The botched mission the day before and everything that had happened during it had succeeded in making Claire never want to leave the base again ever. But, after regaining her rationality - swiftly brought on by the fact she had the next few days off and had spent most of the morning laying in bed with an ice pack on her hip and staring at a wall with one eye twitching in mild irritation - she decided to head out to Camphoreon for a bit and maybe get something to alleviate some of her insufferable boredom. Besides, laying around with nothing to do or concentrate on for so long lead to thinking about things she would rather not dwell on at all. Like, for instance, the mission the day before. And Tethys. Ugh, Tethys. That woman would give her nightmares for weeks.

Anyway.

The young woman, currently wearing comfortable, loose black sweat pants - she had no desire to irritate the burn and gashes on her hip by wearing jeans - with a currently unzipped black hoodie covering a lavender tank top, found herself walking (slowly and rather stiffly) down the sidewalk, a chubby Pikachu perched on one shoulder. It felt nice to just walk around somewhere that wasn't the base. Then again, it felt nice to do anything after flying over. Claire had realized her mistake not even halfway through the flight that that was definitely not her best decision ever. Okay, so maybe she hadn't regained all her sense of rationality. Some was better than none, right? At least she had the next couple of days off to recuperate at least a little bit.

"Hey! Don't be late, Rookie! We're not waiting up for ya!"

Alba rolled his eyes as he walked away from the inconspicuous van, but didn't offer any response other than a halfhearted wave over his shoulder. Having caught a ride into town with the same batch of young Rocket trainees in the past, he knew it was likely they'd wait around at least an extra hour than planned, and it was never because of him.

The weather itself was rather pleasant, but the van ride through the desert with a gang of rowdy youths had been stifling. As such, he carried his usual green, pullover sweater over one arm, right hand in pocket, just in case he started feeling at all chilled. Other than that, loose jeans and a button up, light blue dress shirt and sneakers made up his casual attire for the day. He'd mostly just grabbed whatever he saw first when he'd heard a group was going into town for their day off. His ponytail was low and slipping, and he almost considered whether or not he should get it cut that day.

"CHING!"

"What is it, Spook?" The Chingling had been faithfully levitating by his shoulder as he walked, but suddenly perched on his right shoulder and pointed excitedly ahead. It wasn't hard to follow the bell's line of sight and spot what she was so happy about. Claire, a.k.a. The Cookie Lady, as Spook thought of her, was walking along towards them, with Zeus in tow. "Heh, what do you know? Small world all around this week," he said to himself with a small smile. He waved to catch her attention as they neared.

While the heard the sound of the Chingling, Claire didn't associate it with any Chingling she knew personally. It did catch her attention though, so she looked around to find the source of the sound - and did so at the same time she saw a familiar face waving at her. She offered a smile and a half-wave to signal that she saw him, and after a few moments of walking - noticeably stiff, though she tried her hardest to avoid limping, damn the accursed exploding pokedex - she stopped a couple feet from him. "Hey," she greeted casually, and Zeus offered a greeting as well, waving at the pair with one stubby arm. "I didn't know you'd be coming to town today too. Any particular reason?"

Alba shrugged the shoulder that was free of beaming Chinglings. "Hey. Had the day off, and so did some of the other trainees, so I figured I'd take the chance and tag along." He glanced back the way he had come. A few of the others were still horseplaying around the vehicle, while another honked the horn to get them to move so the driver could find a proper parking spot. He just shook his head and turned back to Claire. "What about you, if you don't mind me asking? There was quite the buzz at... work... yesterday over you guys." The stiff gait had not gone unnoticed, but for the time being, he was politely ignoring it.

For a moment, one of her brows lifted in surprise. Trainees? Was he still a trainee? Still? ...how long ago had she met him and gave him that Pidgey and he was still a trainee? ....he didn't get promoted and then somehow demoted, did he? Hopefully not. No.. he seemed too nice to be demoted for any reason - unless being nice could possibly be a reason for demotion - so... Was he really still a trainee?

She followed his gaze to the car, lifting her other brow at the antics of the young men around the car. She couldn't imagine riding in a car for that long with.. that. "Oh." Her attention was pulled back to him as he asked a question. "I have today and the next few days off because of-- my, ah, injury," she shrugged, not sure how to explain the specifics. "And I'll bet there was. Anything interesting happen while we were gone?"

"I-Interesting?" Lucas and Aulus looked ready to start a brawl over you in front of four agents and almost gave Twitch a panic attack, nothing much. Technically, that was after the group had returned, so he technically wouldn't be lying if he failed to mention it for now. Technically. "Um, no, not really." He bit his lip without thinking. "Lots of rumors going around about what may or may not have happened, both with your group and at the uh, other office." That sounded innocent enough, right?

The stuttering and slightly hesitant - it sounded like it to her, anyway - response, as well as the fact he bit his lip, was all noted. She chose not to comment on it for now, however, so she merely nodded slightly. "Well, it certainly was, um, interesting," she replied with a sigh as she reached up to rub her forehead with one hand, forcing herself to steer far, far away from thoughts of the creepy blue-haired woman.

"Anyway, to answer your other question I'm here looking for something to keep me occupied. I mentioned I have a few days off, and it's much easier to rest in bed than anywhere else, but I don't have anything to do," she explained as she turned her hands palm-up in a vague gesture. "So I'm here to try and find something to get so I won't be bored out of my mind for the next three or four days. I could probably buy a tv," here Zeus had an expression that looked as if Claire just gave him all the chocolate ever, "but I'm not too sure where to buy one.. Any ideas?" After all, he might've had other suggestions, though a tv would probably be simplest, and it could keep Zeus occupied as well, maybe even Blue, too.

