Well I wont confirm or deny this news but I have found some stuff out you may find interesting.

While it does not seem that having another character would be possible, looking through the files of the DOA4 disc, dont ask, it would seem that some spots were left open for programming code. One spot was for Alpha-152 character to be playable, but that was taken out cause she is broken, meaning too hard to play against, cuz she would always win.

Then there is another spot that team ninja was working on a create a random. What this would mean is that they had a random selection which you could set up to use say 3 characters, so that if you picked that random spot, you would get 1 of 3 characters you designated, not 1 of 22, but they (team ninja) ran into some probs (time issues) and did not finish it.

Also, many of the characters have extra spots for some up to 9 costumes, that are not used, so I believe these are the "hooks" for either unfinished costumes, or places for downloadable content.

Besides, those, there is some info on the characters. There may be 1 female with 7 outfit places or possibly 2 male characters with 3 or 4 costumes.

Itagaki was on a Korean show talking about a character that uses Tae-kwon-do and that character being finished. This seems to be true, as more than one source has confirmed this for me, but I still look at it with major skepticism, due to all of the time constraints and pressure Team Ninja is under. Only time will tell.
