Word had gotten around base rather quickly about the mission that had been thwarted by Team Galactic, and resulted in a crash. Even Asch had heard about it, and suddenly found himself being summoned to Kunai's office. His previous assignment had been postponed in favor of something else.

The group that had temporarily gone missing, had been on their way to the outpost to scope it out. But due to Team Galactic, a new approach was being taken. Instead of a full team, they were sending out two agents that specialized in infiltration, making it more low key and not as likely to be interrupted. The two selected agents had been none other than Asch and Aila, the recently paired partners.

After receiving detailed instruction for the mission, Asch had left quietly in order to make preparations. Suiting up in the appropriate gear and outfit for just such an occasion, he was set to meet with his partner in the garage. His usual attire would not do well in this setting, thus the agent was entirely dressed in a form fitting dark gray and black stealth suit, complete with boots and gloves, while a small pack was slung around his shoulders. Long red hair, which could not be allowed to get in his way, was tied back with a single black hair tie just above where the bright red started to darken at the ends. Two pokeballs sat on his belt, along with a hip pouch for necessary tools.

Ready to leave, Asch was now awaiting his partner's arrival.

A part - a very tiny part - of Aila just wanted some time to rest, but the rest of her was thrilled that she had the opportunity to complete the mission she had set out for. Were it not for Galactic's interference, the task would have been completed already, but the circumstances had been unavoidable and she would have to take what she could get.

She suited up similarly, dressing in the stealth gear she had assembled during her time with the organization. It was a significant upgrade from the outfits she had used for infiltration in the past, and she looked forward to putting it to good use. She selected her team from the several pokeballs collected on her nightstand - it worried her to bring along Revenant since doing so would leave Izaya completely unsupervised in her absence, but the Mismagius had an immense capability to benefit their mission. Arranging the pokeballs at her waist, she departed in the direction of the garage to meet with Asch. Noting his location and approaching, she greeted the other agent with a nod, "Ready to go?"

When Aila arrived, she would find him leaning against a concrete pillar, keys already in hand. Green eyes lifted when he heard her footsteps, and for a moment he didn't answer her. Asch had not worked with any female agents in such missions, up to this point. As he looked her over, he had to turn his face away to hide the slight blush that was creeping up on his cheeks at the sight of a girl in such tight attire.

Despite raging teenage hormones, he quickly stamped them out and retained a neutral expression. He had no feelings for this girl anyway, they were simply partners and that was it. They would get their job done, and in a professional manner.

Straightening up into a standing position, he then moved towards the sleek black vehicles parked nearby. "Yeah, let's go."

His sudden turning away caused Aila to regard him with a momentary confusion, the thought that his behavior was reaction to her manner of dress completely missing from her mind. She shrugged it off when his posture straightened and he answered her previous question, following in the direction of the cars. She breathed a small sigh at the sight of the things; she could scarcely remember the last time she'd needed to set foot inside one of the vehicles, relying her Metagross for transportation ever since it had evolved, and she wasn't looking forward to the trip. One thing she did remember about vehicular transport was the car she had ridden in with Nyx that had suddenly started burning and smoking. She didn't trust the things. This wouldn't stop her, though. Completing the mission, especially after it had failed a first time, was infinitely more important than her distaste toward cars.

Despite the fact that he was barely old enough to legally drive, Asch had no problem with handling the vehicles. Since he had been the first to arrive, he had gotten the keys and been self designated as the driver. He doubted that she would object, and if she did, too bad. At the very least, driving would keep him distracted.

Reaching one of the all-terrain vehicles, which was pretty much necessary for going anywhere considering the sandy terrain that surrounded HQ, Asch opened the driver's side door and climbed in. With a turn of the key, the engine started and within moments, the vehicle emerged from the garage and out into the desert. The sun lowering in the sky and painting it with brilliant colors.

The first few minutes went by in silence, but eventually the red head broke it. "So, you were on the last mission." He had heard plenty, but he figured most of it was just exaggerated rumors and less face. "What happened?"

Aila certainly had no objection. She had no knowledge of how to handle a car, nor did she want it. She was perfectly content to use her Metagross for as long as she was able. She climbed into the passenger seat with an inaudible sigh, pulling the door shut and the seatbelt across her. She resigned herself to the ride as the vehicle exited the garage, though the sunset caught her attention almost immediately and pulled her thoughts from unpleasantness. The setting desert sun remained a point of fascination for her, and she watched it intently until Asch spoke. She turned sharply to regard him, mildly startled by the sudden words, but relaxed with a vague sense of embarrassment at her own reaction.

"Team Galactic interfered again," she said with a distinct annoyance. "They attacked us en route to the outpost and our helicopter crashed. Their jet crashed behind us, and we wound up trapped in an old mine that practically caved in around us while we tried to escape." Her tone implied that she was still slightly bitter about the whole day. Get in and get out, TRP had said. Bah.

