Hooves the color of blood fell at a steady pace against the beaten down earthen path that wove it's way out of the trees. The stallion had become quite familiar with this path over the past months. At this point he could walk it with his eyes firmly shut without ever straying one way or the other. This path did, after all, lead to his favorite place on the entire mountain. In the entire range even. It lead to the hot springs.
For the white stallion these springs were very important. Not only did they let him clean off any dirt on his coat but they also had mental benefits. They gave him a chance to relax and more importantly were a bit of familiarity in a relatively foreign world. He had grown more used to the language and found it easier to understand these days than when he had first arrived. However, that did not mean he liked the strange words any better.
As he stepped out of the trees a chilly blast of mountain air that still stung of winter's breath attacked him. He cringed. He was not fond of the mountain cold. Ordinarily the pelt made from many white fox furs protected him against the chill but he had left it behind to keep it safe from the water. He knew it was safe back home, after all, Torao, knowing it was precious to Hisoka, would likely kill anything that tried to steal it with little remorse.
Hisoka sighed. Thinking about Torao was aggravating. The Tiger was important to Hisoka but he often found himself wishing that the other stallion wasn't so hot headed.
Feeling the stress beginning to build he hastened towards the warm water. This was meant to be a relaxing moment free of worries and stress. A practically daily ritual that he greatly enjoyed. And after bracing himself for what promised to be a dramatic temperature shift he stepped rather clumsily into one of the larger and slightly warmer pools. Again he let out a sigh, though this one was content. This was exactly what he needed right now. Peace and quiet.

It seemed that the mountain was growing unusually icy in this month. When the ice should be thawing it instead was growing thicker. Kore believed this to be a reflection of his emotions, of how he felt. The weather was doing something he could not. Harden and remain cold. Something was changing inside of him and his mistress wasn't fond of it at all. In fact, she was becoming quite the thorn in his side.
'It's cold outside, my dear Kore. Don't you think it's foolish to venture out where the wind can beat against your body?' she spoke in a sweet voice. The usual tone she had at first in order to coax the mutant into what she wanted. However, it wasn't always so soft and kind. Whenever he disobeyed there were always consequences. Kore flared his nostrils as he stepped outside of his cave. "I am only going to where the water is warm. Do you not want to be heated up on this cold day?" he asked but mistress remained silent and he knew that was a good sign.
The stallion walked onward, not thinking about much per say. He tried to usually keep his mind clear for he didn't want his 'mother' to get upset about his thoughts. It didn't take to long before he was at the springs and witnessed a stranger melting his tension away in the heat of it all. "We're here but there is another..." he spoke under his breathe. 'Then drive him off!' his mind screamed and he shook his head in disagreement. "That isn't fair. He was here first-" 'It doesn't matter! Get in the water, Kore before I make you get in myself.' Kore widened his eyes. She had always threatened that but wondered if that was truly possible. Slowly he stepped into the water, not saying anything to the stranger, remaining silent and gave occasional glares.

It did not take long for the hairs at the base of Hisoka's neck to stand on end. He could feel the other intruding on his would-have-been alone time. Years of training left him alert even when relaxing. He did his best to hide the irritation he felt behind a blank mask all the while watching the intruder in his peripheral vision.
Who the stranger may be didn't really concern the white stallion. What did concern him, however, was this creature looked as though it may be some sort of ogre or demon that happened to come in an equine form. Mildly superstitious about such things, Hisoka found himself on edge before the other ever hit the water. Not particularly wishing to evoke the wrath of an ogre Hisoka avoided eye contact and did what he could to mind his business. It became increasingly difficult to do when he could practically feel the wicked looks the beast was giving him.
Giving in to his aggravation he finally turned, eyes open, to face the blue creature directly. "There are other springs." He said politely as he nodded his head indicating a few smaller options near by. "If you have trouble with me...they are fine." He understood that ogres weren't especially reasonable or polite but he had done nothing to this ogre. He could see no reason for it to take offense to him at this time. The spring belonged to no one person. Hisoka had as much right to be at the spring as any ogre.

Kore's eye twitched slightly as the other male actually spoke to him. Of course, he hadn't been expecting such a brave action to come from the fluffy white male with 'dainty' red makings but here he was talking back. Not only that but this fearless male was suggesting that he leave. Inside his mistress beamed with happiness, knowing that this would get under the mutants skin. "Excuse me?" Kore grumbled out in his usual rough voice. He hardly ever spoke so it was usually slow and sounded rusty. 'Are you going to let him talk to you like that?' his mistress teased from the back of his mind. It wasn't particularly rude, what Hisoka said, but it wasn't very welcoming either. Though, what had Kore done to make Hisoka think he should be friendly?
"No," the beastly blue stallion snapped under his breath, to himself. Surely, it was a cold display for the stranger to soak in but Kore didn't care if he knew about Mistress. It's not like his opinion mattered anyway. Perhaps, somewhere deep inside Kore did seek the approval of others but to keep himself from getting hurt he pushed everybody away. He just wasn't one for getting close and personal. The only other he felt comfortable around was Hydro, who surprisingly enough managed to keep Mistress at bay. Maybe that's why his inner demon despised her so much, but that kinder side of him thrived off of her company.
"I wasn't having trouble with you until you made that sly suggestion," he huffed, nostrils flaring with irritation. "If they're so fine and dandy, why don't you go enjoy them? I'm quite comfortable right where I am," He snarled, baring his pointed teeth as a warning. If this male continued pushing his buttons he would snap, but not aim to harm. Though, unfortunate as it is he usually lashes out to much and harms those who bother him. He blames Mistress but she always swears that it's his own doing. He's not to sure what to believe.

