The young ice tiger Shiya watched as the leaf fell from its branch. It was lush and green, so full of life, not the type of leaf one expected to fall. A shiver ran down her spine as the leaf touched the ground. She started to wonder if maybe it was a mistake to come here after all. The rumors she had overheard her father and older sister talking about had been fascinating to her. Soquili getting lost while following a straight path through the forest, strange noises that no one could explain, but now standing before that very path fear griped her. Shaking herself she snorted softly. She was the granddaughter of the high-queen of ice tigers, no forest was going to get the best of her. Head held high she started down the left path.

Amira stood up and looked around. She didnt hear much, including her sister. As she turned to look behind her, she did a double take at the fork in he path. it was mighty strange to see a bright green leaf fall from the trees.
She saw her sister heading down the left path. "Hey sis!" she called out. "Wait up!" She galloped to catch up to her. "You ready for an interesting journey? I've heard dad and sis talking about this area, but we should definitely see what the rumors are all about."

Her fear disappeared to be replaced with disdain. “Can’t you at least pretend you’re a lady,” she asked disgusted by Amira’s unlady like behavior. Shiya continued walking, ignoring her sister for the moment. She moved carefully, alert for any sound. Not hearing anything she glanced at her sister. “What do you think we’ll find on this interesting journey? She asked not able to take the oppressive silence any longer.

Amira was used to this sort of "attitude" from her sister, and generally just ignored it. This time she let out a very faint sigh. The day would go on, and Amira was sure that scenarios like this would play out more than this once.
"I've heard some of the rumors, and really I just want to know if any of them are true. I'm not scared" she said, although she knew that her sister could probably hear the faint bit of fear in her voice. She was saying this to help convince herself.
Amira walked along side her sister, awaiting the nest snide remark about her "fearlessness"

Shiya briefly nuzzled Amira, not that she’d admit to doing so if called on it. “I’m scared,” she admitted softly, “there’s something about the air here that sends a chill down my spine.” She stared straight ahead not wanting to see her sister’s reaction to her statement. “Let’s hope not all the rumors are true, I have no intention of spending weeks wandering lost in this place. Father would probably kill us once he found us.”

As Amira walked down the path, a few feet behind her sister, she felt that chill that Shiya had made mention to. The colors seemed to bright to make sense of the eerie chill. She slowed a bit to allow her mind to catch up with the feeling she just had. She needed it to make sense in her head, and nothing seemed to add up.
"Things will be ok sis. I cant imagine this place really being as bad as everyone says it is." Amira said. She was trying to keep herself calm as she seemed to sense that her sister might be just as worried as she.

Maddox stood hidden behind some closely grown trees, not far off the path that his sisters were taking. He had heard Amira leave and decided to follow. When he saw where they were heading, he had decided to play a joke on his sisters.
He ran into the forest, hiding as well as he could, although his coloring stood out like a sore thumb. He hoped they wouldn't pay much attention to the areas around the path and more to where they were going. He waited, his breath held in silence for the perfect moment to surprise them.
He rustled his wings a little bit, just enough to make some branches that were touching him make a small swishing sound. That gave him an idea. What if he pretended to be a scary creature lurking in the bushes, and then jumped out at them. Their faces would be priceless!
He found a low hanging branch and reached up with his mouth, giving it a good tug to make it move, and quickly let go so he could hide again. He hoped they had heard and it would catch their attention.

Shiya froze ears flicking at the sound of a branch moving. She silently signaled for Amira to stop and be quiet. Spotting a good sized rock lying nearby she kicked it into the forest near where the sound came from hoping to flush out whatever moved the branch. The only thing on her mind was protecting her sister and she thought the best way to do so was to know what they were up against.

Just after hearing what appeared to be the same noise that Shiya heard, she saw her sister signal to her, and she froze in her tracks. She watched vigilantly as Shiya kicked a rock into the brush, hoping that nothing would jump out. "Do you see anything?" she whispered to her sister? "Whatever it was, it sounded kinda big, but I think we'll be ok." she assured her sister. Amira felt like she was more-or-less reassuring herself.

The rock that Shiya had kicked bounced past him, landing just inches from his front hooves. He waited a few seconds, hoping they weren't still looking his direction, and peeked out just enough to see if they were still there.
Trying to stay hidden, he tugged on another branch, and shook it a bit more, harder this time.

Shiya glanced from the trees to her sister. Whatever was in there was big and didn’t appear to be coming out anytime soon. “Let’s go, move slowly as if we just lost interest, show no fear” she whispered to Amira. As she turned her head to face forward once more she saw out of the corner of her eye a flash of pink mixed with the green of the leaves causing her to frown. Her frown deepened as another branch moved. ‘It couldn’t be, could it?’ she asked herself. If it was Maddox playing a prank she was going to kill him.

Amira picked up the pace a bit to be along side her sister just before the branch moved again. "Yeah, lets keep going" she whispered back.
Suddenly she saw a change in her sisters mood. "Did you see something?" she asked half-worried. Just then she had an idea. Amira spread her wings and flapped them a bit to try and rustle the branches and bushes to see if she could uncover the source of the previous movements in the brush.

Maddox frowned that they hadn't gotten more scared from his little prank. He decided to let them move on, and then to try again.
He stopped shaking the limb when Amira came closer to him, and scooted backwards a little, moving more branches and rustling leaves. If he wasn't careful he would get caught, ruining his prank, and probably making his sisters mad at him. He ducked behind a thick bush, hoping that Amira hadn't seen him, and wouldn't venture further towards him.
