He was starting to feel like a regular of the late night coffee places, so instead he'd arranged to have the meeting at a little corner diner. The place didn't have the chain-name recognition of some places, but they had bottomless drinks, massive portions at low prices, and the most brain melting, delicious bacon cheeseburgers he'd had in years.

He knew exactly what he wanted to order, but he was still eying the menu, browsing the list of deserts which made him feel like he was getting fatter just reading them. Of course it didn't hurt that he wasn't afraid that he'd get a disproving "meat is murder" look these days, or that the large meal actually fit his budget better than coffee shop pastry.

There was a stack of print outs on the table beside him, highlighted and marked, and a small note book on top of that. Ideas and suggestions he'd brought along for both himself and for Lily Jacobs. Former "Basterds" member, current member of the BMC.

The BMC still gave him the creeps, just thinking about being branded made his skin crawl, but he wasn't planning on bringing anything more closely related to that than how he'd like his burger cooked once she got here. It was just rude to order before she had a chance to.

Lily walked into the little diner spotting Jaimie and giving him a wave. She wasn't sure if he noticed, but she headed over anyway. He and Xavier were the only two from the Basterds that were still willing to talk to her and neither realized how much it meant to her.

Really the smile she wore today was more real than any smile she had worn and weeks. "Hey Jaimie," she said smile still in place even though she still looked as though she hadn't been sleeping well, that over tired look, at least now she could walk in a straight line. She hoped it wasn't brought up in conversation, if she knew anything about make up she would have tried to hide it, but she didn't.

"Did you order yet," she said glancing at the menu her smile morphing into a frown for a moment. There was mostly things Lily rarely at on it, but there was salad and chicken burgers so she would survive. No way would she be eating a greasy burger slathered in just everything.

Her eyes wondered over to the print out and she smiled again, today she would start looking for a place to live during university. She did not thinking sharing a dorm was a very good idea and she did not know how crystal academy senshi did it.

"Nope, not yet." He noted. "I know what I want but I figured I'd wait for you." He put down the menu and shoved over the stack of print outs. "Here, brought these for you to look at too in case anything stood out."

"Have you eaten here before? They make fantastic fries." He suggested. "And any luck on your end finding a place? Man... it's too bad we can't just..." He paused, not sure how to phrase it subtly. "Pop back 'home' and back at the drop of a hat... but I guess with the way things go that would be -way- too easy huh?"
PostPosted: Wed May 04, 2011 9:10 am

"Oh," she said. She hadn't meant to keep him waiting, "let me pick really quick. Great fries, you say huh? Um they aren't to greasy are they?" She was rambling as she looked over the menu momentarily looking back to the print out that were shoved over to her.

"I haven't found anything just yet, but I am also not entirely sure what to look for. I am not sure if I should go it alone or look for a roommate, a roommate might make life easier though, you know with bills and cleaning and the like. Though I've just about got my parents convinced to pay for it all. The more normal I act the less worried they are. Else wise, I will end up working at my dad's office as a secretary to pay for it all."

She had been looking at the menu as she talked, but now she sat it down deciding on the chicken burger with mushrooms and swiss cheese. "Yes, it would make things to easy and we can't have than can we, only they get that sort of advantage."

She looked up to Jaimie, "Shall we order and then down to business."

"No more so than most french-fries." Jaimie shrugged. "I mean you're gonna get a certain degree of grease with anything that's dipped into boiling oil. "But they're not so oily that you could, say, lube your car with them." He explained, as the waitress headed back their direction to investigate.
"I'm gonna be working, so I think I'm going to look for a room mate. It'll make the bill paying a little easier. Dad's still mad at me."

As the Waitress paused by their table he gave her a polite smile and ordered his burger (with an side of the discussed fries) and an soda.

"Lil?" He asked, opening the door to her ordering.

Lily laughed shaking her head, "alright I get it," she responded smiling.

When the waitress came by she waited while Jaimie order than when it was her turn she order her chicken burger with fries, then gave Jaimie a look that said don't say it because after all her fuss she was going to try the fries anyway.

The waitress promised to be back with drinks and Lily reached out plucking up a print out. "Are they organized? You know, price, distance and the like."

Then she looked up totally forgetting she had forgot to ask Jaimie where he would be attending school. "I forgot to ask, but are you going to DCU."

"You'll see." Jaimie assured, referring to the fries. Mmm. Perfectly golden fried sticks of sliced potato with just a touch of salt and ready to be dunked in ketchup.

"They were organized at one point, I kind of accidentally sat on them." He admitted. He just didn't want to discuss his bad mood at the time he had sat on them. "I did highlight the stuff that looked particularly worth checking out though." He added, in defense of his chaotic organization.

"Yeah I'm planning on DCU, it's Affordable and their programs are pretty decent."
PostPosted: Wed May 04, 2011 1:29 pm

Lily leaved through the print-outs giving a small laugh as Jaimie noted that she had sat on them. She looked up when he said he was planning to go to DCU and smiled. "Well then maybe we will have some classes together, you know everyone has to take those general one. Even with my AP classes I still have a few."

