Ah, the scarecade. Where kids (and a surprising amount of adults) went to release stress, geek out, fulfill an inner competitive streak or even just have fun. Though, in a few cases, they were there with a purpose; perhaps to create a network, to make new friends, or to rub a nerd's face in the despair of loss. Coincidentally, Mac was there for one of the above reasons. He wanted to make a network, or to at least see what someone would give for the systems he had at his disposal.
Well, that's what his original goal was, anyway.
In the process of talking to some kids, Mac had gotten himself into a game he'd never really played before; the evil characters looked familiar to him and he continued to play if only to try and place where he had seen someone like this before. Sadly, the faces of acquaintences often escaped him, and eventually he just settled on trying to beat them out of spite for his memory as opposed to trying to remember who they were. The first was pretty easy, the second took him two or three tries...but the third? The third. He had a grudge against the third now.
"WOOO!" He cried out as the purple haired boss finally fell, pumping both arms into the air. "TAKE THAT, SUCKA~!"
==========================================
The weekend had hit and Jericho had all his work done, so it seemed as good of a time as any to take a well deserved break. Bits and pieces of the island adventure still plagued him now and then, so it was also good to do something to take his mind off of things. Arriving to the scarecade to blow off a little bit of silver, the dragon looked around at the variety of games all around. There were a few new things in here since he had last dropped by he noticed. Well, he might as well give some of those a shot.
Navigating through the room, he paused as he heard a rather familiar voice from somewhere nearby. Looking around, it took him a moment to spot the Reaper with the green hat and coat. The one Lizzy liked to cling to now and then.
Hovering by, he saw that Mac had just defeated the boss in the most difficult level of that particular game
"Hey, not bad," he commented with a grin, "how many tries did it take to beat ... her?"
He thought the boss was a female, but he could easily be wrong there.
==========================================
Arms still in the air, Mac turned towards the voice, recognizing the Dragon Boil almost instantly; not only did he make a deal with him, but he was also part of the little group on the island. Ugh, that island. He was doing his best to push it from his mind and, so far, it was working. Vaguely. Still, black eyes seemed to light up and a grin spread on his lips, and after a glance back at the game he dropped his arms to gesture vaguely to the machine.
"More than I'd care to admit man, b***h is hard. Infuriating, actually." Still, he was proud of himself. Having had his victory, he stepped aside, offering the game to Jericho, ignoring the low chittering whistles from the nesting Whip-Poor-Will bird perched on his hat, it's name an onomatopea for it's call. However, this particular bird seemed to be chirping in time to the music, like it was singing along.
"Wanna try?" Mac offered graciously, even offering a pumpkin seed between his index and middle finger, enough to pay for a single round.
==========================================
For a moment, Jericho watched the bird on Mac's hat, listening to it chirping along to the music. An amusing little critter it was. Shifting his attention back to the reaper, he grinned in return before glancing at the machine. It had been awhile since he played this particular game. That last boss really was a frustrating one to deal with.
"Ah sure why not. It's been awhile since I've tried it," he said before taking the seed to toss into the thing. He wasn't going to pass on a free play anyway. Grabbing onto the controls, he watched the screen intently, ready to take action. Once the battle began, he started to tap away furiously at the buttons, doing his best to take down the purple haired beast lady thing. After using up his heals, it looked as if he was going to make it, but then the boss landed a critical hit, defeating him on the spot.
"Aaaah damn," he cursed as the game over screen popped up, "Stupid computer got lucky there."
Oh well, he almost had it.
"Just hanging out here for the day?" he asked Mac while glancing back at him

With an amused hum, Mac released the seed to the Monster and stepped back, giving him room to play comfortably; like Jericho had before, the Reaper hovered and watched. It was actually pretty impressive to watch him tap away at the keys; Jericho really had played this game before, and clearly more than once.
"Bloody Mary that was close!" The green-clad Reaper even offered a little clap as a consolation prize, how nice of him! "I thought you had it there, bro. Next time, yeah?" With a shrug he pushed the bottom hems of his jacket up, just so he could put his hands into his pockets. "They look familiar, don't you think?" He said next, nodding to the screen and the game itself. And then, the question.
"Ah, you could say that. What about you? Looking to blow off some steam?" A brief pause and he chuckled. "So to speak."
==========================================
Straightening up again, Jericho looked back towards the game and shrugged a bit.
"Yeah they kinda do. Might have seen them on tv or something. Not really sure though," he said. While he had noticed the familiarity of the characters, he never really put a great deal of thought into them. It probably didn't matter a whole lot anyway. Once his eyes were done lingering on the screen, he looked back at Mac with a grin.
"More or less. Got my work done early so decided to treat myself you could say. And while gaming at home is nice and all, the scarecade just has that... atmosphere you can't get in your room," he said with a chuckle, "A nice way to kinda kick back I think."
Pausing there, he glanced around at a few of the games in the area and an idea struck him.
"Hey.. would you be up for a bit of one on one?" he asked with a smirk. There were plenty of competitive games around here so they may as well make use of their selection.