Alba nodded as he listened, oblivious that his tells had given him away. "TV sounds like a good plan. I spotted an electronics store that way when I was here last," he pointed to a road on his left, then frowned and turned around, "or was it... that..." Yeah, this wasn't embarrassing at all. Like a merciful sign from above, literally, he spotted a familiar sign hanging from a building to the right. "Ah, there it is." He waved a hand toward it like it was the most ordinary thing ever, and started to turn in that direction. "Just a TV, or did you want to be able to watch movies as well? Although you could probably just use a computer for that part, these days."

A small smile twitched onto her face when he couldn't recall at first just where the electronics store was. It didn't take him long to remember though, so when he turned, she did as well, though her gait was still noticeably stiff. At least she wasn't limping. "Oh, yes, movies would be a great idea," especially considering she didn't even know what channels they could get on base, or what any of the channels contained. Maybe there was a list she could get somewhere... "Though I don't really have any movies.. I might have to get some, though I suppose I could maybe borrow some from the lounge.. Maybe the library..." Or maybe she should just buy some, but which? She hardly ever watched movies... Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all..

Alba chuckled as Claire seemed to get a little worked up over the movie issue. "Scratch movies off the list for today, then," he suggested. "Unless we find a place that's selling a bunch for dirt cheap, you should probably just stick to the ones in lounge areas. More variety, and less movement needed than returning any you check out." It was the first comment he had made towards her stiff movements, and unless she brought up the topic for discussion herself, it was going to be the only comment he made... for now. He still made a mental note to keep an eye on her pace, and to find reasons for her sit down from time to time if possible.

The sign over the store read "Buzz-Tronics," with a cartoony looking Electabuzz striking a pose next to the lettering. Alba rolled his eyes at the name and logo as they reached their destination, but stepped ahead to reach the door first. With a smile and mock wave of presentation that looked like a bow, he opened and held the door for Claire. "After you." Spook mimicked the gesture from his shoulder.

Alright, yeah, that would be a better idea overall. A lot less expensive, too. "I guess so," she said ruefully before her violet eyes flitted down to focus on her right hip, and she let out a sigh. "Is it that obvious?" Well, it was incredibly sore - moreso now than it had been before she'd had the absolutely brilliant idea of flying to the city with second-degree burns and stitches on her hip. Genius, clearly.

"Oh well," she shrugged, following his lead towards the comical electronics store, "not like it really matters too much. As long as it doesn't get any worse, anyway. Thank you, good sir," she said with a light chuckle, her words matching his own mock dramatic door-holding before stepping inside. After a cursory scan of the whole interior of the building - or as much as she could see from the door - she attempted to pinpoint the whereabouts of the TVs. "Now where... ah, there, thank you Zeus." The named had immediately attempted to jump up and down on her shoulder when he spotted them, pointing off to their right, so Claire (slowly) headed in that direction. She hated not being able to walk at a normal pace, especially considering her typical gait was rather brisk.

"Welcome, miss," Alba said, continuing the act but dropping it as he followed Claire inside. "And compared to your normal pace? Eh, maybe a bit." He held up a hand to show the tips of his thumb and index finger spaced only slightly apart. "And I might've already known to watch for it beforehand, so technically I was cheating."

He was still glancing around at what all the store had to offer, but kept pace beside her easily enough as they went. "To think I used to live down the street from one of these places, and never bothered to go in," he mused to no one in particular. "Kind of funny to find another one now, and actually be inside it."

"Where you used to live?" She asked casually, though left the question open-ended so he could easily elaborate if he so chose, or completely avoid it. It really didn't matter to her which he did, it wasn't her business after all, and she wasn't one to pry. ...well, she did with Lucas but he was an exception.

"Ah, cheater, you already knew," she said in a mockingly accusing tone, waving a finger at him as if he'd committed some unacceptable act or something. "Oh well, doctor said it should take two or three weeks to fully heal, and it could've been a lot worse. I could've had twenty stitches or something and gotten third degree burns." No, she'd take her two stitches and second degree burns, thanks.

It wasn't (too) long before the pair arrived at the wall of tv's, and the young woman stared at them all with violet eyes slightly wide. "Do they really need to sell this many different types of tv's? Seriously?" Well, people did like variety, or a lot of options, so.. Weird. "Hopefully they're not too expensive, I don't need a huge fancy one.. I'd like a dvd player too," but those weren't in this general area as far as she could see, just... tv's. So many tv's...

Darn, he shouldn't have mentioned where he used to live. Letting it slide for now, he pulled a face that was a mix between a grimace and a grin. "Yeah, guilty." Cue another mental kick at the wording, but he covered that grimace with the play one and a half shrug. "That is lucky, though. You'll keep a good eye on her, won't you, Zeus?" he addressed the chubby Pikachu.

When they walked up to the TV's, Alba had to step back to take in all of the screen selections. "Woah..." All he could seem to do for half a minute was stare, dumbfounded, at the variety. His mouth moved a few times as though he was going to comment further, but each time it just uselessly snapped shut again. "Woah."

Claire's reaction to the sheer amount of variety they had was similar, though instead of awe it was more vexation. There were way too many of them. All she wanted was a decent sized one that could fit in her room to keep her occupied while she was recovering. She didn't need anything huge or fancy, it just needed to serve its purpose. And not be incredibly expensive. Zeus completely ignored Alba's comment, too busy staring wide-eyed at all the tv screens with the same reaction as the older man: Woah.

The young woman had already passed such a reaction and had started investigating the ones that weren't too huge. "I've never bought one before," she admitted with brows furrowed, trying to figure out just how any of these were different besides size, but there were even practically 10 of each size. It was mind boggling. She bit her lower lip slightly, still completely confused by all of them and Arceus why were there so many? "Um, what do you think I should get?"