Asch didn't have the luxury of staring at the sunset, but he could at least admire it out of the corner of is eye. Kodo was a region unlike any he'd been to, especially with the lack of Pokemon League presence. It was a much different feel here as it wasn't a main Pokemon Trainer hub. Closer to Grande Ile, and yet completely different from his native island as well. Plus the terrain was incredibly diverse. Deserts were something he was accustomed to though, after having spent several months in Orre, thus he had no trouble driving through the sand.

Green eyes shifted towards Aila for a brief moment as she spoke, the wheels in Asch's mind turning as she mentioned Team Galactic. He remembered hearing mention of them, but nothing in detail. He was new to the Kodo base after all, and only knew what he'd been able research in his short time here. "How many times has Team Rocket encountered them? What are they like?"

She murmured quietly in thought as she attempted to arrive at a conclusion to his question, "The first time at the volcano-- Well, I suppose that was actually the second time, since Deimos and his aid were at the ball... After that was... I think this was the fourth time, in the past five months. It's ridiculous." Ridiculous and frustrating, and this evaluation came through in her tone. "They're ridiculous too. Their leader, Deimos, is practically a Pachirisu with a talent for tech. His officer is a lewd idiot with no sense of gravity. His second-in-command is the only one with any sense, and she expends it all taking care of their great leader as though her were a child." A final, expulsive sigh closed her thoughts on the matter. She was getting suck of running into the trio, and she had only personally run into them twice - once of which she was practically unconscious.

Brows lowered as Asch scowled at the windshield, listening intently to Aila's words as he focused on the terrain and lack of road. There was a grunt from the agent as they hit a bump that jostled the vehicle sharply, but it wasn't enough for him to lose control.

"What could they possibly hope to gain from interfering with us? It makes no sense." This said in a manner of indignation, despite the fact that he'd never encountered them personally. He did hear that a Ho-oh was stolen, but what about these other events? What was Team Galactic's objective exactly? Especially when concerning them?

As she went on to describe the trio, his frown deepened. "So a bunch of idiots have been getting the better of us," he stated in a unimpressed tone.

Aila bit back a startled cry as the car rocked in the sand, her grip on the seat instinctively tightening. Seatbelts, she reminded herself. Seatbelts were like little bubbles of protection that could defend against all vehicular evils. A hand fiddled idly with the buckle to make sure it was secure.

"They seemed to be deliberately after the Ho-Oh when they showed up in the volcano," she offered, hoping she didn't sound noticeably shaken from the bump. "I heard that the time after that was a misconception on our part, that they were just testing tech in the area with no intent to attack us. Last time they were demanding us to return a piece of their tech that we stole, apparently." She leaned backwards slightly in the seat. "It does seem that they're targeting us specifically for some reason, though... Maybe it's just paranoia." At any rate, it was impossible for two large criminal organizations to thrive in the same area. One of them would have to give in eventually, and it wouldn't be Rocket.

"Essentially," Aila confirmed with obvious distaste. "They either have miraculous dumb luck or they're all genius actors trying to lower our morale by posing as idiots..."

"Heh," was the only reply he had to give in response to all of that. It was something to think about, and Asch was interested in observing this gang of idiots that seemed to be good at outsmarting them. There was something behind all of this, and Aila's suspicions could very well be right. However, he wasn't going to worry about it right now, they had more important things to focus on.

However, Aila's reaction to the bump didn't escape Asch's notice. Thus, after a few moments of silence, he brought it up. "You afraid of cars or something?" Not exactly the most tactful, but he wasn't trying to be.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 28, 2011 8:26 pm

Ah damn, he noticed after all. Enough time had passed that she had been certain he hadn't, or at least that he would let it slide. "Not fear, exactly. Just... discomfort." She focused her attention on the passing sand with something of a sour expression. It was a silly worry, but it clung to her even though she understood that. "One of my first experiences with a car was with Agent Nyx. She wasn't very confident, and there was a fire." Well, smoke. But the situation had been near enough to disaster that Aila's memories had contorted into something significantly more dangerous than it really was.

Asch was in mild disbelief at this. "You let one experience affect you like that?" Surely it couldn't have been that bad, could it? But then, women were perhaps just more... frail in that regard. It irritated him slightly. Thus he huffed in annoyance. "You can relax, you're safe with me." If he knew Nyx, he probably would have been even more indignant, considering that woman herself didn't like to drive and was very poor at it.

"Well, I dislike cars to begin with," she defended. "...They make me feel a bit ill. It's unpleasant." She fidgeted slightly with the strap of the seatbelt. If she had to lay out her inefficiencies, why did it have to be the most ridiculous one? "I should probably learn how to operate one... It's less a matter of trusting you and more one of trusting the car itself." What was to stop it from suddenly hitting a hidden stone or overheating or spontaneously combusting?

"You get carsick," he replied in that continued tone of disbelief. Now he was starting to wonder what kind of girl they had paired him up with. Not that Asch didn't have his own weaknesses of course, but this was just something he hadn't expected.

The red head sighed, both at Aila's distrust of cars, and the fact that they were starting to cross into the plains and onto a road bound for Camphoreon. That would make the trip easier and less rough from this point until they came back.

"Its a machine, there's nothing to trust. The only thing that makes them potentially dangerous is the driver, and idiots on the road."