==========================================
"Mmm...That's true. Though, sometimes, I'd prefer my room. Especially when people don't bathe." Or were slime monsters or wendigos, but...who was he to judge. They weren't Demons. "You have good taste." He commented with a smile and a thumbs up, before his attention was drawn to the games around them. Oho, one-on-one? His smile twisted into a grin, and he fixed his hat like oh-so-many movie characters would when challenged. Well, except the ones that twisted the hat all the way around. Those were just stupid.
"You're on. Make bragging rights the stakes?" The black-eyed Reaper was looking around now, wondering which game would be their first match. "Unless you had something else in mind. And...Let's play that one, first." A hand outstretched to point at the nearest player-vs-player game; a regular, run-of-the-mill fighting game.
==========================================
"Yeah I hear ya," Jericho agreed. There were definitely times where he'd rather just stay in his room on his computer, DS, or his console. There were times for both places.
Smirking still, he nodded as the Reaper mentioned what the stakes were. Bragging rights were fine with him. He was looking more for fun rather than adding to his hoard at the moment anyway. As he looked on around, his gaze lingered on the one Mac pointed out. A basic fighting game was within his line of sight. It seemed as good of a game as any to kickstart their little competition.
"Alright. Game on," the dragon said while making his way to the machine and dropping in a seed for his side. It had been awhile since he really had the chance to play against someone else at the scarecade so this was quite nice indeed. He was sure Mac would be a worthy opponent as well.

Stakes were agreed to and both competitors made their way to the game. Mirroring Jericho, Mac dopped in a seed and the moment the game began, the Reaper was tapping away at the keys. The further the game progressed the more clear it was that he'd need a miracle to win, and that was about the time he stuck his tongue out of his mouth in concentration, button mashing with a purpose even harder. The Whip-poor-will on his head keened along with the victory music, even though the music was not for it's master.
"Well, damn. Round one goes to you then!" Mac pouted when he lost, taking a moment to stretch his fingers. "BUT! I'm not done yet. Two out of three?" His head leaned to nod at the machine they were still at; he was not going to give up!
==========================================
Once the game announced the start of the fight, Jericho was tapping away at the controls furiously, performing what combos and moves that he could. This first round was going pretty smoothly for him and before he knew it, the bird was chirping for his victory. With a grin on his face, it was easy to see that he was pleased with this win. Looking up from the screen towards Mac, he nodded and said, "Gotcha. Let's go!"
Thus round two started and again he was off fighting hard and pushing his little virtual character to the limit. There was a little more of a struggle here, but he managed to keep his momentum for the most part. Concentrating hard, he watched carefully, trying to time his attacks so that he'd keep with the upper hand. Before too long, he struck the final blow once again, securing his win for the second round.
"Haha, good game," the dragon said with a grin, "Again or do you want to go for another game?"
==========================================
"Alriiiight~" Mac rolled his shoulders and put more effort into the second round. He was NOT going to lose round two! No way! This round was much more competitive between the two, and that was clear to see; when the killing blow was landed, Mac threw his arms into the air.
"This game sucks!" Despite that, he was laughing. The bird on his hat was still chirping with the victory music, but like before it was ignored by it's Master. "Good game, I guess you deserved that." It was a very fake grudge to his tone, and he shook his head. "No way, this game likes you too much. Lets play..." Hmm. Not a fighting game, not the dancing ones, that one with the horses looked cool... Finally he stopped, and pointed at a shooter.
"That one." He decided, already making his way over.
==========================================
With a chuckle, Jericho gave the machine a light pat... and he could have sworn it gave a growl in return. Whether it or not it did, that didn't matter much. While Mac was looking around for a new game to play, he leaned against the machine while glancing around the scarecade as well. As the shooter was pointed out, the dragon soon stood up straight and headed on over towards the new game as well.
"Alright," he said while tossing in his seed and picking up the plastic gun. He glanced over at the reaper briefly, then turned back towards the screen, waiting for the level to begin. Once it started off, he raised his 'weapon' and started firing at the enemies and targets that popped onto the screen.
BOOM! Headshot to an elf. BAM! Sparkle faerie blasted. ATATATATA! Rainbow pony fart decimated.
At the level's end, he straightened up and grinned, waiting for their scores to tally. The dragon was rather pleased to see his higher than Mac's.
"Hehe, nice try and good game," He said.

If the machine growled, Mac didn't hear it. He was too busy trying to think of a way to win. It wasn't that he was a sore loser, it was just...he didn't like to lose that often! The next game was agreed on and the plastic guns taken off; he caught the Dragons gaze for but a moment, and then the round began.
Drunken Trees were torched, Glittering ornaments became grenades, and a couple gnomes were punted but, in the end...
"Jackdamnit! You're cheating!" Mac frowned at Jericho for all of two seconds before he chuckled...and then paused to frown again. Whip was singing the victory music again! Snorting, he flicked the underside to the brim on his hat, making the bird jump. "Traitor." He lifted the gun again, pointing at the screen.
"Two out of three!" He demanded, the grin back on his lips. "And I'm going to win this time!
The next round continued and, like last time, Mac lost. By a few points. "...Or not." The Reaper gloooomed, putting the plastic gun where it belonged and folding his arms across his chest.
"Alright, Gamer-Dragon. You are choosing the next one since my choices hate me."
