Breloom

User Image

Hey PWF! Masaru here bringing you the Pokemon of the Week! As a fighting gym leader, I have had to study many various fighting types worthy of placing on my team. And when push comes to shove, Breloom is always there to lend a hand! Dexter, tell us more about this little fungi.

"Breloom, the Mushoom Pokemon. Its short arms stretch when it throws punches. Its technique is equal to that of pro boxers."

Now I don't know about you, but that's impressive! Who thought this cute little guy could give us such power! Let's bring up some of his statistics.

Height: 3'11" / 1.2m
Weight: 86.4lbs / 39.2kg
EVs Earned: 2 Attack
National Dex: #286
Male/Female Ratio: 50/50
Egg Groups: Fairy & Plant

Resists
Water: *0.5
Electric: *0.5
Grass: *0.5
Ground: *0.5
Rock: *0.5
Dark: *0.5

Weaknesses
Fire: *2
Ice: *2
Poison: *2
Flying: *4
Psychic: *2

Base Stats
HP: 60
Attack: 130
Defense: 80
Special Attack: 60
Special Defense: 60
Speed: 70

Abilities:
Effect Spore: The opponent has a 10% chance to be Paralyzed, Sleeping, or Poisoned with physical contact.
Poison Heal: Gains HP every turn while poisoned.
Dream World - Technician: Moves with base power of 60 or less get a 50% boost.

You can see here that Breloom has some nice potential. Why don't we see what movesets we can make?

You may say that I'm a Dreamer, but I'm a Technician
Ability: Technician
EV Spread: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Nature: Adamant/Jolly
Item: Life Orb/Expert Belt
Moves:
- Spore
- Bullet Seed
- Mach Punch
- Low Sweep/Rock Tomb/Stone Edge

The newer Breloom set is arising! Bullet Seed with two hits has a 75 base power, easily able to outpower a Seed Bomb with another seed. Mach Punch is there for the priority. Low Sweep and Rock Tomb both get Technician boosts and lowers the opponent's speed, which is handy considering Breloom is easily outsped. Stone Edge is there for the brute powerhouse. Spore is always there. Enough said.

Breloom Pauwnch!
Ability: Poison Heal
EV Spread: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Nature: Adamant/Jolly
Item: Toxic Orb
Moves:
- Spore
- Seed Bomb
- Focus Punch
- Stone Edge

This Breloom is simple. Spore, then PAWNCH. If they have a resistance, use stones or seeds. Simple strategy that put Breloom into the OU tier for 4th Gen.

Oh wow, I didn't know it could learn Rock-type moves!

That should help against the flying-types a little...
