A Wandering Esper

Beloved Stargazer

It was late, very late - the last clock Fluorite had passed by had announced that it was past 3 am - but she had gotten the last of the orbs she needed. She'd almost been off this week's quota by a few. How careless, but... the tiny lieutenant had much to think about, especially after her encounter with General Serandite and the accidental energy-draining of her brother.

She still had yet to decide what to truly do about that, if anything, though there was still a little voice in the back of her mind, a tempting one, which kept saying just how easier it would be if Matty was by her side... As he had always meant to be. Matthew could help her free the world. No secrets. No fear from youma and other agents to accidentally drain him.

Ashley and Matthew had always been a team, and Fluorite couldn't help but feel lost without her brother.

With the last of her precious energy tucked in safely into her sash, Fluorite allowed herself a break, before going to deliver it all to her captain. She sat on top of a roof, pointedly trying not to look down and letting her mind wander.

She kind of wanted something to drink, but were there any vending machines nearby ? Hm.

Selenite should have been in bed, fast asleep. It was certainly late enough, and the bluenette preferred to keep her patrols closer to sane hours; it made it less likely for her to fall asleep in class, for one thing. Tonight, however, her roommate had taken entirely too long to settle into the rhythms of deep sleep...which was why the Lieutenant now found herself out trying to meet her quota for energy collection at this late hour. Oh, sure, she could have put it off until tomorrow night, but Selenite recognized enough of her own tendency towards laziness that she knew exactly where that kind of thinking would end.

It was with some surprise that she detected another Negaverse energy signature nearby; who else was out at this ungodly hour of night? Curious, the bluenette took to the rooftops, jumping easily over the small gaps between the buildings in this area. "Hello," she called out once the other had gotten into visible range; it was certainly no one she recognized, though that meant little.

Fluorite looked up when she heard another female voice - she hadn't truly been keeping tabs of auras, but she'd felt nothing threatening come up on her mental map - and sure enough, there was another lieutenant here, with small blue orbs scattered in her neatly braided hair.

Man, that was pretty.

"Hi !" Fluorite called out, working herself back onto her feet. "What keeps you up this late ? I really thought I was the only one out..."

She hadn't even felt a senshi !

Selenite's cool blue gaze flicked over the other lieutenant quickly, taking in her appearance and overall attitude. She certainly seemed like she'd be competent enough, though why she was sitting around on a rooftop instead of working, the bluenette had no idea.

"Energy collection," she replied with a slight grimace. "Couldn't get out soon enough to go at my normal time." She paused, face smoothing back into careful disinterest. "You?"

"Oh, yeah, that happens." It had happened to her a few times. Parents staying up later than usually did made sneaking out much more difficult. "I got all of mine - im just waiting for my captain to show up so I can turn it all in and go home."

Indeed, there were quite a few little orbs tucked away in her sash.

"Your captain shows up to collect?" she asked curiously. She was usually the one making the trip to drop off the energy, not the other way around. "Who've you got?" Selenite might not know every Lieutenant in the Negaverse, but Captains were fewer, making them easier to keep track of and remember.

Making it likelier that she'd recognize the name of this girl's superior officer.

"Yeah." It hadn't occurred to her that it could be otherwise, since, well... She couldn't really teleport to turn her energy herself, didn't she ? Oh, that would be so handy.

"My captain is Scheelite. It's just much easier to catch him somewhere while he's doing his own patrol, especially when it gets this late..." He didn't have school to worry about afterward, like she did most of the time.

"Who's your captain, then ?" She asked in return.

"Oh," she replied, waving a blue gloved hand. "I suppose." She'd arranged to have a specific (well, a list of specific) meeting places that she rotated through in order to meet her General for dropoffs. Of course, he could always have simply teleported her to him, but neither one of them had seen any reason to disrupt a routine that worked.

"Zinkenite," Selenite replied simply, with a slight shrug of one shoulder. "Only he's a General now." The mention of Scheelite had caused her to bite her lip, hard. She'd heard of him outside the realm of Tartaros (hardly surprising!), but the only time she'd actually met the other officer had been...something the bluenette was trying very hard to forget.

"Oh, I've met him." Either Fluorite wasn't noticing what Selenite was working very hard not to say, or she was pretending not to. It was up in the air, really. "He really helped me out...."

Both time they had met, really, but especially the second one. After...

No, she didn't want to think about that, not tonight. She had enough on her mind already.

"I kind of wish I could teleport." She admitted. "It would make it easier..."

When she figured out the strain that came with it, she would likely reconsider. For now, she was oblivious.

Selenite was quietly thankful the other lieutenant hadn't asked about her reaction to Scheelite's name; awkward thing to have to explain, really. "He's...good about helping," she offered finally. It was true; Zinkenite really did believe in assisting his underlings, because it kept them all stronger and safer.

"Wouldn't that be grand?" the bluenette enthused. Clearly no one had told her about the drawbacks to teleportation either. "It'd make a lot of things easier." Ambushing senshi, running away from said senshi if the odds were bad, oh, the things being able to teleport would magically solve.

Right?

"It would !" She sighed. "Ah well." Couldn't have everything be easy from the start, couldn't they ?

A quick look at the street revealed that her captain still wasn't around yet. Thankfully Scheelite was hard to miss - if not impossible to miss, really.

"Hm... You want something to drink ? My treat."

Selenite looked momentarily as though she was about to decline. "That'd be great, actually," was what she said, flipping her gemmed braid over one shoulder.

"What's even open this late?" Starbucks wasn't, as she could attest from experience.

"That's a good question... I think there's a 24 cafe down this... street.... ?" Fluorite hadn't quite truly learned how to orient herself from rooftops, really. She scratched her head a bit before turning the other way. "No, this one ! Yeah."

Well, hadn't that been such a nice display of not even knowing that the hell ? She cleared her throat. "Or there's vending machines."

Oh, how she abused vending machines.

Selenite's eyes lit up at the mention of a cafe. "There's a 24 hour cafe in this part of town?" Cafes were far superior to vending machines, which was one reason the bluenette preferred to do her patrols earlier at night; not everything was closed, like now.

"We should, ah, probably power down if we go in," she offered after a moment looking down the indicated street. "Easier to pay, for one thing."

"Yeah, it's really big or known about, but I really like it." Less crowded late at night, for one - and most of the population, if there happened to be any, could care less was a teenager was up to this late.

"True that." But they'd better jump off first - which Fluorite did, expecting Selenite to follow her. She couldn't help but wonder if the glowy beads were part of her uniform, or part of her hair... They were nifty as hell, in the purple-haired teen's opinion.