==========================================
The next round started up and Jericho was determined to not let his guard down just because he was on a winning streak. He blasted away the targets with relative ease, though he didn't win by a whole lot this time around. If anything, that made it a little more satisfying. Obliterating an opponent, while it can be fun, wasn't something he liked all the time. It was good when a fight was put up. Taking in a breath, he smirked and chuckled lightly at Mac's demand.
"Alright alright," he started while looking around the room. Hm... there was the scario kart machines, but he could play that at home. There was that typing game thing, but that wouldn't really be good for competition. Whack-a-gnome was a little too kiddie too.
"How about... that?" he asked while pointing to the Dance-Dance-Repulsion machine. It wasn't a game he normally played, but it should be an interesting thing for them to do, "On hard mode."
==========================================
"D-D-R?" Mac mused, his brow lifting curiously. An odd game for the Dragon to choose...could he even play DDR with those wings of his? In the back of his mind, the Reaper had an inkling that in this particular game, he'd finally have the upper hand. That was likely why he nodded in agreement.
"Alright. Hard mode it is." Wandering over (thankfully it wasn't too busy in here, he recalled this game was popular), he pushed up the brim of his hat a bit and gave a low whistle, which apparently meant something to his bird as the creature flew off his head to perch on the top of the machine. For a moment or two it looked a lot smaller and a lot less grumpy, but the moment it nested again it looked as fluffy and grumpy as always.
. .. ... ....
"...How in the HUMAN WORLD do you keep winning?!" Mac gasped out once the first round was over, leaning back against the bars just behind the squares. "Two out of three." He demanded again despite the strain round one had caused. Apparently, this was his mantra for the day.
==========================================
Stepping onto the dance pad, Jericho tucked in his wings as much as he could. He didn't want to end up smacking Mac on accident with them and all. After picking out a song, he started stomping along to the arrows to the best of his ability. It wasn't easy, but he still somehow managed to come out on top.
Letting out a breath as they finished, he took a moment to catch it as he grinned at his reaper companion.
"The dice gods must be with me today," he said jokingly before nodding.
"Alright. Let's do this," he said as the next song started up. The dragon did the best he could, but he had a few missteps here and there, throwing off his timing. In the end, his winning streak finally came to an end.
"Heh, You got me this time. Well, time for sudden death here then," he grinned.

Mac was regretting his decision for round two of DDR on hard mode. Still, he put his best into it and, by some stroke of luck, won.
"WOO! YEAH. FINALLY, MAN!" He was still panting, but he managed to throw his arms into the air in victory. "Screw your dice gods, ba ha ha!" Mac cackled in a pointedly evil way, and then sank back against the bar again. Ugh, so much wooork. But oh yeah, two out of three! He didn't think he had a third round in him, to be honest. But, a bet was a bet and maybe, just maybe, he'd get lucky again. He realized something then. There was no bird chirping away with the victory. The reaper threw a quick glare in the bird's direction, pointing at it again. "You really are a little traitor." He grumped at it, his efforts returned in kind with a happy "whip-poor-will" of a chirp and a ruffle of plumage.
"Alriiiight, sudden death!" Getting back to his feet, he started the last sudden death match. "I can do this!" It was his turn to have a winning streak!
...Or not. As he promprtly lost. "What the jack, man! Today is not my day!"
==========================================
With the final round coming up, Jericho did the best he could, but playing hard mode was tiring work. He seemed to make it out in the end, though barely. Catching his breath for a moment or so, he didn't answer Mac right away. Straighting up after a bit, he turned towards the guy and gave a rather toothy grin.
"Ah well, maybe you'd have better luck another day," he replied, though he was still a little breathy with his words, "But good game man. Good game."
Hopefully the reaper still had some fun despite losing so much.
==========================================
At the moment, he didn't care that he had lost 85% of the games they had played. Right now he just wanted the ache in his legs to leave, or better yet for his breath to come back. When it finally did, he grinned back at the Dragon, even extending a hand to him.
"Good game, bro." He returned, once the handshake was done he was right back to leaning against the bar. Screw any other kids that wanted to play! This apparently out of practice Reaper needed a break, man. "The next time I'm feelin' lucky, I'm coming after you." He warned with a chuckle, finally feeling well enough to straighten and stretch.
"Oh, I have those consoles for you. You know, whenever you want them." Because that was part of the deal they had made!
==========================================
Gladly taking the handshake, Jericho stretched out some while they relaxed after that heavy gaming. At the little warning, he quirked an eyebrow before letting out a chuckle as well.
"Any time man. Any time," he replied. His eyes soon lit up at the sound of the consoles. The dragon hadn't forgotten their deal after all! While they were here, he figured they may as well get that taken care of.
"Ah yes of course. Well... if you feel you're done at the scarecade for the day, maybe we can go ahead and pick it up now?" he suggested. He wasn't sure if Mac still wanted to stick around the area for the time being. Personally it didn't really matter either way, but he felt he had a nice fill of gaming here.

"Yeah, I'm done losing." Mac chuckled, stretching out his arm to offer his hand to the whip-poor-will, who happily took him up on the offer. "I only brought handhelds with me, so if you want something bigger we'll have to swing by my dorm." He advised the Dragon, patting one of the pouches on his belt when the hand helds were brought up.
