, in a forest so packed with trees that visibility was scarce, her mind filled with preoccuations, Avatre rounded a few and found herself face-to-face with another Daeva.

Why on earth had he decided to come into this reached forest? When he had first come upon it he had thought he would be able to easily pass through it. It would seem he was wrong. His destination was on the other side of this forest. If he could get through he would once again be out in the open and able to maybe catch some real food. Lucky for him he knew his limits and that he was able to go for a few days with out food. Though now since he was going a few days with out he was rather on edge.

He stopped for a moment and sniffed the ground trying to get the sent of some animal that he could possibly track. If it was close enough he would be able to satisfy his hunger.... at least for a little wile. He let out a low growl when he didn't smell anything. That was until he lifted his head and locked eyes with a female Daeva.

A reflexive growl bubbled up in Avatre's throat and she reactived instinctively by trying to skip backwards. The growl turned into something of a snarl and exhasperated anger flashed in her bronze eyes. Not for the male, but for the tree at her rump. She very nearly turned and started trying to shred the thing, but luckily she managed to keep ahold of some of her dignity!

But it was tempting.....

To distract herself from the blasted tree, Avatre focused on the male in front of her. She had no fear of attack. Male Daevas might be the biggest breed of Modifox, rivaled in size only by Guardians, but in these close quarters size was definetly a disadvantage. And, despite their nasty reputation, Daevas were not out to fight everything they came across. More likely you'd be ignored as something with the same significance as a beetle.

He was a crimson red to her violet red, gold to her bronze. Black replaced purple. There was definetly more fancy patterns on him; actually, Avatre had no patterns to speak of. She wasn't quite sure what to make of the black things on his wings, and couldn't be sure that, in this cramped space, she was even seeing them properly anyway.

With all those dark, rich colors, his eyes, the color of new growth, stood out with blazing intensity.

Avatare managed to stop herself from blurting out that embarassing 'who-are-you' question; she probably looked enough like a prat for snarling at a tree, for crying out loud. Actually, rather than say anything at all, she wanted to get the male's reaction to her; it seemed as if she'd taken him by surprise as well. Bronze eyes narrowed and flames of the same color sparked briefly at her paws, then vanished before she set anything on fire.

The female had caught him by surprise. He wasn't expecting another Daeva to be anywhere near him or here for that mater. Though it would seem he had frightened her more. He watched as she stumbled back. She seemed to be in a rather foul mood. Why he had no idea but he wasn't about to make it worse... he also didn't feel like taking the time to fight her or argue... considering he hadn't eaton in a wile.

He did in fact take the time to examen her though. Her colors were interesting and he had to admit the purple in her hair and wings was what drew his attention. It was then that he noticed the look in her eyes and the flames around her paws. He too had turned up the heat on his flames just enough to show them off. He closed his eyes as he turned to the side so he would be able to pass her.
"Relax... I will not attack you..." He said in a deep calm voice.

Nonhostile. Avatre hadn't realized she'd been holding herself a bit tense until her wings dropped down an inch to rest upon her back once more.

"Our surroundings are more to my benefit, should that have been your intention," she replied, with a casual elegance that showed her lack of concern with a threat without it being a snub to the male. She found herself listening to the tones of their voices, and trying to classify them. The male was perhaps a baritone? Avatre knew she herself was more tenor than soprano and was privately glad for it; high-pitch voices grated on her sensitive ears.

Now that she had a moment to organize herself she was better able to shift her body to a more desirable position, one that was out of the way enough for the male to pass her by if he chose but clear enough that she could surge away if need. Just because the male said he wasn't going to attack was no reason to be careless, after all.

"Do you...er, live here," Avatre asked, trying for a sense of delicate tact that Daevas generally weren't known for, though the distainful lifting of her eyebrows gave away her thoughts; any Daeva that lived in this forest had to be either grounded or just dumb and naive of a world beyond these trees.

Kairon wasn't at all concerned with her presence. She may have a benefit for the time being but he had no intention of attacking her. He could already feel his body getting weak from lack of hunger and besides... he wasn't about to engage into a useless battle that would lead no where. He wasn't the one to just spring into attack like others of his kind... and he could tell just by her actions that she didn't seem all that willing to fight.

"It wouldn't have..." Was his simple reply to her comment about his intention to attack. He shifted his wings and extinguished his flames as he made his way past her. "I do not engage into useless fights that lead no where." Which was in fact true. The only time he would ever fight would be if his life was in danger, over food, or a female if he was in the mood. Right now he was just annoyed that he couldn't find something to eat. Hardly the reason to engage into a battle with a random Daeva who happened to show up.

"Of course not..." Was his answer to her question. "Only a fool would love in such a place as this." He closed his eyes. "It's hardly livable... what Deity had it in their right mind to create a place such as this..." He said annoyed as he looked at the tight trees around him. "Ridiculous..." He said with distaste toward the forest.

Avatre turned her head to the side and looked off into the forest. Not that she could see very far. "My.....," she paused. Even though she'd been raised by Cicely and Tsuna she never felt comfortable calling them parents. She didn't bother starting to try now.

"This couple that raised me, the male would probably love an area like this and he's a Daeva. His mate calls him Woodland King, though I'm pretty sure she means it in an.....slightly endearing way," she added the last sentence on in more of a reminiscent way that meaning to giving out information. The lack of sarcasm in her voice either hinted that she had a brilliant poker face, or had grown up with some very odd folks.

Avatre figured the forest had to be a young one. Trees just didn't grow this clustered in old forests, where every little scrap of sunlight was fought over and a tree just a wingspan shorter could end up dead.

