Belle trotted down a well worn and winding path through the trees, enjoying the filtered sunlight streaming down through the trees. She was clutching a stout branch between her teeth and scanning the forest to either side with a nervous eye. She saw no sign of the monsters her mother had warned her so voraciously of, but she didn't want to be taken by surprise. She was in awe of the sheer vastness of the world around her. It was also a little intimidating, she wished her mother was here with her now. Thoughts of Jessamine made her stomach turn with guilt and she glanced back in the direction she had come, momentarily overcome with the urge to return to the safety and familiarity of her home. If her mother knew of Belle's betrayal she would be devastated. And angry, she must never find out. But the world was so interesting, and the den so lonely and boring. Belle loved her mother dearly and disliked deceiving her but she hated being cooped up there with only Jessamine and Cleaver for company. After weeks of being trapped inside she had been eager to venture out in the world once her mother left to hunt, regardless of any monsters that lurked outside. She would be brave, like her mother. Although now that she was alone outside, exploring didn't seem quite as much fun as she had thought it would be when she plotted her escape.

Today Gideon was on top of the world. He was a monster, his eyes glowed furiously dancing with eagerness. He was a KING! Yes a king, today he was a king. Yes He ruled the world today. His hooves danced beneath him as he went forth exploring. As per usual for him he thought nothing amiss with his day. The only thing that didn't seem right was that he had no subjects. Worse yet he had no confidant. He had no army! Oh No worse yet he had no leader, he couldn't get his hooves dirty. He just knew just knew he had to fix that. He kicked up his hooves, he knew he had a task for the day, no for the week, better yet for the month. Yes He'd do this, he'd start first with finding a confidant.
He was in a jungle, some far away expanse of unknown territory, he'd be an explorer. A butterfly drifted by and he squealed. It was likely endangered and he knew it. "Butterfly Butterfly!!" He called after the fluttering fellow "You shine so bright, Much better then the morning light! Come away with my to the shadows of the eve and light my night." A twig snapped a little ways off and he grinned and wheeled away from the butterfly toward the sound. "Raw Raw, I shall find thee" He skittered through the jungle eager for whatever lay ahead. His mother was blissfully napping near their mountain side when he had slipped away, he could remember where his siblings had disappeared to and his father was never his concern. He figured he loved his father right enough.