"What systems do you have?" He questioned, already on his way out of the scarecade and clear on his way to the school grounds. Faces he had a somewhat hard time with; places, however, were his forte.
==========================================
"That's fine," Jericho replied before pausing at the question of what he already had, "I have a DS and a Scarestation 3."
There was also his PC, but that didn't really count. Though, now that he thought about it, he better not grab something that his current systems would be tempted to somehow toss the other into his lava pit or vice versa. Console wars could get pretty bloody he had heard.
==========================================
"Oooh, both are good!" Mac nodded, approving of the consoles. The bird had been placed back on his hat, and he was contemplating what he had left. "I think...the box I have now...hmm...SSP, DS, Scarestation, Eii and a HeXBoX." He counted them off on a single hand, looking thoughtful. For a moment or two he looked at his outstretched fingers, and then moved to put his hands into his pockets. "Though, I'd advise against the HeXBoX unless you're willing to jump through hoops to keep them civil." The Reaper chuckled, shaking his head. "The Eii is much more friendly, but only by a little." A single hand lifted, using his thumb and index finger to gesture the really small amount.
"Is that what you do outside of school work? Play games?" The Reaper was babbling, mostly hoping to avoid the subject of the most recent field trip.
==========================================
Jericho was rather pleased to hear the whole selection of consoles at his disposal here. Mac's aunt must have had some nice connections to be able to have a supply of these things.
"Yeah I better not go with the HeXBoX. I'd rather not come home to find one or both machines in ruin," he mused, "So I guess the PSP and Eii then?"
The relations weren't that much better but, he still didn't have as much of a chance to come back to destruction. Hopefully, he'd be able to get the systems to behave nicely.
"Yeah I game, and work out now and then too. I'm supposed to help Riley with the fitness club as well but.. with everything going crazy as of late, that sorta got pushed back for now," he said, "There's a couple other clubs I've heard of and would like to join, but they seemed to have dropped off the radar for now."

"Yeeeeeah...there'd be bits of system everywhere. They go for the memory card, you know." The Reaper warned seriously, with a grim shake of his head.
"Sounds good! Here, I have this now." When Jericho mentioned the portable, Mac hummed and took his hands out of his pockets to dig around the surprisingly deep belt pouch, eventually pulling out a small little disc - that looked surprisingly like a pin - and inspected it. "Aah, here you go. The Scarestation Portable." He smiled, offering the power-button pin out to the Dragon.
"Aaah, that's cool." He actually struggled to keep a neutral face when Riley was brought up, and instead he fidgeted with the pouch, closing it back up again. Well, it was silly to think that the subject wouldn't come up at all... "Yeeeeah...crazy indeed. This was not what I was expecting when I decided to come to this Academy." Chuckling low, he folded his arms behind his head.
"I wanted to make a club, but the guy I was thinking of running it with kinda went M.I.A. Too bad, though." Back on subject, yes.
==========================================
Seeing the pin, Jericho took it an inspected it some. He hadn't seen the consoles come like this before. The ones in the stores were all in boxes. The dragon had to wonder why they didn't just leave them in this state since it was a hell of a lot easier to store this way. Musings aside, he looked back up at the reaper and grinned.
"Thanks," he said gladly while pocketing the mini disc thing.
"To be honest, I don't think anyone really knows what to expect coming into this. When I first got here, I was tossed onto a train to go to Christmas Town for a raid. That was a.... lovely field trip," he commented with furrowed brows. That particular trip was very much like a vacation compared to the wretched island, however.
"Oh really? What sort of club was it?" he asked, curious of the type of thing Mac would want to start up exactly.
==========================================
"Wow, really? Guess it's common then. I mean, I maybe had a day or two before I was tossed onto a boat." A boat filled with demons, he added mentally with a grumble. "But Christmas Town, really? That place must have been horrible!" The Reaper flinched and shuddered in near disgust. He'd heard about Christmas Town, mostly from his family. It sounded...terrible. He'll take his comfortable FEAR-loving haze, thank you.
"Yeah, it was just gonna be a general gamers thing. Yanno, sit around, play games, casual stuff." He shrugged, finally moving up the steps to the old Victorian Reaper dorm. He was the first through the door, but at least he turned to hold it open from the inside for the guy. "Maybe make games of our own."
Once they were both inside, he instead headed upstairs, the bird taking off from his head just before he took off his hat, rubbing his fingers through his shaggy brown hair.
==========================================
"It was pretty bad, but to be honest... it was like a relaxing vacation compared to what we went through on the island," he said with a frown. There were troubles, but that place wasn't nearly as traumatizing to him. The worst thing there was the giant death charm as far as he knew. Shaking his head at that thought, Jericho looked back towards Mac with a faint grin.
"Oh nice. That sounds pretty sweet. Well if you guys manage to get it up and running let me know ok?" he said. It couldn't hurt to have another club under his belt and it would be nice to have a group he could challenge now and then in various games.
Upon reaching the reaper dorm, he continued to follow Mac towards his room. He hadn't been in this building before now so he was looking about seeing what the place was like. The layout and the decor was definitely different from that of the other dormitories he had been inside so far. That didn't matter so much to him. What did was the fact that it wasn't bone chilling. He could do very much without the freezer like air, yes.

