 A brightly marked, black stallion stood starring into the river. The soft breeze caused his mane to drift around him. He flicked his tail back and forth as he stared into the river. He moved his nose to brush against the water before rearing back. What is that thing in there? He snorted at the fish that nibbled on his nose. He was not use to the river but this is where that girl lived. He had never seen a fish before and was curious as to what it was exactly.

 Apple Blossom watched the stallion curiously from her perch on the bank. "You know," she called cheerfully as she watched him struggled with the little fish of the stream. "They're just as scared of you as you are of them!" She stretched her legs and trotted down towards the dark yet bright soquili, "Actually, I bet they're more scared of you. You are a bit bigger than them after all and you're new, they get scared of things they're not used to."

Yori turned around to face where the voice had come from. He peered at the other nervously. "H.. H... Hello." He stuttered out. He had not been around others, so far the only living thing he had been around was that girl that brought him here. He looks to the sides wondering if more were going to suddenly appear before looking back at Apple Blossom. "Y... Y.. You the only o.. o.. one?" He questioned her nervously.

Oh dear, Apple Blossom thought to herself quietly as she watched the nervous stallion. Maybe the fish aren't more scared of him... But true to form the little usdia put forth a calming, hopefully reassuring, smile. "Just me and the fishes," she said sitting on the bank. "My name's Apple Blossom, what's your name?"

Yori peered at the smaller mare as she settled down on the bank. "Y.. Y.. Yori." He stuttered out. He looked at her wondering if he should turn tail and run or stay. He didn't want her to think he was a coward. He snorted then stamped down his front hooves. He was going to stay right here even if this made him uncomfortable.

"How are you enjoying the river, Yori?" she asked watching his stomping hooves. "And you might want to be careful, the fish can move pretty fast but some other creatures in there aren't quite as quick."

He looked down then came out of the water. He moved in a wide circle before stopping. "Fish? What are fish?" He questioned her. He flicked his tail nervously. He paced a bit in front of her keeping his eyes on her.

"Those little guys with the fins," she said pointing back towards the river. "Let everything settle and I bet you'll see them swimming back and forth. Sometimes when you walk in the river they come up and try to nibble on you. They like my tail for some reason, I think it's the color," she flicked her bright pink tail.

He looked back towards the river. "One bit my nose." He started to relax a bit, the mare seemed harmless. "What are you?" He sat down. "You are small. And what is that thing on two legs that gave me those yummy orange roots?" His mouth started to water thinking about those carrots. He would have to get some later.

"Two-leggers," she supplied with a fond smile. "They take care of us. Mine always has sweet stuff like sugar and berries and apples. They're good. And I'm a usdia, we're smaller than most soquili, but our hearts are just as big."

He cocks his head to the side. "They are just called two leggers? Are there more of us around here?" He watches the other with much intrest. "Will they hurt me?"

Apple Blossom nodded, "That's what I call them. And sure, there's lots more of us!" She beamed brightly, "Big ones, small ones, ones with bright colors like yours and others that are darker. All the ones I've met are very nice, but my friend Sonja says there are some dangerous ones here." Apple crept closer to the ground and looked around as if something were about to jump out and get them. "Skinwalkers..." she whispered. "They're the bad ones. There's some other bad ones too...but you have to watch out for the walkers."

His eyes go wide. "You will help me right? Stay away from these bad ones?" He looks around nervously. "You are good yes?" He turns his attention back to her. "At least you act like you are good." He pondered this. As a child the others had always picked on him because of his odd coloring. He wasn't natural or normal they would say. So he had taken to a life of roaming and solitude.

"I try to be," Apple Blossom said honestly. "I try to be nice and take care of my friends, and those that I meet..." she giggled, "And even the fish!"

He smiles at her. "What is a friend?" He scoots closer to the smaller mare. "Is a friend a good thing?"
