Ok, i just want to know if this is just me or not. I work the graveyard shift (11pm-7am) on Fri Sat Sun Mon nights. every Sun morning my sister (whom i room with) wakes up at 8 and gets ready for church, not big deal right? Except for the fact that instead of going to the bathroom attached to her own bedroom she comes to the one right next to my bedroom so she wont disturb her husband who is still alseep. She turns on the fan, even though she doesn't take a shower, and then leaves it on even after she has left which means that i have to get up and turn it off since it's too loud for me to sleep through.
here's my issue with it, she comes to my bathroom so her husband who has been asleep all night wont be woken up by her getting ready. however he doing so keeps me, who has been working all night, awake. she leaves the (as far as i can see) unneeded fan on even after she leaves which makes me have to get up to turn it off or fight to sleep through it (which i can;t do).
is it just me or would that tick you off as well?

I would totally snap on her. I work a combination of 1st 2nd and 3rd shifts throughout the week and have some serious problems with falling asleep and staying asleep so when people wake me up to avoid waking up someone else who has already had 8 hours of sleep that day/night i get pretty irate.
Unscrew the coverplate from the switch that turns on the fan and disconnect the wires and cap them off then put the coverplate back on and the fan magically won't work. Then fix it the next day and wait until the next week to do it again. Or install a lock on the bathroom attatched to your bedroom so she can't use it.

My sister used to do that...we have this loud fan in the bathroom across the hall from my room. When it's cold, it starts up with this loud whirrrrrrrrrrrrERKEKEKEKERRRRRRRRRRKERKrrrrrr~ sound. So I got my handy-dandy screw driver and disabled the fan's switch. Even though it was fixed, my sister got conditioned to leave the fan off. Now I can hear her pee...but at least it doesn't wake me up. So basically, I made her learn to keep the fan off without having to tell her anything. cool

You should say something about it, but then again it depends if you share the house or are you just staying their till you find a place of your own. If you equally share the house then say something. If they are letting you stay their till you find a place on your own, then be happy they let you stay there no matter what the conditions are.

Seems inconsiderate of your sister. If he has to go to work at 11 AM he should go to bed sooner on Saturday night. Most folks with a late morning / afternoon shift can handle getting up 3 hours before work. And getting woke up after being in bed for about an hour sucks.
I gather from what you have said it isn't your house. Short of disabling the fan another option might be to invest in one of those timer switches. You can get ones where when you push the button the fan (or light) goes for a previously set amount of time - often choices of 5, 10, 15, 20 minutes. If 5 or 10 minutes would let her pee or spray her hair spray or what ever at least you wouldn't have to get out of bed to turn it off. If the fan is extra noisy from old age you might consider replacing it. The box stores typically have several models to choose from, not too expensive and install is two to four screws and a couple of wire nuts.
She may feel she is justified in using that bathroom but sleeping husband or no - not turning the fan off when she is done when you have told her it bothers you is just plain RUDE.

Sounds pretty insensitive on her part, considering your insomnia. Don't get too mad, but make sure she knows you NEED your sleep because of your insomnia, and that she just needs to become more light footed and use her own bathroom. It's simple enough, don't stress yourself about it 3nodding .