"...s**t, man, really?" Mac sounded - and looked - dumbfounded. A raid on Christmas town was like a Vacation to the island? ...Okay, well, he could see that. The island messed with their heads, Christmas would just assault their senses with all the JOY it possessed. "Sounds like the field trips are getting worse and worse...I think I'll skip out of the next one, just in case." The Reaper chuckled, though it was more low and nervous than amused. He didn't want to imagine a field trip worse than the Island was...
"Will do! Always good to have people on board." Flashing a grin at the Monster, he hummed and headed up a couple more stairs and then down a hallway, stopping in front of the door at the very end of the hall on the left. "...Oh, uh, it's kind of messy. And...well, I have a bit of an infestation..." He warned with a sigh, before opening the door and stepping in first; it was a good thing too, as the pitched yips and wiggling bodies of at least eight scareon pups instantly surrounded his booted feet, all of them eager and excited to see him for one reason or another.
Only one, a darker pup with an eyepatch over one eye, stopped and stared up at the Dragon. The others didn't seen to notice the newcomer at all. Other than the pups, the room was as Mac warned; a mess. Clothes littered here and there, some broken pieces of gaming consoles, one wall and a bit of the floor was covered in various maps with pins on them; for whatever reason there was a pirate treasure chest and a captain's hat in the corner. It pretty much just looked like an average teen's room, really.
"Alrighttttt...all that was left was the Eii, yeah?" He commented as if nothing was wrong, nudging some of the pups away with his foot so he could sit down at his desk, opening a drawer to look around.
==========================================
Jericho shuddered at the thought of a trip being worse than the island. That wasn't something he really wanted to fathom. While there were some redeeming things about facing the island, it was not something he would want to experience again any time soon. Shaking his head to rid these thoughts, he turned his attention back to Mac and paused at the door. There were quite a few scareons inside and he nearly stepped on the one that had come to investigate him.
"Dang, where'd you get all these guys?" the dragon asked. Scareons weren't incredibly common and all. But one thing was for certain; the room was pretty messy indeed. There was probably a lot of good stuff hidden or lost away in the mess here. Making his way carefully through the room, he nodded to the other reaper with a grin.
"Yeah that's it," he affirmed.
==========================================
"Aah...Nina keeps bringing them back." Mac explained with a heavy sigh, gesturing to the natural brown Scareon that snoozed on the window sill. "I'm not sure if they're hers or just adopted, but more keep showing up." The Reaper was digging through the box and one by one the pups became disinterested; sadly, one by one they started noticing the Dragon. Soon enough Jericho would find a pile of pups, varying from browns to greens and purples, all staring up at him like they weren't sure what to do with the 'intruder'.
Well, except for the pirate-y pup, who flopped across one of the Dragon's feet. It was apparently a good place to nap; or maybe a good start to the pantleg climb it started attempting moments later. Mac, of course, didn't notice.
"I usually ignore them, they leave me alone eventually." He explained, still distracted. A moment or two of digging later and he made a triumphant noise, holding out a pin nearly identical to the one Jericho already had.
"Tah-dah! There we go, the Eii. Err, I am of course not responsible for any harm to you or your possessions." He added with a half grin; the consoles could get rowdy, but that was all throughout halloween.
==========================================
"Nina?" Jericho started before spotting the normal Scareon not too far off. If the pups were her own, he had to wonder what lucky stud of a scareon was out there to help with the process. Glancing down at the one piratey pup that came up to him, the dragon crouched down to pick up the young one. He didn't want to end up stepping on it and all.
"Well I guess they make good company," he said while blinking, "Doesn't feeding them get a little annoying though?"
That was quite a few mouths to feed after all.
"Ah! Thanks," he grinned as Mac handed over the pin that was to be an Eii. The dragon made a note to try and be as careful as he could to introduce the new systems so that he didn't end up with a warzone. Aside from the consoles themselves, there were a number of things in his room that he would rather not be destroyed.

"Yup. Nina. My sister named her...she names all the animals." Despite the exhaustion in his voice in regards to his sister, there was still something very fond there as he gestured to the kits and vaguely to the bird who had left to perch on it's stand. "Kinda, I mostly just put out some FEAR candy and leave it to Nina after that, it seems to work." He shrugged; Nina insisted on adopting or having them, they were her responsibility as far as Mac was concerned.
"Welcome! Here, let me take that." He chuckled, trading the System pin for the Pirate Pup, hand under the little creature's stomach so it's paws dangled. "Unless you want one, for free." It was hard to tell if he was serious, though the way he turned to lightly drop the pup onto his desk suggested he probably wasn't too serious about it.
==========================================
"Oh you have a sister?" Jericho asked idly as he looked over the new pin. Before too long, he went on and put that away as well, "But at least she's been taking care of them then. Hopefully the family won't get too big though."
Chuckling lightly there, he looked at the pup that was placed down and shook his head.
"Nah it's fine. I've got my own little guys to take care of at my place."
Though, Gimbal was pretty self-sufficient for the most part, so he didn't really have to worry about that one too much. He wasn't quite as lucky with the others, however.
