She surfaced from the depths of a great lake as she shook herself free of excess water. Letting loose a pleased sigh, she gently worked her muscles in all areas of her body, especially that of her wings. Her wings made her heavier in the water, causing her to sink faster, but thanks to her Kelpi blood she could breathe underwater, though she wasn't as skilled a swimmer. As for her Kalona side, it simply made her crave meat, and she soothed this urge with a constant hunt for rabbits and big fish--she generally preferred the waters, and was always found near one of the lakes or ponds. Shaking her bright hair loose of being stuck to her face, she smiled slightly in humor as she chuckled in amusement.
She basked in the late afternoon sun, enjoying the warmth as well as her solitude. It was a rare day that she didn't have to worry about other predators, or intruding on their territories by accident, or what-have-you troubles. Today was surely a peaceful day, and she fervently hoped she wouldn't happen upon any dangerous incident... she'd had enough of those, but she'd survived. It was her Kalona blood that called for the violence, for her to bathe and bask in blood... but as a result, she'd lost an eye. So, she was blind in one eye... but that was fine. She didn't really need her eyes to see, but if she wasn't careful, she could be caught off guard. Pelagia arranged herself carefully on the lake's shore, so that the sands could scratch across her scales and make them glow.

A dark stallion made his way along the edge of the water. He paused to look at his reflection in the water. He knew he was different. He wondered if there were other's out there who were different like himself. He frowned at his reflection. He'd only met Apple Blossom so far. At least she accepted what he was. He started back along the water his head down looking at the ground that he walked on. He was lost in his own thoughts not realizing he was coming upon another.

It was with a start that Pelagia moved out of the way before she was trampled. She was lucky she was in tune with all of her other senses, otherwise she'd have been killed--and probably by accident at that, when she took a good look with her good eye to see one of the most... interesting... stallions she'd ever encountered, and she hadn't met many. She cleared her throat, and raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me, sir, but I rather think it's not quite polite to trample someone. Please do watch where you walk next time." She tried her best to keep her sarcasm under control but she couldn't help it.
He had ruined her dozing and her peaceful mode with nearly tripping over her. She was resting in the sand! She couldn't have been missed, but of course, judging from where the Kirin was looking, he had been watching the water, not where he was walking. She sighed to herself and schooled her expression, opting for politeness and waiting to see if she got any reaction. Hopefully the stallion noticed what he'd done.

He backed up stuttering. "I... I... I'm sorry." He hung his head down. "I.. I.. I wasn't paying attention." He lifted his eyes looking at the other before him. He started backing away slowly. "Wh.. Wh... What are you?" He hadn't seen anything like this before. He knew he was odd to look at but this well what was it. In all oddities this was the oddest thing he had ever seen. He looked around nervously. Was there more? Were they going to rush up and attack him?

She wasn't impressed. Not at all. The stallion was far more skittish than she expected, and she hadn't yet even attacked him. She tilted her head and said slowly but calmly, "Apology accepted. What I am should be fairly obvious, good sir. I am a hybrid, a mare born of the union between a Kalona and a Kelpi." She folded her wings around her now so that she appeared less intimidating, but while not impressed, she was more amused. She did not hunt prey bigger than her, and seeing as the male was just slightly bigger than her, she didn't fancy tackling him down just for a bit of meat--especially since she had just fed.

He stared at her. "A.. A.. A what?" He didn't even know what he was. He twitched his ears. Now he wished he had not run away from others then maybe he would know what this female was talking about. "Sorry. Could y..y..you explain? I've never been around anybody." He peered at the other nervously. Was this what Apple Blossom would say was a bad one.

She tilted her head curiously, reserving breath for the time being. Why was the stallion so frightened? She'd done nothing more than speak to him, and he jumped like a terrified rabbit. He seemed almost rather paranoid, but well, she herself had to learn the hard way of life, especially as she was a half-breed, and unaccepted anywhere that she knew of. "Well, let us begin properly, good sir," she said, hoping that if she spoke calmly and soothingly the male would calm down. "I am Pelagia. I can't really explain ... what it is you ask for, unless you give me a more... detailed... question." She was mentally fighting her Kalona instincts that screamed at her to simply kill this stallion, who, by behavior and appearances, was prey--but as far as she could tell, he was a Kirin. A sacred creature, cousins to the Unicorns, and certainly related to the Angenis. She mentally shook her head. She'd rather not risk it, much as the tasting and bathing in the blood of a Kirin would give her great power.

He let out a sigh then shook his head getting his nerves about him. "What is a Kalona and a Kelpi? And what am I?" He looks at the mare confusion in his eyes. "I've not been around others. I do not know what you speak of."
