I've been having a look at "Land, Sea and Sky" and I'm not sure what to think. The contents page looks interesting, but the poor eclecticism (taking concepts like wyrd and applying them willy nilly) and occasional silliness I've spotted while browsing on amazon make me pause.

Has anyone read it? What do you think?

I've never ready any of his books. Have you checked out his website? Might give you more insight into his practices and beliefs.

It just reinforces that first impression - not so much his own tradition, just your average eclectic neo-paganism, and not particularly ethical eclecticism at that. I'm more interested in this particular book and whether there's anything interesting in there.

I don't know. It looks like there might be some good information in it but you'd have to get past how it's presented. From what I skimmed on the Amazon preview, his language is a bit...over dramatic, and rather pretentious.

Also, this is what his website has to say about the book in question. (emphasis mine)

Quote:
Discover the shamanic roots of modern Witchcraft and experience a profound deepening of the soul. Divided into three parts corresponding to the Celtic realms of land, sky, and sea, this unique book introduces readers to the ancient Celtic trinity while exploring its associated Greek, Hawaiian, Hindu, Stregheria, and Wiccan customs.

Develop basic magick skills in breath work, grounding and centering, omen walks, and celebrating the body through dance. Learn methods for expanding consciousness and working with energy, including astral projection, clairvoyance, and aura balancing, and ultimately enact shamanistic practices of trance, vision journeying, channeling, and oracle reading.

Praise for By Land, Sky & Sea

“Few writers impress me as much as Gede Parma. A true Priest of the Craft, Gede is following his higher calling. Witches, magicians, and spiritual individuals of all varieties can learn from the sound, intelligent, and experiential advice found in the pages of By Land, Sky & Sea. Without pretense, the author gets straight to the core of the material: conveying significant information that can help a fellow seeker walk his or her path of empowerment and self-awareness. The mystical techniques and honest advice given in this book can be a much-needed inspiration for those who wish to deepen and actualize their living spirituality!”
–Raven Digitalis, author of Shadow Magick Compendium and Planetary Spells & Rituals
That bolded part kinda turned me off right there. I also noticed that the endorsement at the end comes from Raven Digitalis which might give you something to think on.

Ew, Digitalis.

I dunno, just looking at the contents and nothing else I wondered whether there might be something new in there to learn. But looking at his website and stuff it's really a bit of a stretch. He seems incredibly pretentious and it's hard to take a person like that seriously.

I was going to quote that exact same section, and bold the same. xd

Ha! xd
I suppose that's not surprising, since that sort of thing seems to set us all off, but it is amusing.