==========================================
"Yup. A younger one. Like most little sisters, she's very annoying. Do you have any?" Shaking his head, he ruffled his fingers through his hair and gazed over his shoulder at the snoozing Mama Scareon. "Yeeeah, here's to hoping. She let a few baby foxfires in here too, from the closet. Can't say I've seen them around since, though." Which likely meant they were still hiding in here, somewhere. Under the mess. An infestation indeed.
"Aside from that, What do you have, aside from the Kobolds?" He was actually mildly curious as to what sort of pets a red dragon owned. There was a gaze out the window, and a sudden thought struck him.
"Oh! Word of warning, Lizzy's pink wing-eared thing~" Mac immitated the creature by pressing his knuckles to the sides of his head and waving fingers. "~Is crazy. If you ever tick it off, close your blinds and lock your closet." It was a nice warning, between guys...who were on the subject of pets, anyway.
==========================================
Nodding to Mac, Jericho paused a bit with the response, "I don't. I think there were others born in the same clutch but if so they didn't survive very long."
He didn't remember any of them in any case and his parents never mentioned them, but he knew dragons tended to have more than one kid. It wasn't really something he thought of much. Shaking his head at the thought, he grinned again when his own pets were brought up.
"I have a Catastrophe.. kinda a winged mini dark knight type thing. Also had a a fire breathing cat before," he replied. The latter was given to Riley to help her ward off all the cannon cats that seemed to love gravitating towards the Mindflayer. At the mention of one of Lizzy's pets, Jericho blinked for the moment. He actually hadn't encountered it a whole lot, but he had seen it before.
"What... is it stalking you or something?" he asked with a raised brow.

"Lucky." The Reaper chuckled; oh, to be a reptile. Maybe his parents would have eaten his sister instead. Oh, he could only dream. "If you ever feel the need to have a little sister, feel free to borrow mine. She's like, this big-" He gestured just below his waist. "-And all the company you'll ever need." With a roll of his eyes he flexed his hand to mimic a talker, and then settled to ponder over the minipet.
"A Catastrophe...I don't think I've ever seen one! What happened to the cat?" Alright, he was curious. A fire-breathing cat in a Dragon's dorm...seemed to fit. Why the past tense? Did it die? Curious!
"...Err. You could say that. I may have, uh, upset her once..." A brief, awkward pause before he ammended. "...twice." Probably more than that, actually. "It attacked me and I'm positive I see it here and there, watching me." His expression contorted and he shuddered, looking back out the window.
==========================================
Chuckling at the commentary on the little sister, Jericho shook his head again. He was fine without having a sibling. Growing up it meant having less competition for loot and food.
"I haven't really seen any other Catastrophes around, but next time you drop by I'll be sure to poke it out of hiding," he grinned, "Oh. Riley has a bit of a cannon cat problem. The damn things spring up like weeds for her, so I gave her the cat as a sort of... defense against those. They don't react to fire all too nicely."
Soon, he furrowed his brow at the short little story on the pink pet of Lizzy's.
"Well that's just creepy. What'd you do to upset Lizzy to get that?"

Enoh Love "Please do." Seeing new things was always fun to him; new creatures and whatnot. He couldn't say he was too empathetic to Riley's infestation; aside from reminding him of his priorities on the island, she didn't leave much of a favourable impression. "Well, that was nice of you. I don't know why she didn't just get a Woe Hound or something." Shrugging, he tilted his head and looked..surprisingly thoughtful at the question. What did he do to upset her?
"Uhh, well...She was returning my Jacket and...I don't know? I probably said something mean to her." He scratched the back of his head and lifted his shoulders again in defeat. "I don't remember what I said, I just had a pink thing fly at me and try to claw my face."
"So yeah, watch out for the fuzzy wing-head."
Blade Kuroda Jericho raised an eyebrow at Mac's reply. "You probably said something mean?" he repeated. The explanation didn't give a great deal of insight on what happened there. Maybe the pink creature was just easily aggravated or something along those lines. Either that or there was more to this than Mac was telling him. The dragon didn't really like the thought of Lizzy being upset, but he supposed there wasn't much he could do about it now. Whatever it was, the girl seemed to not care about it considering the way she acts around the Reaper. "I'll keep that in mind," he nodded, "Hadn't really run into it all that much but hopefully it won't decide to start hating on me any time soon." Enoh Love "Well, yeah..." A brow lifted. "I mean, the stupid girl jumped into the lake to save her skeletal reigndeer...and she can't swim." Mac rolled his eyes, foldins his arms across his chest. "Of course I, uh, enlightened her." As to what she was doing wrong of course, but knowing himself it was probably slightly mean.
Also, things tended to only attack you if you did mean things to them.
Unless the creature was just a jerk by nature.
"Best of luck, man." The Reaper chuckled, turning to lean against his desk. "Err, make yourself comfortable if you want, unless you have something else to do?"
Blade Kuroda Well that begged the question of what Lizzy's skeletal reindeer was doing in a lake when it couldn't swim either. Oh well, at least the two were alright it seemed like. Shrugging off the thought, Jericho looked over towards some of the resting scareons and shook his head at Mac. "Nah, I'm pretty much free all day," he said with a grin before leaning against one of the walls in the room, "So where does your aunt get all the consoles anyway? Does she work at a game store or something like that? Enoh Love "Awesome, then!" It was always good to have someone to talk to. The question though, made him pause. He tilted his head a bit; honestly? He didn't really know. She just always seemed to have them on hand when he wanted them, and he went through so many that there was apparently a stock pile just to be safe.