Now she looked back at the male, really looked, and raised an eyebrow. "You alright? You look like you're gonna collapse at any moment." He had the look of someone pushing themselves to some kind of limit.

He stopped and looked back at her. She was about to say something but had stopped. Ether she had forgotten what she was going to say or didn't really want to say it. He was rather surprised.... He had expected her to keep walking once he was out of her way... but that wasn't the case. In his own way he was glad. He hadn't talked to another Daeva in a long time.

"I see... I don't know why." He looked away. "This place is enough to drive even a Phim away..." His tail flicked in annoyance and his ears twitched back as some low hanging leaves hit them. He tell that by the way she talked and the ones who raised her that she had been adopted. She didn't seem to fond of them ether... then again he had no room to talk. He didn't think to highly of his own parents... considering he was abandoned and left to fend for himself.

"Hm?" His left ear went up as she asked a question. "I have not eaton in a few days." He moved his eyes back to the path he was walking. "Catching vermin in the forest is proving... rather troublesome..." There was an edge in his voice obviously telling her that he was having a hard time. He had used the word vermin to describe the small quick animals that he was unable to catch. They always seemed to scramble into smaller spaces and areas that he couldn't get too.

Avatre considered her response.

For the most part she had grown up in a forest, though not quite as suffocating as this one. She'd actually been doing a bit better hunting here than she had in her old home, though there was no way in heck she would ever fess up to it; her determination to hate this forest was absolute.

She could certainly guess what the male's problem was. Daevas on a whole were such large creatures that they tended to avoid small meat like rabbits, squirrels, and other ground-bound rodents or reptiles. This place was certainly a terrible choice for a beginner trying to self-learn such a skill. Avatre herself certainly favored the strike-from-above tactic.

And perhaps another part of Avatre's advantage here was that she had grown up with siblings, and the male most likely hadn't. Forest ambush was a special skill she possessed and kept secret, mostly to gain an edge.

So she was assuming this male was either trying to employ chasing strategies for bigger prey that didn't work on small game, or he was terrible at blending in with the forest. Or maybe he'd just had a bad string of luck, for all she knew.

Avatre cleared her throat. "I could offer some...assistance," she said delicately, trying her hardest not to make it sound like she thought this male was an inept hunter in general, or that he even required her help.

Facing the way he had been intending on going Kairon couldn't help but feel her words meant things she did not intend for them to mean. The way she spoke he knew she didn't mean any harm, but that didn't stop him from thinking them. The thought of anyone thinking him unable to hunt was enough to annoy him even further. It seemed to be stacking onto him in blocks ever since he entered this forest.

"I do not require your assistance." He tried to say it as politely as possible but lets face it... after a few days of food his mood was not at its best. Before he could say anything further however his stomach let out a rather fierce growl. He paused for a moment thinking it over. He knew that without help he wouldn't get food and she was offering to help. "Perhaps... it would be best to travel together after all..."

He wasn't good at apologies or admitting he was wrong. He had always done things on his own that whenever he needed help with anything he thought himself weak. He would rather try to do things himself then ask for help.

Avatre nodded, and then cautiously moved forward. She didn't exactly stand by the male's side, giving the potential for hostility if he didn't like sharing personal space, but she was close enough that they could be considered a unit of some kind.

She wasn't quite prepared for the male's presence. Oh sure, she'd been around a male Daeva before. But Kashet was such a lazy lounge lizard and so obviously uninterested in most things that he almost didn't count. This guy.....

Like most Daevas, Avatre was attracted to and respected power. Didn't hurt that he was a looker. So what, this was a crush? Ugh, the very thought of her getting a crush made her just want to curl up and die in the Deities-forsaken forest!

Trying to forstall the moment where she made a complete and total fool of herself, Avatre tried for a tiny bit of simple conversation. "If we're going travel together, for however long we decide upon, I should like to know the name of who I'm traveling with," she stated. "I am Avatre."

He glanced over at the female waiting to see what she would say. He didn't normally ask for help from anyone but something told him that this female could bennifet him. She looked strong and he had to admit she wasn't bad looking. Though he had seen vary little female Daevas this one by far was more interesting to him. She was cautious of him but yet seemed interested. Or so he thought.

When she seemed interested in traveling together they started out. He found it amusing that she was keeping a safe once she had agreed to travel with him. He wouldn't really turn on her unless she gave him a reason too... but she didn't know that. He couldn't help a chuckle.
"Kairon..." He glanced over at her. "My name is Kairon... and what brought you to this..." He made an annoyed face. "Forest Avatre...?"
PostPosted: Sun May 22, 2011 9:28 pm

Avatre shook her head and made an annoyed expression so identical to Kairon's that it was a good thing no one else was around. They couldn't tell they were making the same expressions, but any other fox would snort in amusement. Possibly the stupiest thing in the world to do was laugh at an irritated Daeva, and there were two of them currently present...

"I wouldn't say anything brought me here," she replied. "I live in the desert mostly, and travel with another Daeva. We need the occasional break and a bit of solitude. I grew up in a forest, so I didn't think it would be so bad to visit one for a bit," she said, trailing off at the end and giving a scorching glare to the swaying treetops. The trees seemed unimpressed by her anger.

Avatre glanced to the side at the male. Kairon, she reminded herself. "And you? You don't really seem to be enjoying yourself in here any more than I am."

"I see..." He glanced over at her. "I'm not..." He glanced away as an answer to her question about him enjoying himself. Which of course he was not. Come to think of it he really couldn't remember why he came this way. "I cant remember..." He glanced back at her. "I've been in this forest for so long I have no idea why I decided to come this way..." He pushed by a group of branches. "I just know im looking for a way out..." He stopped when his stomach growled. "And food..."
