What exactly are you supposed to do when you reach the end of the world?
Bacarudo could only wonder as he sat at the edge of a canyon so vast that the opposite side--if one even existed--could not be seen even by eyes as sharp as his. A pale, honey-touched gaze lowering to gaze into the steep gorge below which descended into the grasp of dark shadows.
If there were monsters in this world, surely this was the place they originated from. For it sure seemed as if the world fell away at the edge of this cliff. If he jumped, would he find a malevolent place full of demons and evil gods?
In that case it could be just the place for me. The words held a matter-of-fact like quality that was neither tainted by sorrow nor filled with self-pity. Cruelty could only ever beget more cruelty. Even if he knew this, Baca couldn't find the desire to change. Sighing dryly as the wind ruffled his fur and washed away his thoughts, leaving the squat form empty and surprisingly at ease.
Who knew the mouth of hell would be so peaceful?

Approaching a cliff, a large lion stopped just short of the edge. Dual-colored eyes peered down into the dark abyss just below his paws and pondered exactly how far down it went. Unfortunately, it did not seem that he would get the chance to explore this wonder as the side was very sheer and was certain that there was no good foothold along the way. No matter. It was a simple thought, but it was enough to motivate the scale backed lion to press on.
Turning, he traveled alongside the edge of the canyon. With every step, it appeared as if the thought of miss-stepping and falling off the side did not even cross the male's mind. The only thing running through Bongani's mind at this moment, was finding a territory he could call his own, away from others that may or may not care for his presence. This had always been his quest. Sure it was odd for a lion to not be a part of a pride or wish to be a part of one, but this one had always been acquainted with unsettledness when he was with other. It was understandable, many do not wish to be around things they did not understand. What was there to understand about a lion with scales, let alone, the half child of a god? So, he deemed himself destined to be a wanderer until he found that one special place just for himself. Hopefully, he would become more accepted before then, but Bongani was open for whatever life has planned for him in the end.

Oh the irony.
Out of the corner of his eye, Bacarudo caught the glimpse of a strange looking creature. Strange enough to make him double-take, brows lifting with surprise. Speaking of demons and monsters, there seemed to be one strolling right towards him, casual as could be. Maybe it was the devil come to take him home, finally.
Adjusting himself to face the approaching form, an observant gaze took in every stride measuringly. By the build, it was easy enough to make out that it was lionesque in shape, that thick blue mane giving away his gender rather loudly. Thanks to the powers that be for small favors, he didn't much feel like dealing with some cloak and dagger female at the moment... or ever.
Eyes drifted on down the length of the adjacent form, or as much as he could see of it from this angle, puzzled by the stone gray scales that seemed to blanket the outward surface like an armadillo. Thinking to himself with a bland acceptance for whatever fate might lay in store, Do your worst devil.. I'm not afraid.

Little did Bongani know, he was being watched by another, another who viewed him as some sort of creature from the underworld. If the large lion did, he would have stopped and moved in a different direction altogether, not wanting to scare or haunt the other in any way. So, he continued to draw nearer to the other lion up ahead, just hoping to find a place to rest, at least for awhile.
Spotting movement was when he finally took notice that he wasn't alone on this cliff side. Stopping briefly, his duel-colored eyes gazed toward the cause of the movement that caught his attention. The form was rather low to the ground, but still a familiar shape of a lion, male by the mass. Whether male or female, the company would be welcomed either way. Also, it did not seem that the male was bothered by his presence, so he saw no trouble in proceeding forward.
Not sensing any possible hostility, he continued forward toward the squat figure up ahead. His tail flicked lightly, his large paws padding over the ground softly. When he finally got close enough, he bowed his head in greetings. He left the greeting open. If the other was social, he would extend one himself, if not, he would not be pressured to respond.

Bacarudo watched the other for several long moments. His gaze impassive, but equally as unintrusive. It neither asked who the creature was, nor what he wanted. Only observing. Waiting. For something unexpected. He'd find himself disappointed today when the stranger didn't bare his teeth or snarl or pick up a charge that clearly held the intention to end his miserable life.
No. For all intensive purposes he seemed a lost and ambling traveler in this enormous world. Much like Baca was. That was all he really needed to know, gaze flitting back to the deep canyon with no perceivable bottom. This stranger seemed of no immediate threat. Not that he wouldn't have welcomed such.
With no expectations for the stray, Bacaru proved neither displeased nor elated by the silent greeting that was offered to him as the lion stopped near his side. Strangely enough, he didn't sit or invite himself as company, but he did offer acknowledgement to a rogue that he didn't know. Did he feel obligated? Who knew.
Unfortunately, there was something about physical gestures that spoke deeper to Bacarudo than verbal ones. As much as he would have rather ignored the lost demon and waited for him to leave, he found he couldn't. Tilting a shaggy head back in the direction of the blue maned lion. Meeting those unearthly eyes without fear in a way that read as expecting. You wanted me to notice you.. now what do you want?