"No, she's a stay-at-home ghoul. I think her friend does, though." Mac never really thought about it; just, it was there, he never really had to question it before. The Reaper took a moment to look Jericho over, and then tapped his chin.
"So you're a Dragon, eh?" Captain Obvious was clearly taking the stage, but he had a point, really! "What would bring a Dragon to the Academy?" He sounded friendly enough, very curious.
Blade Kuroda "Huh. Oh well, at least you don't have to worry much when one breaks down on you," Jericho chuckled. It was a curious thought, however. Looking over towards Mac, he nodded while taking a moment to formulate his answer. Well, he knew his original answer, but he had trouble figuring out what he really wanted in life now. The whole island experience messed with him in that regard. "Well, I came in wanting to grow stronger, so that one day I could be a dragon of legends essentially," he said with a faint grin, "As nice as that sounds, that answer just doesn't really cut it for me any more. I want something more.. along side that, but I just don't know what yet." "What about you?" Enoh Love "Haha, yeah." Mac chuckled with a small nod. "It's definitely helpful when they decide to do a mortal combat in the middle of the room." The Reaper gestured vaguely towards the pile of scraps, apparently it was something new and he hadn't had the desire or time to clean it up.
"Huh. A ghoulfriend or two, maybe?" Mac teased with a wink and a laugh. "But seriously...maybe you want a team?" Not that he recalled stories of Dragons working in larger groups, but hey...things happened. Besides, what more would a Dragon want out of school? It's not like you could get valuable shinies out of it. When the question was turned back on him, he unfolded his arms to absently pick up an unopened envelope on his desk, one that had his real name on it.
"Hmm...Well, I won't lie, part of the reason I enrolled is for Charlie." The unopened envelope, obviously the victim of a random fidget, was put back on the desk. "The other part...is to figure out what in Jack's name I want to do with my life."
Blade Kuroda At the mention of combat, Jericho glanced at the bits of plastic and metal strewn about the room. How many consoles did Mac burn through, he had to wonder? "Ah that could be it. I don't really know what I want to do with myself over all though," he said while watching the Reaper fiddle with the envelope. He thought he was going to open it, but that didn't seem to be the case. "Close friends with Charlie then?" he added. That... pink haired demon was.. quite an ... interesting character from what he had seen. The dragon didn't know him all too well, but he felt that Charlie's mind wasn't exactly all there. Enoh Love "Ah, well, I'm not sure about the lifespan of Dragonkind, but I'll say you've probably got a nice, long life ahead of you to find out." Was he a little bitter he had a shorter life? Yeah, maybe. But that's alright, he'd make it the best he could!
"Hahaa...yeah, best friends, childhood friends, practically grew up with him." A twisted grin formed on his lips, and he shook his head. "I got bored without him and wanted to make sure he didn't set the place on fire or something equally Charlie-esque. "He's a veeery special boil." For a moment, Mac tapped his fingers on his desk, still leaning back against it. His gaze just so happened to go out the window for a moment, and he spotted something hopping away. Several somethings, actually.
"Hey. What's your stance on BunnyWunnies?" There was an odd glint in the Reaper's black eyes, of a devious plan forming. "Like, say, helping with population control?"
Blade Kuroda "I do, but I'd still like to find out sooner rather than later. Feeling kinda lost isn't really all that great and all," he said before chuckling at the comments on Charlie. He certainly seemed... special alright. Jericho's eyes lit up a bit as a sort of culling was brought up. "I think they're pretty tasty to be honest. But sure. This a part of the infestation you've mentioned?" he asked, "Well I wouldn't mind helping you out there. It's nice to get some fresh meat every now and then for once instead of having the cafeteria stuff." Enoh Love "Maybe another field trip is an order?" Mac chuckled, but it was a nervous one. He did NOT want to go on another trip for a long, long time.
"Oh, you could say that." The Reaper grinned, stretching out a hand to materialize his oddly shaped white birch staff, the Whip-Poor-Will flying off of it's post to perch on the top of the staff. "Maybe we can invite Petro for a barbecue." He mused, turning to head out the door, holding it open for the Dragon.
"I'm probably not going to compete with you, though. We'll see." Meaning that if he starts winning, it'll be a competition.
Blade Kuroda Raising a brow, Jericho stepped away from the wall and headed towards the door after Mac. The dragon wasn't really aware of Petro's stance on the critters. He wasn't really sure if he ate meat even... seeing how the guy was a horse and all. But he supposed it was possible. The thought was what counted anyway. "Heh. Alright. Well lead the way!" he grinned. Oh he was going to eat well tonight. He could sense it. In fact, he could almost taste the charred rabbit right now! Perhaps he could save a few heads to give to Riley later on as well, figuring she would appreciate some fresh brains and all. Enoh Love "Alright...Meet at the dorms in fifteen, then?" It would probably be easier to hunt alone, and it was always good to have a backup just in case they got separated.