If there was one thing that still astounded Hisoka it was the utter lack of manners the inhabitants of this land had. He had known many rude people back home. The worst of them were Kiyomi and Torao. One of them he lived with and had grown accustomed to over many years, the other was hopefully dead. However, he seemed to run in to creatures that acted just like those two every day here. It was enough to make anyone lose their calm really.
If he were asked about this current ogre, Hisoka would have to say that it was on a level above Torao but not in a good way. It made sense because of what it was but at the same time it was far too much for Hisoka to tolerate. "I am comfortable as well. I only made suggestion because of your looks. You seem unhappy with another around..." And Hisoka couldn't possibly imagine why a creature that didn't like company would purposefully join another.
His golden eyes narrowed fiercely, a warning of his own. He was not eager to do battle here and had an unspoken promise to stop coming home soaked in blood for the kirin's sake. The simpler solution would have been to move, however, Hisoka had a bit of a stubborn streak that any who know him would attest to. At this point there was no giving up and walking away for him. He simply didn't work like that.

The looks? Was he referring to the glares that Kore subconsciously made? Sure, he had given striking stares towards the male but over all, how was he suppose to appear kindly? His face was a mess of muscular features and harmful edges. Horns that could pierce and teeth that could tear. Even a smile from him could have appeared threatening, but he usually chose to keep his eyes narrow and his nose snarled simply because it warned people that he was dangerous. Sure, it also emitted his emotions but that was to protect others. Certainly not provoke them.
"My looks... there is nothing I can do about that. I assure you, it's much more appealing for me to give you those 'looks' than to grin your way... my attempt of a smile sends foal running for their mothers." He shook his head and tried to focus on the soothing sensation of warm water thawing out his chilled bones. "If you'd please... I'd like silence now. You'll upset her... if you keep rambling on like this...." he poorly explained to the stallion. Kore wasn't to right in the head. To him, his mistress was a real being, with a body and all but she was only shy. Always hiding in the shadows from him. Little did he know that she was literally inside of his skull, taunting him.

At the other's explanation Hisoka softened his gaze. Whether it was true or not was debatable but if it was willing to be peaceful than naturally Hisoka would be willing to be as well. Stubborn, yes, hot-headed, no. That was Torao's department. Even though relaxing seemed to be a good idea now that everything had suddenly cooled off between them Hisoka found himself unable to. He was stuck on something that the ogre had said.
'You'll upset her.'
What did that mean? "Her...?" Was there someone else around? Doing his best to be as quiet as possible he turned his head this way and that looking for some sign of another. He could see nothing. He strained his ears. He could near nothing but the wind over the water and through the trees and their own breathing. He took in a deep breath hoping to catch a scent on the wind, there was nothing.
Was it a spirit? He had once been able to speak to spirits in the dead of the night when he would hunt on his own. They had stopped when he had stopped playing the game. When he stopped spending nights on his own. They no longer had anything to say to him or he so believed. He eyed the blue monster suspiciously. It was an ogre so it was already closer to the mysterious than Hisoka ever was, it made sense that he might be able to hear spirits even in the day time. The real question then became, was this spirit like the ones he believed he knew once or was it benevolent?
Did he even want to know? Should he call for Torao? Just in case. Unsure of what action to take he simply stood in the warm water keeping a close watch on the ogre.

The monstrosity of a Kalona shut his eyes, soaking in the light bubbling sound of the springs and drifted off a bit. It was silent for little more than a moment when the pelted stallion mentioned his mistress. Kore's eyes shot open and he sharply turned his face towards the male. "You're not very good at following orders..." he grumbled out in his usual deep voice. The blue hued Soquili shifted his body ever so slightly, turning more towards the male with interested eyes. "My beloved. My caretaker... the lady who protected my foal self when nobody else would... That is her."
A cold chill ran down the mutants back at the mention and he could nearly feel her presence beginning to approach. A voice rang inside of his skull, cautious and defensive, "Why have you told him of me? I don't want the likes of 'him' knowing a single thing about me, Kore! You stupid boy, shut your mouth!" The white stallion probably wouldn't have noticed much of anything unless he picked up on the uncomfortable expression on Kore's face. The grand ogre only flinched and ducked his head at the scolding. "I... I'm sorry, Mistress..." he spoke out loud, embarrassed because he was sure Hisoka could have heard her outburst.

At that Hisoka pulled back his lips in a snarl. He was not there to follow orders especially not from some ill-tempered ogre. There had been a time and a place where following instructions was all he really ever did. That time has passed and that place had been left behind. He had been told to start living as he wanted to by Torao, which in some way was an order in and of itself but he tried not to let that fact bother him. After all, that one order freed him from listening to any others.
He would have told the ogre this much had things not taken a turn for the strange.
Slowly his expression shifted into uncertainty and worry. His protector? That was the 'her' he was referring to? That really put him on edge. If an ogre had a protector that could only mean that it was something much fiercer. He allowed his eyes to do another sweep of the area but he could still see nothing. Was she camouflaged somehow? Perhaps she just wasn't near by? Was he just bluffing to get Hisoka to leave? As much as the white stallion didn't want to admit it it was quite an effective way to frighten him off.
When the other suddenly flinched Hisoka found himself backing up towards the edge of the spring. And when he spoke as though this female were already present Hisoka's breath caught in his throat. He could still see nothing. Hear nothing. He suddenly found that he recognized these signs."T...Torao..." He said quietly exiting the water in a hurry. He was frightened as much as it pained him to admit, it was all too familiar.
"Torao." He called a little louder this time keeping his eyes on the ogre. "Trouble!" He called louder still. "Spirit. Ghost. Bad! Wrong!" He found that his words were beginning to fail him as much as his courage was.