Bongani was further elated that the other male did not seem unnerved by is unnatural eyes or scales. Most seemed to become uncomfortable by the sight of them and that was when he would take his leave. This fact still did not stir much emotion from the large lion's demeanor though as he took in the other male's appearance now that he was closer.
Other than the seemingly shorter legs, there did not seem to be anything different or off about the male. Brown fur, mane and lighter brown markings. Just an ordinary male, unlike himself. Was it this that unknowingly drawn him to this other? He may never know, but that was not to say that it was not welcomed all the same.
His attention moved slowly to the cliff that the male was sitting at. There was slight curiosity as to why the male was intent in staring down it. When he had gazed down into the abyss, he saw nothing but an almost endless chasm and utter despair. It was this that he did not look down it again. His gaze did not stay to the cliff long, returning it to the male. Depression was a thought that came to mind when Bongani's eyes returned to the male, but that was not something for him to bring up, at least, not in this current time. Instead, he just posed an easy question. "Lovely day?"

Same as any other, Baca retorted gruffly, though not necessarily to be intentionally difficult. He'd never been much of a conversationalist and being caught staring into the chasm made him mildly self conscious. Well, okay, subconsciously self conscious. If such a thing was possible.
He liked to think he didn't give a s**t what the demon thought of him, but some small part of him knew he was lying. Who wanted to be caught staring death in the face? The last thing Bacarudo needed was for some stranger to take pity on him thinking he was some kind of basket case prepared to take his own life. Then again, maybe he wouldn't have to. Maybe the demon was here to take it for him.
Staring at the unusual figure a moment longer with an impatient expression a thick tone full of bitterness finally erupted from his throat. How long did he plan to wait out the inevitable with mindless small talk anyway? Well?! You here to kill me or what? I'll give you fair warning now. Even if I beckoned you here... I won't go down easy. Only thing I know how to do is fight.

"I guess you are right." Bongani replied, dual colored eyes looking up to the sky momentarily. His glance would always seem to return to the cliff beside him and down the drop, where the others gaze seemed to be constantly as well. His attention would never stay long as it soon returned to the lion in front of him. It moved yet again to scratch a small tick, a small scraping sounding as his claws brushed over the scales of his back, but once it was gone, he settled again.
When the other male seemed to stare at him, he tilted his head lightly, curious of what was running through his head. What he said next came as a surprise to him, causing his normally emotionless eyes to widen. "Excuse me?" He questioned lightly, "why would I want to kill you? You have done no wrong to me."

You are kidding, right? He had to ask even if the aghast lion at his side didn't appear to be the joking sort. For a demon he didn't seem to be very.. impish in any manner if the truth be told, but who was Bacarudo to decide how beings of a hellish underworld should act? Still, the abrupt reaction caused a jaded stare to roll over the stranger for a second time. He was more observant now, not of the physical aspects of his new acquaintance but rather his rather bizarre demeanor. After a moment Baca answered his own question with a tone that verged on disappointment. Doesn't seem like you are.
Thinking himself capable of conjuring demons with his thoughts did seem a rather far-fetched idea, but how else could such an ironic introduction be explained? The male--drizzled in markings that faintly resembled sand being poured over a mound of mud--could think of nothing. Gathering his short, muscular frame to stand and edge backwards a few feet from the abyss. Murmuring dryly, You have odd timing. Unnatural timing.
Baca corrected himself, finding his eyes had strayed again to the canyon, though his gaze could no longer reach the blackness now that he had stepped away. With the spell now broken, he could focus more intently upon the other. So just why are you here?

Normally, Bongani was quite adept at answering questions, but the one the other male had just asked seemed to lack an answer. The large male was still trying to understand why the other would seem to think he was there to kill him. It was at that, that a thought came to him. His large size, dual-colored, pupiless eyes, scales and wing marks on his back... it was then he remembered that most often, he was seen as a demon. It was part of why he wandered and did not have a home of his own. Returning his thoughts to the earth colored male, the sound of disappointment in his voice made him feel a bit... regretful. "I am sorry." He replied softly.
He watched as the other finally got up and backed away from the cliff's edge. His ears flicked at the sound of the male's voice saying something, but couldn't quite pick up what it was. He had noticed that the male did seem intent on looking down over the edge and, in fact, welcomed death. He couldn't help but wonder why. The thought passed for the moment when the question of why he was here was brought up. "I am a wanderer, so this was my path on my way to a new area to possibly find land for myself."