She pushed a flyer toward Jaimie that looked interesting to her, but it wasn't highlighted. "Have you looked at this one. It seems nice and it very close to the university. Its a bit pricey, but not overly so."

She continued to leaf through the print-out, re-organizing and plucking ones that she liked for herself as she went through. She made sure to look over the ones that were highlighted and she wondered how she would ever pick. They did all seem nice.

"Uh... I don't remember." He admitted, honestly. There were so many in the pile some of them had begun to blur together, but he took another look. The name of the place sounded familiar, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.

"Yeah not a bad place. Is this one you wanted to run with or...?" He asked, just to make sure. He didn't want to snatch a lead out from under her, it wasn't as though there weren't others.

Lily picked up the paper again looking it over more carefully, but then she shook her head, laying it down and pointing to a bit of small print. No pets. "That won't work. As much as my parents love Eamon, he is my dog and I would like to take him with me. I am thinking of getting him a playmate too, so no, that place won't work. Also Eamon is a golden retriever, so he is not little. I have to find a place that allows large dogs."

She looked up to Jaimie, "Do you have any pets? If you don't this might be a great place for you?"

Drinks were placed on the table by the waitress with a simple your food will be out shortly. Lily thanked and went about trying to find print outs that allowed pets.

"I wouldn't mind a pet, but who has time for it these days? I just don't think I could do that to an animal, not with my current schedule, and not when it gets more complicated. I'm not sure I'd even do that to a potted plant." He admitted.

Besides which, what if something happened to him? They were soldiers after a form after all, and their war went on around them every single day. He didn't mean it as a slight to Lily, though it occurred to him belatedly that it could probably be seen that way, and he attempted to band-aid things by adding.

"Of course some of us probably aren't having our parents foot the bill."

Less of an ideal bandaid and more of an Jaimie-ism. Salvage by joking.

Lily actually wasn't at all offended, but instead nodded, "Yes that is true, but I could not leave him with my parents he is accustomed to sleeping with me and sitting with me when I study. He waits for me to return from patrols. He is a great comfort, he helps me a lot. I will remember that a pet or plant isn't a good house warming gift for you."

Lily gave him a playful glare and sipped on her drink before spouting, "That only a maybe. I might have to pay myself, not that I haven't got the savings to cover it for sometime. I do not think I have spent much of my allowance or gift monies in all of high school aside from Hindsight fees. I think I am addicted to that karaoke bar."

She looked back down to the print out and then one seemed to jump out at her. It was a three bedroom townhouse, for rent by owners, pets were okay and it was close to the university. At the bottom it said college students welcome. It even had a backyard.

"This one is amazing. I would need two roommates, but I think I'd be able to handle finding them. I am surprised how many senshi I know now and I bet there are a few who could use free room and board."

Jaimie leaned forward for an look, scanning the sheet quickly as he took a sip of his drink.

"Hell, for someplace that they didn't have to worry about getting busted for getting home late, they'd probably split rent three ways. It would be cheaper for everyone."

That and maybe he was getting a little stingy but he didn't see handing out free rent to people at the moment.

"It's weird right? I mean when this all started we thought there were... pft. Five." He offered. Man he felt old saying that. "Maybe a couple more but sure as hell not many. Then things went nuts...." He carefully avoided saying the "S" word himself. They were, after all, in public.
PostPosted: Sat May 07, 2011 7:40 pm

"Do you think it should be split? That might be easier on my parents, but I am certain they would not mind. I mean I may not even have a roommate when I move out," she shrugged, "its so much to think about and university is coming up so soon. In the fall we will be college students."

When she really though on it, she bet they would buy her a house, but she was really tried not to complicate things. She seemed spoiled enough already without trying to convince them of that. Her older sister had only just moved out recently and her brother was still at home while he finished his residency, but she knew he was looking to buy a house. She thought about living with Xander, he knew he secret, but she had burdened him enough and he was 25. Knowing Xander he had a plan for his future, he always had.

Lily hadn't heard what Jaimie had said about them being many, no she had been thinking and then she spaced. Blinking slowly as she came back to earth she nodded knowing he had been talking and blushed slightly at her rude moment. Thankfully she was saved by the arrival of their food.

She thanked the waitress and then looked to Jaimie, "looks good doesn't it?"

"I would split it." Jaimie acknowledged. "We can't count on our parents forever, and it'll remind them not to take their living spaces for granted."

Weird actually being the one saying that, when he'd been able to take a great deal for granted for a long time. It was kinda strange. He meant it, but it still felt as though he'd been possessed by the spirit of someone passably responsible, as though he'd revert to being a trouble maker at any second.

When the food arrived, he thanked the waitress and rubbed his hands together with obvious pleasure, eyeing the currently open burger crowned with melted cheese, crispy strips of bacon, onion and condiments, and floating in a sea of golden fries.

"Looks fantastic." He sighed, his exclamation of pleasure to come accompanied by a loud snarl from his stomach as he reached for the ketchup (for the fries) and the salt (for the burger.)