Mac learned real fast that BunnyWunnies were NOT easily caught when your weapon was a stick. After showing the Dragon into the woods (without going in TOO far, since he had no memory of the place), the competition-that-wasn't-really-a-competition began. Which...the Reaper was positive that he lost. His best attempts were thwarted with his obvious handicaps...mainly being a guide, not a hunter. Plus Bunnies were fast. Even if these bunnies had super long tongues trailing behind them.
He clubbed one, managed to catch another's tongue with the pointed end of his white birch staff, and his third BunnyWunny was caught mostly by accident; Mac missed it, but apparently the shock was too much and the poor thing had a heartattack on the spot. Still. It counted. Totally counted.
Once he was sure the time was up, he grabbed the very dead bunnywunnies and headed back to the Reaper dorm, tossing them in a little pile on the ground before wiping his hand on his jacket. Ew. Dead bunny germs.
Blade Kuroda Once they were at the location, Jericho did some quick stretches before going ahead and starting up. Unlike the Reaper, he was a hunter. Not only that, but he had a slightly more effective weapon to tackle the bunny-wunnies. A few he had managed to grab by practically pouncing on them, but the rest were caught up in his flame breath. Dinner was going to be nice tonight for certain. In total, he had managed to snag ten of the critters. It was enough to last him a couple days if he didn't eat them in his true form. He'd have to drop off a few brains to Riley too for that matter. Hauling what he got, the dragon made his way back to the reaper dorms and set them on the ground for the time being. "Hey!" he called over to Mac, spotting him not too far off, "How'd you do?" Though he asked, he soon spotted the small pile nearby. It seemed the reaper didn't have as fruitful of a hunt here. Enoh Love The Reaper turned when he heard russling, and spotted Jericho with... ...Ugh. Seriously?
"I hate you." Mac replied with all the maturity he possessed, though as always it was with a chuckle. He should have known that the Dragon would come back with a bigger haul considering, well, Jericho happened to be a Dragon. Plus, Mac was pretty sure that Jericho had a lucky charm shoved up his...yeah.
"Aaah, If I had the time to make traps, I would have done better." He waved his hand nonchalantly, and started to nudge his three kills towards Jericho's with the tip of his boot. "You can have them, I imagine a Dragon needs to eat more than a Reaper does." Besides, he didn't know Petro's number, so making good on the whole barbeque thing from earlier wasn't easily done.
"So what now, since you've made today your b***h?" Grinning, he nudged the last of the dead bunnywunnies onto the mostly charred pile.
Blade Kuroda Jericho couldn't help but chuckle at Mac's initial response. However, he was surprised when the guy added to his bounty. Once he got over that surprise, he looked at the guy and gave a big grin. "Thanks man!" he chimed while looking at the pile of fresh meat. They sure looked tasty, especially the ones that were already charred. They smelled great too to him. His attention shifted away from the bunnies as Mac asked him what he was going to do now. It was a good question really. "Hm... not really sure. I might head back to my place," he said while thinking on the matter. Enoh Love "No problem, dude." Mac smiled, wiping his boot on the ground since two out of three of his bunnies were gore-y or blood-y...He didn't want to drag the gore through his room when he eventually got there, he imagined it would be bad for the kits.
"Yeah, that's probably a good idea...I imagine those things'll start going bad...correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Dragons are too keen on decay." Looking back up at the Reaper dorm, a thought seemed to occur to him and he looked back down, jerking a hand to the building behind him. "I have a bag you can use to cart them back if you need it."
Blade Kuroda "Eh. Depends on the dragon really," replied Jericho. The diets of his kin were just about as varied as the dragons themselves. The blacks likely wouldn't mind some decay if there happened to be some, "But yeah, personally I wouldn't really want to eat rotten stuff." "Oh, a bag would be great, thanks," he nodded. It was already a handful to carry the ten over here. He risked dropping some of his load on the way to the monster dorms if he didn't have something to hold them in. Of course he supposed he could switch to his true form to eat up a few first before carrying the rest back. That wasn't too bad of an idea actually... Eh, perhaps he could do that next time. Enoh Love "Alright! I'll be right back~" Mac gave a little salute before taking off, running into the dorm and, judging by the heavy foot falls that could be heard as the door was closing, running straight upstairs. A few minutes later he returned outside, holding a plain duffle bag over his shoulder.
"Here you go, you can, ah, keep it." He was being generous, but that was probably because he didn't want a bloody bag back. At least not one with bunnywunny guts which, he was pretty sure, didn't come out.
"Well man, it's been fun." It'd also been a while since he'd gotten his a** so thoroughly kicked, but...whatever. "I'll pay you back, one day." For the losses, of course. With a grin, he held out his hand.
Blade Kuroda Waiting where he was, Jericho soon grinned as the reaper returned with the bag. He went on and started tossing the kills into it before straighting up as Mac swore he'd get back for all the losses more or less. There was a devious sort of glint in the dragon's golden eyes as he took Mac's hand and shook it. "Any time man. Any time. But yeah, it was fun," he replied before hoisting up the bag. With a nod and a wave, he started to head on back to the monster dorms... but not before swinging over by a certain demon's place to drop off a few heads.
